  Start Firefox in Firefox to solve the issues in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions or if hardware acceleration is the cause of the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/tools > Modules > appearance/themes).

  1. Go to Subject: config
  2. Scroll to mousewheel.withcontrolkey.action
  3. Change the value of the column value to 1
  4. Restart Firefox

  In fact, I found a good work-around (which was rather hidden) which is exactly the same functionality as before, but in several stages.

  If you're like me and you wanted it, do the following:

  -Press Control-K-
  -Press tab-
  -Take advantage of arrow tab switching!

  I don't know why it happened progressively more difficult over the years, but at least I can still do it.

  You can do it yourself; It is not too terrible a task to accomplish.

  Here is the Service Manual for your computer and page 50 are the instructions to remove the keyboard.  To actually get the keyboard itself you can contact HP support at 1-800-474-6836 if you reside in the United States or to the Canada or click on this link and select your location, and the number is provided for you.

  Now if you feel comfortable, the HP support service can provide you with a quote to get the keyboard replaced directly through them so that the option is still possible.

  I have a hard time placing the cursor exactly where I want to.  This happens often when I have typo in an area like text or hyperlinks.  Given that these areas cannot be stretched or expanded, I have fat fingers... which often leads to place me the cursor in the right place.  I keep wanting to the arrow keys to move to the correct place.  I forget this feature, or am I destined to continue my hunt and Peck, Peck, Peck... method?

  You must make sure that the game window is the active window and not the whole page.  Sometimes after that the game window is loaded another element on the page will load and switch the focus of the game window to the web page.  Just click in the game window and then test your arrow keys.
