  I just bought a new gateway computer that has Microsoft 7 Home Premium yesterday. Last night, he had 12 automatic updates which was fine. Today, he says have 26 and was killed on 15 for 9 hours.   • find the update history.
  • Find the last update failed.
  • Double-click it to see the details. Bad to shoot the problem, there are often links to possible solutions
  • repetition of windows update scan. This limits the number of updates that you apply. Start with just one failed,
  • Once you have passed a casusing worth, take a small subset of those available to the general public
  • Let repeateing until you can do a couple of update scans and finds nothing
  • After getting updates all enforce a copy backup of the complete picture of your computer so that you have a known good point to restore that would not force all these fixes again.

• Key 'Control' is 'pressed' automatically... and not by me (Vista)

  I have a new Dell with Vista home basic OS laptop. At random times, my computer is by pressing the function key "automatically" on me, so to speak. For example, I go get the text (in any program), and the shortcut associated with this letter appears suddenly, as if I had pressed the control key. For example, I'm going to type 'h' and the 'history' option opens in Internet Explorer, or the "Find and replace" option in Word. Yet once, it happens randomly and not on every key shot (it seems to happen once every typed phrases). It is not a problem and I've lost large portions of text because of this unexpected behavior; the most questionable when I have an important project Center academic, I need to finish soon...

  Dell has tried any hardware related (appearantly), including sending me a new keyboard in case the control key was somehow be activated through a faulty keyboard. Dell wants me to re-install Vista, but I'm not confident, I can back up everything, etc with my semi little computer experience. In addition, this seems a rather "extreme" solution to something that must be a software related and solvable if all goes well. I think that the computer was good initially, but this began to happen shortly after (I got it since the summer, approximately). Curiously, it didn't happen by writing this post; no idea why (maybe a clue in of itself?).

  Check if your 'sticky keys' is 'On', it turns "Off":
  1. go into the control panel.
  2. double click on 'accessibility '.
  3. under "Make your computer easier to use", click on "Make the keyboard easier to use".
  4. under "Make it easier to type" click to uncheck the box before "Tour sticky keys" to uncheck.
  5. click on 'Apply' and ' "Save"

  Spent by the factory with the OS. After 18 + OVERLAYS on my XP Pro PC I've exchanged on this VISTA Premium 32 bit and after 15 + OVERLAYS on this one, IT WORKS finally.

  Now it's been GETTING all THE UPDATES... I found that the PC knows what to do with them, and without any help from us that it just boot process follow all prompts.

• Dictionary of automatic correction for the pre Palm CHANGES AND MISSPELLED the words that I TYPE IN CORRECTLY

  A couple of weeks ago, I bought a Palm Pre from Bell Mobility at the Canada.

  It has an automatic correction function corrects usefully commonly spelled words as I type.

  Unfortunately, the dictionary he uses is itself riddled with errors!

  Here are three examples:

  1. If I type the word SURPRISE, he is replaced by SURPRISE.

  2. If I type the word CONNECTION, he is replaced by CONNECTION.

  3. If I type the word CHECK, it is replaced by CHECK. (In Canada, we use check to mean a Bank document and check to mean check.)

  There are also a few corrections that are not useful. For example, if I type the ID (as in identification), it is replaced by I got another: if I type U, it is replaced by you. So if I want to hit U.S., I receive from you. S. I understand that these shortcut replacements are useful for some people, they are not useful to me, and I would like to disable these special entries.

  I used to have a BlackBerry that had a function of automatic insertion. I could change or delete individual entries, add my own shortcuts (this has been extremely helpful - SS became Akrid, my name;) USS has become in the United States; etc.). Is it possible to do it on the Palm Pre, or am I stuck with the dictionary it provides? I love the Pre in other ways, but this thing strikes me slows I will exchange it for a BlackBerry Tour while I can still under my contract, unless there is a clever or clandestine way to change AutoCorrect entries. It's really a deal breaker - one question for me.

  Also, I know you can press BACKSPACE to undo the automatic correction, but by the moment I noticed that it is done, I'm already typing the next word, and at this time I have to go back and erase the whole previous word, enter it again, and then press BACKSPACE, before you type the next word. It really slows me typing it. It's very frustrating.

  There are a few ways "undocumented" to change the dictionary. They require rooting your phone and it's not something palm would lead the person to do. But there is another hope. http://forums.precentral.NET/homebrew-apps/193362-AutoCorrect-edit-7-28-command-line-access.html is an application of work in progress, a person works to do exactly what you want, add, modify, delete words. I can only hope that once the app catalog beta is open there is a chance to see something like this soon. Or at least, maybe even an option of Palm themselves off.

• Automatic 'back' after a paragraph

  It seems to me that TLF automatically inserts a 'return' between two paragraphs. So, if the first paragraph ends with a return, you get two empty lines between paragraphs. Is it a correct assumption?

  I worked around this by removing the last statement in a paragraph...

  But now (which may seem a little strange) I want to show two paragraphs without return, so my work around not to do the tour...

  Anyone know if you can disable the automatic return after a paragraph?

  A paragraph always ends with a line, and the following text will be different online. I don't know how to get the desired effect, with the exception of combine the two pieces of text in the same paragraph, or (if they are full text) put in two separate containers which are placed side by side.

  I wonder if someone could help me please?

  I need a way to verify that my browser (in this case Chrome) is closed when I put my Mac to sleep, or he sleeps auto.  Unfortunately, as you know, the default behavior is that applications remain open on sleep and the subsequent recovery.  This represents a significant vulnerability for me (for reasons,.
