• VCAP 5 of the VCP 4 certification path

  Currently, I am a VCP on vSphere 4.  If I want to become a VCAP on vSphere 5 once the version and its test are available, what is the path to get there?  Will I need to re-certify as a VCP on vSphere 5 year next before taking the VCAP review at vSphere5?  Or can I go straight from VCP4 to VCAP5 once the VCAP5 test is available?

  I think that first we should wait for the release of vSphere 5 (end of 2011 of maybe?).

  Then, first of all is generally defined the new VCP5 review and upgrade to VCP4.

  Then probably the VCAP exams, but I guess you must be VCP5 to take them.

  I just recently had my VCP5 and I plan to start studying for my VCAP but I noticed the following thread: Re: VCAP exams is being gradually...

  It is, will change the goals, etc.? This would affect me if I got my VCAP-DCA in the meantime? If I have to spend another review for the VTC VCIX or just change the title?

  It is only the new track of virtualization of network which includes the new VCIX element at the moment - he there is no news on the existing VTC, DT, and tracks of cloud.

  So, for now I continue as planned to the VCAP-DCA or VCAP-DCD (you don't tell you you're aiming for)

• VCAP-DCA5 & VCAP-DCD5

  Hello

  I have booekd the VCAP-DCA5 & reviews VCAP-DCD5 with the intention of going to the VCDX after, but I was wondering if anyone knows if they bring a new vSphere this year that would make these redundant reviews?

  I would not that to study and sit both of foregoing to then go resit the next version of it to be able to do the VCDX.

  Any ideas? Or simply sit them and then go straight on the preparation of the VCDX?

  Welcome to the community - because VCDX is your ultimate goal, I would continue to pursue the current versions of these exams and the VCDX for two reasons: upgrades to the offbeat VCDX the relaese software by more than one year and the VCAP exams - the other reason is that currently to upgrade a VCDX all you need to do is pass the DCD examfor this version or tract.

• VCAP general issues

  I think to improve with the next challenge of vmware and am looking for VCAP exams.

  I would like to have information on 2 reviews (data center admin and Design) and their differences.

  I like both actually, but depending on the type of questions, preparation and duration of the review, I have more clear idea.

  I'm already VCP 3-4-5.

  Can someone give me as much information as possible?

  Yes, just like the VCAP exams, you have full access to the NSX-6 documentation center.

  As the VCAP-CIA and CID VCAP certification exams have been removed and are no longer available, the VCAP certifications are no longer required for this specific certification.

  So after can completing certification VCP-cloud (VCP550) I directly ask VCDX-Cloud?

  YYes is correct and this is a temporary situation through the defenses of October and on VCDX5 only. After October during the liberation of VCDX6 and for 2016 based solely on defenses 6 version will be available and this waiver will no longer exist and VCIX will still be necessary. It's only for a limited time, it is not permanent.

  Depends on what you use the most and how much time you have done on the VCAP exams. If no then I wanted to wait for VCIX-6 and just do one of these exams and then you will get automatically the VCP6. Rumors are VCIX exams are early next with the beta version due to arrive any day now

  1. It consists of two exams, but if you did say VCAP5-DCA then you only have to do the review VCIX-Design for VCIX. Unlike the VCAP exams well if you pass one without any prerequisite VCAP so you do not get a VCIX, you will spend together for VCIX6-VTC
  2. Depends on what your working days, but learning new technology is always better IMO. BUT VCIX is probably going out in 3-4 months
  3. Much like above, beta exams have not yet started so probably only December/jan2016 time. Also the lack of resources to study for a bit

• VCP550 Clarification of DELTA

  Would it not possible to clarify the requirements for the following 3 pre test?

  VCP550-VTC (Delta) - it's one you can take online.

  VCAP55-DCA

  VCAP55-DCD

  I was led to believe that VCP5.0 certification (which I currently hold) was a pre - req sufficient for the Delta.

  I think this is wrong and that the 5.1 is the actual pre - req.

  If 5.1 s pre-required for the Delta, I prefer to go a little further and take exams VCAP rather than Delta.

  Is there a time limit (such as the date of 10 March) on the VCAP exams?

  I can take these VCAP exams at any time without making the course of 5 days VMware?

  Anyone know how long must we wait for the result after taking the exam VCIX? 15 business day or within 24 hours as other admin vcap exams?

• How to prepare VMware VCP 5?

  Hi all, I intend to take 5 secure Channel data center review in the next 6 months. Part of my role is to support the VM servers, but that does not give me an exhibition full of technology. I want to own a practice laboratory where I can create, modify, migrate virtual computer servers. What is the best way to create a laboratory? VMware workstation has limited features, i.e. I can not reproduce w/o SAN infrastructure. Can what tools I use? How VMware professional prepare for VCP, VCAP exams?

  As others have said, VMware Workstation is adequate for the preparation in the review of VCP 5. You will not be able to cover every single goal in terms of the review with the workstation-based laboratory installation, but you probably wouldn't be able to do this without a pure material laboratory very very expensive still. Get VMware Workstation on a host with as much RAM as possible and go from there. For the goal, you can't reproduce in your lab of the workstation (FCoE, cf anything) spend reading a little more time and see also on youtube. The number of objectives you can not cover with this lab setup is few and really should not be enough to make the difference between the past and do not.

In addition, William Lam (lamw) has a lot of excellent information on nested FT, ESXi and more http://www.virtuallyghetto.com which can be very useful for building the lab.

  The only thing I can say with the laboratory of the workstation is to never get too attached to your configuration. Do not think that this is a static environment and think about all the virtual machines as throw. If you are outside resources and need to turn a new Windows VM to test the Update Manager or other software, then just clean up and go for it. You may need to do a little more work with this approach, but which only will prepare you more.

• Materials available during the review of the VCAP-DCA

  Hi guys,.

  Who will be my VCAP-DCA exam at the end of the month.

  I was reviewing notes and format of the DCA, and it is not clear what materials are available to the candidate during the examination.

  Are functions online help or the documents available to the candidate during the DCA?

  Or do we have to memorize all the menu items and orders for this review?

  You will have access to all the functions of built-in help of interfaces and the different tools and documentation that refers to the action plan.

  But, time is tight and you have to rely on access to these things as little as possible - in the best position to be in is not not to refer to the documentation/help at all.

  I did DCA on vSphere 4 and the same is true for this - I haven't used documentation for a couple of tasks and should make reference to the CLI help a few times - screen strive to keep that to a minimum.
