  Go to "uninstall a program" or "add/remove programs" in control panel. Find McAfee in your list (McAfee total protection for me).   I had the same problem - downloaded a free program and the next thing I knew, Yahoo had taken over my Firefox search bar. A solution that works for me (Windows 7, 64-bit) is to do the following:

  Go to computer C: drive > Program Files (x 86) > Mozilla Firefox > searchplugins.

  In the searchplugins folder, just delete the file "yahoo." Restart Firefox and voila! no more Yahoo!
