Annex WAG160N has v2 ADSL2 + Wireless Modem Router disconnecting at random intervals

The problem is that my WAG160N router v2 isolates at irregular intervals for no clear, obvious and clear reason. The router always reconnects to the Internet automatically, but we want to have stable internet connection so it does not interfere with our download and my game online. Sometimes, it will be disonnect once a day, two days, three days or more times a day.

This problem occurred for about nine months and we have tried to solve this problem for four months without success and very little progress.

There are nine devices connected to this router:

Desktop Mac (connected by an Ethernet cable)

MacBook Pro my mother (wireless)

My mother of Windows (wireless) laptop

My Iphone (wireless)

My mom (wireless) iPhone

Our Ipad (wireless)

Our printer (wireless)

My Xbox 360 (connected by an ethernet cable)

My PS3 (connected by an ethernet cable)

First of all, I contacted our ISP. They conducted tests on our phone line and there was no obvious abnormalities. They then made some adjustmenets to our connection, but none of the improvements to our stability of connection, either. I also did the isolation test which did not help. Then they came to the conclusion that this router is the source of the problem.

Then I noticed that when my Internet was disconnected we had active DHCP and it kept more than one of our devices, assigning the same IP address. On my desk he showed me an IP address conflict message whenever we have disconnected from the Internet. So I disabled the DHCP and manually assigned each device to their own individual IP addresses static. This has not fixed my problem even if there are more conflicts of IP addresses.

Then I tried to connect my computer directly to the WAG160N v2 via an ethernet cable, but each single device is always give themselves up randomly. Therefore, we have established that this problem occurs with the cable connections and wireless.

After that, I did some research on the Internet and made a lot of adjustments and modifications that do not stop this problem.

These including: lower the MTU to 1365, changing to channel wireless channels 1 and 6 (we were on channel 11), using a standard instead of a wide channel, lowering the keep alive - redial period from 30 seconds to 20 seconds, increasing the Redial period keep living to a maximum of 180 seconds, disable UPnP and disable the DHCP server on the router configuration page.

I have same Access Restriction is turned off.

I also checked with my ISP and we use the correct settings of Encapsualtion, multiplexing and Virtual Circuit.

So I thought I would post here because we really need to have this fixed a problem and we do not know how. I can't find the logic of why this is happening. This problem shouldn't be complicated.

Any help would be appreciated, thanks.

My Internet has not disconnected for a week.

Without reset and reconfigure my router, I did the following in the advanced wireless settings page:

Reduced from 100 to 75 beacon interval

Lowering of the threshold of Fragmentation of 2346 to 2306

Lowering of the 2346 to 2304 RTS threshold

I found this info from a different thread.

I'll post again less than a week and if my Internet connection is always stable, I will mark this message as my solution.

  • Connect AirPort Express to lemon (Rogers Rocket) Wireless Modem/Router

I just got Rogers Wireless internet new modem/router Hitron.  I use modem/router mode.  It's great. Very fast and a lot of range. Covers all 3 floors of my house.

I want to connect an Apple Terminal to my Hitron router with an ethernet cable and put the Hitron in Bridge mode. I want to continue to use the Hitron router as my main and only router.

However on another floor, I would use an Apple Airport Express connected to my stereo with a jack 1/8 '' to play my music wirelessly from my iTunes from Apple.

To do this, I need this Apple Airport Express Terminal to 'find' the Hitron router.  How can I get to find the router Hitron?

I guess that you have a current version or recent of the AirPort Express with the default settings.

As long as the AirPort Express is located where it can receive a strong signal of the modem/router...and wireless Hitron the Hitron aircraft provides a wireless signal that uses industry standard wireless settings, the AirPort Express can 'join' the wireless network. Wired Ethernet is not necessary.

Note that the AirPort Express will not "spread" or "repeat" the signal from the router/modem lemon to provide additional coverage of wireless signal wireless, but it can be used to join the wireless network and provide a signal of airtime for your stereo.

Simply use a Mac running a current or recent operating system, or an iPhone/iPad and configuration "Wizard" Apple to set up things upward. The wizard will automatically offer the correct configuration to 'join' the wireless network. All you really need to do is to enter a device name that you want to use for the AirPort Express and the password of the wireless network and confirm.

Start the wizard by clicking on AirPort Express under the title of the new AirPort base station.

On an iPhone or iPad, the screen looks like this:

In the example below, the wizard has detected a network named "2WIRE902" for the AirPort Express join. You will see the name of the wireless network that provides the Hitron modem/router on your screen. Just enter a name of device for the Express, then type the wireless network password, then type it again to verify.

Click next at the bottom right of the window and the AirPort Express displays a green light for a minute or two and you're done.

    Thanks for the reply.

That you want to connect to the desktop to a wireless router. The computer must have wireless capability. To do this, you may need to buy a wireless network adapter to connect to a wireless router.

  • TWC Modem/Router-with Apple Time Capsule extreme

Can someone find me on this configuration?

I'm trying to improve the coverage of the WiFi in my house and I'm trying to do so via an ethernet connection to two Capsules of time separate Apple.  One is an airport Time Capsule 802.11n (3rd generation/Firmware 7.6.4) and the other is a Time Capsule 802.11ac Airport (7.73 firmware).

I have a Time Warner cable wireless modem/router (Arris 860 has TG1672G). The configuration in the network for NAT settings is "RoutedWithNAT". I'm going out this modem/router via a ZyXel AV2000 HomePlug AV2 Powerline Gigabit Pass-Thru 2-port Ethernet Adapter (I have no ethernet strung in this particular room) in the AC of the Apple Time Capsule 802.11.  The configuration for that Time Capsule is Mode/Off/network wireless and network /Router Mode / Off (Bridge Mode).  The other Time Capsule has the same configuration.

That is the question... is the right way to get faster WiFi?  I realize by using the Homeplug may not help my cause, but I have to guess that it is faster to go wireless two correct time Capsules?

The issue I'm having is that it's slow and I can't understand why.

Thank you for the kind words.

I wanted to add a few things to this post...

I tested out the ZyXel ethernet to my MacBook Pro and ran a Speedtest.  He retired.  Very fast.

Here are the screenshots of my two time Capsules config and my modem/router from Time Warner.

In the meantime, here is the speed I get via radio... pretty dismal.

  • Lose OfficeJet 6500 Wi - Fi with the new DSL modem/router

This happened after replacing failed DSL with a NetGear N300 wireless modem/router. I was not to restore this connection through Windows 7 Control Panel settings (maybe I don't know which change it?). There is no problem with the connection to other PC - just this printer has the problem.

Any suggestions on the cause of this problem and the actions I can take to solve it will be appreciated.

    Thank you

    KM9999

OK, thanks for the clarification.  We will do this:

1 restart the modem/router by pulling its plug momentarily.

    2. on the front of the printer: Setup (wrench) > network > Restore Defaults.

    3. in the same network menu, run the Wireless Setup Wizard.  Follow the instructions.

Once the printer is connected to the network, remove and re-add the printer that I described above.

  • modem router WAG120N wireless security configuration

I use modem router wag120n but is confused abt how to set up wireless security of it is. Security Wireless Configuration recommended in tutorial given here is very different from what is given in my page of configuration routrs.

I don't know how to manage the key renewal option. If I leave as 3600 seconds does that mean that I have to enter my device a new key wireless connected to the router after every 1 hour?

Well well with firmware linksys/cisco security gateway wireless configuration seems even that is mentioned in the link provided: http://www6.nohold.net/Cisco2/ukp.aspx?pid=80&app=vw&vw=1&login=1&json=1&docid=7b0d8344c5524f75a8d5b... . But if in case it looks different let it me know what exactly what you see in the configuration page.

Group key renewal determines how many times your group exchange key. The renewal time should not be too short or too long. The default is 3600 seconds.

You don't have to deal with the renewal of key. It happens automatically. Customers do not lose connectivity, just the key for the changes of the connection. You won't notice. The longer the interval longer guarantee the link (in theory) as a striker who wants to break the encryption key has less time and less data to work on...

But once again: it does not affect customers wireless connected. It's all past automatically just as it happens when the connection is established in the first place.

  • Modem router Wireless N upgrade?

I have a Linksys BEFCMU10 ver.2 modem which has served us for about 8 years.  I've recently updated our wireless n router, but have seen no improvement in the coverage area or speed.  The seller in Microcenter told me that my current modem was fine, but I wonder if I need to improve my modem to take advantage of the N WiFi feature.  Another thing, I remember when the tech our cable connected to the modem, it added a 10/100 switch.  Can it be purchased?  The research I did on the forums, it seems that I need a compatible 10/100/1000 switch for the gigabit speed.

I apologize for the basic questions, but I tell myself that if I want to learn I have well start somewhere

    Thank you!

It is not question of cause I don't think you have 100Mpbs subscription from your ISP. This modem is good for home use. You will get your your router Wireless N speed and that's only within your local network.

  • HP deskjet 3052 has works on my wifi after I reset the printer / modem/router - but failed later

I had my HP Deskjet 3052 a work from PC, MAC, iphone / ipad on my Airlink wifi after a reset on the printer - router - modem.

It fails when I try to use it later in the day - unless I'm resting again.

Do I have to reset each time I print?

New modem/router solved my disconnect problem - but I still cannot connect my imac running Mac OS X 10.5.8.

I am connected to the wireless - i.e. - accesses the internet, I cannot connect deskjet - is told by the way now I hace a 3520e model - instead of the 3052.

  • Xfinity X 1 modem/router is compatible with the Airport Extreme? How it should be configured to maintain my wireless network?

I got a modem Comcast/Xfinity upgrade. Xfinity X 1 modem/router is compatible with the Airport Extreme? How it should be configured to maintain my wireless network?

Whenever you change the modem or modem/router on a network, AirPort Extreme will be reset to the default settings and then set it up again to work properly with the new modem. For this he would be...

Turn on AirPort Extreme for a few minutes... If it is not already turned on

Hold in the reset button on the back of the AirPort Extreme for 7-8 seconds, then release it.

Allow a minute for the AirPort Extreme restart to a slow, flashing amber light status

Make sure that an Ethernet cable connects to one of the four LAN <-->Ethernet ports on the modem/router on port WAN "O" on AirPort Extreme

To start the Setup program, click the WiFi icon at the top of the screen on your Mac and are looking for a list of the new AirPort base station

Just below that, click directly on the AirPort Extreme and then follow the prompts for configuration "Wizard".

When you configure AirPort Extreme once again, you can use the same wireless network name and the same password that you used with AirPort Extreme with the 'old' modem, if you wish, or use a new wireless network name and password

  • HP Deskjet 2542: Cannot print wireless Deskjet 2542 after installing the new modem/router

We have recently installed a new Netgear modem/router and have not been able to print wireless since installation. I tried everything I could find on the forum and still no luck. Any help will be appreciated.

Replacement/change your wireless router, try here.

    http://www.HP.com/global/au/en/wireless/reconfiguring-system-Help3.html

Make sure that your router is set to a fixed channel wireless as the 1, 6 or 11, never 'auto '.  Try each of the channels one at a time.  Make sure they are spaced at least 5 feet.

However, if you have a gateway device (modem + router), all gateway devices are terrible for connectivity and wireless performance.   If this does not work, suggest you put this bridge in full bridge mode device and install your own router of high quality that YOU have full control over.
