Open Control Panel > programs and features. Click on "Turn Windows features on or off" and scroll down to "features of media." Click the + to expand and put a tick in the box next to Windows DVD Maker. It may ask you your Win7 DVD. Once completed the installation, you may have to restart, but that's all.

I have the windows Director, went to Microsoft and tried to download Windows DVD maker but does not appear to have installed despite me try it 3 times, all I want to do is publish a movie!
On Vista, Windows DVD Maker requires that you have Windows Vista Home Premium or Windows Vista Ultimate Edition. If you have one of these versions, you should already have Windows DVD Maker and Windows Movie Maker 6.0. These versions of Windows Vista are required to have copies under license from MPEG-2 to make a video DVD.
I was not aware of a separate installer for Windows DVD Maker, so I suspect you look at something of a 3rd site part. If it is a Microsoft site, can provide you the address you use?

When I open Windows DVD Maker, I immediately get the following error dialog:
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
This application has requested the execution to end in a
unusual way.
For more information, contact the application support team.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
I've successfully opened all applications installed on my system. This error only DVD Maker.
I have also downloaded and installed or repaired every VC ++ redistributable between 2005 and 2012, the x 86 and x 64.
I always get the error message.
What should I try next?
-Terry
AH HA!
I finally solved this!
The culprit is a virtual CD drive. I have an installed application and allows me to mount a disk image file (.) (ISO) as a virtual drive. When I have a virtual disk mounted, I get error VC ++, but when I eject the virtual disk, so there is no more virtual drives, DVD Maker is happy.
Thanks for your help, Ronnie.
I hope that this discovery helps others!

Not able to add music downloaded to Windows DVD maker slide show
Music Windows DVD Maker problems
Cannot get my downloaded music to be recognised by Windows DVD Maker, when I try to add to the slideshow. Sample music (which came preloaded with the computer) is the only music he recognizes when I go to add music. I guess it's a problem of recognition of format, but I don't know how to download in a format that will work.

Might be worth trying to convert your music files to the
format .wma before importing in creation of DVD.There are to many free converters available on the net...
download from Koyotesoft is an example:(FWIW... it's always a good idea to create a system)
Restore point before installing software or updates)Koyotesoft "Free MP3 WMA Converter".
http://www.koyotesoft.com/indexEn.html
(FWIW if you install the converter, you can uncheck
offerings from Yahoo and Dealio) (also... you can uncheck
the CD Ripper and Easy MP3 Cutter)After installing the program... open and drag and drop
your audio files on the main screen...Choose a backup folder (path of output). Or just leave...
"Save to the directory the file" checked and the new
files will be saved in the folder with the current files.Choose a format...
Left, click Convert.

Hello- This happens with each burning or movie files?
You can follow below link that can help you to solve your problem: -
I made a movie in Windows Movie Maker using film 8 mm which was transferred to the files. The film came out great but when I go to 'release', or burn to dvd, it says Windows Movie Maker will save file and open it in creation of DVD to burn/publish. About halfway through the movie, there is no 8 mm video, you can see all the titles, and hear the music that I edited in but no video. I cut the video in half thinking there was too much data, I burned my movie with no other programs running, I changed all the transitions and titles in thinking that you might have a glitch. I have burned about 10 films try something different each time without success. Help!
Hi girl Jeffs.
I suggest you try the following steps:
Step 1: This question could be associated with video filters in windows movie maker:
Create a movie with reporters off and then try to publish
To turn off the filters, follow these steps:
In windows movie maker
1. click on Toolsand then click Options.
2. click on the compatibility tab.
3. to turn off a filter, clear the check box next to the name of the video filter.
See the link below for more information on the audio filters video\

VHS to DVD on Windows DVD Maker
Should which device I plug my DVD player to the computer to convert my movies at home using Windows DVD Maker?
I have Windows Vista and you may not use the answer to another answer which requires Windows 2000 or XP.
I thought to buy a video capture device to help with the process, have a VCR, have my laptop and an external DVD burner if it's useful. While doing research I read about creating Windows DVD and thought I could use it, but with the capture device is necessary. It will help me to improve my video transfer or do I have to use one or the other?
Thanks for your help, in any way possible.

Good then it's perhaps insoluble, but I can find more Windows DVD Maker on my computer. When I open the start menu and select all programs, it's not here. Is it possible to uninstall this program? If I managed to do is there any way I can restore it on my computer?
Hello xDUngeoNMastERx,
Thank you for visiting the website of Microsoft Windows Vista Community.
Windows DVD creation is located in %ProgramFiles%\Movie Maker\DVDMaker.exe. You should be able to create a shortcut icon and place it in the start menu. If this isn't the case, then I suggest you do a restore of the system to date, the program has been lost.
This should answer your question or solve your problem.
I hope the information is useful.
Kind regards
