Awesome Bar looks different to 16.01

Since the upgrade of 15.0.1 to 16.01, I noticed the Awesome Bar seems bigger, and some things are highlighted. It's embarrassing to me. Y at - it a correction option or rollback add-on?

Try to add this code in the file userChrome.css below default @namespace.

Customization files (interface) userChrome.css and userContent.css (Web sites) are located in the chrome folder in the user profile folder.

You can use this button to go to the Firefox profile folder:

  • Help > troubleshooting information > profile directory: see file

You must create the folder chrome (lowercase) in the profile with the random name (default) folder and place a file inside userChrome.css.

Make sure that you select "All files" and not "text files" when you use Notepad or another editor to create and save the file.

Otherwise, Windows can add a hidden .txt file extension and you end up with one does not no userChrome.css.txt file.

  • Awesome Bar search are more all bookmarks after update of FF 34

I just upgraded to FF34 and having a horrible time, everything works well again. My current problem is that when I type a name in the awesome bar, it will not look at ALL my favorites. It shows some, but not all. For example if I type Dev, it shows correctly my bookmark for the Guru Dev. If I type fire, it shows nothing even though I have 4-5 bookmarks related to firefox. If I type the letter "s" I see 5 favorite partners but not good. I have the address bar in the historical settings and bookmarks. I have not found solutions on the web and am at a loss what to try next. I even deleted the bookmark and it added. Doesn't seem to help.

I eventually found my own solution. For anyone who is interested, here is what I had to do to solve this problem:

Steps to solve the problem of the Awesomebar (address bar), not finding a few bookmarks:
Press Ctrl + Shift + B to display all bookmarks
    Click on import and backup
    Click backup
    Save the file
    Closing of Firefox
Go to the Mozilla Director profile (on a Windows 7 box is probably in C:\Users\YourUserName\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox\YouFireFoxProfileName)
Make a copy of the folder bookmarkbackups, places.sqlite, places.sqlite - shm and places.sqlite - wal
Remove all files in the bookmarkbackups folder
    Delete the places.sqlite, places.sqlite - shm and places.sqlite - wal
    Open Firefox
Press Ctrl + Shift + B to display all bookmarks
    Click on import and backup
Click on restore > > choose file
    Select the file from earlier

  • The 'Awesome Bar' does not work. He does not remember anything of the bookmarks

Just updated again Firefox. In the past, when I'd start typing a site in the firefox address bar it would complete as it was already in my favorites. But now it does nothing. It just sits there waiting for me the full address. I could start typing Netf and it automatically end Netflix.com

Why is happening. Also, for the first days of the new version I had to go back in the tools, Options and reset things at least 3 or 4 times before they finally remained as I wanted.

I would say he never remember history and after while I would look and he said, do not forget history. I wanted a blank start page, and not to change it. It's normal now but the Awesome Bar does not at all.

Your bookmarks are displayed in the drop-down list auto suggestion?

Otherwise: Under Options > confidentiality, in the lower part, does always show that Firefox should suggest bookmarks in the location bar?

If auto-suggest works but the AutoFill does, you may check that it has not been disabled here:

    (1) in a new tab, type or paste Subject: config in the address bar and press ENTER. Click on the button promising to be careful.

    (2) in the search above the list box, type or paste autofs and make a pause so that the list is filtered

    (3) If browser.urlbar.autoFill preference is "BOLD" and "user" false, double-click it to change its value to the default value true. It should work in new tabs.

It already is the value true, hmm, I wonder if there is a problem of private browsing? (I didn't test with automatic private browsing).

  • Stop Search Suggestions in the awesome bar

Google is my default search engine. I followed the instructions to disable Search Suggestions in Firefox 13. Unfortunately, this seems to work if I search from the search bar. If I am looking in the awesome bar, that I prefer, search suggestions are always displayed. Prevent search suggestions from the Awesome Bar as well? I can do this in Google Chrome - please tell me I can do it in Firefox!

The way to do it in Chrome is enter the following URL in your default search engine:

    https://www.Google.com/search?hl=en & full = 0 & site = webhp & q = %s & btnK = Google + Search

I don't see a way to do this in Firefox 13. BTW, the above URL also prevents Google Autocomplete and Google instant.

OK, thanks for the clarification - you can enter Subject: config in the locationbar and search for the preference named keyword.url. DoubleClick and assign https://www.google.com/search?hl=en & full = 0 & site = webhp & q = - this should also redirect searches from the address bar of firefox version of google without suggestions.

  • No matter what I type in the awesome bar, it just redirects to the homepage of Google.

  • Awesome bar taking me to incorrect pages

When I start typing a URL in the Awesome bar (for example msnbc.com) Firefox starts to load the pages based on my story. Sometimes it seems to block on a page, and even when I continue typing in the URL that I want, and then press ENTER to access this URL, Firefox remains with the page suggested rather than go to the URL I typed. I've looked through the instructions on how to use the Awesome bar, but did not understand how to prevent that from happening. It happens on my windows machine 7, not my Vista machine. Both are defined in Options-Privacy suggest "history and bookmarks.

This may be due to a problem with the places.sqlite file that stores the bookmarks and history.

Start Firefox in Firefox to solve the issues in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions of the origin of the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox (Tools) > Add-ons > appearance/themes).

  • How can I turn off default 1 search result in the awesome bar?

Since the release of 43, it seems that the Awesome bar fills the first result as a generic 'visit' or 'Search' for anything typed in the bar. It's very frustrating because I know where I want to go, and my search history used to fill specific sites, I went to. This new feature to the Awesome Bar takes you is a generic search engine default search, or right on the first page for a specific site.

For example, it may be a forum page that I regularly to. and in the latest Firefox would fill this page first in my results, which allows a fast navigation. However, the most recent update makes it do that the first result is a query to perform a generic search for what I typed in, or at best to take me to the first page of the site in question, make me have to either type the URL complete, favorite every page ever, I want to navigate to and just use bookmarks now or , or cross my fingers and pray that they default 1 result in the Awesome bar accurately reflects my wishes of navigation (which he never does).

    Is it possible to either:

    1. find the process that causes this 1 default result in the Awesome bar and disable/delete, preferably with extreme prejudice.

2 prevent the features of Firefox that interacts with a browser default search?

In its current form, I deliberately ignore the 1st result of the Awesome Bar, because it never fulfills what I want. Specifically, it will fill never I don't want things.

    Hi Danon72.

To disable the 'Visit' item in the list, please edit the preference browser.urlbar.unifiedcomplete in The editor of Configuration of Firefox to false.

  • How can I remove the default awesome bar visit link?

I just upgraded to firefox v43.0.1 and the awesome bar began including that this "visit < URL >" link whenever I have started typing a few letters. It's driving me crazy. The only thing I want to show that it is my favorite items (i.e. marked with a bookmark). This "visit < URL >" just started to appear immediately after I've updated today.

The only thing I've enabled in tools > Options > privacy > address 'Bookmarks' bar which is how it has always been. Why is it now show this '< URL > visit' in the drop-down list and how do I get rid of him?

This is a new feature in Firefox 43. To turn it off to do this:

    1. Go about: config in Firefox
    2. Click on the I'll be careful button
    3. Locate the Boolean browser.urlbar.unifiedcomplete
    4. Change the false value

Note: You may need to restart Firefox for the changes to take effect.
