    Put a shortcut to an mp3 player or other media file (or a shortcut to a WMP playlist)

    C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\Startup

    [this is the all users startup folder]

    You could also put in the following folder, but only if your startup takes you directly to a specific account;

    \AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\StartupyourusernameC:\Users\

    [this is the start-up folder for yourusername]

    You probably know this bit already but just in case where:

    The default location for the WMP playlists

    \My Music\PlaylistsyourusernameC:\Users\

    If you set up a playlist in WMP, can go in this folder, right click on the file PlayListName.wpl & select Create a shortcut and then move this shortcut to the chosen above startup folder.

    You can edit the playlist in WMP then as much as you want - setting up you made of the works in the name of the playlist so as long as this does not help, then, the action will proceed as planned.

    I don't know what your goal is, but if it is to have the PC wake up & play music as an alarm call, then you can do it in Task Scheduler instead if you wanted [which is what I do].  But this would require the PC to sleep rather than turned off and therefore requires to be already logged on to a user account.

  • How to stop programs that run automatically at startup?

    Hi I just wanted to know how to stop programs from running automatically at startup, I already ran msconfig and disabled programs that I don't want to run at startup and it always automatically start also on msconfig, it indicates the applications that I don't want to run at startup is disabled and it always runs at startup. The programs that I don't want to run at startup are tom tom home and bbc iplayer desktop, but he always runs at startup.

    One other thing is when I install new programs, that they automatically run at startup without my permission.

    Palcouk did preferred proposals. Another way to identify which loads when you start using Autoruns (freeware from Microsoft).
    http://TechNet.Microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals/bb963902

    With Autoruns, you can deselect an item which disables startup, or you can click with the right button on an item, then remove it. If you clear the check box that you can check back for re - activate the element. It is an approach much safer than editing the registry and better than using msconfig.

    A useful feature of the program is that you can click with the right button on an item and select search online to get information about the selected item.

  • Windows Internet Explorer opens automatically at startup of the Facebook page

    I use Windows Vista Home Premium software on a Gateway computer. For some reason any start-up, my Windows Internet Explorer is automatically upwards, and there a Web Facebook.com page already on the screen asking you to sign up for Facebook. It flashes at the bottom of my screen until I click on it. I don't want no internet will automatically launch and I want either of Facebook. How can I keep internet start automatically without my even clicking on it? Thanks for the help.

    Dear Rachel,

    Please, try the following steps.

    (1) check that the homepage of your Internet Explorer is not "facebook.com" - could be found under Tools-> Internet Options-> general, in the section "Home Page." If you do not have "facebook.com" written there, replace it with another site that you want to load when you start your browser or with "subject: empty ' If you just want a blank window is displayed when you run your browser.

    (2) on your Start menu, choose programs-> startup programs list. If "Internet Explorer" is in the list, just simply delete.

    ((3) if (2)) does not help, try running 'msconfig' (choose Run from the Start Menu and just type "msconfig" in the window that appears), go to "Startup" and uncheck a box near point "Windows Internet Explorer".

    I hope this helps!

  • The app ever to run automatically at startup

    Hi all

    I searched the forums and tried all the code to make my app run automatically at startup. Unfortunately, when I tested my code on the real device. The application never runs automatically when the departure of the unit (I tested by remove the battery and put it again).

    Please see my code below, I created 2 projects to test the operation. But they do not work.

    1 loop until app not at startup

    public class AutoStartTest extends UiApplication {
        public static void main(String[] args) {
            new AutoStartTest().enterEventDispatcher(); // GUI
        }

        AutoStartTest() {
            try {
                // check if still in startup
                ApplicationManager app = ApplicationManager.getApplicationManager();
                boolean keepGoing = true;
                while (keepGoing) {
                    if (app.inStartup()) {
                        Thread.sleep(1000);
                    } else {
                        keepGoing = false;
                    }
                }

                // Push a new GUI screen.
                DummyScreen screen = new DummyScreen();
                pushScreen(screen);
            } catch (Exception e) {
                e.printStackTrace();
            }
        }

        // Simple GUI screen from which to create an Invocation.
        final class DummyScreen extends MainScreen {
            DummyScreen() {
                setTitle(new LabelField("Autostart test 2", Field.FIELD_HCENTER));
            }
        }

    2. use the listener of system

    public class AutoStartTest extends UiApplication implements SystemListener {

        public static void main(String[] args) {

            AutoStartTest appInstance = new AutoStartTest();

            // If system startup is still in progress when this
            // application is run.
            if (ApplicationManager.getApplicationManager().inStartup()) {
                appInstance.addSystemListener(appInstance);
            } else {
                appInstance.doStartupWorkLater();
            }
            appInstance.enterEventDispatcher();
        }

        // constructs
        AutoStartTest() {

        }

        private void doStartupWorkLater() {

            invokeLater(new Runnable() {
                public void run() {
                    doStartupWork();
                }
            });
        }

        private void doStartupWork() {
            // Push a new GUI screen.
            DummyScreen screen = new DummyScreen();
            pushScreen(screen);
        }

        //
        // SystemListener
        //

        /** @see SystemListener#powerUp() */
        public void powerUp() {
            removeSystemListener(this);
            doStartupWorkLater();
        }

        final class DummyScreen extends MainScreen {
            DummyScreen() {
                setTitle(new LabelField("Autorstarttest 3 ", Field.FIELD_HCENTER));

            }
        }

    It's the setting in

    I also joined the project as an attachment. But in the project, I tried to create a thread to send http get and open a session on the server side. But it seemed that the app has not started too.

Is this another place where I can manage which starts and runs and this isn't?

    Individual programs have preferences that you can access and prevents them from running on startup?  If you right-click on the icons in the Notification area are there similar options available?

    Otherwise you can disable them to load at startup via the tool MsConfig and his ' tab Statup.

    Hi camolentot,
    For a programme of work, it must be started. Programs are started in three ways.
    1. the first is if actually start you yourself by throwing it
    2. the second way is for other programs start another program.
    3. the third way is a program be configured to start automatically when the operating system starts. The type of programs that start through the third way are what we call the Windows startup programs
    The third type programs can be of the following types.
    * Some programs are needed for the operating system to operate correctly
    * Some programs, it is not necessary to run as it can be launched if necessary.
    You can change the programs such as messengers or software that you think that it is not necessary to run at the beginning. But it's not good tweaking all train backup software or security data. Its better to take help among people with knowledge about this program before tweaking start-up businesses.
    Tweaking unnecessary startups can speed up your PC. But tweaking bad programs\services can cause problems too.

  • How can I configure things if a program runs automatically at startup?

    I have a video surveillance program, I would have run automatically using my UID, not root login, when starting my Mini (its running OS X 10.11).  What is the best way to do it?

    Configure a user account for doing this, set this auto connect user account & also to set the application to open a connection point. System Preferences > users and groups is where you manage all that Setup.

    If you need a 'device' you should probably look at running Linux or something that is not as heavy user in OS X: this is very dependent on user names to run applications. You will need to configure the lock screen to restrict access to these user data to anyone with physical access, be aware that this configuration is not ideal for security. Someone could just restart and access the data before the screen saver locks the screen, you could start via a login script, but it is perhaps too easy to defeat too.
