  I've moved my Win 7 installation to a larger drive and had to erase my CS Design Standard 5.5 installation.   Problem solved, the solution posted here in case others have the same problem:

  It turns out that in moving my installation of Windows 7 to a new SSD I did it by cloning the old SSD to the new one (that old being too small), which wiped out the content of the new SSD. The new SSD is where I had installed Creative Suite 5.5. The problem came when I forgot to go through the process of uninstalling first. That left pieces of the program in system files, enough to mess up the installer.

  Solution: Make sure you uninstall CS before you move the disks or operating systems.

  PS CS 5.5 works well under Windows 10 I can say.

  For the other PC, navigate to the folder of the machine in all programs and search for any similar name - quick start, fast, mess-up-your-power sleep - options.exe, that sort of thing.
