American Megatrends error on our computer

Hi my children received a small computer to their Grandpa about 2 years ago and it was working fine until my son tried to start and we now get a message of American Megratrends that appears on a black screen and goes like this: -.

Press DELETE to start the installation
Press F8 for BBS POPUP

OK 512 MB (32 MB shared memory size used) DDR1: 400MHR)

Auto detection of IDE Pri master hard drive
Auto Pri Slave IDE hard drive detection

Ultra DMA assistance4 and capable S.M.A.R.T status ok

S master Toshiba DVD - ROM SD. M1212 1R14

Press F1 to resume

Does that mean the model needs a new hard drive? or is there something I can do to get rid of this message?

I hope you can help

I think you can see messages generated by Ransomware. It is a version of malware eager to victims to pay for eliminating the problem.

Download and install Malwarebytes (free version for individuals only), updated definitions and run in safe mode. Disable other security software while you do the analyses.

http://www.Malwarebytes.org/

Download and run SuperAntiSpyware (Free Edition)

http://www.SUPERAntiSpyware.com/download.html

After the pressing, you need start in SafeMode with network. You will find detailed instructions in the following link.

http://www.myantispyware.com/2011/02/21/how-to-remove-Internet-Security-Essentials-virus/

Note the link refers to a different malware for what you have, so you should only use the bits relevant to your problem. These are precisely on the safe mode with network and possibly the wick on the deletion of a proxy server.

  • When I restart Vista comes a page American Megatrends

I have a Lenovo Ideapad under Vista. When I restart, it restarts to page American Megatrends and I have to press F1 to continue. Then I have to reset the date and time. This product whenever I restart and becomes frustrating. Any ideas?

This Stop error message we "CMOS Date/time not set" - it seems that the rest of the information is provided for information purposes.

You will need to press F12 and go into the BIOS and set the time and then save and exit the BIOS - after that the message should appear is more unless there is a problem with the BIOS.  Where there is an ongoing problem you would first try to reset the BIOS default values and then look at contact the seller for service/replacement hardware

  • Cannot enter BIOS on Win 7 HPE with American Megatrends BIOS

Although others have asked how to access the BIOS Setup interface, the answers have not solve my problem. so I write another similar question.

According to the subject line, I can't access the BIOS Setup interface during startup.  My system runs Windows 7 HPE.  The equipment includes an elite group of ECS motherboard that came with BIOS of American Megatrend chip version 4.6.5 and is dated 05/03/2012.  I have never flashed or otherwise updating of the BIOS chip, but I could bring up the graphical user interface and change the options.  I did quite recently in fact.

When I power fail system and/or entering the cycle of rebooting from the button start, the system stops and then begins to start and displays the start of American Megatrends screen.  Press DEL repeatedly has no impact on the continuation of start-up.  He proceeds as if the keyboard were not active and the system did not, therefore, the interruption of the keyboard...  Because the splash screen also mentions F2 and F7, I tried these interruptions as well, nothing helps.  The boot process has continued.

I searched the web until my fingers are simple bumps and can't find anything really useful.  I read and reread mother ECS card manual without finding anything.  I found a FAQ on the web page of American Megatrends, which addressed problems to access the BIOS with Win 8, which suggests that the change of power options would be effective. However, these referenced power options do not exist in my win 7 system HPE.  Yes, Power Options are available from the Control Panel, but the individual options are not the same to win 8.

FWIW, I pulled all the hard disks internal power cables to see if I could access the BIOS interface.  I was able to do so; However, without BONES, the keyboard is not active so no keyboard interrupts can be issued.

I would be grateful for any advice on how to influence of post-processing to slow down and make sure that any issue the keyboard interrupt is seen and followed.

  • Our computer was accessed remotely this afternoon, how can we prevent this?

We have a Mac Mini, with OS X 10.6.8 using NetZero DSL as our internet provider and Firefox as your browser. Our computer was accessed remotely through LogMeIn (rescue), but it seems that the person or the group failed to hack into our computer. Are there settings in Firefox that could prevent this from happening in the future? Thank you...

Firefox is a web browser not a firewall.

I agree that it's more to do with your operating system and the LogMeIn software on ensuring that only you have access when you need to.

Our computer decided that he did not like the updates on May 11 and crashed in the middle. We have refreshed our system, everything is back with the exception of our windows key. It tells us that we activate when it was already active before the crash.

Finally got through HP through Facebook, and my problem was solved. I discovered that the purchase by a box like best buy store would put me in a group activation key. Because it is the key that has been registered in the BIOS, and I sent the screenshots of my activation which turned bad, they sent me a key and me were resolved with two e-mails and a very favourable CSR FB

  • Microsoft ring allows you to check on reports of errors on your computer

Ihad a call from a person saying he was calling the microsoft Center support asking if I had errors on my computer, is this true

    Hi Michael,

It's a SCAM! Microsoft does not make such calls and don't hire subcontractors to do. Don't give them any information. Don't allow them to access your PC. It's probably a tactic to get you to buy a service you don't need to show you a few errors in the event viewer and trying to scare you. They can also be tempting to information theft, outright stolen money for nothing (assuming they still exist), trying to access your computer to infect it or open it to be hacked or steal information, or a number of things. Microsoft will never call you if you call them and ask them to call back you. They do not start a request like that. They do not follow personal computers as in some science fiction movies, and they have more than enough calls from people asking for help without looking for more people who need help. They also don't do that by e-mail. If these people call once again, either hang up or if your so inclined game with them provided false information and bringing it and ask all sorts or esoteric questions and then ask to speak to a supervisor if they don't know the answers to waste their time when we know the real game (sometimes I get in the mood to do just for fun).

In any case, they are not authentic and by checking here you have yourself registered a big headache. Play well. Who is using your head.

    Good luck and best wishes!

  • Had a call saying I have errors on my computer - is my computer at risk?

Someone called and said that I had errors on my computer. They asked me to open the Run dialog box. They say they have identified my laptop on the CSID number (whatever it is). Asked me to open the boxes to confirm what I did until they told me to type in their Web site. When their Web page has come I'm suspicious, but I have not downloaded anything. Is my computer at risk because they identified the number of CSID from my computer?

In addition to information from the ball, change your computer password immediately if you do not already done.
    Access control/click Panel UserAccounts.
Click on manage another account and see if there is any administrator account that you did not create.
If you have an unidentified account, delete the account.
Make sure that you have access to your administrator account before you delete any account so that you block yourself from your computer.

Then, Microsoft does not make calls to consumers about the security of their systems.
Don't give control to the appellants know who want access to your computer.
They can create a door entry backdoor on your computer then it is a dangerous practice.

Microsoft offers free Microsoft Security Essentials to protect your computer from viruses and malware.
Download it from the following location:
    http://www.Microsoft.com/en-us/security_essentials/default.aspx

The CSID means ID Station called usually required for faxing.
Or College ID number. In my opinion, that they just tried to fool you with their terminology.

I hope this helps with your question.
