Original title: is this the right category?

I don't know even what category my question but here goes.  My CPU is still about 50-60%.  I will open another window to check my mail and it will jump up to 100%.  Sometimes I read a story and I'll type in a comment and it's like I had a little in my keyboard or something?  I'll hit a key and hit nothing.  I have to press the button again, then again and then he will type the letter.  I can't type normally because half of the letters will be absent, I have to press a button at a time and wait to see if the printed letter.  Sometimes whole window freezes just straight up.  You cannot close the window, go to one of the other tabs, it's just frozen.  I can open a new window and it will be fine but that frozen will be there right behind the new window I opened.  Some say that this is my keyboard but I'm here and it's good.  While some say that I have a virus or something but I used my Microsoft Security Essentials to scan and it says: there is nothing there?  Unfortunately, I do not know too much about computers.  I will probably not even be able to find the answer if someone replies to this?  Any ideas?

The file is fine, but you don't seem to have the problem of CPU when you ran the trace, because the CPU max usage for all processes was ~ 10%.  The largest user was iexplore to around 2%.

You must re - run it when your cpu is having the problem.

Previously, McAfee SecurityCenter has been installed on my pc, but it has been replaced by McAfee Total Protectiononce the subscription has expired. [It isunderlining] I remember getting a Norton trial software installed at a given moment, but this has been removed to make room for software McAfee, to ensure that there is no conflict between the programs.

You should have installed McAfee Total Protection before as your McAfee Security Center subscription expires. If you're lucky, the following may solve your problem:

    1. download the Norton Removal Tool, save it to your desktop: ftp://ftp.symantec.com/public/english_us_canada/removal_tools/Norton_Removal_Tool.exe

1B. download the tool McAfee Consumer Product Removal, save it to your desktop:http://download.mcafee.com/products/licensed/cust_support_patches/MCPR.exe

    2. close all open applications (that is, anything with an icon on the taskbar).

    3. right click on the file that you saved in # 1 above and select run as administrator to run the utility. DO TAP not your keyboard until the race ends, then restart.

    4. now run this triple McAfee fix: http://service.mcafee.com/FAQDocument.aspx?id=TS100507

[Note that you you already downloaded the removal tool in my # 1 step b above.] You will restart three times: after uninstalling McAfee Total Protection; After you run the removal tool; and then the reinstallation of McAfee Total Protection.]

    5. after reinstalling McAfee Total Protection, manually & repeatedly update the app until you get a prompt "no update more".

    6. for good measure an another Windows update reset (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/971058), restart once again & test.

I spoke several times with Norton. System Restore was successful a couple of times, but Norton that was in place during this period is no longer present. I'm exploited only in safe mode and do not know how this works, either; It's very limiting.  COMPUTER geeks have determined that no virus or hard drive interest. The computer is unbelievably slow without safe mode, as so well to exploit.  It started mid-October with a Windows Update.  Norton has been reinstalled and worked for several weeks until another Windows update.  I uninstalled and reinstalled Norton until I'm blue in the face and it's still wobbly.  Any help and suggestions would be so appreciated.  Thank you ~.

Try to set up your computer in a clean boot state, and then check to see if the same problem occurs.

I even spent a couple of hours to do all the stuff real validation work before today. That was the big thing that has kept the update does not not in XP, but I'm in a different world, now it seems.

OK, so he seemed to have solved this problem. After searching a lot more (also, I checked it with the guy on the office suite company and he said, it will be fine, apparently MS knows the codes when recording it) I discovered about two patches that I need to install. Here is the page that I used:

    https://www.WinHelp.us/reinstall-Windows-Update.html

Specifically, I read their advice and installed these two tasks: KB3083710 and KB3102810

The patch installed easily punch. Then restart. The second, however took about 12 hours to download and then install my old CPU to 100% for the duration. I don't know what it was all about, but it seems that the second patch is intended to stop precisely the moment of high CPU performance. Bottom line, it worked. I'm running round after the series of updates now, just the way the intended plant.

Thank you very much to everyone here who has helped me. I spent hours reading on this site, but it was worth it in the end.

  • Windows Update cannot currently check the updates, because the service is not running. But it is!

When you try to run windows update on my win7 box family premium, I get the following message: "Windows Update cannot currently check for updates, because the service is not running." You may have to restart your computer. »

    Steps has been involved:

    1. I restarted and even restored to the point when the last update was installed.

    2. I verified that the service is running and checked that there are no errors in the the event log for this issue.

    Any ideas?

    PA bear,

I solved the problem, apparently, some of the dll files becomes involved in the process of updating Windows and just need to be reassocie but for the analysis patterns below are the answers to your questions:

1 Win 7 Home Premium installation

    2 64 - bit OS

    3 avast! Full version

    4. no other anti-virus/anti-spyware has never been installed

    5. computer was custom built by me, destructive disk used on a new HDD before installing it so that it wasn't a possibility of always being on the disc software.

    6. I left on deployment (I'm in the army) and when I came back my wife told me that the PC was not able to download the updates since November of last year, so she switched off and left to me when I got home.

Thanks for the quick reply, I was just in the difficulty that I used while watching a few messages on another Web site.

  • Error code 80070490 while search/checking the Windows updates.

IHaving tried to solve a recent problem that occurs with Windows Update (error Code 80070490) I read and try different things that have been suggested on this forum. It appears after trying the SFC, there are a few problems with the registry that cannot be resolved automatically. I tried the automatic Microsoft difficulty he 50202 but that does not solve it. I tried a system restore, but there is no restore point before the update I managed successfully to do (31 October 2009). So finally, I tried the repair facility that suggest the majority of people. I've had this laptop since February 2009, and Vista was preinstalled. I have the DVD of resettlement for Vista Home Premium 32 BIT and have not added anything about myself, but when I try to do the upgrade to install it says it is disabled and that he needs at least a current version or the more recent than the version I am running. I don't see how it can be less common because it is the version that I've been running for 9 months and the DVD that I was sent with the laptop. I am now on the ideas and suggestions...

    Fraser,
Well restoring factory would correct any problems if they are strictly related to software.

If you do a normal upgrade to Windows 7 and the problems you are currently experiencing are the question within the registry, then it is likely that they could remain after the upgrade.  Now, if you perform a Custom Installation upgrade press she will move to your current Windows directory to a new folder (Windows.old) and then it will install properly.  Of course, with this option, you will need to reinstall your applications.
If you buy a copy of Windows 7 in another country just make sure that you get the correct language and that it is a valid copy.  (Also check the version of Windows.)  You shouldn't have any problems once you get back.  Here are some links with information about Windows 7 and upgrade considerations.

You are welcome & thank you for your comments. Mark one or more of my previous posts as RESPONSE will officially close your thread (if you care about things).

PS: I wouldn't vote USEFUL or two while you're there either.

These remnants of Norton seem to wreak havoc with Windows, so is there anything I can do, apart from [another application], change to avoid this problem in the future...?

If you want to stick with Norton, never ever upgrade to the new version (for example, from Norton 360 Norton 360 or Norton Security v23.x v23.x v22.x). Uninstall the current version, download/run a new copy of the removal of Norton & reboot tool and then do a clean install of the new version.

Or you can switch to another (paid or free) suite anti-virus/security applications (for example, free Microsoft Security Essentials - which will be supported at least until the Extended Support for Win7 ends January 14, 2020).
