Backup bookmarks to restore old FF?

I've updated my OS Ubuntu 12.04 and now have the latest Firefox (Windblows crashed and had to).
I have some old FF backups of my favorites (bookmarks... json), which are essential for my business.
When I followed the instructions to restore here I don't get food options in the library of history.
I'm not a grumpy, please help in simple terms.

Thank you for your help and a great product.

I FOUND IT!
Apparently in Ubuntu in the top toolbar options appear only when your cursor is on it.
Everything is there, and I got my restored favorites.
Thank you & sorry.

  • How to restore old favorites after having made a Firefox update?

I did a Refresh Firefox to get rid of Bing (it worked). The Mozilla site said she would keep important things, but all bookmarks are gone.

Sorry to hear about this. Here are two things to try:

    (1) to restore a backup of the bookmark. The following article has steps to call the restore function. If the backup is not available in your current Firefox profile (settings) file, they should be listed by date:

Restore backup bookmarks or move them to another computer

    (2) restoring a backup file bookmark old data of Firefox on your desktop. Refresh moves your previous settings to a folder of old data of Firefox on your desktop.

Do you see this folder? If so, please check inside a folder named semi-randomly and check the inside of a folder named bookmarkbackups. If you have, please use the article #1 above, but "Select a file" option to restore one of the backups in the folder on your desktop.

  • Primary lost FF8 bookmarks left with old-fashioned imported to FF 4 years ago

Running Mac OS x. A large collection of my current bookmarks have disappeared. Backup files of bookmark of restoration since the days preceding the loss also lack the very large collection of current bookmarks. I checked the Firefox profile folder - there is only one profile on my system.

Also many flavicon for old bookmarks that are still in the library are now dotted boxes blank. It is also a new circumstance in history.

Time Machine saved me. I returned to a saved Nov 10 Firefox file 'Profile' to restore all of my favorites. I tried three times in Firefox 8 and whenever the bookmarks will begin to disappear. I finally uninstalled reinstalled FF7, FF8, asked Time Machine to return to the registered 'profile', and I am once more together. I'll add my voice to the many users who are frustrated with the numerous towers Firefox which in my case has led to 8 + hours of struggles of system I didn't have the time.

  • Copy a folder of bookmarks/favorites of old installon

I had a damaged computer Win 8. I thought that I had identified the favorites/bookmarks folder.
(places.sqlite) copied to a disc of stick.

I copied this file in my new (now Win7) operating system. Foxfire files, but it didn't work. Actually removed some bookmarkes 36 new that I had already done. Last updated restoration has failed.

Another site suggested that I backup Favorites (on my stick drive) on my backup computer. This is more than a year, but that doesn't work anymore. The backup file was named bookmarks-2004-02-13json.
This came from a different computer on Windows 7.

So I was able to save, but I can't find a way to restore it to this computer. What gives?

    TIA

To restore the json file go to Favorites > > show all bookmarks > > import and backup > > food > > Choose file , then select the json file.

  • Need to automate import/export or backup bookmarks for an organization

I work in it for a (business) medium sized organization. I need a way to export and export bookmarks for all my users and I need it in a way that is automated or CLI (babysitting 100 + laptops and import in person are not an option). We transfer users to the new laptops in three weeks, but we need this feature to exist later too (so we can build something to automate backups of bookmark and restore with our internal network). We use Zenworks to work, but we have other options of script too.

Any link I found on the command line options to run Firefox with other tools does not allow me to do what I need (that is, I have a way to export to a html element, but it is important do not; - switch migration gives me a GUI). All the resources that I found on Firefox command line arguments are not consistent and not clear on what the options work with which version. As such, I don't even know if options exist which would really help.

Due to security issues, running a plugin or off-site storage favorite's options.

I found the existence of profiles.ini and was able to write a script (beats windows cmd - God help me) to get out of this directory is created for the profile and then copy the files on the user's network drive. I also wrote one to copy a disc on their new profile user network. At this point, the problem I encounter is that firefox does not use the file most recent bookmark - < date > .json who gets slapped in the directory. Something else must refer to what bookmark file name to use. Hoping that there is something in the registry or in a plain text, not a sqllite db file, otherwise I am bit watered.

I guess my question is the following... is there not an easier way to do this, or a command line option (firefox) to do what I need?

Instead, someone has an idea of how I can tell firefox to use a specific bookmark to begin with, or the newest one in the directory profile? Once, it should be hands-off. This isn't a solution for one person.

And third, if there is no answer to my first question, my question to the developers of Firefox is "why is this omitted basic functionality"? In my opinion, it is obvious and quite serious, I'd be willing to call a bug. Many others have the same problem. (If I don't get a viable solution for the first two questions, I'll follow with it in a more appropriate forum or email...)

Thank you people, you really helped my pull together a solution! I think that this solution will be fine for now (I'm under these .bat files as long as the user, no system or an administrator.) I am Deploying via Zenworks, if there is more than one title to skin this cat...

    For exports that I did a file named override.ini I put it in c:\program files (x 86) \mozilla firefox\ that it contains:

    • [XRE]
    • EnableProfileMigrator = false

... I needed to do it because I didn't want the GUI to auto import on a first run (turns me off, no matter that it is actually necessary or not in this case).

Beats my export file for XP (because of goto:EOF, you must run cmd.exe for this one with / x):

    • Set copycmd = / y
    • c:
    • If not exist them "%userprofile%\application data\mozilla\firefox\profiles.ini" goto:EOF
    • CD "%userprofile%\application data\mozilla\firefox\.
    • for /f "tokens = 1, 2 delims = /" % in (' findstr/l ".default" profiles.ini") together called var1 = %% j
    • CD profiles\%var1%
    • otherwise there is h:\backupbookmarks (mkdir H:\backupbookmarks)
    • copy H:\backupbookmarks places.sqlite

My .bat import for Windows 7 file:

    • Set copycmd = / y
    • Start "browser" /d "C:\Program Files (x 86) \Mozilla Firefox" firefox.exe
    • time-out period 7
    • c:
    • CD %userprofile%\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox\
    • for /f "tokens = 1, 2 delims = /" % in (' findstr/l ".default" profiles.ini") together called var1 = %% j
    • CD profiles\%var1%
    • If exist h:\backupbookmarks\places.sqlite copy h:\backupbookmarks\places.sqlite

Hope that helps someone else out there. I did similar scripts for Chrome and Safari too, so I should really this post on my blog... will have to start a blog that is not only Linux, though!

  • restore old profile folder location? or at least recover my favorites?

Hello, after a windows update, I opened firefox and he started as a new installation, I lost bookmarks and passwords, and plugins. I got my thought of folder (change date before the update of victory) profile that all my information is there. Can restore it? or at least... retrieve my favorites?

    Hello

You can try to replace these files in the backup in the current Firefox profile folder after the release of Firefox: places.sqlite to bookmarks + history, bookmarksbackup folder for just the bookmarks dated restoration via Favorites (Alt + B) feature > show all bookmarks > import and backup, signons3.txt + siqnons.sqlite for passwords saved etc. The installed plugins are detected automatically by Firefox and appear in (Alt + T) Tools > Addons > Plugins.

  • Restore the database to 10.2.0.1 (should I restore old saved oraInventory)?

    Hello everyone;

    Hello!  Hello all;

If the upgrade process fails, should I restore old oraInventory directory?

Already I have saved $ORACLE_HOME, oraInventory and consistent copy of the data files, controlfiles and redo log files.

I restored $ORACLE_HOME and consistent copy of the data files, controlfiles and redo log files.

Once again, should I restore (old oraInventory saved) directory?

    Thanks in advance...

There are two parts to your upgrade-

    1. install the 10.2.0.4 patch on top of the binary 10.2.0.1 - you must save $ORACLE_HOME and oraInventory directories before applying the patch - if the binary upgrade fails for any reason, you can restore the ORACLE_HOME and oraInventory to backups and re-apply the binary 10.2.0.4.

2 If the above step is successful, then you must update the database using DBUA. Yet once, before you begin the upgrade, you back up the database. If there are problems during this part, you simply restore the database from backup and re-run the upgrade.

You can certainly use two separate houses if you wish. In this case, the first step would be to clone the 10.2.0.1 existing HOUSES a new 10.2.0.1 see HOME - cloning an Oracle Home

Once completed the clone, and then use the two steps above on the newly created HOUSE

  • How to import bookmarks to an old win / win wqhere FF installation failed. New victory and FF install the new drive. Old files

Old installation of Windows and where winning FF stopped working. Have reinstalled on the new drive win and FF and import bookmarks from the old install on the old disk. The files are always accessible. None of the listed options explain another FF FF import that create a new profile that will not work in this case.

Just as a reference, when you explore your old hard drive, will seek you:

    E:\Users\yourusername\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles

    (the drive letter may vary)

If Windows hides the AppData folder on the old disk, you can disable hide files and folders: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/show-hidden-files

Then you can get off and find the folder bookmarkbackups containing .jsonlz4 files.

Can someone check and to confirm disabling backups iCloud keeps intact old backups so I have access to them in the future.

Deactivation of the iCloud backups will prevent only future backups to take place. To delete older backups, you must remove them manually.
