alternatives to iTunes

Little by little, as the Apple software worsens gradually, I've been finding third party alternatives that seem to be able to help make working with the Nice computer. With the recent loss of an important source of my own music (added to iTunes from a CD), coupled with the search feature, find albums that disappear when you click on it, I'm looking for an alternative to iTunes. Any suggestions?

Rather than blame it on iTunes, what could be more productive would be to tell us more about the circumstances that led to your music disappearing.

For example:

  • You use iTunes game?
  • Do you use Apple music?
  • Host you your music on an external device?
  • You keep your music in the iTunes Media folder?  (This is in iTunes > Preferences > advanced in the iTunes menu.)

Because at the moment it is quite slow and troublesome transfer apps for the iPhone to the test. And iTunes is really slow on my PC.

I saw a video on YouTube once where a guy has used another program to transfer its apps for the iPhone. He said that he did not like iTunes because it was slow and a resource hog, therefore he has used this program of 'other' that make it much faster.

  • Cannot install ITunes-no admin rights

    Hi all

My company won't let me install ITunes on my laptop for "security reasons." I insisted, but there is no way, they will do it. I don't have another computer at home so I'm looking for a portable version of ITunes or an alternative to ITunes.

Basically, I think I can do the upgrades and back ups with the cloud, but I did not understand how to download music and videos on my IPhone and Ipad without ITunes (and without any soft, since I can not install anything...).

    Any idea?

You can buy songs from the iTunes Store directly on your iPhone (or use something like Apple's music service).  But now I know other way to import your CD (for example) on your iPhone without iTunes.  I'm sorry.

  • iTunes running extremely slow

I'm having a problem with extreme slowness.  I have read all the post and don't see anything that I could change to correct this situation.  I have my music on an external disk file using the FireWire on my iMac.  I have the latest Mac os 10.11.1 and the latest iTunes version 12.3.1.23.

I lit the apple music, but I'm not using the icloud or search service

I have 127,88 GB of music on any external drive

At this point, I am considering canceling music apple and past to another service, and I plan to download an alternative product to iTunes.

Is it possible that you and Podcasts iTunes can get their own programs as they do on the iPad and iPhone?

What would be a good alternative to iTunes?

    Thanks for any help.

One thing you should do is to run disk utility and test the volume of the external drive to confirm that there is no alteration of the data on it.  You can do this by selecting the disk external volume (indented under the Unit) in the disk utility sidebar.  Click on the button of first aid , then run it.  The corruption of data may cause slow access.  Also, if the player is close to being full, which can strongly increase the fragmentation of data, which can cause slow access, especially if the drive has been through cycles to get closer to satiety, followed erase you data in order to free up space, followed by get start near new...

My iTunes Media , also on an external FireWire drive folder, is currently 315 GB (with things that take more space as films, TV series, video podcasts, etc.).  I actively use two Match iTunes and music from Apple.  I don't feel any slowness.  You can do additional tests on your system to determine the cause.

  • Windows media player vs. itunes question

my family has products that are generic mp3 players (sony products) using windows media player and apple (iphone and ipad) products that need to use iTunes.

what I really have two different copies of my music on my PC libraries to manage two types of devices?

the player windows media allow for iPhone or iPad instead of iTunes?

can you tell me any documentation or article which discusses the advantages and disadvantages of the two and provides recommendations on how to support the two players on the same PC?

given a choice - if we are really to have two copies of the files - which I think we do but am not 100% sure - while would you - load Windows Media Player first and then import them into iTunes, or vice versa?

I tried both, but it seems to mess up the representation of the library and search for music files.

Is it possible to do so and have reasonable library for both products organisation?

I should potentially rip my cd of in the two products separately, rather than do an import of the library from one to the other?

any help or suggestion concerning best practices would be appreciated.

    Thank you.

    Barbara

As long as you follow the MP3 format, there is no need to do a conversion. Both WMP and iTunes should be able to manage libraries of music very well, and you can point them both to the same places (no need to maintain two separate copies).

As an alternative to iTunes, you can also use Winamp iPod support. To import the WMP library in Winamp (and keep it synchronized), you can use Windows Media Player Import plugin.

  • Win 7 vs Apple iPhone vs vs iTunes Sanity

    Hello!

It's maybe just me, but I feel like I want to scream when I try to use a PC, iTunes (the root of evil) and matched my iPhones. Just because I like more than a flavor of "kool-aid" some geek business punishing me. I'm sure that he or she monitor my movements and maniacal laugh whenever I try to do something productive on these platforms. I do not like the fruity flavor of laptops, desktop computers, or even me is important to their music players. They don't fit, or do not match them. I can buy a Win8 (talk about intuitive) phone at some point, but I digress...
My real problem is that I need an alternative to iTunes, which works on both formats and does not make me want to sacrifice my cat, Bill to the gods 'computer' to make things smooth and easy. All I really need to do is save my data, applications and this to my PC. (& restore these data). with both sync my Google products (calendar, contacts, etc.). I don't want to change phones - it's the only product they have that I really like.
Any suggestions would be welcome and appreciated! Have heard of double twist and a few others, I don't really know what they are and if they are safe.
    Thanks again,
    Bruce B

    Hi GKC.,.

Thanks for the input of the forum.

Interesting way to ask a question.

It does not necessarily easier to understand the question.

I will sum up to make sure I understand the question.

the problem is related to back up the Windows Phone 8.

then you have questions about software that supports all 2 platforms and features.

of the contact / calendar sync form e-mail accounts

    you have a few choices.

    1. back to the top is on the windows Phone and it is stored on your Microsoft Account. (you do have access to the back up, which is by design)

(to restore you can do this only if you reset the phone and configure the phone with sign in.)

    2. on the windows Phone 8, you can use the Explorer to synchronize music videos photos and co or the desktop application.

The following links will guide you.

    http://www.windowsphone.com/en-us/how-to/wp8/Windows-phone-app-for-desktop

    http://www.windowsphone.com/en-us/how-to/wp8

    http://www.windowsphone.com/en-us/how-to/wp8/start/syncing-and-moving

all information can be found on the page http://windowsphone.com

    3. e-mail contacts.

    You have a few options.

You can link together the accounts on the Microsoft account, if you connect to http://outlook.com e-mail settings.

You can add all your email addresses on the phone in settings then mail and account. (this is the best way, then you see what comes from the place where.)

contacts and calendar are synchronized automatically if enabled or authorized.

    Best regards

  • Very basic mp3 player

I have a question and I was wondering if there is so little alternative to iTunes. Here's my question, as a teenager, I constantly check new music to determine if this is something I might be able to use. When I click on an mp3, naturally, iTunes opens up, which takes time, and then he wants to add to iTunes library. I just want to hear a few seconds of a track and nothing more. Y at - it sort of a mini mp3 player that loads quickly and do it?

    Thank you

Select the file, and then press the SPACEBAR. You need not even a player.

  • Apple TV, a hard drive external and HDTV (the trio)

    Hello

    Please provide some assistance.

I have a mid 2015 iMac 27-inch 5K retina and all my Amazon.com bought music CD and DVD installed on my external hard drive. The hard drive and iMac are connected. In my living room is a TV full HD (1080 p). I think buying the 4th generation Apple TV that comes with a USB - C (service & support) and HDMI ports. On my iMac, use the DVD player to play my DVD and iTunes to play my CD of music on the Apple web site, they say you have to get an HDMI cable.

Q1. Is the HDMI cable for the Apple TV to HDTV or Apple TV for iMac.

On the apple web site, they show the video formats such as H.264 / MPEG-4 (for example .mp4 and .mov file formats). My Amazon.com bought show DVD "vidéo DVD" printed on the disc. If I use airplay mirroring to display the screen of the DVD drive on the iMac...

Q2. The DVD player and the movie will appear on HDTV?

Q3. Do I need iTunes to play my music CD and ITunes will appear on HDTV?

Q4. Can I avoid iTunes and play my music CD by selecting the song which is shown in Adobe bridge (part of the Adobe Photoshop package)? When I choose a song in Adobe, iTunes pops up and plays the song. In any case avoid iTunes.

If there will be problems, and as an alternative, it would be better to do the following...

To buy a bolt of lightning to the HDMI adapter and a cable HDMI (male/male) covering 30 to 50 feet (bypassing the baseboard) to connect the TV to the iMac. Use system preferences to the screen of the iMac on the HDTV in mirror and watch iTunes and DVD respectively. Are there problems using this road?

    concerning

    Robin

Q1. Is the HDMI cable for the Apple TV to HDTV or Apple TV for iMac.

Between the Apple TV and TV, the only link with the Mac is on a network.

Q2. The DVD player and the movie will appear on HDTV?

No block of Apple of his application of AirPlay DVD video (other DVD players are not blocked)

Q3. Do I need iTunes to play my music CD and ITunes will appear on HDTV?

The Apple TV 4 you will provide alternatives to iTunes, but yes, you can play your iTunes music via sharing of home on Apple TV

Q4. Can I avoid iTunes and play my music CD by selecting the song which is shown in Adobe bridge (part of the Adobe Photoshop package)? When I choose a song in Adobe, iTunes pops up and plays the song. In any case avoid iTunes.

I don't think not adobe bridge is available for the Apple TV, as I mentioned previously, there are alternatives, but I don't know why you want to use them, the alternatives are just messy IMO.

I guess you had to be content with using iTunes.

Try asking in the forums of the Airplay and see if there is an alternative to iTunes.

  • Napster and the "rocket": a consensus?

So I did some research and decided to make a rocket.  Not because they are the best ever invented, but because they seem to be the best that sells (and is thus likely to be supported for a while).  I searched this forum and the web looking for information on how well play together Fuze and Napster and I received a very mixed message.  I wonder if the community here can answer these two questions:

1 Napster works generally well on the "rocket"?

2 music subscription Napster-to-go usually plays from the SD card?

These questions have been asked here before, but a definitive answer was never really reached.  I did this research forum widely enough, but if I missed something, please let me know.

Here's what I know. Napster uses DRM for its files in through Windows Media Player and the MTP Protocol.  Sansa and Microsoft have cooperated on doing work together their alternative to iTunes/doPi compatibility.  They work insofar as Napster runs decently with any other computer and player mix.

Still Windows Media Player's whims, and instructions on most music services are not the clearest. So it is hard to tell from here inquiries what is a user error, which is weirdness WMP, which is a quirk of the particular computer involved, which is poorly explained by Napster and what may be a specific bug between Napster and Sansa.

TomJensen is right. Just try it. If you have used with success of Napster with another player connected to your computer, you can probably do the same with the Sansa - and if not, that's what guarantees store are for.  Do not tell them it's Napster - you can pretend you're a n00b and whining that it does not work.

  • export the music on your phone from the pc

How to export music from pc to iphone

Open iTunes and connect your iPhone. On the left sidebar, there should be the name of your iPhone (if you don't find the sidebar, go to the iTunes menu bar, under display, select see sidebar), go to your iTunes playlist and drag the songs you want from your iPhone. For all the songs, go to your iPhone music library, even if you don't have songs, and on the bottom, there should be a bar of bluish. There could be a box saying "Fill in from the iTunes library" click ONLY if you want that all THE songs from your iTunes on your iPhone. Or you can use 3rd software part as this alternative to iTunes, easier to use, supports slide it / move.

  • iTunes and alternative player

Since apple stopped supporting the iPod classic is there 3rd program/app used with inexpensive mp player who would recommend? I'm afraid to invest in the music from iTunes more because of the difficulty of using freely once it was purchased.

Apple stopped adding DRM to purchased music in 2009.

The most recent Apple's music service includes so that playback rights can be withdrawn at the end of a subscription.

iTunes offers backward compatibility with all the Apple iPod. If you encounter problems, update your iPod with iTunes, start with If iTunes does not your iPad, iPhone or iPod - Apple Support.

  • Alternative to folder (?) "Automatically add to iTunes".

As a Windows user, I use iTunes for many others only support up to our iDevices and prefer instead to use other software to manage and play my media.  However, I'm now considering iTunes game, which means that I have to add my media folder to iTunes, that is not the problem, leastwise initially...

The problem is to know how to set iTunes to update while my preference is to use another program organizes my media files.  Any other cataloguing software would provide a method to "Watch" a file, but iTunes insists on using a specific folder to watch, and then (correct me if I'm wrong) also emphasises the passage of these media compared to 'artist/album', while my favorite organization, for several reasons, is "genre/artist/album.  Any other software would also be allowing the import of a file all do not duplicate all the media that already exist in the media library, or at least include an easy way to eliminate duplicates.

I came across this same problem several years back, and a search today reveals no change.  However, I hope that someone has found an alternative to the "Automatically add to iTunes" folder that works for many of us, Windows users who refuse to use Apple media archaic software (?)

    TIA

  • So iPad 2 still does not not with iTunes supposed fix. No idea when Apple will release an alternative solution? A week passes now.
