Solutions for XP Autorun problem
I saw three or four last messages complaining systems preinstalled with Windows XP where the AutoPlay function does not work. This occurs mainly with installation CD Autoplay works.
After looking around, I found the following ideas. Some of them have already been tried without success. I will update this post if a coherent solution is reported.
1. as described here, uninstall PowerDVD 7, then reinstalling, but do not install and fixes.
2. Remove upper and lower filters, use the interactive help that is described in this article.
3. try the Autoplay Repair Wizard.
4 activate the AutoPlay using TweakUI.
5. make sure that you are signed in as an administrator.
6. try this edition of registry (listed under Windows XP) or this other edit registry.

I have a problem with Autoruns on the computer.
Original title: Autorun problems
I wonder if anyone can help. I have Windows 7 64-bit edition.
Unfortunately I bought antivirus Bitdefender a few months previously. He tried an 'autorun Media"and recommended to turn off, that I allowed him to do. I then fed up as it stopped all the DVDs and USB keys from popping up automatically. But... and this is! There is no way in Bitdefender to reverse this trend. I emailed and received many unnecessary responses, which did not work. The same was told to download and run this file:
http://www.sevenforums.com/attachments/tutorials/200584d1330364432-autoplay-enable-disable-enable_autoplay.regBut nothing changed. I finally found a solution, surfing the internet. There were strings in my registry called something like nomediaautorun or similar, and I deleted them. Now USB sticks and DVDs pop up with a choice of options again. However, the automatic content of the DVDs does not load! In other words, if I put a game DVD in the computer, I don't get the automatic screen with the "install" etc options... I'm really fed up. I've looked around everywhere and can't find a solution. Can anyone help please??? Thanks.
Hello Ulrich,
As the problem persists after performing all the troubleshooting steps, it could be because the system of corruption files. To retrieve or replace these files, we will perform repair installation of Windows 7 that will not affect your personal files and settings. But, it will replace the missing or corrupted operating system files.

I tried to install Windows 7 Home Premium Upgrade, 32-bit version. My current system is an Intel iMac (later), with Windows XP - SP3 loaded as a virtual machine with Parallels Desktop 4.0 build 3848 (according to their website, it is supposed to support Windows 7).
I allocated enough space RAM and HARD drive of the virtual machine to run Windows 7. No matter what I do, when I try to run setup.exe, I get the error message: "the file 'autorun.dll' could not be loaded or is corrupt. Setup cannot continue. Error code is [0x7E].
The file 'autorun.dll' is present on the disk.
I saw on the internet that other people have also had this problem, with or without Parallels Desktop, and get a replacement DVD of Windows 7 program made no difference to them. Nor is it an available answer, I've seen.
My Windows 7 disc is new, so I was hoping that Microsoft could solve the problem for me?
Thank you.
OK, so, this response is a little late to come, but if you never solved...
I just encountered the same problem - editing similar (Mac, Parallels 5 in my case, the SP3 of XP, MS Windows 7 Home Premium Upgrade) - you must make sure that the DVDROM drive hardware is mapped to "D:" on your XP installation. Thus on the Parallels Desktop menu go to devices, CD/DVD1 and make sure that all your actual DVD player is called is selected (should be the vertical entry in the menu) - not true CD/DVD. The reader should then start and auto run.I hope this helps... -

On the startup problem Autorun feature
Hello
I'm having a strange question, try to have my request to start the boot device. I put the flag in the project settings and it would start to my application, but it would be sort of a State of 'sleep' - it will appear in the list of running applications, but in fact it does not work in the background until opened by the user. I couldn't find any post on this forum describing a similar problem. Do you have any idea what's going on?
I write a simple application to test what's going on, but he died with 156 error - application is not responding. It looks not to I'm blocking the event thread, so I don't know why it would not.
Here is the code example. Do you see something wrong?
/* * AutoStart.java * * ©
, 2003-2008 * Confidential and proprietary. */ import java.util.Timer; import java.util.TimerTask; import net.rim.device.api.ui.*; import net.rim.device.api.ui.component.*; import net.rim.device.api.ui.container.*; import net.rim.device.api.system.ApplicationManager; /** * */ class AutoStart extends UiApplication implements FieldChangeListener { private ButtonField mExitBtn; private LabelField mCntLabel; private Timer mTimer; private int mSecondCount; public static void main(String[] args) { System.out.println("AutoStart: entered main()"); ApplicationManager mgr = ApplicationManager.getApplicationManager(); System.out.println("AutoStart: waiting for system to initialize"); while (mgr.inStartup()) { try { Thread.sleep(2000); } catch (Exception e){} } AutoStart theApp = new AutoStart(); System.out.println("AutoStart: entering dispatcher"); theApp.enterEventDispatcher(); } AutoStart() { System.out.println("AutoStart: creating main screen"); // MainScreen is the basic screen or frame class of the RIM UI. With the help of another entry is a solution often proposed, but also brings its own problems. And in this case, it is not the reason for this problem.
The problem here is that you are trying to do a job on the thread of events, specifically, you wait until the device is ready. There was an article that made this kind of delay, but he did it in a background Thread. You do this in main().
I suggest instead to use this article that describes how do to wait until the device is ready to accept the interaction of your screen, without the wait loop.

This article presents similar information:
A lot of people will tell you you need to do your initialization using another entry. This is not true. There are good reasons to use another entry for this treatment, but it is not applicable in all cases and is certainly not in this case.

Windows 7 Installation problems - AutoRun.exe game does nothing
I have Windows 7 Home Premium on my laptop which is an Alienware M14x, and my brother also has the same version of Windows 7, but on another laptop (a lenovo). When I put a game disc in to install AutoPlay opens and I click on the option autorun.exe, eddies of cd autour inside but then nothing happens (the game menu which should appear to install, does not), even when I go in disk files and click on setup (what really shoulnt have to do) it usually installs , but then when the game menu appears the game does not allow me to start it. I have tried several games and have gotten only Age of Empires III to work after several tries. My brother can however take one of the games and click autorun.exe and it loads and installs as it should be and then works perfectly after installing, it is extremely annoying for me because I paid for a laptop friendly game then deny cases to games that are supposed to work and do as I saw on my brothers laptop computer. I would really like to know how to be able to get my laptop to act as his, so I install all my games without hassle.
Any help is greatly appreciated. Thank youHello

When I try to go to google.ca keep get a notification saying "this connection is not approved" I do not understand why? I use google.ca every day without any problem and now this has happened for 2 weeks. I use google in Internet Explorer, but not Firefox. I tried the ideas here in case of problems, but nothing seems to work. I uninstalled and deleted all folders for Firefox and reinstalled and still the same problem. Can someone help me please? Thanks in advance!
Fiddler is a proxy used by web developers to intercept and log web site requests and responses.
Assuming that you are not a web developer and are not knowingly run Fiddler, you may have installed other software that's decrypt your secure connections.
In a previous thread, it was associated with a program named BrowserSafeguard that suddenly appeared on the user's PC and set to start automatically with Windows: why Firefox doesn't let me go to Google when it is in the toolbar anyway?
You can check this in your control panel, uninstall a program. By clicking on the header for column installation date should help find the latest items, but also help unravel how unexpected software got installed (usually part of a set with something else you wanted to actually).
In the previous thread, the user posted a screen of the Microsoft Autoruns utility. In this capture (see attachment here) the screen icon program looks like a spider web, where this helps to identify it.
Can track you?
I also recommend cleaning your system with many of the tools listed in this article, in case it is part of a wider infection: Troubleshooting Firefox problems caused by malware.

Portege R700 - no autorun for CD/DVD and USB keys
In my Portege R700 there is no way to make autorun works (for key USB and CD/DVD as well). CD/DVD and USB keys work perfectely, but not the autorun.
I tried to use both the automatic repair of Microsoft and PowerToys, but the problem that it is still there. I also tried to change the registry, but it seems that the changes are not retained. I suspect that it is something related to some utilities or so.
Can someone help me?Thanks in advance.
GerlandoHey,.
> I suspect that it is something related to some utilities or so.
What utilities you have installed? Theoretically, they could block the autorunNormally if autorun doesn t work on XP, you can enable it in the Windows registry:
Start > run > regeditThe registry editor will open and go to:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER / Software / Microsoft / Windows / CurrentVersion / policies / Explorer
Double-click the NoDriveTypeAutoRun value and set the value of 91.Now he must navigate to:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE / SYSTEM / CurrentControlSet / Services / CdromDouble-click the AutoRun value and set the value to 1.
Now restart your computer and try it again, usually autorun should work again.
Additionally, make sure that the latest Service Pack is installed for XP (SP3). -
Problem with TSSTcorp TS-L632D TO04 CD/DVGW stoped burning CD and DVD
Hello world! The problem is basically just, he doesn't want to write/burn any cd/dvd brand more. He works wonders for little over a year and recently developed this problem. I'm sure that's not media brands I've tried with several. The problem with Nero, Alcohol120%, MagicISO, PowerISO, Burn4Free, regardless of what I am trying to burn data, audio, regular programs or images. Note that I am able to write with alcohol with success but there is in fact nothing on the CD and Nero burns the data also but fails to verify after the fact and gives an error. Writing on DVD R/RW is completely failed, creating coasters. Also the Player opens without reason and when he wants. I have laptop Toshiba A200 - 1 MB under original Vista Home Premium. Here's an error report, hopefully it'll help. Thanks and any assistance is much appreciated!

Try to remove the CD/DVD filters in the registry.
When the associated CD/DVD (such as iTunes, Nero, virtual CD software), the software is installed, they install filters in the registry, which can cause compatibility problems.(1) run Regedit (start-> Run-> Regedit)
2) navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Contro l\Class\ {4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}
(3) in the right pane, delete the "UpperFilters" key and delete the key "LowerFilters".
(4) restart. If your CD/DVD programs stop working, you will need to reinstall them (preferably with an updated version).
This utility can remove the filters for you:

HP Pavilion 23: startup problems
Because we bought our computer in October 2014, we had many problems with the start, problems of drivers, startup problems, graphic card problems and more. It was supposed to be fixed once by the bu retailer still, there are questions. The biggest problem is starting:-it freezes, error messages that say lag not found drivers or disk not detected though when checked is. Also, we have done numerous resets hard which are just a quick temporary solution and back problems. We pay every month for a service contract with the retailer, but they mostly just try to run the store for our computer repair you... NOT HAPPY because for the third day, we bought there have been problems and we haven't bought a computer to sit in a workshop constantly, not at the price we paid coupled with the monthly fee for whatr amounts to nothing. Is there something we can do to solve this problem without driving miles and being without a computer that actually, we bought to USE?
Hello
Without compromising your contract, I suggest
SYSINTERNALS which is a suite of tiny applications bit that may help.
https://TechNet.Microsoft.com/en-us/Sysinternals/default
Now only 3 or 4 are likely to be beneficial, and some does not at all because they are for servers etc.
Thus a special interest may be...
AutoRuns
LoadOrder
RamMap (maybe)
Contig (maybe)
PageDfrg
ROOTKITREVEALER
DiskView (maybe)
PsInfo (not really)

After trying a few please ask if there is something to be interpreted.
I suggest you turn off auto update if you can.

Problem with computor saying "not responding" and lock, any ideas please.
Problem with computor saying "not responding" and lock, any ideas please.
Provide you any other information. You have to give to get when it comes to troubleshooting.
Given that don't even give you an operating system - replace the defective hardware. ;-)
What specific operating system you use? Include the service pack level and architecture (SP1, SP2, SP3... (32 - bit or 64 - bit?)
I'm guessing that has happened since the first day - of a lifetime of computers - what happened between he works and does not? New software installed? All new hardware installed or attached?
Did you * nothing * to try to remedy the situation? If so - what?
Be specific. Ignore the cameras, microphones and remote viewing software, we have installed in your home, clothing and computer. Pretend that we do not understand what you do and save it for future reference. * smile * (should be easy - we don't have).
Stuff in general, you could do (as long as you use a Microsoft Windows Operating System after the year 2000...)
Search for malware:
Download, install, execute, update and perform analyses complete system with the two following applications:
Remove anything they find. Reboot when necessary. (You can uninstall one or both when finished.)
Search online with eSet Online Scanner.
The less you have to run all the time, most things you want to run will perform:
Use Autoruns to understand this all starts when your computer's / when you log in. Look for whatever it is you do not know usingGoogle (or ask here.) You can hopefully figure out if there are things from when your computer does (or connect) you don't not need and then configure them (through their own built-in mechanisms is the preferred method) so they do not - start using your resources without reason.
You can download and use Process Explorer to see exactly what is taking your time processor/CPU and memory. This can help you to identify applications that you might want to consider alternatives for and get rid of all together.
Update your drivers for hardware devices from the manufacturer themselves - do not use the built-in features of Windows. If you want, come back and let us know a bit more information on your system - particularly the brand / model of the system, you have - and maybe someone here can guide you to the place s x of law to this end. This isn't 100% necessary - but I'd be willing to bet that you would gain some performance and features in making this part.

Problem with the microsoft lifecam vx-5000 appication on my windows xp 32-bit
I recently bought the lifecam vx-5000 and installed the software from the cd provided in the box. The webcam application fails and cannot open. It says that an error has occurred and must be closed. Also, the webcam is not detectable by Skype. I've download the latest version of the software (for my windows xp 32-bit) on the site but the problem still exists. What's not?
