Artifacts while gaming on Satellite C660

My laptop gets artifacts while I'm playing.

Temperatures are somewhere around 50, so it's not a problem I think.

There is one thing I have noticed, all the games where I get artifacts are directX games (minecraft works well and is openGL, but games like TeamFortress2 and even Scribble cosmonauts now are unplayeble because of the artifacts)

My version of directX is 11 and I tried to reinstall several times but it didn't work.

Help, please

These artifacts are visible running something else? For example, watching movies or surfing the Internet?

What C660-xxx you have exactly?
What hardware (GPU) strong enough to play these games?

  • While the Satellite C660 just games close

    Hello

Recently bought a Toshiba Satellite C660:

    i3, 3gig of Ram, Windows 7 64 bit.

So, I use this for my small business and it works perfectly, I love it.

However, last night, I played Football Manager 2011 and during the simulation, part graphic game relatively high, the laptop just closed, completely off, twice. In both cases, the fan was working overtime.

Should I return it to the place where I bought it?

    > Should I return it to the place where I bought it?
    Why that?
You can use your laptop for usual work?

As much as I know C series is not very good for gaming and I can imagine this laptop was simply overloaded and the result is off without warning.

My graphics driver is up to date, said my last is 28/07/2010.

I am at a loss to explain what is happening.

Help and advice would be greatly appreciated.

    Hey Buddy,

    > The game is not graphics intensive and worked for about a month without any problems, has recently started to freeze
This could mean that the laptop is overheating
The reason for overheating is the dust that blocks the fan for laptop gets hotter

I recommend to clean using a jet of compressed air to blow the dust from the cooling fans. You can do it without disassembling the computer so it is very easy and takes only 5 minutes.
Just remove the battery and unplug the AC adapter before doing this.

For example I clean my laptop every 4 months because a lot of dust is coming so it s worth it.

Have you noticed a temperature higher while gaming?
I guess that the laptop automatically stops due to the higher internal temperature.
This is nothing unusual if the temperature is too high... the laptop would shut down to prevent the equipment from damage...

    Try this:
Go to advanced windows power options and reduce the max CPU performance at 90-95%
In addition to change the cooling method for: performance.

I would also recommend to check if fans and the vents are not clogged with dust...

I'm not sure where you live but in my country, the temperature is currently very high and I guess it's really hard to cool the internal parts and to maintain the temperature of the low laptop

Please help technicians in my town don't know what to do...

    Thank you
    Karolis.

I m wondering really that technicians can not help you with this. I mean if they can that help can we do on this virtual path where we can only speculate what may be the problem.
Did you contact Toshiba service provider or an independent PC company?

Problem is that we do not know if your laptop turns off due to high temperatures and overheating of the CPU or there is another reason. At least what you can do about it? Nothing. All you can do is buy compressed air and try to clean it. What else can you do?

What confuses me, is the fact that your laptop turns off after 10 seconds. This must be studied.

  • Satellite C660-1NX freezes while stop after a new install of Win 7

    Hello!

The first sorry for my English, I'm Spanish and use a translator.

I have a Satellite C660-1NX (PSC1LE-00F00NCE), I had to reformat the computer, put on a clean Windows 7 64 x (no recovery) with all the original drivers giving the official page of Toshiba.

Everything seems perfect, but when turn off the computer is frozen, I thought it was x 64 and x 86 and install the same, straight day, then started the same problem, eh update of the BIOS, as used before formatting it didn't happen, it's very weird.

I find that the reason for the problem never happened to any computer that.

    Best regards

and what happen when you install the system using the recovery disk?
    The laptop is too cold?

I doubt that someone will be able to say why the unit does not close properly.
First of all, I think its necessary to find out if its hardware or software problem.

In the case where its software related issue, the recovery disc that contains the image of configured Toshiba should fix this annoying problem.

  • Satellite P300-1FN - higher while gaming

    Hello

Is it normal for a laptop P300-1FN to reach temperatures of 80 c by playing games like Flight Simulator X.
The laptop runs generally between 40 - 60 ° C when using internet and check emails.

It is also noticed that as soon as FSX is paused, or closed the temperature begins to decrease quickly.

    Help, please.

    Hello

It s nothing unusual as the temperature increases while gaming.

Who is normal behavior because the graphics chip and processor run with performance high when running a game or other high-performance applications.
All parties produce more heat dissipation and this leads to a higher temperature

Therefore, it is very important that your laptop should be cooled properly.
I mean you should leave enough space around the laptop and it shouldn't clog the grates from cooling and fans!

You should also use the graphic driver Toshiba because this driver supports a GPU overheating protection.

    Cheers mate

  • Satellite C660 - no display

I have a portable Satellite C660 is only a couple months unused and too expensive. I turned it on the other day, but the screen is completely blank. The laptop makes sounds 'beeps '. One, fairly high long beep, followed by two beeps in burst but the same height. This cycle occurs every 30 seconds or more. It's okay if it is plugged in or running on the battery, the results are the same. I also noticed that the machine does is not that warm. When I got the laptop connected earlier I had to leave it for a while answering the phone. Since he was not the laptop has a red light and a green light - no flashing. When I came back after about 10 minutes, the two lights were switched to green and the beep was the same. I have gone through the user manual and have tried the suggestions re: display contrast, brightness and so on, but nothing happens. I'm pretty p - close the laptop is only a few weeks old as I mentioned earlier... Any help would be appreciated. PS - it is still under warranty.

    Hello

If your computer laptop isn't able to boot and only a few beep it means that a hardware malfunction has been detected. It s not a software problem, so you have to contact an authorized service provider and leave guys check your device to find errors.

It s while the laptop is still under warranty because these hardware repairs are free and covered by the guarantee. So, contact your local authorized service provider and ask for help. I'm sure that the problem can be clarified with the guys :)

  • Satellite C660-108 does not start if the USB Bluetooth dongle connected

    Hiya,

I hope you could help me.

I'm having a problem with my dongle bluetooth and satellite c660-108.
It all works perfectly. It connects devices via bluetooth and I can do whatever I want.

But then when I'm mobile stop and turn it on again it will go if the bluetooth dongle is always in the USB.

I see Toshiba screen and then it hangs with a black screen and a cursor flashing at the top left.
I have to turn it off, remove the bluetooth dongle and then turn it back on.
And then windows starts. After that, I put in bluetooth dongle, once again I want to work with her.

It isn't a huge problem, but it is a bit annoying when I have to leave the bluetooth and put it back again to get the windows began.
I'm running under win 8.1 but he already had with 8 victory.

    Anyone any ideas?

    > I see Toshiba screen and then it hangs with a black screen and a cursor flashing at the top left.
Especially the blinking cursor is displayed because the laptop can not find a boot device.

It seems that the device cannot put on the HARD drive while the USB dongle is connected.
I would recommend you check the boot order in the BIOS.

Put the HARD drive in the first place and the USB boot last device.
Save changes and check if it helps.

  • Satellite C660-223 - system caution: "" problem with cooling detected system "".

When I carry my Satellite C660-223 somewhere for example wear at home to College in a protective case in my backpack, I sometimes get a window warning flashing upward every 20 seconds or so said system + "warning: a problem with the cooling system has been detected." Please turn the computer off immediately and return it for service. +

This only happens when I transported somewhere and as a first step, that these warnings system flashed only sometimes upwards after I hauled somewhere, but in the last two years, he started to get pretty much whenever I took the laptop somehwere. When the system warnings blink until the computer doesn't feel a little warmer than normal. no danger of overheating, immediately.

I didn't fix it because the problem seems to resolve itself the next time that I carried the computer somewhere. It's a very strange problem where the short-term solution was the same as the cause: as in I would take the laptop somewhere, the warning system flash upwards and I learned that take "for a walk" would fix somehow everything which was the 'problem '. I solved the problem in this way too often so he could be a coincidence.

So for a while it wasn't really a problem because I just didn't take the laptop anywhere. But the warning system has recently start flashing to the top if I wear just the laptop on the floor, and the warning system does not disappear with my method incredibly non-tech-savvy to "go for a walk", which I am sure many here would give something to laugh :).

The obvious answer is that I need to get the service pronto thing, but I'm in the middle of final exams and the situation of tech in my house means I can't leave the laptop away for service for who knows how long when I really need to study.

Responses, I'm hoping to get are ideas as to what actually caused this problem and short-term solutions that are a little better informed that my approach "going for a walk".

I think THAT what is, is that the movement to carry your laptop around in a backpack something within the done cooling system moving out of place causing the evil TI work. I say this because, while writing this thread I was turn the laptop over and over again to get a look at the stickers on the back and the practice that seems to have "solved" the problem of warning system because this window flashes up while he was only a few minutes ago.

It seems so that all component moved his place before been moved back again by the movement to turn the laptop over and over. And I was not even take him for a walk!

    Any help? Thanks in advance.

    Hello

This notification may appear for different reasons.
The alert might appear due to
    (1) cooling system malfunction
    (2) blocked cooling vents or fans
    (3) software question (VAP - added value package or BIOS)

Malfunction of the cooling system, you should contact the service agents at the difficulty.

In case of a blocked vent and fans it s enough to clean the parts using a jet of compressed air.
This allows to get rid of dust inside the cooling module.

If the vents are not blocked and you still see this message, check the application of the service station for updates on your computer. If any are found, download and install.
You can try to uninstall or update the Toshiba value added Package. This package contains a few essential tools and utilities that control the cooling system too.
    Also check BIOS update.

But if you continue to receive this error, your laptop may require repair

  • Satellite C660 - 1J6 Win7 installation failed - disk HARD disabled controller

IV received a toshiba satellite c660-1j6.
The problem is that the hard drive has been deleted (including the back upward). I don't have any of the Toshiba backup disks, but I have new copies of win 7 home prem and xp pro. However when I try to install win7 that I get as far as selecting the installation drive and I click on the drive and I get the message about how windows cannot be installed to this disk please check the drive controller is enabled.

IV check the BIOS then several times and I can't find anything to do with it apart from the Mode of the SATA controller and which dose nothing.
The Toshiba tech support when no help at all. so is locked HD or BIOS, and is it possible to unlock them so I can install the o/s?

IV tested the drive by hooking up a PC desk top and installing windows like that, but as soon as I put the drive in the laptop it comes up with no installed new o/s

Can anyone give any help... or even indices, iv it for a week now and im going crazy.

    Hello

HARD drive is not locked. You can install any OS on the HARD drive.
Usually, the Windows 7 operating system already contains the SATA drivers that are required to see the HARD drive. So it of not necessary to include the SATA drivers while installing Win 7. You said that you have a copy of Windows 7 disc. Is this an original disc for Win 7 complete with functional Microsoft?
I ve installed several times Win 7 on my Toshiba notebooks and didn t need to use SATA drivers

In the BIOS, you have found the SATA controller mode. This should be set to AHCI. You can change this pressing SPACE.
But also the default BIOS settings should do the job.

  • Satellite C660-10 d - get my old printer and scanner to work

I would like to ask advice on how to get my HP 1020 Laserprinter and HP G2710 Scanner to work with my Toshiba Satellite C660 Windows 7 (Home Premium) 64-bit respectively?

The software of the printer (pilot) is not installed correctly while the Scanner does not charge same atal. I hope that it is ethical to mention other products on the forum of the society. Otherwise, my apologies.

    Hello

I put t think that the problem is related to Toshiba

If your printer and scanner are old enough, I could imagine you don t get the drivers for Windows 7. You should check this page: P directly if the Windows 7 drivers are available or not.

If Yes, download and install it, it s the same as on other laptops and computers. If no driver available devices are not compatible with Windows 7.
