  I've updated my Toshiba with Windows XP PRO/SP2 laptop.

  They have the same date, September 19, 2003 and are specific to windows XP that should of course include XP Pro.

  I have a satellite A30 - 921, but for some reason any cd/dvd stopped working. It is said in the folder Drivers 'driver corrupted/missing. (Error code 39). It will not back down or update either. Do I have to download the driver (this is Toshiba dvd - rom SD-R6112) new & if so, how/where? I can't use the installation or recovery disk as it will not read the drive. Any ideas pls.

  Is it all the USB drivers are one included in the OS. It s no matter what operating system you have. Win XP or Vista.
  Operating systems use the own Microsoft USB drivers and installation of the USB driver is unnecessary. By the way; There is no 3rd party USB drivers ;)

  So now, it would be useful to know what operating system you have installed.

  Hmm, it seems that the satellite A30 921 supports really 4pol IEEE1334 Firewire/iLink interface. Therefore, it should be possible to connect your external camcorder without big problems.

  I just installed Windows XP Professional and all microsoft updates.
  I downloaded the latest Sound driver and update the bios of Toshiba Web site for this laptop.

  I updated the bios and installed its Audio driver for "Realtek AC97". I'm speaker icon on my taskbar.

  But for some reason, I don't get sound from the speaker or headphones, when I start up windows or CD of music game or file.

  I check the volume and the installation program. I lost completely.

  I agree with Akuma. You can try using the drive HARD IDE 2.5 up to 100-120 GB.

  The graphics card in your A30 is actually a built-in chip in the motherboard unlike a desktop PC where it is a separate card. This makes it rather difficult/impossible replacement without replacing the motherboard together.

  I use a 80 GB hard drive in my SA30 and I suspect it would probably work with a 100 GB drive. However, as portable hard drives tend to suffer ruptures busiest I think their close office 80 GB is perfectly o.k. for me. I tend to have 25-30 GB used with the rest of the temporary files during editing of the videos etc. The hard drive in the A30 is usually under the optical drive to remove all first in order to access the hard drive.

  Your A30 can be upgraded to a maximum of 2 GB of RAM in two slots. Currently, you will have 2 X 128 MB or 2 X 256 MB modules of RAM installed.   After a clean install of Windows XP Pro on a Satellite A30 151, a USB device remains in the category 'Other' (after installation of the graphics and audio drivers, modem) for which no driver seems to be available on the drivers CD. At this point, the category "USB" contains four entries, two standard "Universal Host Controllers" and two "OpenHost' controllers, with the default drivers.
  I suspect that the missing device can be a USB 2.0 "PCI controller host improved USB" from another manufacturer, but Toshiba does not offer a driver for XP for it then it should be supported by the OS (?).
  Any suggestions as to what can be and what drivers need?

  The PA3362U 1MPC seems to be a network wireless Intel PRO/Wireless 2200BG MiniPCI Type 3b card. I think it is s ok and should be compatible.

  You should check if the other FN keys work correctly. If other n t FN keys work then Fn + F8 does not work too

  You will find the page of the Toshiba Realtek driver audio v5.10.00.5740.-T
  You must first uncompress it before starting the installation. You can perform the installation of the audio driver also from Device Manager

  After installing the driver of its success, you should look in the audio and audio devices. This option is located in the control panel.

  Check if the "secret" was not enabled and go through the unique volume controls and set it to a higher level.
