All of a sudden my Thunderbird account is inactive

I am running Thunderbird and Firefox (latest versions) on two laptops Toshiba, a running Windows 7 and other Windows 8.1. The two laptops have been sharing my Thunderbird account without any problem for almost two years now. Yesterday morning, I checked my email in Thunderbird, and everything was fine. I expected an email later and checked again in the afternoon. Then I got a message requesting my password, that happens rarely, but when I typed in it, I got a message saying "send password for user"username"has failed. Mail server pop.charter.net replied: account is currently inactive. "I don't know how my account would be inactive. I use it all the time so it is impossible to inactivity, and I use the same account for at least five years. I had no problem with the Charter and all is well with them, as far as I know. I did nothing to change a parameter, period. The same thing happens with two laptops, so it's probably a problem with an operating system. I was able to send an email from my Thunderbird account to my Gmail account and just to see what would happen that I answered this email only to bounce back to Gmail as being a recipient not valid. My Thunderbird account is my email address and I guess what I usually get is now bouncing back, and I need these emails to pass through. Why can I send and receive not is beyond me. I hope someone can give me an idea what to do. I'm no computer expert, and frankly talk tech confuses me, so please, be gentle.

    All of a sudden, the user accounts on my computer is not necessary to enter a password to connect.  You can simply click the icon for a particular account and it load.  This includes administrator accounts.  I checked the user account control panel and it doesn/t display the saved passwords.  I have a fingerprint reader that works in conjunction with or instead of the password and who scans are always registered and working, but now are rendered advocated. What could have caused this?  I am on an HP dv6 - 1134ca Entertainment Notebook PC with Windows Vista Edition Home Premium with service pack 2.  I can and will implement the new passwords for the accounts, but I'm a little disturbed that this has happened at all and do not understand what could have caused it.  Everything has worked out very well and normal until today.  Thanks in advance for any help or suggestion.

    I never saw this happen by itself. All I can say is that you be proactive and make sure that the computer is free of viruses/malware and not compromised from outside.

    After these steps, the registry under "Drive" and "Directory" information are as attaché at the end read somewhere there should be a "find" under lock and key, as I have, but don't know if the subkeys under 'Search' are what causes weird behavior.

    If anyone knows and could provide what the values for the registry values must be in a system that works, would be nice to compare to possible problems.

    Unsuccessfully, with what precedes, to solve the problem, but noticed through that:

When you are logged in as administrator, I am able to see and modify the registry keys concerned with regedit, considering that when logged in as a regular user, I get an error that translates roughly as "the key could not be opened [consultation]?.» Error in opening the key. "for"Default icon"and subkeys 'shell' to 'Drive' and some subkeys under"shellex ".

    Oddly enough, this is also the case even if I "Run with" regedit as a user belonging to the Administrators group when logged in as a limited user.  Could be the mechanism of Windows registry access.

    Noticed that the small group 'Users' did not have access to "Drive". Grant read access, even as the "directory" and other registry keys next to them, for "users".

    Now see the values of registry as a limited user, but the problem persists. Do you really know what to try next, after spending hours Googling for answers.

    Zone alarm free firewall prevented changing the key of HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microdsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run.

    Which was fixed as in the article above tweaking of Zonealarm settings so that changes are allowed.

    It seems that I managed to solve the problem on my own. Did two things:

    1 set the registry keys determine programs associated objects 'Répertoire', 'Drive' and 'File' to the default values by using the settings found here: http://www.dougknox.com/xp/file_assoc.htm

    HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Folder\

    2. If you want to have permissions for group 'Users' to read all these keys in the registry. For some reason any access worked only partly for standard users.

    Not sure who finally solved this problem, but after I had finished 1. and 2. for the purpose of 'Record', by clicking on 'My computer' and any folder works normally for all users of the computer.

    I suspect that some recent installation of program which adds actions associated with these objects messed up the registry. Suspects are Norton Antivirus and dbPowerAmp.

I removed all mail rules and blocked senders and I still cannot receive anything.  I tested it by sending a mail to it through different accounts (gmail, yahoo) so I know that there must be some messages.  I also had people reply to my email that I send to what they do, but I don't get their answers.  I have 2 computers in place, using Windows XP and the other is Windows Vista.  I've never had a problem until now. Any help?

    My server contacted me and told me to check my spam using their webmail account, because it was full.  It seems that when I used the rules of the mail I had clicked on delete from the server, just "do not download".  My spam folder was so full that I couldn't receive.     I copied the .thunderbird folder to another folder on my computer (Ubuntu on Dell Laptop) for back up, re-open Thunderbird: accounts all parties; asking me to set up an e-mail account. I deleted the duplicate folder, but Auditors have always disappeared when I restart (.thunderbird original file still in the original location).

    I tried to use the profile to find/reactivate Manager profile as suggested on the support page (creating a profile with my name instead of the random.default profile) online - but it did not work.

    I'm reasonably computer literate but not a developer/programmer normal language would be appreciated!

    Right-click on the folder, select Properties, and then choose the button repair.

    All of a sudden I have a Spam folder and it is filled with "stuff", I don't have before and want to know how to get rid of the "stuff", I know I can remove the folder, but do not know if this is something I should do.

    Thunderbird does not use the word Spam or create a junk mail folder. Your e-mail provider.
    Just look in the folder and remove any message you want. Some spam filters are not that large to determine what is or is not spam and there could be some messages in there that you want to read or keep.
    It is not the end of the world. Simply sort the message in there.

    Gmail is not your main e-mail account? If you have email accounts, that you no longer want Thunderbird to check, you can delete them in the account settings dialog box (it is a button at the bottom left). Either:

    • 3-bar menu button > Options > account settings
    • Press the Alt key > menu Tools > account settings

    If Gmail is configured as an IMAP account (this is indicated in the server settings section) then all records for the account should be deleted from Thunderbird. They must, however, remain on the server. If in doubt, someone could probably describe the best way to make a backup.

    I had a lot of folders under my main email account, with all my historical emails. I want to delete my account to set up again and thus removed all of the subfolders under this account. Is it possible to recover these subfolders?

    My MacBook Pro is in running extremely slow all of a sudden, that way for several days now and I can't understand what is the cause.

    I tried the simple things such as checking for indexing spotlight, my home screen of the size of the compensation, first aid running in disk utility, etc.. But had no results. Any suggestions would be very appreciated!

    Back up all data immediately, as the internal drive may be failing.

    When you see a beachball cursor or the slowness is particularly bad, note the exact time: hour, minute, second.
