• DHCP for several local area networks VIRTUAL via SG200 - 50 p

  Here's my scenario.  One of my clients is an executive suite.  Each office gets its own internet through a separate router.  It is a big mess of wiring and confusion.  I want to simplify this by using a single router that feeds a single DHCP subnet to a confgured to switch SG200 - 50 p with multiple VIRTUAL LANs. I was able to do this by connecting an ethernet cable from the router to each group VLAN ports.  So VLAN1 has 4 ports, the first is connected to the router.  VLAN2 has 4 ports, the first is connected to the router etc.    Each VLAN is done with success of DHCP, I isolate traffic between the VLANS.  There is no cross = ping between the VLAN, which is what I want.  And each VLAN can access resources within its VIRTUAL LAN and also provides access to the internet.  Bravo HOWEVER, I would like to provide DHCP to all them VLAN on a single switch port, rather you use a router to power for each grouping of VIRTUAL LAN port.  Because my router is limited to 4 ports, I am limited to 4 VLANS.  I need 12.   I guess this is accomplished in trunking all the VLAN of the to a single port.  But I failed to achieve.  Any ideas are much appreciated.

  Hi Andy, it depends on what one of your routers support. The switch supports 802. 1 q. One of your routers must support a trunk or subinterfaces with 802. 1 q capabilities. It is very important for more than just DHCP. Since I use a single wire, all the VLAN except the vlan native will not have access to the internet unless the router can understand tags vlan.

  My advice to you is first to identify the capacity of your routers, know which router you have / want that supports 12 VLAN and 802. 1 q. The configuration should be the easy part.

  In short: not to run virtual machines on Isilon.  Been there, done that, didn't like it much at all.  You will cause you grief.

  We tried with KVM and ESXi and neither works well. EMC has tried to run, but even their its saying not to.

  I love Isilon but not not for hosting virtual machines.

  If I plug a laptop computer into im int 1/0/6 I get an IP address from the DHCP server, and you can get online. When I go into the properties vSwitch2 and go to VMKernel and try to set it to automatically get an IP address, I get a 169.254*. * address. There is no connection if I statically set the address of one knowledge is available yet. I'll add more information later if needed, I have a meeting in which concerns another project.   I would try to eliminate the physical NETWORK adapter on the host being the issue. Silly question, but is there a link light? Drop a sniffer out there and see if there is no traffic passing if trying a different physical nic does not help.

  For each virtual network in the virtual machine, VMWARE has a virtual card in a physical machine.

  In vmware physical machine to create a new virtual adapter (for example host only), when you create a new virtual machine and add the network interface, you must associate the new interface of virtual machine to the virtual map of the physical machine.

  I just installed the module for Thunderbird Lightning and I soon saw that events have disappeared from view in the calendar.
  I took notes to add network United Kingdom and the United States holiday schedules (for example: iCal to: http://mozorg.cdn.mozilla.net/media/caldata/UKHolidays.ics) and the United Kingdom, those who appeared, until I chose the calendar section to add those to the United States.
  All calendars are checked.
  I clicked on synchronize calendars without result.
  I see the father's in the list at the top, but not the tab day, week, multiweek or month.
  I've hunted the docs but couldn't find something that would be show/hide events from these points of view for calendars which are turned on.

  I had to restart Thunderbird there are moments (Virtual identify the module was not picking up an SMTP account).
  I found that a process of Thunderbird 'hiding' and use the Task Manager to kill him.

  Virtual identity picked up the changes.
  The events appeared on the calendar and in the sidebar events etc...

  I think this is covered by this solution, just be careful because you can not revive a deleted object.

  Whenever I have activate a virtual virtual device as virtual wifi, HDD or DVD virtual Windows asking me to activate windows in 3 days... How can I stop this. my new month keys only one couple asked me to register with windows already 4 times. And only the material that changed are peripheral virtual without real physical hardware. already a key had invalidated by this phenomenon and had to buy a new one.

  I use windows 7 64-bit ultimate. my previous windows was windows 7 64 bit home edition. upgrades hardware only it was a hd internal tv tuner and more ram...
  anyway to stop this before I have to buy another key?

  You should not reorganize and certainly not to delete them.

  These files are your virtual disk. If you move or delete them as your virtual machine will get corrupted and the chances of data loss figure in your virtual machine or top.

  There is the possibility of having your virtual disk consisting of a single file. However, the thing is that while that may seem better on your eyes, it also means that common tasks like shrinking your disks or deletion of snapshots become more difficult.

  Rather than try to list all the reasons on what you are currently experiencing is the best way to have your virtual disk, I don't want to point you to this site:

  Personally, I've removed "All My Files" from the Finder (uncheck in preferences) that I didn't like it and had nothing to do with the virtual disks. Down here, they don't show same under there.

• 1 VM, 2 virtual NETWORK adapters-> Can each vNIC be in groups separated from Port?

  Really just unable to find what anyone with search terms, I've been using the fairly simple question. I have an environment with about 5 different and some vSwitches with various groups of ports, etc.. I'm talking specifically about 1 particular vSwitch in this case. There are 3 virtual machines that are connected to our network of the machine (manufacturing environment where the machines are all networks). This vSwitch using a physical NETWORK card to connect to the largest network physical switch where all computers are connected to all throughout the plant.

  I have a diagnostic machine setup that I installed on Wireshark. Currently, there is only 1 vNIC assigned to this server that is connected to above mentioned vSwitch. I use that as the management port so that I can connect to it. However, I don't want this port to receive the packages.

  So the question:

  I want to install another vNIC in this machine that is in its own separate port (separated from the aforementioned management port) group. I also want to assign a physical NIC dedicated to this card so the only machine using this physical NETWORK adapter is this machine to sniff. So, can I have 1 virtual machine that uses 2 network cards to connect to 2 groups of ports on the same vSwitch so that I can turn on only on promiscuous mode the Group of ports for NETWORK capture card so that the rest of my machine network servers very crucial drown in packages on the other group of port? Thank you!

  Yes, definitely, you can have a virtual machine with two vNIC in groups of different ports and any vSwitch groups these port resides.

• Need advice: VMs 'reconfigure virtual computer' about 10 minutes

  Hi, I need some advice.

  I have about 40 virtual machines distributed on 6 x hosts (ESXi 5.1.0: 1065491).

  I don't remember what I did recently (2 to 3 weeks ago) but:

  -There was no reboot the host, no updates

  -J' did a shrink of log SQL as my vCenter had a connection error (SQL Log full)

  -Restart vCenter (after the reduction of newspapers SQL)

  Only the last week or so, I realized that there are 6 virtual machines that were still in the task to vCenter 'reconfigure virtual machine.

  Her task "reconfigure virtual computer' seem to happen every 10 minutes and 100% almost immediately.

  There is no details on tasks.

  Virtual machines are spread through multiple ESXi hosts, running Windows Server 2008/2012.

  In fact, I found that the culprit after a few tries. There are several problems/causes for it but it leads (a) of the following:

  1. copy of Dell smart, EQL: the smart copy job is stuck. The problem is solved in the Dell EQL VSM 3.5.2 where no instant success are removed and re - in queue.

  2. trend Micro deep Security: just re - synchronize the vCenter and erase/reset the error warning for all computers

  3. Acronis backup stuck or failure that causes the VM "conscious" snapshot "services" to start and then stop. I did to stop the backup task Acronis having not an easy to understand the error log.
