Are emails deleted when a system restore is done under Vista?

Help!
Are e-mails from each user account when a system restore is performed? I backed up all the files, but I fear that the thousands of emails I have in several different user accounts may be deleted during the restore process. What will happen?

Thanks for your help
Willy

Willy,

Using the restore of the system does not remove e-mail messages.

For the last few weeks, I deal with an inability to install new programs in Vista, and I was unable to open the system or iTunes restore not in Mode without failure.  I can't install the windows updates that were downloaded, nor my laptop (Sony Vaio VGN-CS215J) will close properly.  I tried the system restore and used to let me open for a bit, but now iTunes that no longer works.  Occasionally, when my computer starts, it loads only for blacks and not go any further.  I run Kaspersky Anti-virus and used to run Spybot S & D (which is more open) and can't find anything that will solve this problem.  I can't properly download/install updates http://www.microsoft.com/windows/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=5a58b56f-60b6-4412-95b9-54d056d6f9f4 and delete the temporary files have not helped.  I don't know if I have a lemon of a computer or what happened, but any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Hello CWilson13,

Welcome to the Microsoft Windows Vista Forum.

I would like to ask you a few questions.

1 > what happen when you try to restore the system to normal mode?

2 > are you an error when you try to install updates from windows update?

3 > you get an error during the installation of other programs?

About the judgment issue please check if you are able to stop the laptop in safe mode correctly. If Yes, then we must verify the issue by performing a clean boot. Clean boot will help us understand if the problem is due to third and put into service or services.

The steps to do a clean boot is given in this link:

    www.support.Microsoft.com/kb/331796

You can also download the latest pack of windows install 4.5 and try to install programs.

The link for windows install 4.5 is:

Regarding the Itunes I suggest to uninstall Itunes and Quick time to the computer and download the latest being and install it after installing windows install 4.5.

I hope this helps. Please let me know about the results so that I can help you.

  • All my files are gone after doing a system restore

Tuesday, I spotted that I was behind on my updates so be fairly busy told windows draft.exe all and he then installed.
When I came back to my computer (after the restart). I found that windows had created a new user, Temp. On this temp Itunes was not installed and none were anything else.
I got itunes to add the library again and I continued a bit annoyed with Vista
Then I noticed that my hard drive was packed even if I had loads of free space. So I decided to do a system restore.
He got rid of the Temp and in the process most of my files.
After much research, I decided to cancel the restoration of the system think that logically it that would result is error.
    Bad...
Cancellation of the restoration of the system made the rest of my files disappear.

I'm no expert, but I do not think that my files were gone I believe that something has happened in the root directory (hope only maybe blind).
When I search for my vista documents found, but if clicked told me that the item that this shortcut refers to has been changed or moved, so this shortcut no longer works correctly.

    If anyone can help?

    Hello

You can try some third-party data recovery software which is available free on the Net and try to recover the lost files. You can access the link below and download the file and check if the files can be recovered.

  • IPod Touch App data files are saved by the XP system restore?

I lost the data files for the applications on my iPod Touch after a BSOD on XP so that the update to iTunes.

"Restore from backup" in iTunes restores only the empty files, due to him having a synchronization since the failure (iTunes replaces its unique to each sync backup file), so I'm now scrambling for an alternative.

What seems to offer the best chance is to do a system restore XP from a restore before the BSOD Point - but I don't know if the Restore Point contains a version of the iPod data files, which are stored in the hidden folder C:\\Documents and Settings\ (username) \Application Data\Apple Computer\MobileSync\Backup.

I found a note saying: the XP System Restore saves nothing of My Documents, but wonder if it means really nothing is recorded in Documents and Settings...

Can someone enlighten me as to the probability of the iPod Touch App data being in a Restore Point, please?

    Hi BrianCrabtree,

I suggest you to send your request to apple support because the problem is with IPod touch applications.

  • Unable to connect to the internet after the system restore and Windows Installer (Vista)

    Hello

I have recently restored the whole system on the HP to my sister a virus that I was unable to remove it manually.
The system restore went well until it has reached the point where he was going to reinstall Windows. The computer just turned itself off and the software installation was not complete. I am able to reinstall again. I must therefore hold the CTRL + alt + delete, go to Task Manager, click on audit.exe and complete the process to turn on the computer. But I can't do anything with it in safe mode. The main problem is: I can't connect to the internet! Even if the network discovery is on it will not find my wireless network. What can I do on the internet? And is it possible to install Windows again without the CD?
    Thanks in advance!

    Hello

    ·        You are able to boot to the desktop in normal mode? If this isn't the case, then you get any code or message?

    ·        How did you did system restore?

    ·        Are you referring to the system recovery using the recovery partition or the drive?

I suggest that you start in safe mode with network and check if you can access the internet?

  • System restore lost, don't visit a support site

I was recently looking at google and you have clicked on a number of Web sites (open in the window of the tab), and then in about 30 seconds my computer beginner and I knew I had a virus. So I'm going to the my system restore and try to restore but all my restore points disappear up until this day.

Well I get pop up windows and when I googled some sites it will charge the support page.

Is there a way to retrieve my restore points? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

The first step would be to get rid of all that is the source of the problem.

Try scans with both of these programs in the following order:

Please disable other security software that may cause conflicts with the scans.

Instructions on how to do that are HERE.

Please download for your desktop Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware here or here

Double-click on mbam - setup.exe to install the application.

    • Make sure that a check mark is placed next to the Update Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware and launch of Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware, and then click Finish.
    • If an update is found, it will download and install the latest version.
    • Once the program has loaded, select "perform quick scan", then click scan.
    • The analysis may take some time at the end, so please be patient.
    • When the scan is complete, click OK, and then view the results to view the results.
    • Make sure that everything is checked
      Click Remove selected.
    • End of disinfection, a log will open in Notepad and you may be prompted to restart. (See additional Note)
    • The log is automatically saved by MBAM and can be viewed by clicking the Logs tab in MBAM.

    Additional notes:
If MBAM finds a file that is difficult to remove, you will be presented with 1 of 2 prompt, click OK to either and let MBAM proceed with the disinfection, if asked to restart the computer, you can do so immediately.
    * If you cannot download or install MBAM on your computer, see if you can use the computer to a friend or family member to download MBAM. Use this link to update here to manually download the update. Once downloaded, rename the Setup file "mbam - setup.exe" to something like "catchjunk.exe". Copy the installation file and the update on a CD or a flash drive file. Transfer the file on the infected computer. Install the "catchjunk.exe" file, and then run the update so that you get the current definitions. After that, run a full scan of the system and select to have the program REMOVE everything it finds.

Download and scan with Super Anti-Spyware free for individuals. It is available HERE:
    * Double-click on SUPERAntiSypware.exe and use the default settings for the installation.
    * An icon will be created on your desktop. Double-click this icon to start the program.
    * If it is asked to update the program definitions, click "Yes." If this isn't the case, update the definitions before scanning them by selecting 'Check for Updates. (If you have problems downloading updates, download and unzip them from heremanually.)

If the automated voice gives you an option to speak to a representative of Activation Live, select this option. If this is not the case, do not enter all the numbers. This should force the voice automated transfer you to a Live Activation Rep. trying to activate through the automated voice will not work, in your case, your Activation will be successful only through the Live Activation Rep.
