An update of the bricked my laptop BIOS. What to do next?

I have a Presario F756NR running Windows 7 64-bit.  I upgraded the BIOS of F.08 to f.0Une.  The utility argued that the uprade was successful.  When I rebooted, the computer wouldn't POST.  Whenever I turn it on, the power light and the fan turns on and I can hear the CD drive, do something.  But the screen remains blank and the HDD light shows any activity.  There is no beep codes or flashing lights anywhere.

Is there a way to fix this, or is it toast?

I deleted the recovery partition when I installed Windows 7, but I have the recovery CD. Is this helpful at all?

Thank you!

Hello:

Sorry to read about the problem you are experiencing. To the best of my knowledge, your PC is more for the parts (except the motherboard).

Because you flashed the BIOS under Windows 7 with a flash BIOS written for Windows Vista, and it's a shame that HP is not warn people of the present - on the importance of enforcement based only on a windows flash on the operating system, in that it is supported is the reason why it happened.

You have upgraded to W7.  You probably followed the BIOS date of issue which show a fix for the potential problem in W7.

You Flash the BIOS. The flash BIOS seems to be well. You restart the laptop. Brick.

You are not alone. Dozens of people have posted on this forum with this scenario. I read all the posts and I think that everyone in W7 BIOS, and the BIOS Flash is designed only for XP or Vista.

Unfortunately, the recovery disks will not help in this situation.

Think that the BIOS is the spinal cord, which connects the brain of the computer (CPU) with parts of the body (hardware). The failed BIOS flash has been the equivalent of breaking the neck of the PC, resulting in paralysis and death.

    Hi good day!

In regards to your concerns about "how to configure the bios to start my Flash disk first."

I have listed the steps easy to follow below:

    1 shut down your computer

    2. press the power button to turn it back on and immediately press your "ESC" key repeatedly until you see "Startup Options".

    3. then press "F9" to choose the media that you want to start first (on your situation, it's your flashdisk)

Furthermore, I believe that what you do is "System Recovery", for more information please read this article:

I hope that this helps, may you have a wonderful day!

  • I have a new computer and firefox crashes constantly on it, even though I disabled all addons. I've updated all the drivers and software. What should I do?

Accident id also does not work, and does nothing when I ask for more details.

    Hey,.

well, it is a known incident, please try the following (he reported to work for some users):

You will have to perhaps restart Firefox for it to take effect, so save any work first (e.g. you compose mail, documents online that you are editing, etc.).
    Then perform the following steps:

    • Click on the orange top left Firefox button, then select the 'Options' button, or, if there is no Firefox button at the top, go to tools > Options.
    • In the Firefox options window, click the Advanced tab, and then select 'General '.
    • You will find in the list of parameters, the checkbox use hardware acceleration when available . Clear this check box.
    • Now restart Firefox and see if the problems persist.

In addition, please check the updates for your graphics driver by following the steps in the following knowledge base articles:

Troubleshoot extensions, themes, and issues of hardware acceleration to resolve common problems of Firefox

Update your graphics drivers to use hardware acceleration and WebGL

You can use your wired router or wireless... Wired means that you have to connect a cable from a computer to your router... If you want to use the part of your router wireless, you should have an adapter installed on your computer wireless... For most all new laptops have a built-in... wireless adapter but if you want to use a wireless network from desktop to your router, you need to buy a wireless adapter...

  • Uploaded to the producer of folio DSP - what to do next?

    Hi all

I did an ipad, Iphone format and sizes two folios. She could also have been a size Android. Shouldn't matter.

I've updated everything to the PSD. Both are listed in the Organizer. All required fields are filled and I can hit the button release.

So far so good, no errors. When I switch applications "publish", I see a list for my folio iphone and my iPad folio. But that's all.

The question: what do you do when the folio is produced? Where the app does stuff?

Also, when I'm in the organizer and open a folio, I do not see the pages, I see only a header that I can drag back.

Update: OK, I got it. You must use jpg or png format, not pdf. This cannot be selected when you create a folio. The Panel that opens the 'default' format is defined in pdf format. You need to change this. Strange.

Also, I work with a windows PC. With a paid account of CC.

    Any suggestion is welcome.

    Thanks in advance.

    Dan

If you use creative cloud you use not of all producer Folio, or do you not use "publish." Inside of InDesign, in the Folio Builder Panel, select your folio and open the context menu and select Create App.

Note that as a CC customer, you can only build iPad applications. We do not support editing simple apps for the iPhone.

You can find our guide edition for useful simple editing, you can read it at http://help.adobe.com/en_US/ppcompdoc/Step_by_step_guide_to_dps_se.pdf.

What problems might you have that you think that an update might resolve itself?

Windows Photo Gallery is part of a suite called Windows Essentials (Live).

  • Dv4-1120us bricked by update of the HP Bios

Frédérique put I went to update the bios on my laptop as I previously without incident.  Well this time the update downloaded, installed and turned off Windows Vista 64-bit SP1.  After that nothing! The lights of power will light up, but that's all.  No HP, no MSFT screen no screen no nothing.  Honestly, I think that it is a bios update due to the update of the HP. It's the update, I installed: http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareDownloadIndex?softwareitem=ob-67379-1&lc=en&dlc=en&cc=us&...   Long story short HP support chat session has been very helpful and I will send a box to air next day prepaid to ship at his own expense to solve this problem.  Comments are welcome, but I highly recommend anyone with this laptop not to install this update! I have taken out the battery, dethroned the ram and others without any result.  I hope they can fix.

"The power of the dark side!

lordvader311, many of us brick already our dv4s with the last update of the bios HP but you can fix it yourself in a few minutes as follows

BTW, the credit for this goes to PONGSTER who told us all that...

    Change Note:

I edited the steps for the dv4-1140GO users. Moreover, the 1125nr, 1140go and the CQ45 seem to share the same room, as they use the exact same application BIOS flashing.  This bodes well for those of you who need to get theire fixed dv4, instead of send for repairs.  Don't forget, if you missed your BIOS, sending in for repairs is not the only solution, I discovered, after searching for all possible solutions.  Do the following before you send anything in repairs

I have a dv4-1125nr.  I'm not sure this will help, but you may as well try it before your sending for repair.  I have corrected my messed up BIOS update by following the exact steps, I'll describe here.  There is hope, and you don't need to have your motherboard replaced.  Just follow the instructions and you should be typing on your dv4 in no time.  It took me about 10 minutes, senior, to get all this fact.

    Here we go:

Good... Here are the exact steps I took to get my dv4 back in working order after a failed update BIOS using HPbuggy update (I just had to repeat what we already know... ) I simply cut and paste of 0,0 steps, so all credit goes to him and the engineering on this forum (http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=340079&page=3) (Bigozone) Acer section

Here's the exact model number and general specifications: dv4-1125nr, Intel Integrated Graphics 4500, blah-blah-blah-blah (all I had to determine was update the BIOS was necessary for my dv4 with integrated... graphics card later)

    1. go to this site: http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareList?os=2100&lc=en&dlc=en&cc=us&lang=en&product=3795301 and download the file: ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp41501-42000/sp41969.exe

    2. go where you downloaded the file and using 7 - Zip (or tool of your choice of course) unzip the contents to a folder of your choice. We'll get to that later, so keep this file open.

    3. I used a 128 MB USB Thumbdrive (the smallest I could find, because they said the smaller the better ) and reformatted as FAT (by default) in Vista by clicking with the right button on the drive and clicking on "format".

    4. now that my USB is ready, go back to the folder where you extracted the file to update the BIOS (always open to the right of the folder?)

    5. If you have the graphics card Intel integrated like me, copy the 30F7F24U. FD to the key USB and RENAME the file 30F7F24U. FD to 30F7. BIN

NOTE: the file 30F7F24U. FD is for those who have the Intel 4500 integrated video, while 30F7F24D. FD is for those who have the Nvida graphics.

Copy the appropriate file on the USB key, and then on the USB, rename it to 30F7. BIN

The next steps are to 0,0 exact steps, which I simply numbered him: (please follow the correct procedures here and 5 minutes from now, you'll be typing a response to this post on your currently borked dv4 )

6 unplug the adapter from the laptop.

7 remove the battery from the laptop.

8 insert the USB key into one of the USB ports on the laptop.
Does not seem to matter which.

    9. press the 'Windows' key and the 'B' key

    10. connected to the power adapter.

11 press the 'Power' button on the laptop.

    12. when the LED is entered, letting go of the power button / stop and the two keys down earlier.

    13. After about 10 seconds the notebook started to read the USB key. While searching for the file, the laptop beeps every seconds.
The number of beeps varied, depending on what size of the key USB has been and
the number of files on the USB key, a single beep for many.
If the file was not found, the laptop will restart and try again.

    14. If the file is found then it took about 12 seconds for the laptop to load. No beeps sound not heard during the loading time.

    15. when it is responsible for the laptop has started flashing, indicated by beeps every 2 seconds. It took about 32 seconds.

    16. about 5 seconds after the ringtone had stopped off the laptop computer.
    BIOS worked normally thereafter.

    My last step:

    17. dance of joy! Hehehe these instructions should be on the HP site, since they do not seem to bother to test the updates they push users (here I go again!)

Hope this helps all of us (it will help me when I mess up my BIOS Flash... hehehe)

  • Satellite Pro C660 bricked by update of the BIOS that failed

My sister asked me to update his laptop (Toshiba Satellite Pro C660-16N; The part number PSC0ME-01S00SEN) of Windows 7 Home Premium (64 bit) of Windows 8 (64-bit).
    So I did.

Then I went UK from Toshiba Web site to check if there are any drivers I had to install for Windows 8. The only one was an update of the BIOS (for BIOS v1.70). I don't know what was the previous BIOS version number.

So I run the update application in Windows 8. Phoenix WinPhlash Technologies starts and then in the middle of the update, everything freezes.

The trackpad would not move the cursor or anything like that. I had no choice but to disconnect the phone from the wall and remove the battery. The laptop is not under warranty.

Of course, now it won't turn. It will beep once when I press the power button, but the system does not light. A few minutes later, it looks like one long beep and two short beeps. It then keeps repeating this sequence every two minutes "one long beep, 2 short beeps".

I google and read the site after the blog after the post on the forum, but nothing works. Links to the software offered on these forums/blogs/Web sites in french are usually dead, so I can't try what they suggest.

The most common solution is the Phoenix crisis recovery tool. I managed to download v1.0.0.4 which is supposed to allow me to make a bootable USB key. The version of this tool that I downloaded is supposed to be for a Lenovo ThinkPad X 200. I have the correct BIOS.rom to C660 Pro Satellite (I renamed BIOS.wph and copied to the appropriate folder).

I followed all the instructions, but it doesn't seem to work. Some sites say if it happens, I have the wrong version of phlash16.exe. Some other sites say that HP Boot Disk USB Utility should be used, but I don't know how to use it.

What I really need, is a definitive step by step foolproof guide to know what to do, with links to the files/tools to use for this model of laptop. I will follow this blindly (which I don't really understand what makes each step, I just do it with no understanding,) so if anyone can help me with this, please write a guide like an idiot!

If anyone can help me with this, I appreciate it. I'm really in a difficult situation - I can't really afford to pay a Toshiba ASP to fix it, and I can't afford a new laptop certainly. But I also couldn't bring myself to tell my sister, ' it's broken, deal!

    Thanks in advance.

  • Re: Satellite Pro L40 - killed the laptop BIOS update

Recently I thought it would be better to download the latest drivers and upgrades for my Satellite pro L40 to keep up-to-date and partners the laptop that works smoothly. I couldn't have worse summer. Before I updated the new driver updates I thought it would be a good idea first update the Bios. So I downloaded the update of the Bios on the Toshiba site, unzipped the files and followed the online instructions for updating the BIOS. I double clicked on the BIOS file to run the update, the laptop says it was end the session, I waited and the Toshiba logo screen came. In the instructions, it says that I have to press F2 now and confirm that the date and time are correct. I should then press F9 to load all the default values and then press F10 to save and exit. At this point, the laptop must away to the loading screen, but... I got a black screen. IV turned off the computer and turn it back on, but still, I get a blank screen. The lights are on but know one's home.

Could a mod/staff/Board Toshiba administrator please explain to me why I'm going to draw the consequences of my lack full on my face because I followed a form of direct teaching of personnel of Toshiba or... Please get back to me as soon as POSSIBLE. My first son moments of life (videos, photos) are on this laptop. That cannot be replaced. Please tell me that the laptop can be fixed...

    Hello Durks

I'm really sorry to hear you I have this problem.
To be honest, it is not easy to discuss about this because a lot of people on this forum with a similar or same problem reacts quite aggressive if they don t hear exactly the thing they want to hear.

In any case, I just want to write my comment. Don t be worried about photos and other important data. You can remove the laptop HARD drive, put it in a small box of HDD SATA 2.5 and connect the HARD drive to the other PC / laptop as external device. You will have full access to all stored data. So you can do the backup.

    Update the BIOS.
What to say at this point?
I have checked the Toshiba download page and saw that the BIOS update is available for Windows XP Home edition and Vista pre-installed notebooks so I hope you ve chosen the right one. Anyway, it is not easy to fix screwed up in the BIOS. You hate me now, but I think you should contact the nearest Toshiba service provider and ask for help. Call them, explain the situation and ask what you can do about it.

I hope you will fix this laptop soon.

    Good luck.
