Audio output selection nightmare

I'm not the only one who hates the multiple options of selection of output in Windows XP.  And it may be the fault only of Windows.  I have 2 outputs: speakers and headphones.  Speakers USB, headset detaches the built-in sound on the motherboard.  You would think it would be easy to spend in Control Panel, sounds.  But none.  Its a nightmare.  To get my browser to be aware of the difference, I almost have to restart the computer.  Is it possible to force all programs to see that I made a new selection?  Some programs have their own audio selection options (bless!), but most don't.  And of course browsers never seem to.  I use Opera and Firefox.  I just want to be able to force my selection or push my selection on all programs at the same time instantly.  Instead of having to close them and restart each of them.

The only alternative is to buy a box and not use USB at all.  It's amazing that this problem has not been addressed.  Keyboards should have audio switches built on them, or at least the monitor.  So many people use the headphones, earphones or headphones so that their speakers.

In addition, what is wave?  Why have we not more than 1 volume control?  With the volume in the program (like saying VLC player) we have now 3 volume controls.  Is - this stupid or what?  To make it even more stupid, Microsoft chose to no information in help on the airwaves.  IDIOTS!  This is so typical of this company.  The WORST 'Help' in existence.  No one could be this bad by accident.  It must be intentional.  Why?  To keep the public in the dark?  Don't they just not care?  How many times do we register an error code in help have no results?  Its THEIR error code?  But there is nothing in the help.  Awesome!

---------------UPDATE-----------------
For those who need more flexible sound options, I just found out that you can pass the audio device outputs without closing the program that uses in Win7.  It was a nice touch, Microsoft.  Not too fast of course like a hardware switch but an improvement over XP in this area.

I think in the future I'll politely ask people to send links to something else than to Microsoft stuff.  They are completely unnecessary.

The links you sent even do not start to solve my problems.  Play well!  Thanks for the effort.

Tip: Start with non-Microsoft links.  Before that, read the question.

A box is the answer.  An audio output possible (because anything more complex that this is just too much for the Window operating system - I don't know that apple is just as bad), get into a box with multiple outputs 3.5 mm with or without a volume control. This will work.  They are about $30 on Ebay, but probably made with pieces of garbage.  The answer is to do it yourself the assurance of the quality of the parts, because there are a lot of mechanical action going on here.  And we know that factories in China is kind of skimp on quality when it comes to friction in the movement of pieces.

But it would be nice if you could choose just and the system would obey.  Good luck.  The answer is to remove the choice and do it yourself.  A bit like how Apple sells their simplicity: just remove choices!  Laughing out loud!  Good enough for the average, credulous lemming there.  The last thing that just need a retailer is an informed customer.

    Hello

I'm having a problem with AE CS5. Whenever I try to make a video, it hangs on the first image and does not provide for as long as I selected audio. Finally the error 'an output module no longer"appears.

I am running Win 7, i7-820QM, 8 GB memory DDR3. I don't think that it is a hardware problem, but I don't really know the source of this problem either.

    Hey guys,.

I was able to solve this problem. I'm not sure where the conflict is / was, somewhere, but here's what worked: I have created a different user account and shot to the top of AE. For some reason, the audio output module works perfectly on this account, and the audio preview RAM working more regularly on this account also. I do not uninstall any software or codecs suspicious right there. I'm not running that much more on my main account in relation to the other - can - be an antivirus or something similar - buy Hey, I'll take the same unexpected happy result. Thanks again.

  • How to change the audio output for the metronome

    Hello

I would like to send the metronome (and speech signals) for monitors to the scene in the ear.

I understand that I can do this in MainStage using different output for the above titles vs. the rest of the 'Concert '.

I tried to follow the instructions of the Manual:

Change the audio output for the sound of the metronome

    1. Choose the MainStage > Preferences > General.
    2. In the section of metronome on the general tab, choose another audio output on the shortcut menu to exit.

    PROBLEM

    1. on the general tab, only the outputs 1-2 are available/selectable (likely, these are also by default for all "Concert")

    2. Why is this process in the manual if it is not executable (without doing something to another additional Set up)?

    3. it's probably among the requirements of setting up more critical even easier for using MainStage with a live band, so why am I having to ask for help at all!

Rant on (its been a long day)

Grateful for any help to solve cela. I guess I can send the metronome (such as a click track) and speech signals on the same outputs, which are separated from the rest of the Concert... or should I change the outputs on the other tracks and keep the outputs 1-2 for the metronome marks / voice?

Thanks in advance for all advice and my apologies for my frustration. JM

To access the output audio, you need an audio interface with several outputs.

    Hello

    Try the following.

Download Realtek HD Audio Installer on the link below and save it in your downloads folder.

    http://ftp.HP.com/pub/SoftPaq/sp50501-51000/sp50720.exe

One time finished, open windows control panel, open Device Manager and open sound, video and game controllers.  Right click on the Realtek device and select uninstall - also, you should get a command prompt to delete the current driver, check the box allow this and then proceed to uninstall.

When you're done, shut down the laptop, unplug the AC adapter and then remove the battery.  Press and hold the Power button for 30 seconds.  Reinsert the battery and plug in the AC adapter.

Robinet tap away at the key esc that you start the computer to launch the Start Menu, and then select f10 to open the bios menu.  Press f5 to load the default values (sometimes it's f9, but the menu below indicates the correct key), use the arrow keys to select 'Yes' and press ENTER.  Press f10 to save the setting and still use the arrow keys to select 'Yes' and press on enter.

Allow Windows to fully - charge it will automatically load an audio driver, but let just this complete.  Then open your download folder, right-click on the installation of Realtek Audio program and select "Run as Administrator" to launch the installation.  Once this done, do a right-click the speaker icon in the taskbar and select playback devices.  'Speakers and headphones' left click once to highlight, and then click the Set Default button - check if you now audio.

    Kind regards

  • Can I control where is the audio output?

I built in sound on my motherboard (Asus Socket 775 using Realtek Audio).  So many times I need to switch between the different audio outputs.  Surprisingly its very difficult to find an external box which accepts audio and can spend 2 or more outputs. Most of us use a helmet, then quality maybe, headphones and speakers a speaker, etc.  Most of us need at least 2 output audio.  In any case, I tried to connect my headset to the rear and side outputs and it sounded identical to the front channel output of channel 2, 4, 6 or 8 in the Realtek audio program.  Really identical.  I went repeatedly back and forth to make sure.  There was a small delay in the sound that passes through when I plugged in the rear (in mode 4 channels) and side (in mode channel 6 or 8).  But the sound itself was the same in all directions.

Does anyone know why it would be the same?  Was it because it was coded in stereo?  Wouldn't the audio program Realtek tries to synthesize multichannel for the side and the rear channels?  Central/subwoofer channel was mono so that makes sense.  And the mic input works fine.

If I could control what output I wanted to use I have a selection of 3 outputs (front, side and rear) to choose from.  Helmet quality, headset for chatting, and speakers.

I realize many computers have outputs audio to the front and back but I don't use that nor do I have the header for this Panel.  I don't know if there is a provision to switch between front and rear exits.  If there was it would be a great addition.

But as everyone knows, it's a pain to switch the outputs in Windows.  You must start sound in the Control Panel, go to Audio off the 5 tabs, choose which output desired, apply, OK.  I put the sound on a shortcut but its still a pain.  And there are often close the application using the audio output as well.  A mechanical switch could be fleeting and the right side of your keyboard or your mouse.  A volume on the same box control would be smarter.  There is always a delay when you adjust the sound in Windows that would be better avoided.  You could do the same for the microphone so he could be muted most of the time, then passed to the headset or a speaker application where you are a little ways away from your desk.  Software switching does just fine.

  • No audio output device (windows 7)

    Hello

I've just updated from xp to windows 7 (rtm) and some trouble around my sound card. There is an icon in the lower right corner (next to the system clock) showing the "cross" on the speaker icon, informing me that "no audio output device is installed". I tried reinstalling the driver, but was not successful.

Unfortunately, I don't know yet what kind of sound card on my pc has. It seems that it is integrated on the motherboard, which is an ASUS P5GD2-X. in Device Manager, it is simply listed as "device high definition audio.

Anyone know how I can get this to work? It's really annoying not to have sound...

    Thank you for your support.

    Hi Marc,

Thank you for visiting the Windows Vista Forums.

Please check if the playback device is disabled. To do this, follow the steps below:

    1 Please, click Start-> Control Panel-> Sound.

    2. on the playback tab, right-click on the empty square and then click on "show disabled devices".

    3. check if your playback device is disabled. If so, right-click on it and click Activate.

    Reinstall the audio device

    =============

    1. click on start, type Device Manager, click on Device Manager to open it.

    2. expand ' audio, video and game controllers ".

    3. right click on your audio device, and then click on uninstall.

    4. check "delete the driver for this device".

    5. click on OK.

    6. after that, restart the computer, the device and the driver must be reinstalled automatically.

I suggest you install the audio driver in compatibility mode. Remove and rescan the device in the device, right click on the executable/installer file manager driver-> properties and select the Compatibility tab. Click on the box to check run this program in compatibility mode for option and select Windows XP in the drop-down list. then try to install the device driver.

During this time, please understand that Windows 7 is a whole new operating system and driverstore has been reprogrammed; you could wait for another period of time until that the commercial version is released and push the business of the vendor to upgrade their device driver.

  • No audio output device is installed - not corrupt Windows drivers

Suddenly had a red cross on the audio output and not sound. The thought of hardware problem. Bought basic sound card, drivers installed. The Red Cross again still no sound. Looked on MS answers. Tried all simple suggestions for pilots and others. Downloaded the drivers and install them like crazy.  No change, nothing. Not realized a driver problems. The issue of corruption of Windows. Did a clean install of DVD and voila, the sound is restored with no red cross.  Then tried to update from Windows.old. He successfully achieved and... Red Cross reappears. Now, did a clean install once more and have a machine with its work but not user or data files. Bloody Windows folder; There are 45 485 files in my Windows.old in Windows version (file) and install 45 307 files in my own version of the same file. Somewhere in this huge haystack is the needle that explains why the sound does not work. Damndest thing. For others suffering from the issue of audio, so that many well-meaning folk here have put forward sensible suggestions on the drivers, they are not necessarily the answer. And in fact may just lose a lot of your time.

Anyone with suggestions for the restoration of a more selective way of Windows.old or my last backup (of course without causing corruption..)?

    Windows 7 Ultimate 6.1.7600 Build 7600

    Hi SpiritX/Rob,

Thanks, yes I already tried and actually a restore successful from the windows.old folder. Unfortunately, the restoration has also eliminated my audio (and network and probably some other stuff too - another story)!

I myself have reconciled now to live with my own installation, made a new battery of updates from WIndows (about 250 MB worth!) last night and always perfect. Machine has always has audio, still has the networking.

I don't want to treat it as a new machine, just re - install the program I really need/want rather than lots of "stuff" that you think you want or as Apple, Google, Adobe, Microsoft, Sun (Java) manage to drag your defenses.  First installation has been AV (Eset), next installation will be Paragon (for back-up). So my own programs, then the user files.

It would be a very interesting experience to compare the 'pilot' between my windows (clean-install, work) current functional folder and those in the hiearachy of corresponding windows.old. Who'd settle, to some extent, whether the pilots themselves or some other setting in some different files.

Thanks again for your support here, and I love the quote from Mark Twain.

    See you soon
