  PS: XMP is a file format (=. The XMP files) or a metadata format that can be incorporated into one. XMP file or in the raw itself?

  You can not save the metadata directly in the raw file in Lightroom. You only can it save to a file, XMP - one text file with XMP as well as its file extension containing data that is written to the XMP format.

  To avoid the sidecar files, plan to convert your raw files to DNG. Metadata is written to these files in XMP format, but inside the DNG format.

  Please go to the preferences > workspace and uncheck the option 'open the document in the tabs '.

  

  Now you can click on file and choose file > open and open the two images in two different windows which can be arranged side by side.

• I downloaded LR CC to my new computer, but now all my images appear in my parent folder, instead of subfolders as was the case before, when my parent folders were subfolders with my RAW files and my parent folder was nothing until I saved my processed

  After you download LR CC on my new computer running Windows 10 (from WIN 7) my parents and subfolders files appear as that which means that although I can still see my subfolders they are linked in the folder of my parents so I can't have a parent folder. Does anyone know how to fix this?

  I'm not sure I understand the problem. However, in the library menu, there is an option to show pictures in subfolders. If this option is checked, and then click the folder in the foreground will show all images in subfolders. If you do not want this behavior, then uncheck this option. If this isn't the problem that you are experiencing, please describe in more detail and possibly include a screenshot.

  In the Windows Viewer you watch one embedded JPG which seems OK.

  In Lightroom, you see the raw NEF and all the corruption.

  You probably have a hardware fault camera, card reader, USB cable, hard drive failure.

  So, I tried to group my many discs USB hard and mixed windows and laptops mac and positions work to bring together all the stuff of photography.  In its current form, I have almost 1 TB of data going back to 2000 when I started digital photography seriously.

  It became difficult to store the amount of data and access obviously, as even my Macbook Pro has just 1 TB SSD as a maximum to be shared between several different things like music, video editing, work stuff and photography.

  The iCloud of Apple and Google Drive offers 1 TB of storage $ 10 per month!  This is an amazing deal!  I don't think people appreciate how amazing of a price that is.  Even if you buy enough Dell servers for installation in a datacenter and same lease/finance these servers for 3 years and break down the costs down to monthly, you always can not easily get under box $ 0.035 - 45.  Pricing Apple and Google has data in a cloud which, in the case of Google, is also geographically dispersed and has at least 3 copies of the data (it's a fairly reliable design) and $10 for 1 TB per month, we talk in the price range of $0.01 per GB 1.  So price wise and reliability wise, I am convinced that my data are both safe and inexpensive in terms of overall convenience to keep up with Google and Apple at this price.

  I wish Adobe would have same price... maybe they will in the future to come, but as far as I can tell, it's 2 GB or 20 GB and it will not cut it... unless someone knows how to order 1 TB of Adobe and how much it costs?

  Which brings me to the next point... I think that may be the best option at this stage would be a mixed solution.  Where the data will see in iCloud Apple drive so that you can access directly to RAW files, or even something using Google Reader.  While you need to edit files, pull them into Adobe Creative Cloud applications and change them like that.

  Did someone done before?  I wonder which works better in a workflow?  And what problems/things to look out for?

• Make the default program of lightroom for raw files

  I bought Lightroom 5 after the expiry of the trial version.  (I think that the version was 5.2, not sure.)  I had the real DVD with the activation code on the box.

  Current operating system is Windows 7.

  At first, I ran the internet updates (had a little trouble with the opening of DVD) and it loaded version 5.5, and I used the activation code.  Everything was fine, but when I try to open a raw (Sony/.arw extension) file, it gives me the possibility to use Lightroom as default program for this action.  He doesn't show any program, and when I go to browse and select it, it will always come to the top.

  So, I uninstalled everything, rebooted etc., then load the DVD and the DVD got to work this time.  Again, I think that the 5.2 version came.  A to assign .arw files to Lightroom and - no problem.  Lightroom is presented as a program, as it had not before.  I then ran the update again to 5.5, and I'm running in exactly the same thing, where I can't fix LR as default.  Maybe the registry is not fair?  He just sees is more like a program in the option 'Open with' Lightroom (when I reinstalled, it wiped out the 'open with LR' I had attached the files.)  I can open Lightroom itself very well, but I can not simply by clicking on a raw file and open it.

  Any ideas on how to solve this problem and why the earlier version was correct, but the update wiped out the 'Open with' option?

  It is very common that LR should open pictures.

  What happens is that LR opens LR catalogs, not images.  The images are imported after that LR started upward.  You can double-click a LR catalog, a .lrcat, a file, or you can drag - move a file of LR catalog on LR icon and either will open LR, but that's all.  If you have already opened an image with LR it would hang and be hard to fix.

  I think maybe LR 1.x would automatically import images if you dragged their make, but which closed several versions ago.

  LR can also be set to open when you insert a memory card, via a checkbox in the preferences.

  You can also open LR via a shortcut, and then drag and drop a folder on the area of the main image in library mode and which will initiate an import.  It's actually what I'm doing for each import.

  The list shows what version of Photoshop is required for each camera model. Everything simply because it's on the list, does not mean that is supported by your version of Photoshop.

  There are essentially 4 different solutions to this common problem with the older PES software:

  (1) upgrade to the latest version 14;  It's not free.

  (2) the software should come with your camera and download pictures on your computer;

  (3) your operating system may have some updates to download images from your camera.

  (4) use Adobe DNG converter and it is still free.  The latest version is:

  The 1200D was first supported in camera Raw 8.4 that is only compatible with PSE 12 and following. Not PSE11 which is only compatible up to 7.4 Raw.

  Options:

  1. Upgrade to PSE14, or
  2. Free option: download the free Adobe DNG converter, convert all 1200D to DNG Raw files, then change the DNG files in PSE11. An extra step for you, but no extra costs.

• Cannot complete the preview. There is not enough memory. ID = - 108

  We run CS5.

  One of our customers sent us a file they would like printed.  The file is 1 MB in size and format PDF - nothing unusual about any of this.  As usual, I saved the file and tried to open it in Illustrator to put up a test for our client, and check and make sure the file is print-ready.  I received the error message: "cannot complete preview.  There is not enough memory. ID = - 108".  I press OK and it opens an empty file with some benchmarks of this crop.

  I tried to find a solution online, but all who have this problem seems to have virtually no RAM.  I am currently running on a computer brand new with Windows 7, 16 GB of RAM and Intel Core i7 processor.  I didn't think my RAM or cache have been the problem, but just to be safe, I turned off the computer, let it rest for a few minutes and it starts again.  The same problem.

  I am able to open the file in Photoshop and Acrobat - but even when I save the file in a lower resolution and turn it into a jpeg file, it will not always be open.  I get the same error.

  I need to be able to work with this file.  How can I solve this?

When you try to transfer these RAW files and keep them in the form of RAW files on an external hard drive, the files themselves simply to the jpg. did someone knows how I can get these RAW files off my hard drive to an external hard drive, but keep them RAW and their original size?   TO export RAW files you select them in iPhoto and export (menu, file == > export) using the type is an original option - see export from iPhoto for more details on the options

  as to get them off you primary drive - you can't, unless you remove them form iPhoto and empty iPhoto trash and trash system - iPHoto must always have access to the original to work

  Camera RAW is more of a 'concept' as a specific standard.   The idea behind a RAW file, is that the unloaded data in the chip will not be altered in a way that results in a loss of original data.

  JPEG images using a compression algorithm "with losses" that standardize data when the differences are so subtle as your eye probably would not have noticed the difference.  But when images are adjusted, subtle differences can be "stretched" and the loss of the original data can affect the ability to adjust the image later and still get good results.

  BUT... as all the cameras may have a sensor of difference, at different resolutions, etc. the method necessary to decode a RAW file and display the image may be different literally on a model by model basis.  When you work with RAW files, you must always the specific codec that very model camera... not just "any". CR2 codec will work.  It is the same with all other brands of cameras as well.

  Microsoft does not include updates to camera RAW in the default value of the OS updates that you can apply to your computer on a regular basis (Apple made... every two months, I get a camera RAW update and if I read the notes, it will have a list of the new camera models on the market for which they have added RAW support).    But Microsoft DOES make the FIRST available updates... they are just not automatic.  Go download and install them.
