any backup archivelog

Hello

What is the difference between all the backup archivelog and archivelog backup with rman.

You cannot issue a "BACKUP ARCHIVELOG' by itself. The syntax of 'archivelogRecordSpecifier' requires a specification for which ArchiveLogs supported upwards - for example 'ALL' or "until...". ' or 'FROM... '. "etc.

The only time that you do not have to specify the ArchiveLogs is when you use the 'PLUS ARCHIVELOG' to a 'BACKUP DATA base'

    Hello!

    How can I configure rman (11 g/Win2003) to keep my backups of database for 7 days and to remove all logs archiving before this backup without saving the archivelogs.

    I added 'DELETE OBSOLETE RECOVERY WINDOW 7 DAYS;' But with that archive logs are not deleted because I don't backup of archive logs.

    I need something like "REMOVE OBSOLETE but keep the backupsets for 7 days.

    I don't want to use "rman delete archivelog until the ' sysdate-1' ' because if the backup fails I don't want the deletion of archive logs.»

    Can someone help me?

    Kind regards
    Martin

    Why you don't want to backup archived redo logs? Note that in general you need to backup archived redo logs as a hot backup / online / incompatible must always archived redo when you are recovering.

    You can only configure 1 retention policy that will apply to all games backups (data files and recovery logs archived):

    configure retention policy to recovery window of 7 days;

    Running OBSOLETE DELETE will delete any backups older than the current RMAN political of retention.

    Hi, TTN97.

    Please visit Apple support communities.

    I you have see wish to participate in the beta of iOS software program and care about your data because it wasn't a backup prior to registration.  I have some good news!  Since iOS 9.2 is the most recent version, you just go through the following steps.

    Download the final version of iOS

    If you have a beta version of iOS and you want to download the final version, follow these steps:

    1. Connect your device to iTunes.
    2. When your device is connected, force it to restart. Press and hold buttons sleep/wake and Home at the same time. Don't release when you see the Apple logo. Keep now until you see the Recovery Mode screen.
    3. When asked, choose updates to download and install the latest version of iOS nonbeta.
      An update installation does not affect your settings or content.

    Even if these steps will not affect your content and settings, it is always recommended to create a backup [before any update.

  • Backup files Vista - "Windows could not find any backup sets [file path]."

    I have a Vista computer.  The hard drive broke so until I replaced it I backed up all the files on the computer to another computer running Windows 7. I did it in the backup and Restore Center.  I made a backup of files, not a full backup of the system (I've seen the full backup of the system mentioned in other posts, but that was not an option... maybe which is only available on Vista Premium).  In any case, I replaced the hard drive and then try to restore the files, but I get the message "Windows could not find any backup sets [file path]."  Anyone have any ideas?  Thank you.

    Here is an article on the restore procedure:http://www.vista4beginners.com/How-to-restore-files to make sure you do this right.  It's a selective restore of a full or selective backup (not a full restore from a full backup) - but since you did a full backup, it matches your process more closely than would a full restore.

    Here is an article on the advanced use of restoration (during normal restore does not work):http://www.mayankraichura.com/post/2009/08/06/Avdvanced-Restore-via-Windows-Vista-Backup-and-Restore-Center.aspx.

    4 choose "files from a backup made on a different computer.

    5. in the dialog box indicating "Select the location of the backup to restore", select "hard drive, CD or DVD...". »

    6. under the drop-down list box, select your drive/partition and continue

    7. If all the backups on your drive, it will show a list of them.

    8. in my case, he showed a backup, but in the backup location, it will show "backup location is not available."

    9. I was frustrated, but then I somehow just select this backup (Yes... even if he said that thebackup location is not available " ")

    11 guess what... no error!

    12. a window appeared asking me if I wanted to do a full restore, or I want to select specific folders or files.

    13. I selected the folders I wanted to restore and bingo... it their restored smoothly.

  • How to plan the backup archivelog in EM12c for a group

    I am aware that I can schedule a backup of archivelog to a single database, but it is recommended, or indeed only just backs up multiple databases is to consolidate upward under a group and then schedule a backup for that group.

    However, I think that Oracle can be left aside the backup archivelog to a group option. All that I can find a full or incremental backup option. Anyone know if it is possible to backup archivelog planned for a group?

    In addition, on a somewhat independent question;

    If I put in place a system of backup of 1st day of the month and incr full backup for the rest of the month and I have a retention time of 14 days, food will be possible after 15 days?

    You can schedule the backup archivelog as well as the full backup, there is a checkbox to do this, if it is enough for you. If you want to schedule a backup archivelog only you have the ability to create a multitasking job, with one step for each instance: Set rman environment and launch with the controls. That's the way I do my backups one after the other. But of course it is static, you must hardcode the instances in the work. There is no option to make backups only archivelog through em12c, at least not through the GUI.

    Regarding your backup problem:

    The recovery window tells rman to consider as possible, obsolete backups after 14 days. He still however will check that they are really obsolete. Your only full backup will become obsolete until you make a new. However, the incremental backup may become obsolete and deleted. RMAN was able to retrieve the instance with the full backup and the archivelogs, so the oldest incremental backup should be obsolete.

    You can ask rman which files are obsolete and explicitly specify the recovery window:

    RMAN > window recovery obsolete report 15 days;

  • Conflict with the L1 backup task backup ARCHIVELOG

    DB version: 11.2.0.4

    Platform: RHEL 6.3

    We have a backup archivelog that starts at 22:00 and an incremental backup that starts at 23:50.

    The backup archivelog usually ends at 23:00. But lately, he took more time. Sometimes, he finished only at 12:30, which is like 40minutes after the incremental backup is started. That is, backup Archivelog overlaps with the incremental backup.

    One of our colleagues has proposed adding 'FILESPERSET 1' to speed up the backup archivelog. So he changed the backup archivelog script of

    BACKUP FORMAT '% s_ %%t p_ manhArc_' ARCHIVELOG ALL DELETE all THE ENTRY;

    TO

    BACKUP FILESPERSET 1 FORMAT '% s_ %%t p_ manhArc_' ARCHIVELOG ALL DELETE all THE ENTRY;

    He gave the reason was that "this will prevent channels stuck with the unreachable archivelogs.

    Question1. Adds 'FILESPERSET 1' really useful in this scenario?

    Question2. 'FILESPERSET 1' in the archivelog script means 1 for each archivelog backup piece. Right? This means that a lot of backup in the backup media.

    The justification is not applicable.

    FILESPERSET 1 would not help you here.

    Each consisting of 1 ArchiveLog BackupSet would result in a very large number of BackupSets.  Your controlfile would have to create a lot more locations for BackupSets.

  • Should we backup Archivelogs special cold backups?

    B version: 11.2
    Version of the operating system: Solaris 5.10

    Here's the script that we use for ad-hoc cold backups. Is it necessary to take the backup of the archivelogs when we do the backup to cold?
    Size of the backup archivelog room is sometimes greater than the backup piece containing the full backup of the comic itself! Then lost too much disk space.

    The script that we use
    run
    {
    allocate channel t1 type disk;
    sql 'alter system archive log current';
    shutdown immediate;
    startup mount;
    backup  full database format='/mypath/ORCL_full_%U_%T.bkp' tag='ORCL_full';
    backup archivelog all tag='arch_bkp' format='/mypath/ORCL_BKP/arch_%U_%T.bkp' delete input;
    release channel t1;
    }

    Hello;

    A cold backup is a consistent state. If you do not have to save them. No new archived logs generated during the backup or if you're still OK.

    For other types of RMAN backup, you STILL want it. This ensures that backups of data taken when the command file is recoverable in a consistent state.

  • My backup archivelog never becomes obsolete for the deletion

    Hello

    I am running version 11.1.0.7.0 and backup using rman and tivoli backup as media management layer.

    I make daily backups for a week, weekly full backups for a month, complete monthly full backups kept for one year and annual full backups kept for 7 years.

    My general retention policy is 30 days:

    RMAN > show all.

    using the control file of the target instead of recovery catalog database
    RMAN settings for database with db_unique_name PRODPRIM are:
    CONFIGURE RETENTION POLICY to the WINDOW of RECOVERY OF 30 DAYS; *
    CONFIGURE BACKUP OPTIMIZATION
    SET UP DEFAULT DISK DEVICE TYPE;
    CONFIGURE CONTROLFILE AUTOBACKUP ON;
    CONFIGURE CONTROLFILE AUTOBACKUP FORMAT FOR DEVICE TYPE DISK TO "%F" # by default
    SET UP THE DEVICE TYPE DISK PARALLELISM 8 TYPE OF BACKUP TO COMPRESSED BACKUPSET;
    CONFIGURE BACKUP OF DATA TO DISK FILE TYPE DEVICE TO 1;
    CONFIGURE BACKUP ARCHIVELOG FOR DEVICE TYPE DISK TO 1; # by default
    CONFIGURE MAXSETSIZE TO UNLIMITED;
    CONFIGURE ENCRYPTION OF DATABASE # by default

    CONFIGURE COMPRESSION ALGORITHM 'BZIP2 '; # by default
    CONFIGURE ARCHIVELOG DELETION POLICY TO APPLIED ON ALL STANDBY;
    CONFIGURE SNAPSHOT CONTROLFILE NAME TO ' / oracle/PROD/db/tech_st/11.1.0/dbs/snapcf_PROD_PRIM.f';

    The daily backup script is as below:

    RMAN > print script prod_daily;

    printing stored script: prod_daily
    +{+
    allocate channel t1 type 'sbt_tape' parms 'ENV=(TDPO_usrFILE=/usr/tivoli/tsm/client/oracle/bin64/tdpo.usr) ';

    allocate channel t3 type 'sbt_tape' parms 'ENV=(TDPO_usrFILE=/usr/tivoli/tsm/client/oracle/bin64/tdpo.usr) ';

    delete noprompt expired archivelog all;

    This line: backup format + database "prod_dailybackup_ % d_ % s_ %t" keep until time = 'sysdate-7'-newspapers; I don't expect the archivelogs compulsory to recover from that backup backups will be kept and will expire when this backup expires.

    But when I list backup of archivelogs, I find archivelogs backups that were taken as early as next January, and the archivelog backups never get deleted or obsolete:

    10.2, you have to specify NEWSPAPERS.

    http://download.Oracle.com/docs/CD/B19306_01/backup.102/b14194/rcmsynta035.htm#sthref554

    However, 11.1 and above, it is NOT necessary and, I would say, must not be specified.

    You could test this in a test environment by doing a BACKUP... MAINTAIN a database that has a very small WINDOW of RETENTION.

  • During the backup archivelog backups online

    Hello

    Oracle 11.2.0.4

    Linux SLES 11 SP2

    During our backup window, some batches are executed generate an amount of redo. Completion of our hot backup, it backs up all records generated and removes all the. We are afraid to fill our archivelog files before the end of hot backup. It's going to be any problem if I back up and delete the archivelogs during the backup hot (using a different RMAN command)?  For the moment, we are unable to add space for the file archive system.

    These are the rman commands executed:

    If you delete the archivelogs that have not been funded until you lose the ability to recover your database using incremental backups hot. When you make a hot backup, you'll need archivelogs to recover data files to recover the database in a consistent state. As long as you have archivelogs in any backupset should not be a problem. Archivelogs are always in their own backupset. You can use additional settings when you perform the backup of the archivelogs, such as 'no saved' or 'skip inaccessible', in order to avoid the mistakes of rman backup.

  • recover the database by using the RMAN backup archivelogs

    Hello

    I tried to find the resolution of this problem in google a lot but couldn't find something useful.

    Location:

    We try to clone the dev environment of production that are completely on different servers and do not share a common mount point.
    Backup RMAN of PROD with RMAN as well as arch newspapers are kept in this mount point.
    We took control of backup files of PROD restored in DEV fired restore with recovery until a when not.
    Turns out that the sequence was not saved in right backupsets there if recovery has not requested more arch newspapers that are present in the PROD.
    Archs are stored in ASM and only way out is to take of RMAN backup of them.
    We control the file as a repository for RMAN.

    my questions are

    1. surely, I need to take backup of the control file after I take the log arch by RMAN backup and restore this file command in the DEV of so that when I start RMAN recovery in DEV, database will be able to find the backupset with arch newspapers. But the new restore a control file will delete the data files restored information?

    2. If we did not have a point of common Assembly and then after sending the backup destination elements how the database would be the locations of the game copied to the new location of the control file that is restored from the backup source?

    Suppose that in the source backups are stored in/backup/rman
    in destination copy us in/backup/clone
    in the PROD control file, their locations are saved in/backup/rman
    so if I restore this command file in custom DEV it find the elements of backup in/backup/rman?
    is it possible to save a backup of outside item in the control of a database file?

    3 al ' ASM, is there another way to extract the PROD archive logs and apply them to a cloned instance? (sending of newspapers without DR)

    The help is very appreciated.

    Kind regards
    Marjorie Dutta

    1. .... But the new restore a control file will delete the data files restored information?

    N ° provided that you do not have renamed, moved or abandoned any of the data files that were already copied in DEV. (also, subject that you did not add da new Production data between two backups - otherwise the new controlfile file will wait as datafile also to be present at DEV).
    You will do an incomplete recovery until a certain SNA / sequence # if information subsequent archivelogs beyond your point of recovery in the controlfile are redundant. In addition, a RESETLOGS would be done when you OPEN the database.

    2... how to know the locations of the game copied to the new location of the control file that is restored from the backup source database?

    What is the order CATALOG. In 9i, CATALOGUE could only of catalog datafilecopy. In 10g and more, you can BackupPieces CATALOGUER. Thus, it would "update" the controlfile (which is the RMAN Repository) with information about the BackupPieces that are present in a replacement / new location.
    See http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/B19306_01/backup.102/b14194/rcmsynta011.htm#sthref230

    3. ... ASM, is there another way to extract the PROD archive logs and apply them to a cloned instance?

    According to the version you are using, ASMCMD has a 'cp' command to copy the files from the DSO for the operating system. However, you cannot use ASM to apply directly the archivelogs. You always use the 'RECOVER' of RMAN or SQL command line command.

  • Backup and restore cannot find any backup sets.

    I had to reinstall windows 7 prof 64 using the original recovery partition and want to restore my data files that I had backed up using the backup and restore windows.  The files are on a network drive.  "When I run the restore I have 'Browse' the network choose the folder labeled" backup files aaaa-mm-jj xxxxxx "but it comes back with the error message: Windows could not find the backup sets on \\xxxxx please select a different location.

    Early research indicated it could be a permissions problem and the network drive is not a Microsoft Windows type disk I copied the folder and all the files on my C: drive and checked that they were all showing all permissions to all the users/system/everyone etc.  I tried again.  Same result.  I tried now selection of locations right differnet down the folder hierarchy (for example: in 'Catalogue' records and individual records date) but still get the same message.

    I realize that I could go in the individual zip files and restore everything manually, but the backup set has 9 different files and 525 zip datr files each with a tree long through the files of the hard disk C: before getting to the part of My Documents with data.

    It would be so much easier than Microsofts back/restore program does what it is supposed to do.  The only references I found in the web site of Support MS concerned questions of authorisation and in ensuring that the original folder is in the format "Yyyy-mm-dd of backup files xxxxxx"  I've done both.

    Any help gratefully received.

    Original title: restoration of Windows can't find the backup sets

    I solved the problem. It seems that, for a new installation (reinstallation of the operating system), it is necessary to set up a backup to the location of the original backup. After saving the new facility in the same place as the old backups, older backups are available to be applied.
