Automatic Vista closed

My computer stops and restarts randomly. I want to know how to stop my computer automatically stops

If the automatic restart is not selected, the system does not restart in response to a stop error message, and you will then be able to see all messages on the screen.  Otherwise, the computer should restart automatically, and you cannot have a chance to see the message.  If the automatic restart is not selected and you still reboots, it would be good to see if you can reproduce the behavior in safe mode, with a clean boot, or with a boot device.

Also make sure you run the latest version of the BIOS available for the system and that you have updated any drivers that you can.

I've been running under automatic update since the purchase of this machine, and everything that was in the update of this early afternoon undermined my machine!  While surfing with IE and FireFox, pages would freeze or fail (hard to do your online banking, when that happens).  Hit a shortcut would launch a fresh copy of the browser.  I have tried a reboot and something had made wrong my user and password admin (that I was able to reset), but restarting seems to be in an infinite loop.  Diagnosis of the initial splash screen was fine.  I had to restore to point store yesterday, and now it is running properly again.  Is it possible to determine what was in this particular update, and I have to any security option other disable that automatic updates?

    Hi carol_okc,

Please use the forum for Support of Vista,

In the Windows Update window, you can click view update history.  This will tell you what has been updates install and if they have success or not.  Also change the setting option to download, but let me choose whether to install them, this will allow you to install the update one by one to see what update was the cause of the problem.
If you figure out that you cause problem, which offer up-to-date, right-click and select Hide update to remove the update from the list.

    Clarification:
Windows Vista is preinstalled on this system?

If I read (and cited only) correctly - Yes, which is not going to work.  The license for Windows Vista was related to the Compaq system motherboard.  If you had that repaired under warranty, HP? Compaq could have helped you.  As you have created a new machine (motherboard especially) now, you will need to purchase a new license for Windows Vista or any other operating system of your choice.

You could, I suppose, buy the OEM of Windows 8 version.  You will have the same problem later (OEM licenses is related to the first motherboard it is installed and activated with.)

  • Disable automatic (countdown) closed after automatic update.

I run my computer 24/7 and keep programs I need to run all the time. I have automatic updates turned on and off because after the update, it restarts the computer and I lost all the information that I have been woking on. It is extremely irritating and the last time it was the case that I had not saved the data I was working for school and I lost everything. Hours and hours of hard work was gone.

First of all, I would like to know why Microsoft would think that is a sensable solution just disable someones computer and second, I want to know how to solve this problem. I can't support any option option which will allow updates to download and install, but ask me when it's convenient for me to turn it back on.

    Thank you

    Hi Nate2551,

Sometimes, Windows Update may run in an instance where the file that Windows is trying to update is locked or in use. When this happens, Windows cannot apply the update until it can access these files. So that you can benefit from the update, Windows will ask you to restart your PC to continue the installation of the updates. Windows Update will remind you if you have to restart your PC to continue the installation of an update and you give the option to "reboot now" or will give you the option to postpone the restart. If you are away from your PC for a long period of time, you can see that it automatically restarts your PC. Windows does to make sure all the latest security and other updates are applied in a timely, to help keep your PC safer with little effort for you.
If you are a system administrator and you want to restart behavior control, you can use Group Policy to prevent reboots automatic situation every time the administrator is connected.

Access the link below and follow the steps carefully in the article below to configure automatic updates by using Group Policy or of registry settings.

  • Updates automatic Vista

I go to updates - change the settings, but the important updates option is gray which does not allow me to choose the automatic updates.

    What should I do?

    Hello

Follow the steps listed in this document.  Don't forget registry of Windows backup before making the changes.

  • Monitor goes black, but only if Vista closed system (works fine with Linux!)

My Vista system works AOK except the monitor displays no more than 2-3 seconds. However, it is on with a fixed green light and if I turn the monitor on and off I have the chance to see my login screen of Vista or office for 2-3 seconds. Then black again.

BUT, if I first start a live distribution of Linux on a USB key and to allow Linux to shut down the system, I can start then in Vista without difficulty and the screen stays on for the duration of the session. If I reboot with Vista or go out with Vista, I lose again the screen until I use Linux. It's driving me crazy!

This has happened for about three weeks now. All updates applied. PowerSave off (as it has also causes loss of monitor). Vista just on board: not a dual-boot configuration. I only use Linux live via USB in order to access Vista with a display of work!

Any suggestions? (NB: I can't use System Restore as it is turned off.) (DOH!)

    Hi TranquilPC,

There is a possibility that this would happen because of problem with the video card on the computer.

Check to see if you can boot to the desktop using video in low resolution (640 × 480) Enable"startup option.

    (a) click the Start button, click the arrow next to Shut Down, and then click restart.

    (b) do one of the following:

    ·         If your computer has a single operating system installed, press and hold the F8 key as your computer restarts. You need to press F8 before the Windows logo appears. If the Windows logo appears, try again by waiting until the Windows logon prompt appears, and then stop and restart your computer.

    ·         If your computer has more than one operating system, use the arrow keys to select the operating system you want to start in safe mode, and then press F8.

    (c) on the screen Advanced Startup Options , use the arrow keys to select tActivate video low resolution (640 × 480)and press ENTER.

    (d) log in your computer with a user account with administrator rights.

If you can see your desktop, there is problem with your video card on the computer

I suggest that you manually download and install the updated drivers for the video card by visiting the manufacturer of the card and check if it works.

  • Basket empty automatically whenever I log out. How can I stop this so that I can empty it when I want to?

When I delete the files they go in the trash and will stay there until I log out and switch on the computer.
When I turn it back on and open a session in the basket is still empty.
I can't find any settings to change that.
    Can someone advise?

    Hi Jack,

Windows Vista does not clear the trash automatically on closing of session/reboots. This must be due to a third-party program (CCleaner / Zone Alarm clear function Cache) you have installed. You may need to consider starting applications and find which of them is the compensation the basket every time.

    @Psing89,

Hello and thanks for the display on the HP support forums.  The only option you have is to perform a complete system recovery and it will clean the system and return to the original configuration.  This link will help you with that.

HP computers - performing a recovery of system HP (Windows 7)

If this fails and the virus has penetrated into the recovery, then the only option are to get a new copy of the the recovery media and use it to completely wipe the drive and start again.  This link will help you get a copy of your recovery media.

  • Equium A200-Vista repair always at boot

    Dear all,

This is my first time in the forums and I need help.
I have a computer Equium A200 laptop running Windows Vista 32. Recently, I got a malware problem and my only recourse was to erase everything and use the Toshiba Recovery disk that was provided.

I reinstalled and the computer restarted without any problem... However if I stop completely for a short time, when the machine starts again the Windows Startup Repair keeps operating. I have let it run its course, but it never actually repairs anything. I even wiped all new just ran the recovery disc that put on the basis of windows vista, closed the machine for about a minute and then he did it again, windows startup repair yes returned.

My bios is the latest version and I ran a test on the memory and hard drive... all diagnoses appear correct.

My laptop is still under warranty.

    Can anyone help please?

    Thank you
    Ray

    Hi dude

Your question is really strange to be honest I have never seen anything like it.
Of course, the repair function on Vista is known to me and my repaired the system Vista in the past too, but this doesn t always appear at the start of the laptop.

However, I imagine that this issue has something to do with your system and you should first try to clean with the CCleaner. It is a free tool and it repairs the operating system and the registry.

More upgrade Vista to the last State. Install SP1 and all other updates.
    Maybe it helps!

    Good luck

    Please help me!

For me, there is only one option: disable the automatic update to Vista.

By the way: when that happen, have you tried to boot the operating system in safe mode and roll back OS to an earlier time using System Restore tool?

  • Satellite Pro L770 - 12 p - Wake-up on LAN is not possible?

    Hello

I try to send a wake up message to LAN (WOL) on my laptop to propel to the top.
I failed to make it work.

But I do not see a strange thing happening: when I send a magic packet WOL while my laptop is running, the laptop restarts automatically after closing down.

It seems that the Magic Packet is stored somewhere (perhaps in the NIC?) and is activated once the cell phone is off. I think a magic packet must be ignored when a machine has already begun and not be recorded and executed after the PC is turned off again.

That being said, I did a test with another PC; I am able to send a magic packet via my business network. So the problem isn't somewhere else. But the BIOS of my Toshiba laptop does not pick up when the machine is off. Only when it is already running.

Is this a bug and this bug can be resolved?

    Kind regards

    Alfons

PS I have the latest version of the BIOS (v2.30) and I activated the Wake Up on LAN in the BIOS.

    Hello

According to the Toshiba driver page, the last BIOS update was 09/03/12 and I doubt that this new version of BIOS which will be released in the future. The Satellite Pro L770 series is already discontinued.

However, as far as I know the reactivation of the LAN option can be found in the properties of the LAN card.
Go to Device Manager-> LAN card-> properties-> Advanced tab
Here, you should check if the WOL is enabled.

By the way: the network driver seems to be Realtek. I recommend you update the driver of network directly from the page of the Realtek driver. I know that WOL is controlled at the level of the BIOS, but I think the update is worth a try.
