Automatic updates interfere with applications.

Windows 7 Home 64 bit has been updated automatically on the 12th and several applications including Explorer and Adobe Bridge has stopped working.  When I checked the coast of relaibility I also saw that the reliability decreased regularly this month every time that Microsoft udated software.  Since this morning, it seems that I have a boat anchor - I must ask this question from my old XP machine with a modem connection.  Is there a problem with the automatic updates and how do I get my machine back?

Hi georgejoseph,

a. remember that updates of Windows that caused the problem?
are b. you able to boot to the desktop on 64-bit Windows 7 computer?

You can view the history in Windows Update and check for any significant error.

Follow these steps to see the Windows updates are installed on your computer.

1. open Windows Update by clicking the Start button. In the search box, type Update, and then in the list of results, click Windows Update.
2. in the left pane, click view update history.

If you receive an error message on the Microsoft Windows Update Web site or by the automatic updates service, you can use the information in the Windowsupdate.log file to resolve the problem.

In addition, you can do a system restore and check if this solves the problem.

    A DPS app update automatically? We want to use the application to run on an ipad as a POP display for the customer. But we need to update the attractor loop that plays with sales, new alerts etc. So far, I found nothing in this regard. My guess on this operation would be to have the attractor as a display of web pages with this content remotely hosted on one server. This page is updated every 60 seconds via javascript. Then, when you want to update this attractor we update the HTML etc. Then our button to explore the rest of the application is in html that links to the next article. All the thoughts, ideas would be appreciated. My understanding is that the applications need manually updated on the ipad and wrong at work.

    It is the only way to do this that I can think. Even when the automatic updates app (Android, Windows) supported platform, it's unpredictable timing for when the new update is available in the store and sent to devices.

    However, I have not upgraded my SDK between releases, nor I have changed anything in my other than the version numbers update.xml. And the build and deploy process is automated, so that should not have changed either. What could be going on here?

    Old update.xml:

    <?xml version='1.0' encoding='UTF-8'?>
     <update xmlns='http://ns.adobe.com/air/framework/update/description/1.0'>
       <version>2.1.22</version>

    New update.xml:

    <?xml version='1.0' encoding='UTF-8'?>
     <update xmlns='http://ns.adobe.com/air/framework/update/description/1.0'>
       <version>2.1.26</version>
       <url>http://ramp.leancoder.com/client/downloads/ramp.air</url>
    </update>

    The two versions were built with:

    $bin/adt -version
    adt version "2.0.2.12610"

    This error, in this case, is the result of a self-signed certificate has expired.

    Generate a new certificate and using the "adt - migrate" command (description here) solved the problem.

  • Problems with Vista OS SP2 after automatic updates: using OneCare; application of integrated keylogger HP CPU "HP SDP" made by IBM in Durham, North Carolina (?); corrupted Samsung print driver downloaded from the website of the company

    Entered possible hacker:

    1. techie OneCare WINS access - probably not unauthorized and do not believe it causes always provided a quality service, but they have had access in the past.

    2 HP technicians - have had access to my computer once - did a good job with computer crash (not sure cause), but tried to sell me more HP products when I have no money...

    3. after the technicians HP did good job with crash, started to have pop-ups keep HP application that appeared as an add-on that works without permissions on my computer. Google the name of the HP SDP application > recovered information said program is IBM in North Carolina. Called them. Nobody gives any information on the program until I got ahold of a person who gave me the phone to techie Dept. It took all day. Not have not yet contacted technology because they have closed before I could call.

    4. called HP to inquire about the search info from HP SDP. on his goal? HP said he works as a keylogger you sell stuff. But what was weird is after the system crashed and repaired, there was one day that he has opened three times in ten minutes! The behavior of the application has changed after my OS has been repaired. Then after that I indicated HP where I found information on this program, the program disappear from the list of "run without permissions" in internet options explore > manage add-ons > run without the permissions list

    5. one day, I'm working on a word document, and the printer stops abruptly, impression. No amount of turn, or by clicking 'Cancel' will get doc from the printer queue. MS literature said this could be a security issue. The printer says "printing of documents", but no printing at my end.

    This problem is compounded when I delete browsing history and try to refresh the internet Explorer. That activity seems to take pieces of the program Samsung printer with it, even if I had excellent results in the past with Samsung printers and their downloads, and I never had the damaged printer driver to exercise this activity in the past.

    If I didn't have a short term in the Court of appeal in a week, I would say it's a question of OS, or program problem, but it's as if something falls down as soon as another issue is fixed and the unusual behavior of the computer, more timing and the purpose of the brief to me 90% sure that this is a pirate or a virus the surplus of the Samsung driver deleted pieces being left on my machine after uninstall.

    Dear Karena R,.

    Thanks a lot for your excellent advice. The Techies MS OneCare fixed the popup of HP before I read your message. (I was remiss to check my email...). I'll follow the instructions you sent me and am running the OneCare security right now, online scanner that I already know an excellent and effective tool because it has repaired my MS operating system and programs after that I accidentally deleted parts of the operating system by removing a .dll file, I need or such a thing! I also wanted to thank you for the information about the object of the HP SDP pop-up window. I saved your instructions on how to remove this case, the pop up appears again. One thing I noticed is that, after removal, some keys on my keyboard don't work, and I've read that other HP users encounter the same problem with the keys on the keyboard. The keys that seem to be affected are the keys that automatically open and close the door of the CD burner. Not a problem, because it is another way to open and close the drawer. It's one that HP must improve. In regards to your advice on the printer driver you have been 'right on' new! I reinstalled the driver using my own CD (not the latest driver, but one that works!) I think that the problem with the update of the Samsung driver that I downloaded from the Web site doesn't have some kind of problem. It is very unusual for a driver to Samsung, because I got excellent results with printers Samsung and free updates downloaded from their Web site. The first Samsung printer I had worked so well, for so long as the small rubber roller that takes the paper and it feeds through the printer wore out until the printer is, literally in a 100,000 pages printed after that I bought for about $80.00 dollars! So, I went out and bought another one, and that's what I use now. The printer works fine now, except for some reason, the icon in my taskbar notification area, allow to check the printer the status of jobs, cancel or repeat printing as before. Once. from time to time, a job stuck in the queue for the printer and will not erase unless I unplug the printer from the central unit. Nor will it print. But since I reinstalled the driver, this has happened only once. With the downloaded update, it happened all the time. It is possible that my OS is misconfigured, but I started to run the routine tune ups and analyses using OneCare and unless I used to defragment. I learned that the defragmentation of the hard disk too can cause problems also. The last thing is, I think that sometimes, tiny files needed to run my OS and files other programs can be sent to my temporary folder by accident. MS still once, All_Knowing computer, somehow recognizes the files I need and pushes me to ignore them, but perhaps it does not work for non-Microsoft like Adobe programs. I will use the link in your message to run the fix with the printer driver just to see if it works. If it is not the case, I can always reinstall the driver with my CD that came with the printer. Thanks for the excellent and informative tips and forgive me if I do not respond sooner!

    Sincerely,

    Hello abcglad,

    If I understand correctly, you are able to open your apps, but what you do in them makes it insensitive so you press the Home button to exit the application, and then go back into it to make it work. This looks like a software issue to me, we should be able to solve. I would start by quit all applications running on your iPad. Normally, simply quit the application affected, but in this case because it seems to be all of them, I'd leave all.

    Force an app to close the iOS

    1. press the Home button twice quickly. You will see small glimpses of your applications recently used.
    2. slide to the left to find the application you want to close.
    3. push upward on the overview of the application to close.

    When you have finished that force the iPad to restart with the Home and Sleep/Wake buttons as described in the following article and the question again:

    Hey guys I have the same q... is it OK to turn on the automatic updates now... I had the same prob - stage restart loop 3... I fixed it by using method 4 then I installed Microsoft fixit files... how ever it has updated to sp2 now... I can turn on the updates, and install them?

    Hi ganganatha,.

    Looking for your other post I see that you have run the fixit reset Windows Update. It's yours if you want to enable automatic updates or not. However, so that Windows install important updates as they are available, it is recommended to activate the automatic update. With an automatic update, you don't have to search for updates online or worry that critical fixes for Windows might be missing from your computer. Windows automatically checks for updates for your computer.

    In addition, given that the issue is resolved, you can turn on it.

    Here are answers to some common questions about updating Windows automatically.

    There are other ways in which Windows inform you about updates. You can set according to your convenience.

    Hello.

    It is possible that it was by force the windows closed so your firefox which makes you forget... Have you tried to crash your Firefox to see if the session is not restored?

    To plant your Firefox, simply there open, press CTRL + SHIFT + ESC and then, on the process tab in the window that appears, complete the process firefox.exe. • KB955759 does not appear when I check the updates manually, but it appears with the yellow shield after you have enabled the automatic updates.

    original title: Windows Update acts confused - kb955759 does not appear when I check the updates manually, but it appears with the yellow shield after you have enabled the automatic updates.

    I just reset my CMOS settings, writing zeros for my hard drive, repartitioned, reformatted and used the recovery cd Gateway system to get my computer to Windows 98se - factory settings, except at the beginning of the recovery of the system, when it says "press any key for advanced options," I pressed a key and then I unchecked all the default (3rd party) applications including Norton and left only 2 checked: "Updated USB Hub" and "Windows Shutdown Supplement," while nothing has been installed, leaving only win98.

    Then I used my disc XP Home (SP2) update.  I, immediately after the upgrade to Windows XP, installed "Office XP with Frontpage, Developer Edition", then Norton 2012 before never connect to the internet.
    Then, I connected to the internet and continuously update of Norton, before ever hitting the Windows Update page. The first thing I did then was to activate Windows, and then activate the office.
    Then I hit the update of Windows "button" that says "get all your updates in one place... upgraded"Microsoft Update".  I, then, just kept hitting the page update and restart, until I find the SP3.  Then, I took a break, until the next day.

    I have an ADSL broadband, with a Linksys EtherFast PCI card.

    Then I got SP3, which installed without any problems.
    So I just kept "microsoft continuous update" manually (and reboot), until there is no more updates - EXCEPT, I always uncheck Windows Malicious Software Removal Tool - which was the only screening at the final stop for the night.  I think that I ticked the box "don't ask me about this update".

    Then, in the morning, after you have enabled automatic updates, I noticed the yellow shield - Windows security icon (or whatever it's called), so I clicked on it and checked it was tellimg me was available [when I checked "Custom Install (advanced users)"].  What showed was 1 update - 955759 KB.

    After the problem, already at the reformat (months and months), see the yellow shield telling me there are updates available, which were already installed (before rebooting), I checked manually on the internet with IE 8, pressing alt, "T", "U".  There is no updated list.  Then I checked through my history of update (twice), and KB955759 had not been installed.

    My update setting is to let windows download ('important') updates, but let me choose when to install them.

    What is the right - Windows Update (NO update important reporting) Site, or the yellow shield (reports [a] kb955759 [update])?

    I can not yet confirm he is supposed to be an update for XP home kb955759, because I was unable to locate any detailed documentation on this 'thing' that protect the yellow safety seems to think is a significant update.

    Just for the heck of it, I have disabled the automatic updates, cleared my browser cache, checked manually, updates from microsoft (windows) and found none (with the exception of software malware removal tool windows [which I have not installed]).  Then, I turned the automatic updates on, and without even being connected to the internet, the yellow shield popped up with the kb955759 "update"...

    Repost...

    1. If you open Internet Explore (only!) to http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com and run a CUSTOM scan, KB955759 appears in results?... If so, you manage to install it and/or security updates available?

    2 after no. 1 above [<>], is the 'yellow shield' icon appears in the Notification area (on the left of your clock)?  .. and if yes, by clicking on the 'yellow shield' icon tells you that KB955759 or any other updates is ready-to-be-installed?  .. .and if so, you manage to install it?

    3 after doing 1 # & #2 above [<>], is KB955759 or any other updates offered as a ready-to-install update when you go off your computer?  .. .and if so, you manage to install it?

    Nope. If you want to clear the queue of the update...
