Windows 7 Installation problems - AutoRun.exe game does nothing

I have Windows 7 Home Premium on my laptop which is an Alienware M14x, and my brother also has the same version of Windows 7, but on another laptop (a lenovo). When I put a game disc in to install AutoPlay opens and I click on the option autorun.exe, eddies of cd autour inside but then nothing happens (the game menu which should appear to install, does not), even when I go in disk files and click on setup (what really shoulnt have to do) it usually installs , but then when the game menu appears the game does not allow me to start it. I have tried several games and have gotten only Age of Empires III to work after several tries. My brother can however take one of the games and click autorun.exe and it loads and installs as it should be and then works perfectly after installing, it is extremely annoying for me because I paid for a laptop friendly game then deny cases to games that are supposed to work and do as I saw on my brothers laptop computer. I would really like to know how to be able to get my laptop to act as his, so I install all my games without hassle.

Any help is greatly appreciated. Thank you

The windows 2000 Setup program crashes with a "page in a no fault paged area" in acpi.sys just at the moment where the status in the status bar has been changed from windows 2000. • Windows 7 installation problem Pavilion dv6-6c45eg

Since I have a free license for windows 7 Professional at home, I decided to install it on my new Pavilion dv6-6c45eg that came with Windows 7 Home Premium.

The problem is that the installation process stops at the beginning and said something like: "A required CD/DVD drive driver is missing... ", then he gives me the choice to load a driver. I googled a lot since yesterday and there seems to be something related to the SATA driver, however even load the SATA driver installation is not moving forward, after loading the driver it say that no new units have been detected.

    What I tried:

    * Install Windows 7 x 32 and x 64
    * Install from a USB flash drive

    * Install Windows 8 (same problem in Windows 7)

    * Check the SATA in the BIOS (not possible to see or modify on the BIOS F.19)

    * Search for the shortcomings of HD (even changed the HD)

I'm sure it's something related to a driver, because I also installed Linux (OpenSuse, Fedora and Ubuntu) operating systems and they work fine.
So, I would appreciate help to solve this problem.
    Thank you very much.

  • Windows will not start and automatic repair does nothing

    Hello
I am on Windows 8 on my desk of game and encountered problems with the start-up. Whenever I try to start the computer, it does this:
    (1) prepare the auto repair

    (2) diagnose your PC
    (3) auto repair couldn't fix your PC
Whenever I try to click on anything in the advanced options it says I need to sign as an administrator but no accounts are displayed. He then tells me to restart my PC that starts the whole cycle again.
Is there a solution to this problem? I really prefer NOT wipe the hard drive clean as I already downloaded more than 200 GB of Steam games in the past few months and only have 35 GB per month to redownload the.

    Hi Hazza,

    Thank you for the update.

When you perform a custom Windows installation, Windows creates a Windows.old folder that contains your previous system files. You can retrieve your personal files from the Windows.old folder and move them to the customized Windows installation.

  • Windows 7 installation problem - I can not load the disc of windows 7 for

I can't get windows disk to load 7. I am trying to run the full version on top of XP.
When I open my computer, always open the D drive then its empty. Any ideas?

ETA, I try to install the 32 bit one

    I have an answer!

At least, it worked for me tonight, and I pray it works out for others in this situation.

I got exactly the same problem as you, except that I wanted to replace Vista with a clean install of Windows 7 on a computer of the 32-bit system IE.  But, like you, it just has not been grateful that there is a disc in there after that many 'click' would say tell me to insert a disc or that there was a disk failure.  I have since bought nine from a retailer, and was not very impressed and nor am I impressed by the response from Microsoft about this problem and must send them a letter expressing my displeasure.  Issues such as this must be properly studied and perhaps added to the 'specifications' of the software to warn buyers to potential problems of certain brands or models of PC.  In my opinion be told to get off the USB drive with a process that most of the audience would find almost impossible to understand and follow and with the many added costs of having to buy a portable hard drive, large enough DVD or USB drive is unacceptable, as far as Windows 7 is not an item to purchase low price as it is.

In any case, this is what worked for me.

I came to the conclusion that I wasn't going to lose more than £100 and so I have to use a laptop hard drive in order to make the suggested drive of USB and copy the disc on the laptop hard drive.

I went into 'my computer', inserted the disc and he started his stupid clicking on and was not recognized, but in the list readers on the left side, I dragged all drive "E" (which is my DVD player and where the disc of Windows 7 was) on the USB hard drive.  This does not seem to have an effect, so I click with the right button on the E drive and press "copy" and "Paste" on the USB hard drive.  Now, I'm not sure if there is just a delay between the first process or if it was this process that has worked (as a result, please try both), but suddenly it seemed to 'wake up' the disc and it was recognized instantly and "run setup.exe" appeared in a pop-up and I could finally install Windows 7!  (Please Note - Although the disc began to copy it to the USB, I could have cancelled at any time so didn't need actually portable hard drive for this process - it just seems to 'wake up' when I tried to copy it somewhere else).

I really hope it works for all those stuck with this problem and would like to hear if it has.

Another point to note is that during installation, the computer will restart several times, and each time restarted mine, it got stuck on the screen black 'boot from CD' (due to the computer not recognize drive).  It was, fortunately, easy to solved for me to eject the disc and then close it again (leaving the disc, of course).  The rest of the installation was fine.

Please, please post on here if the works above for one of you who have problems.  I sincerely hope that it is.

Do I have a problem? Should what steps I take? Thank you.

    Hi jayalan,

Welcome to the Microsoft Answers site!

The updates take time depending on the size of the file. If the update has hung so I suggest you hard reboot the computer and see if you can boot to the desktop. If you can boot to the desktop and then the updates are not installed will appear and which will be installed during the next update.

Once done with the step above after starting the computer on the desk. I suggest that reset you Windows Update components and perhaps that should take care of the updates. install the updates by selecting two both than some updates system needs to reboot for the changes to take effect.

Access the link below to reset the Windows Update components automatically.

If the computer does not start on the desktop, then I suggest you to start safe mode and see if you can boot to the desktop. Once you are in the office, do a system restore which will take the computer to a time where it was working fine.

  • Windows xp installation problems

Unfortunately I have no error message as such, first of all the toolbar menu bar and start disappeared in an irreversible way, at the same time that no executable programs would work, no sound would not play and only internet browser as well as wading through my folders and files was the only operational things. After an attempt to remedy this situation, I was told (online) to reinstall windows xp, this seemed an idea without danger at the same time, as I did before attaching unrelated problems, however, when reinstalling (or should I say before installation was complete) in one of the many process, the pc would restart and get to the device registration screen , from there, it's been jammed indefinitely, and flashing icons of many colors and forms have appeared and in some cases, replace a word or a number. (placement and Visual icon seem to be completely random)

I also read (before attempts to reinstall) it could be a malware problems, well that sounded rather difficult for me, as the malware program would not start let alone clean all the above questions. I have redownloaded malwarebytes and again, unsuccessfully, to get any .exe program to initialize even. An error appeared in keeping it (unfortunately silly me, I had not planned this far ahead and has not copied the error name/numbers)

I have tried many various difficulties through the system recovery and repair, but without success, I know it's not good to go, but any help at all would be greatly appreciated.

    * note * my usb ports are both issues and was not able to get the most recent of my files on an external hard drive etc, I would really like to come out of this with my hard drive in tact.

Alternatively, you can attach your hard drive as 2nd drive or slave for other PC work and then just copy the data off the coast.

Because of the strange characters and colors I would always start the recovery console

Unfortunately it did not work and the same colors and icons appeared at startup boot via the controls proved to be without success either.

I have yet to try this another recovery disc, I'll try that now, other then that, it seems that it would be a fixed format.

Respectfully, that you try many different things absolutely without success. I encourage you strongly to create this live cd, following the instructions on the link in my previous post, recover your files, reformat, re-install and do with it.

Any method allows you to retrieve your files get and do. You have re-installed windows 10 times since your first post and have been without headaches. It's just my recommendation of course.

    Dear Apple community.

First of all I know that the topic was discussed a few more times, but after I tried to follow the instructions and directions and patterns almost everywhere on the net I am a blind spot.

I have an iMac 27 "end 2012. I managed to install Windows 7 with Bootcamp through a combination of different methods, on line. (downloaded the Bootcamp Support 5.1.5621 software as described in many forums)

But I am stuck because I always have problems with my UBS3 ports that do not allow my keyboard and graphic tablet to work (I had to uninstall the app in safe mode to return to UB2) and the resolution of the screen that is only 1280 x 720 at the arrow, trash and other stuff that appear distorted.

Since I'm on some architecture and 3D modeling programs in Windows I want to ask for help because I don't really know where to look further.

When I solve the problem, I promise to write here a detailed method to install win7 on iMac late 2012 for those in need.

I was told that I would have no problem of family Windows XP Setup on a new computer comes pre loaded with Windows 7 Starter.

When I insert the CD with Windows XP, I get the following:

    Run setup.exe

I click on install Windows XP

Program is blocked due to compatibility issues.

Setup cannot continue because the version on the computer is newer than the version on CD.

Anyone know how to solve this problem and install Windows XP?

    Thank you Don

    Hello

I understand that you want to install Windows XP on Windows 7 Starter Edition.

    (1) is the retail Windows XP version or OEM version, you are trying to install?

Unfortunately, this is not possible. As the operating system installed on your computer is newer than the operating system you are trying to install.

To resolve this problem, you need to do a clean install to install Windows XP, and you try to run Windows 7 Setup, it will not work. So, I suggest you to boot from the XP CD (if necessary, first change the boot order in the BIOS) and follow the instructions for a clean install. It will initially format the drive for you, so make sure you back up everything you don't want to lose to external media first.

I hope this helps. Try the above steps and get back to us for assistance. We will be happy to help you.

  • Windows 7 installation problem: device driver cd/dvd not found___

I am running Windows XP 32-bit and just bought the Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit. I ran the update Advisor and I can run the 64-bit version - I'm running a 3gig dual-core rig.
When I start the computer from the windows disk it says above (job title) after waiting ages in the installation program. It is not also take me to a page to do a clean install, as in windows XP when you went blue screen startup. All I want to do is to format my C drive and install Windows 7 above, but happens as if I want to that I don't have.

I don't want to format my hard drive to find that Windows 7 does not correctly or the other? Any suggestions? Why what is happening and why can't I just do a clean install - i.e. Delete partition, format partition etc and install Windows 7?

There are 2 main threads for this issue, which seems to be related to the retail drives (and others):

And the other is a general discussion thread:

    http://social.answers.Microsoft.com/forums/en-us/w7install/thread/c211ce29-8e5c-4A2F-AEEE-fc2a6e62aef5

I posted a few solutions in the first thread, so I would check everything first.

Also, can you let me know if your machine is a gateway?

I hope this helps. If you find my answer was what you're looking for, remember to click on the box "mark as answer" below!
