• Sharing the values of substitution variables complex between ASO and BSO of databases

  We ASO and Essbase BSO names of members of database with spaces in and need to store some of these member names in the substitution variables. However, this should be done differently for ASO and BSO, due to script syntax calc requiring double quotes and MDX requiring hooks. For example:
  
  ASO:
  & CurWeek value = 1 week
  MDX: [& CurWeek]
  
  ASF:
  & CurWeek value = "week 1".
  Calc script: & CurWeek
  
  Therefore, the substitution variables can be shared between ASO and BSO, cubes because the value of the variable BSO requires double quotes because of the space in the name of the Member.
  
  Is there a way to get the above to work with ASO and OSB? Unable to escape the quotes in the calc script syntax? Or double quotes can be removed in the MDX formula?

  Yuck! I'm curious to see if someone has a really elegant solution to this. :)

  I'm sure you have seen this already, but a workaround is to create an alias that is not a space (or probably better, use a name without a space Member but leave some space in the alias).

  What is your specific motivation to avoid the solution two variables? If it is purely of synchronization, do not forget that even with a variable unique no guarantees of the formulas of Member ASO and BSO calc scripts will be always synchronized without a response, because the formulas (by the SER60) pick up not a new value until the application is restarted.

  Use the command 'clear data' in calc script or its all in your script report how you extract... :))

• DataExport ASO vs BSO

  BSO a DataExport creates a file named & saved on the location of the server specified in the calc script.

  If I understand the question within the report script to specify the location of the report. This isn't how it works for scripts to report. As you say of EAS, you can specify the location before the script running (console, file, or printer). If you run this in batch mode, (Esscmd or MaxL) then you must specify in the order export. It's not like dataexport where you must specify the location of the output in the calc script, two things work differently

• Data extract - source ASO to BSO target

  Client wants to retrieve wound of members of a dimension sku # a Cube ASO to the BSO Cube. Excerpts from OSI to ASO data are normally quite simple with DATAEXPORT. However, since ASO cannot run traditional calc scripts I'm wondering if there are methods to extract data from ASO to OSB? ASO does not store the values t rollled - it? So if it not is not wouldn't that eliminate partitioning option? Also, does ASO sopport report Scripts? Curious as not a guru of the ASO.

  You can have an XREF on the OSB by extracting data from the database of the ASO, though I wouldn't have thought that would help and xrefs can be slow.

  I will explain a simple business case that we use in our systems.
  Actual expenditures are loaded into the ASO cube at the day level.
  In the BSO cube, we will maintain budget and forecasts at the level of the month.
  The two strokes are synchronized except the time dimension.
  Transperent partition is created from ASO (source) to OSI (target) for actual expenditures and months.
  This will help the BSO users by reading the actulas comparison purposes when they do adjustemnts budget and the forecas.
  Here there no problem in writing to the budget and forecast in the BSO cube and users are not supposed to do any writing to the actual numbers.

  ASO does not accept entries from parent level.

  OSI does by default. However just because it is, does not say that it is a good idea. I imagine that someone will chime in with more details.

  Endowments have been introduced in ASO in 11.1.2. They are made in memory and create slices of data. In theory, this could be faster than the allowance made in OSB, especially if you agg cube to get what is allocated. In addition, you bring in the cells of a few blocks. I can't give you an answer honost because I have not yet tried large allocations of ASO. I will say that if they are complicated, it will take a lot more work to implement in ASO by BSO. In addition, if you actually use the function of allocation in OSB, it can be quite slow. You also get the question of creation of block at the time.

  I guess that the onl; y thing I can advise is to implement tests in ASO and BSO and see which works better.

• Datacopy ASO to OSI other than a transparent partition mode

  I'm stuck in one of the strange question.

  I copy data from ASO to BSO, data stored in OSB and then perform the conversion of currencies in OSB.

  If I use the transparent wall, data will not be stored in OSB and then all other scripts will not work.

  Please can anyone suggest me how to achieve this.

  Even the Xref and XWrite are also not supported in ASO.

  To my knowledge when we create a planning application and create the database, it creates a cube BSO.
  
  But we had a call today with Oracle and they suggested to use cube ASO with planning. Is it possible to have a cube ASO for a planning application?
  
  Then, in the same call we had with Oracle, they suggested using Smartlists for ASO essbase cube. Is it possible to have Smartlists for essbase applications. Cause SmartLists are drop downs, which can be used in web forms. How can we use smartlists in the worksheet? Using smartview?

  Typical measures Essbase are simular to a Smart list in the schedule. You can use it in ASO and BSO.

• Cubes of financiers as ASO?

  One of my clients is planning to convert its BSO cubes to ASO to improve loading and calculation times. Cubes contain financial data and are used to generate financial statements (P & L, balance sheet, cash flow, etc.) for the current and future years. These cubes also hold forecasts given outside actual expenditures, which are responsible for the ERP system.
  
  Now, I am aware of the fundamental differences between the structure of the ASO and BSO cubes - I worked on financial BSO cubes and of simple cubic ASO in the past.
  
  But depending on complexity of financial forecasting applications, this idea of the conversion of BSO ASO feasible and viable? Can do the complex calculations of BSO cube in these cubes managed by MDX in ASO?

  Hello

  We have a similar requirement of our customer. Only calculations that can be converted are the member formulas. If you have a lot of scripts of calculations, it can become very difficult. Also remember that Aso, you can only enter at level 0. So if you non-niveau entries 0 members, you will lose this feature. Under x 11, ASO supports time of balance sheet accounts, so it's a good thing if you have a balance report.

  is someone can you please tell me how the loading process is different in aso and bso? can we use the incremental data load process in aso only model. as on the contrary the loading data for the whole year can load us data for the last three months. or does run every time full load

  BSO charges directly to the database, ASO in a buffer, then committed to the database. You have more control over the process with ASO, which allows more flexible incremental loads. You can load incrementally with BSO, but aggregation can become a problem. With ASO, you can progressively load and not prevent users to keep reports while the load is in progress.
