Are pre-existing registry entries overwritten by the installer?

I was wondering what happens when creating a distribution installer that creates registry keys, but keys already exist on the target computer when the Setup program is run.  Change the keys to existing registry or the installer will skip them?

Thank you.

I think that they get too wrote.

You do not get file or revision based on components with the CVI distribution Publisher: If the version of the installation is more recent than what was last used to install the application, it will overwrite everything in the distribution, even if later versions of the separate elements are present on the target.

Distribution tools more efficient (for example InstllShield) can you give the desired probably behavior.

I don't think the individual registry entries to wear a version on them: common practice is to use a different set of registry values for a more recent demand, not revised version of the keys and values.

  • Registry entry to force the installation of the updates of the player?

    Greetings!

I tried to deploy updates to the reader through our network via GPO, but it has been a real, real problem. In addition, because some client computers are connected through slow links at the time of installation is sometimes excruciatingly long (configured computer GPO).

SMS is not an option right now, so I think that rather than use GPOS to manage centrally the drive updates I lower my arms and leave the choice to the users. So my question is if there is some sort of a registry setting which will force the Player updates to install once they are downloaded from the Internet. Or, Alternatively, if it is a kind of login script available which would check if there's a player update available for installation and install it by force. Or, Alternatively, if anyone has found a better way to deal with the nightmare of the Reader GPO deployment.

    Hello

Well, as you said, GPO would have been the best option to update through a corporate network. You can view the guide at http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/837/cpsid_83709/attachments/Acrobat_Enterprise_Administration.pdf. It can give you some more tips on how to maybe change your settings in order to ensure a quick installation.

As your second question, you can use the option "Install updates automatically" for the Player update, which automatically installs updates as and when it downloads everything. The registry entry to set the same is as below:

    Before Reader 10.1:

    [HKLM] \Software\Adobe\Adobe ARM\1.0\ARM\

    Name: iCheck (DWORD)

    Value: 3

    Post Reader 10.1:

    [HKLM] \Software\Adobe\Adobe ARM\1.0\ARM\

    Name: iCheckReader (DWORD)

    Value: 3

You can set the same using a script for connection via GPO. This will ensure that all as updates and available will settle as soon as its downloaded, provided no process of the drive is running at this time here.

For more details on all the configurations on update preferences, please see the following document:

Are windows puts an administrator account during the installation?  I'm the only admin user on windows, but I can't do much like I said I need admin which remove, access or open the files.

    I use windows 7

    Original title: Admin account

You must be an administrator, because the first account you create during Setup must be an administrator-level account.  There is also a built-in account (with a current name 'administrator'), but it is disabled, unless you are in Safe Mode (restart hold F8 for safe mode).  As soon as the integrated, you can sign in and upgrade your real account on a daily basis at the level of administrator control panel.

Note: even if you are an administrator, some processes will ask confirmation continue.  This is recommended because it prevents the virus of piracy of your profile and using your account.

I suggest that you run the Microsoft Genuine Advantage diagnostic tool in normal mode (not safe mode) and copy and paste the results into a response for further analysis:

    http://go.Microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=52012

Run the tool and when it ends, click the copy button, open a text such as Word or Notepad file and select Edit, paste. You can paste directly into an answer here. Open a response, right click and select Paste.

This immediately gives you the product key, but it might help to show the way forward.

I recently installed your room and now my ringtones are all silent. I uninstalled your room (I had never even tried one of their tones), but I still have everything I get now is vibrate even if I put my profile for Loud. I went to the file responsible for pre ringtones and even if they are all there, they have no sound. They are all listed at 0:00 duration.

It sounds like what you have bought is a third-party add-on for Microsoft Flight Simulator. If that's what you have, it will not work as a standalone program and it can not be installed without its own version of the flight simulator designed for already installed. In order to launch this module, you will have everything first purchase and install the Microsoft Flight Simulator.

  • Bugs in the installer

I met a problem reinstalling SOA Suite on a Windows XP laptop 11.1.1.4. In confirmation of the Installer page, I see that all SOA applications and libraries have target under AdminServer. I can change it manually, but I don't know how it happened and what is the exact list of libraries/apps that must be deployed to the AdminServer soa_server1 vs.

After you run the installation program, I noticed that the workspace of BPM (and all the other apps/libraries soa) has been deployed on the AdminServer, not the managed server soa_server1. Soa_server1 was created and I managed to start it, but it contains no libraries SOA. I uninstalled all of the FMW components and also uninstalled WebCenter and UCM. Now, I'm doing a fresh install / default on the same machine. When executing the config for WebLogic domain, I chose to manually configure managed servers, Clusters and Machines. The default settings were empty. So, I had to manually enter settings LocalMachine, localhost and soa_server1. I moved also soa_server1 in the LocalMachine store. Soa-infra still, the components are deployed to the AdminServer as shown in the installation confirmation page.

Anyone encountered this problem? What can I do to fix it on this laptop from Windows XP? Uninstall/reinstall simple SOA Suite 11 g has not helped. In confirmation of the Installer page, I see that all SOA applications and libraries have target under AdminServer. I need to erase the Windows registry entries so that the installer will use the normal deployment targets? I would like your advice please. It could be that my laptop has been "broken" by the WebCenter or the University Complutense of MADRID because I don't have this problem before installing the UCM.

    Thank you

Yes, I've selected the model of developers for SOA and BPM. That's why I forced on me stitching deployment?

Yes, that's the reason. Models of developers are designed for guests of low memory and based on the single server configuration. If you have cluster configuration, and then select regular patterns when creating the domain.

  • deleted registry entry

I deleted a registry entry while trying to get rid of some spyware.  Stupidly, I failed to export first, so I can't restore the registry.  The deletion has only caused a problem:

When I try to open an executable file by double-clicking or by right click and select 'Open', I get an error message saying: "there is no program associated with this file to perform this action."

If I click with the right button on the program or shortcut and select "Start" it starts very well.

Can someone tell me what was the registry entry that tells the computer that double-clicking an exe file means to launch?

To identify storage needs for the use of Automatic Storage Management, you must determine the number of devices and the amount of free space on the drive you need. To perform this task:
    1. determine if you want to use Automatic Storage Management for Oracle database files, recovery of files or both.
    Note:
You don't have to use the same storage mechanism for Oracle database and file recovery files. You can use a file system for one type of Automatic Storage Management and file for each other.
If you choose to enable automatic backups and you don't have a system of shared files available, you must choose Automatic Storage Management for the storage of files recovery.
If you plan to activate backups automated installation, then you can Automatic Storage Management as storage of file recovery mechanism by specifying a group of Automatic Storage Management disk for fast recovery area. Depending on how you choose to create a database during installation, you have the following options:
o If you select an installation method that runs Oracle Automatic Storage Management Configuration Wizard in interactive mode, you can decide if you want to use the same disk group Automatic Storage Management for data files and recovery files, or you can choose to use groups of different record for each file type. Ideally, you should create separate Automatic Storage Management disk groups for the data files and recovery files.
The choice is available if you are using Oracle Database Configuration Wizard after the installation to create a database.
o If you select a type of installation that works Automatic Storage Management Assistant de Configuration Oracle silent mode or in answer file mode, then you must use the same disk group Automatic Storage Management for data files and recovery files.
    2. choose the level of redundancy of automatic storage management you want to use for each Automatic Storage Management disk group that you create.
The level of redundancy you choose for the Automatic Storage Management disk group determines how Automatic Storage Management reflects the disk group files and determines the number of disks and the amount of disk space you need, as follows:
    o external redundancy
This option does not Automatic Storage Management reflect the content of the disk group. Oracle recommends that you select this redundancy when the disk group contains devices, such as the RAID devices, which protect their own data or when the database does not require uninterrupted access to data.
    o Normal dismissal
To optimize performance and reliability in a group of disks in normal redundancy, Automatic Storage Management uses two-way mirroring for three-way mirroring for the default control files and data files. In addition, you can choose the features of mirroring for individual files in a disk group. You can also use the bidirectional or not mirror mirrored.
A normal redundancy disk group requires a minimum of two groups of failure (or two drive devices) If you use two-way mirroring. Effective space in a disk of normal redundancy group is half of the sum of the space in all of its features.
For most installations, Oracle recommends to use normal redundancy disk groups.
    o high redundancy
The contents of the disk group is three lanes in reverse by default. To create a disk with high redundancy group, you must specify at least three groups of failure (a minimum of 3 devices).
Although disk groups high redundancy offer a high level of data protection, you must take into account the higher cost of additional storage devices before you decide to use this level of redundancy.
    3. determine the total amount of disk space you need for database files and recovery files.
If an Automatic Storage Management instance is already running on the system, you can use an existing disk group to meet these needs of storage. If necessary, you can add disks to a group of existing installation drive.
Use the following table to determine the minimum number of disks and space of minimum disc required for installation:
The two Types of files the files number Minimum level of redundancy of records data files recovery
    External 1 GB GB 5.4 GB 3.6 1.8
    Normal 2 3.6 GB GB 7.2 10.8 GB
    High 3 5.4 GB GB 10.8 16.2 GB

    4. If necessary, identify the groups of failure for devices of Automatic Storage Management disk group.
If you plan to use a normal or high redundancy disk group, you can further protect the database against hardware failures by combining a set of disk devices in a custom group failure. By default, each unit includes its failure. However, if two drive devices in a group of normal redundancy disks are attached to the same SCSI controller, then the disk group would become unavailable if the controller fails. The controller in this example is a single point of failure.
To avoid failures of this type, you can use two controllers SCSI, each with two discs and define a group of failure for the drives attached to each controller. This configuration would allow the disk group to tolerate the failure of a SCSI controller.
    Note:
If you set custom failure groups, you must specify a normal minimum of two groups of failure for redundancy disk groups and three groups failed for disk groups high redundancy.
    5. If you are sure that a suitable disk group does not exist on the system, then install or identify the drive devices appropriate to add a new disk group. Apply the following guidelines when identifying the appropriate drive devices:
o disc devices must belong to the user who performs the installation of the grid.
o all devices in an Automatic Storage Management disk group must be the same size and have the same performance characteristics.
o do not specify several partitions on a single physical disk as a disk device group. Automatic Storage Management expects that each device group on a separate physical disk drive.
o Oracle does not recommend the use of a logical volume as a device of automatic storage management, because the logical volume is able to hide the physical disk architecture that prevents Automatic Storage Management of I/O optimization across physical devices.

Problem: I am trying to install a driver for an Epson scanner update.  I get the error message: could not copy files.  Make sure that the target disk is not read-only.

I'm running Windows XP Home edition.  Scanner is an Epson Perfection V500 Photo.

    What I did:

    • A release with the support of Epson.  They tell me that I have the admin rights.  However, I am the administrator and log on as administrator
    • I downloaded the epson driver update, which is an executable zip file.  I right-click on the file, select Run As..., opt to run it as an admin user, enter my password and select run.  The files are decompressed, but at some point in the installation, I get the message "couldn't cop files.  Make sure that the target disk is not read-only.  (Target is C:\)
    • Furthermore, I installed this driver successfully on my other computer that is running Windows XP Professional

Why not copy the driver files?

    Hi Passport35,

You can try the following steps and check if it helps.

    Method 1:

You can try running the fixit article and following cjheck, if it helps.

Diagnose and solve the program installation and uninstallation problems automatically

    Method 2:

If the previous step fails then I suggest that scan you SFC on the computer that would be a system file corrupt on the computer search and replace.

    a. click Start, click Run, type cmd in the Open box and then click OK.

    b. at the command prompt, type sfc/scannow, and then press ENTER.

Note: the scan may take a while, so be patient. Windows allows to fix corrupt or missing files it finds. If the information of the installation CD is required to fix the problem, you may be asked to insert your Windows XP installation CD.

Wait for the analysis of complete and then check if you can install the drivers.

You might see if the compatibility mode to operate.

If the program is not compatible, then you try to install and run the program in compatibility mode.
    Use the following steps:
    Run the program compatibility Wizard

    1. Open the program compatibility Wizard by clicking the start, clicking Control Panel, clicking programs, and then clickingUse an older program with this version of Windows.

    2. Follow the instructions in the wizard.

If you are unable to install a program, insert the installation for the program and, using the wizard disk, navigate to the program setup file, usually called Setup.exe, Install.exe, or something similar. The wizard is not designed to work on programs that have an .msi file name extension.

To change compatibility settings manually for a program, right-click the icon of the program, clickProperties and then click the Compatibility tab.

    I hope this helps.
