Thunderbird accounts disappeared after having copied the .thunderbird folder in another folder for backup (always went after the removal of duplicates)

I copied the .thunderbird folder to another folder on my computer (Ubuntu on Dell Laptop) for back up, re-open Thunderbird: accounts all parties; asking me to set up an e-mail account. I deleted the duplicate folder, but Auditors have always disappeared when I restart (.thunderbird original file still in the original location).

I tried to use the profile to find/reactivate Manager profile as suggested on the support page (creating a profile with my name instead of the random.default profile) online - but it did not work.

I'm reasonably computer literate but not a developer/programmer normal language would be appreciated!

It me - confused things fixed which happened, but fortunately I have lay profile .default right in the end!

    Hello. I have two machines and two accounts, so what I want is this:
    I want only to store mail from two accounts in a remote place and copy more important mails to local folders.

             (I will be grateful for any ideas as to where/how this "cloud" can be - specially free places)
             * Can I have a copy of these local folders in both devices and the remote storage?
             * Could i synchronize devices so that: when i move a mail to a local folder in any device, its copied to the same folders in
                the other device and the remote storage place?
             * The remote storage place will have many other folders. When I open Thunderbird, I also want to see these and the mail
                inside, and also be able to move mail from the inbox to these folders.
              * One of the accounts is gmail. In Account Setting tool, there is an option for synchronization. If there is no easier way, I can have mail for other account copied to gmail, and just syncronize gmail mail. For this, how will I copy my present folder structure to gmail.     The first awkwardness that I see is that there is no clear format in which to store the messages remotely such that you can work with them in an email client. It may be possible to set the option "Local Directory" of the account in Thunderbird to point to a remote folder (DropBox comes to mind) but I've never tried, and I'd be nervous about what happens if the connection cannot be established, or if you happened to access it simultaneously from two different locations. The other concern is that mail stores are fast becoming big, and you would be forever download and download large files (several gigabytes). Thunderbird stores what looks like a folder that contains many messages separated as one big file, so there is no simple possibility of incremental changes to load up/down.

    The idea of local folders in Thunderbird is to detach messages from servers, therefore they do not follow what is happening on the servers. I say this to emphasize the distinction between files stored locally and permanently ("Local Folders"), against copies cached files online ("synchronized"). It is not sure to consider your folders synchronized as permanent.

    So folders synchronized on an IMAP server are "mirrored" in Thunderbird you do not have a local (although temporary and transitional) copy of messages. This is done primarily to avoid download repeatedly the messages if you re-read, and it makes the fastest search more effective. But these "synchronized" track of message that are deployed on the server, and so if they are deleted from anywhere, all devices that are synchronized at one point also see messages deleted endangered. (Except if you have saved a local copy on the local folders account).

    I use a gmail account quite as much as you described; Copy or move messages to this account, so that they are visible in my phone, my tablet, my own laptop and my computer works. It's free, and it is "in the cloud"; the only reservation I have is her private life. There are other suppliers (e.g. 1 & 1/gmx) who do not seem to have the fetish of collecting data that google thrives.

    It's pretty simple to create filters in Thunderbird to automatically copy messages to your account "cloud." even better is to implement the translation of rules on the servers of other accounts, to ensure that your messages are automatically sent and waiting for you when you log in next time, already in the cloud account.

  • Directory disappeared when I copied the directory to the new machine

    I bought a new computer and was moving files from one to the other. I copied an entire directory - subdirectories and files - on the map, and then copied that data on the new machine. The original computer runs Vista. The new computer running Windows 7.

    When I did this, the directory has been eliminated from drive C visible on the original Vista machine. So I tried to overthrow: all that the copy of the new machine back to the existing one. When I did, the existing machine informed me that the files that I had to put on her already existing. I could not just see them. That's nice!

    So, I tried a search in Windows Explorer for files that I knew. Do they not appear unless I did a 'Advanced' search and checked the box "Include non indexed files hidden and system (slower). They came, and so did the directory that I had tried to find.

    This leads me to think that I should re - index the first machine, which is something that I discovered clicking around. However, I'm a little scared of this and thought I'd better ask first. As you can imagine, it's frustrating, because I'm just a regular computer user and not someone who knows a lot about the details. Thanks for any help.

    Here are a few things to try:

    option 1 - type the address in the address bar in the Solution Explorer and see if the invisible folder will appear again on the list of folders.

    -If Yes, then sometimes the case will resume on the list of files.

    -also check its properties and see if the folder attributes are set to 'hidden '.  you could try to switch the hidden on and out attribute to see if it committed the file to be seen again.

    workarounds are:

    option 2 - create a new folder on the drive as MyFiles and copy the contents of that unstable.  then delete this unstable, c:\files.   If it is still not visible by the browser, then try the delete command via the console drive prompt.

    option 3 - create a shortcut of desk top of the page with the address in the unstable folder which will give you quick access

    option 4 - create a new folder, as MyFiles and copy your files to another computer.

    2. when I delete the app and install it again - some of the persistent data disappears, some is always there.

    I think it depends on who what is persisted. If there are classes of applications store is deleted on uninstall, if there are classes of system store will not be erased.

    I found:

    When you use the persistence model of BlackBerry, data is removed only if the store contains data that belongs to the deleted application.

    For example, if an application stores an object with a package named com.mycompany.application.storage and no other application on the BlackBerry smart phone makes reference to packaging, permanent storage and the deleted application are removed.

    Dear teammates from MICROSOFT Technical support,

    Problem: My adapter WiFi and TP LINK router N existing (TL-WR940N) COULD NOT catch up with updates of Windows 8.

    To make my ASUS existing NOT PU detect/locate the mentioned router device.

    Solution: After harassing on the updates for TP LINK router, my WiFi is back on as usual.

    Suggestion: Windows 8 to consider this issue before the next update.

  • Cannot download purchases after the removal of duplicates

    iTunes has recently decided to reproduce most of my library. As a result, I was unable to listen to most of the albums without listening to each song twice. I did some research and it seemed that my two options were to delete every song duplicated individually or remove duplicates. It is has thousands of songs, I chose the second option.

    So most of my music is now gone. I tried to access my history bought on iTunes and they are there but unable to download (there no cloud only an X icon). On my current iTunes all digital booklets are still visible but no songs. Stupidly, I emptied my recycle bin so there is no way to restore from there.

    Can anyone help?

    Right-click on your Recycle Bin and select "Properties".
    Under the 'Général' tab, you can choose to have a configuration option apply to all readers or configure all drives independently.  Assuming you have a configuration for all drives option, you will see a box on this page that is properly labeled:

    "Do not move files to the trash.
    Delete the files when they are deleted immediately.

    Or of the United Nations, click on the box to your liking.
    If you do not have a configuration option for each player, and then click the tab for the reader, this applies to change the setting here.

  • 'IMPOSSIBLE READ of THE DISC or FILE SOURCE' - trying to select the last WORD Excel documents to copy into the folder for backup.

    I'm trying to manage files.  My strategy was looking for files with specific dates, then to copy to a new folder with the time interest af and backup.

    1. in the folder my documents C: SEARCH > SELECT ALL

    2 > COPY INTO FOLDER

    3 > MAKE NEW FOLDER

    Can I get an impasse with can NOT READ FILE or DISK SOURCE

    Is there a better way to make a new record with docs for a given period of time?

    I don't know if it is 'better', but another way would be to use Robocopy.

    for a long time, I tried to set up a filter which copies new messages in the Gmail inbox to a folder in local mail in Thunderbird, and defines in addition/unread state correctly on both ends.

    However, no matter what I try, it doesn't work.

    There seems to be no way to set the playback on the IMAP server to 'read' State after the copy action and at the same time keep the "unread" status for mails that have been copied to the local folder in Thunderbird.

    It does not work even if I created an intermediate folder on the IMAP server where mail is first moved to and only then is copied to the local Thunderbird folder later.

    I also tried all sorts of combinations with the 'move later' and other actions to FiltaQuilla.

    I'm really at a loss. I'm the only one who wants to copy the message from Gmail to a local Thunderbird folder and get the status of unread / read appropriate on the server, as well as in Thunderbird?

    I need to mail to stay on the server, even if I delete it locally. What part of this is not understandable?

    In any case, don't bother. I fixed it myself at the same time by putting in place the new Gmail account in Thunderbird.

  • Windows 7 Home Premium - all user accounts have disappeared after the update of Windows...

    My Windows 7 Desktop is really watered.  After a Windows automatic update, none of the user accounts appear in the login window.  Only a generic connection where you will need to enter the user and the password are displayed.  And when I enter the user name and password, I get a message that they are not valid.

    Here are a few additional pieces of information:

    1. I tried to restore to the point before the update, but it fails.  I get a message that there are missing files.

    2. my other restore points I had before the update are no longer available.  I don't know what happened to them that they do not appear on the screen of restore points.

    3. I can't log on to the computer at all, none of the accounts work.  I can get to a command prompt by using the repair disk, and I can see all the folders for the users.  So everything is intact.   Something must have happened to some system files and thus connect is not possible.

    4. users appear in the list of profiles in the registry.

    5. no windows service start because none of the users are no longer valid.

    6. I tried sfc/scannow, but I get an error "already waiting.

    7. I tried to add users on the command line using net and they are successful but even when they do not appear on the login screen and I can't manually type in these user accounts - I get the message that they are not valid.

    I tried searching online and I'm still not able to connect to the computer.  It has been 2 days of downtime.  What happened to my old restore points?  And why doesn't my restore points created by the work of windows update?

    I want to just restore from factory default, but I'm afraid I'll lose data in particular, all of the files currently sitting in the user folders.

    Any advice would be much appreciated.

    ->, I guess you have done this so that in the WRE (repair Windows environment). It is a ghost environment that disappears that you restart the system. Drive X: is a virtual, not a real disc.

    -> Many people are unaware of the need for regular backups (for example, weekly) until they are suffering from a major disaster.

    Suggestions

    Going by your description, I suspect that your existing accounts are irreparable. They need to be rebuilt. User data appear to be safe.

    Option 1. Use the console commands then in WRE to save all the files of the user on an external hard drive. A disk 2.5 "500 GB in a USB enclosure costs less than $60,00. After having tested the files on another machine, perform a destructive factory restore.

    Option 2. Start the computer with a boot of Ubuntu CD, then its GUI allows to save files to the user. It takes time to burn such a CD, but the copy process is easier. When you're done, do a factory restore.

    Option 3. A somewhat complex process allows you to create a new admin account, and then use this account to create new user accounts. You must then manually configure each of them (for example Outlook) and move their records of the old data to the new profile folders.

    There is also a method to restore old files registry of a set of backup files are a few days old. In your case I wouldn't consider as it would create a disjoint system: the registry files refers to a set of files that have been largely modified by the update.

    Post again if you need more detailed instructions for the option that you favor.

    I closed an e-mail account, but don't want the messages in the Inbox to 'leave' Thunderbird until I have a chance to sort through them.

    I suggest you take Thunderbird into offline mode and access your messages moved. Since you have already cancelled the account if it syncs with the server your messages may disappear. That's why you do this BEFORE you cancel your service with the provider.
    Do not remove the account from Thunderbird before moving into local folders or they will disappear with the account.
