backup question
I will use icloud first time and I want to create a backup of my docs, contacts not included photos up to what should I do for that?
BECZ my gallary size are larger that 5 Gb. If I want to create backup only my docs as well as the contacts only
Help me!
iCloud backups only contain data of the app. And that unsaved data elsewhere. So if you have pictures of active iCloud backup will only contain photos. The same for the contacts, calendars, email, etc. They also do not contain music, podcasts or applications. So most of the icloud backups will be quite small. But even if they are not, you can increase storage iCloud to 50 GB for only 99 ¢ per month. It's a good investment.

BACKUP QUESTION: why is it that when I backup the Lightroom Catalog (Edit |) Settings of catalog...) only the *.lrcat file included in the ZIP file... While the *., lrdata file, the preview files, ARE NOT INCLUDED? When I restore the *.lrcat file from a backup, WHERE ARE THE PREVIEW FILES that should be included in the ZIP to the top. If *.lrdata (Preview file) are so important, why are not included in the zip? [email protected]

Questions 1)
Not because the LRDATA file is fair previews, what LR displays on your screen for a faster loading of the image and will be recreated. The previews only stored in the folder LRDATA is the basic overview created at time of importation for the display of thumbnails and previews of 1:1 for images that you have actually looked in the Loupe View or I guess that appears in the develop module.
He get all the data to create the image themselves file extracts.
If you have several files on your system that have pictures in them and you select one of them that you have not looked at in a while, you will notice LR creation of previews for these images, there will be 3 white dots in the upper right corner of the thumbnail. It's LR creation of previews for the thumbnail view. If you scroll quickly in the grid view, you'll notice a few thumbnails of images are gray, until you stop scrolling, then the upper left tile will come in clear view and the white dots will appear on the other images. It's LR creating previews for those of other images. Once LR created the preview of thumbnails that are on your screen, white spot will disappear. If you scroll down again, you will see more white dots
If you switch to another folder that LR begins again create preview images in this folder. The total number of previews created and stored based on caching of the preview you have in the catalog settings dialog in the management of the files tab.
If not, you need not the LR Previews.lrdata folder. Whenever LR is not very good this folder with a catalog he recreates it to store previews in.

Text backup question / deleted
I accidentally deleted one of my iPhone SMS 6 Plus. They always show on my iMac and iPad but I fear when an AutoSave occurs, it will back up the iPhone and remove them to two other devices. What will happen? I use iCloud if that makes a difference.
Hi melissahh625,
I understand that you have questions about your messages deleted on different devices. I know that it is important to have a handle on your data, so I'm happy to help you.
When you receive messages, they are stored on different devices. This means that when you delete a device they will not be deleted on the other. This is the case, even if one of your backup devices to iCloud that these backups are specific to devices, as well.
Thank you for using communities Support from Apple. See you soon!

I just bought a Mac Mini with TWO separate drives (ssd and hard drive) and I also bought a WD 1 TB of external drive to my Time Machine backups - so my question is:-How can I make sure that the disk WD and Time Machine will back up the TWO disks? and how do I configure this? Thanks in advance.
Open the Time Machine system preferences pane, click Options, and check the exclusion list.

I just bought a laptop HP dv6 with Windows 7 64 bit. He came with system partitions and hard disk recovery. Once I set it up the way I want I want to use the Windows Backup and Restore utilities to create the System Image and DVD repair system. My questions are: 1) since there are already partitions on the hard drive, is there something I should be concerned or even before that I have to create DVDs? (2) after the creation of Windows DVD won't recognize the partitions on the hard drive? Thank you.

I recommend that you create a system image on an external hard drive instead of DVD. The disk and its partitions uses a lot of DVD if it's the medium of your choice. DVD is not as reliable as external drives. There are free programs like Macrium reflect Free edition which allows you to create a clone of your hard drive with all partitions.
Make a clone will have no effect on your current plan of the original score. Windows will always recognize the partitions. If you want to keep the function F11 Recovery Manager does not change the partition scheme. You can also access the Recovery Manager through the recovery media that you have created.

VMWare Consolidated Backup question
I always get the following error message when you try to run postbackup.bat after a successful prescan.bat:
Error "VcbMounter" 7268 - could not read information take it apart.
For this reason, I have always supported my virtual machine using only prescan.bat images.
2 questions:
1. is it OK for prescan.bat nothing else work later (I did about 3 backups of image of vcb of my vm in the last 6 months)
2. What can cause the error when you try to run postbackup.bat for stored virtual machines?
Thank you!!!
If you run a backup of FullVM, the post is not required. Disassemble the VCBmounter process and will automatically delete the snapshot. The post script is necessary for a file backup to take it apart and remove the snapshot. Take a look at my VCB 'Guide proven practices' on VI:OPS-> http://viops.vmware.com/home/docs/DOC-1392 he explains the process for you.

Encrypt a local backup question
I connected my iPad to a new laptop computer to save for the first time. I previously backed up to a PC and icloud. On the new laptop on the local backup key Encrypt and I am asked for a password. As far as I know that I didn't put a password like on my PC I do not encrypt. Any ideas as to what I can do, please?
According to Apple:
There is no way to recover your information or disable backup encrypted if you lose or forget the password.

Windows Server backup question!
I need help. I'm a guy from Server 2008R2 novice who tries to save not only the server (which I did successfully with Windows Server backup), but a shared external hard drive connected to one of my office workstation computers (it has information vital to back up as well). The documentation for Windows Server Backup to a google search says "You can use Windows Server backup to create and manage backups for the local computer or a remote computer". How to create a backup to (not) a remote computer?
Post in the Windows Server Forums:
http://social.technet.Microsoft.com/forums/en-us/category/WindowsServer/ -
Our DBA functions are currently outsourced, and I'm just curious about something.
We asked them to copy a schema from our database of Production (during the day) to its equivalents in the acceptance and Test environments. We found a problem in that the maximum value of a primary key on a table was 100121, and the sequence used to generate the value of the primary key is only 100081.
Is a risk to a backup in hot and any annex a backup must be taken after hours? Or maybe did something wrong?
Oracle Database 10g Enterprise Edition Release 10.2.0.4.0 - 64biIf the request was to copy only a single schema, then it is unlikely that a "hot" backup would have been used. Most likely exp/imp or expdp/impdp would have been used to export the Production schema and import it into the other two databases.
The sequences are always 'a problem' when export - import is used when the database is active. Export of the sequence and the export of the table (or tables) using the sequence are not at the same time / SNA so that the values can differ as they have updated in the source database.
The plan is to restore order in the target database by manually incrementing until it reaches the desired target (100122).Hemant K Collette

Hello
I recently installed VMware player and installed XP Professional on it. I am running Vista Home Premium.
I am pretty religious about backup. If my computer had to die, it would be good to know I can import/restore a file off my backup to allow me to continue using my virtual copy of XP.
So someone please can advise what files I need backup and those that I need to restore to another machine.
Thanks in advance.
Adrian
In fact, it's the vmx file, but yes, it's as simple as that.

I have 5 back to the same location on the disk
What command should I use to restore 1 save
Thank youHello
I would use a script like this:
run { set until time to_date('2012-04-12 00:00', 'YYYY-MM HH24MI'); restore database; recover database; alter database open resetlogs; }
where the date in the "set up time" - clause is shortly after the end of the first backup. This must be done with the database in mounted mode, and if you did any structural changes (added/deleted from the tablespaces/data files), you must restore an older control file before doing the restore.

New to ESXi: Simple backup question
Hello
I'm new to ESXi but have used VMWare Server and WorkStation.
My current practice is to create virtual machines with drive / size of the file in increments of 2 GB.
In this way, I end up with small files, even for a virtual hard disk of 80 GB. I can then move the files to another VMWare host and re-create all VM.
Now on ESXi, I see that all of the 80 GB is attributed...
If I take a snapshot (which I think translates into a smaller file) and backup, it would be sufficient to re - create the VM then
go back to the snapshot? I'd be able to do this on a different host ESXi?
Any suggestions?
Thank you
Export of OVF format are surprisingly low in most cases, depends on how full are your disks of virtual machines, blocks null are excluded and the data are compressed export.

Hi all - I am trying to reach a log backup strategy archive. So far, I did the following to mux the archiver process in two different places to allow potential disaster scenarios:
1. set log_archive_dest_1 as the location of the FRA:
ALTER SYSTEM SET LOG_ARCHIVE_DEST_1 = 'LOCATION = USE_DB_RECOVERY_FILE_DEST';
2. change the log_archive_dest_2 to be an external location:
ALTER SYSTEM SET LOG_ARCHIVE_DEST_1 = ' LOCATION = ' G:\Backup\ArchiveLogs;
3. ensure to that the LOG_ARCHIVE_DEST_STATE_n for the two sites above is set to enable. It is the default property, and must already be defined.
4. to take effect, a log switch must take place. This can be implemented by using the RMAN backup command:
BACKUP DATABASE MORE ARCHIVELOG;
Now that I have the archiver written in two different places, I want to back up the files also in two different places for the same reasons. I assume that I can do it in EM and schedule being new to Oracle but custom task I'm not sure how to go on this subject, and the wizard does not allow me to backup to a location.
Can help or advise if what I'm doing is perhaps not common practice?
Thank you very muchKwisatz78 wrote:
Sorru Orawiss I'm still a bit thick here but how I'm doing backup in two places. For example if I use your script.RUN {}
ALLOCATE CHANNEL d1 DEVICE TYPE DISK FORMAT ' / u01/backups/%U';
ALLOCATE CHANNEL d2 DEVICE TYPE DISK FORMAT ' / u02/backups/%U';
BACKUP DATABASE MORE ARCHIVELOG;
OUTPUT CHANNEL;
}I change the /u01/backups/%you to some thing like + DBFLASH_SOA and keep the auto manage the appearance of the FRA?
Thank you
See below; Only Autobackup spfile + controlfile is considered to be accompanied in the FRA. Because I choose CONFIGURE CONTROLFILE AUTOBACKUP.
If you choose to specify the locations of your RMAN scripts, the FRA's automatic space management will not be enabled for these backups.
So in my example, the format of the backup command clause sends the backup the physical location "/ home/oracle/backups/fra" (not the FRA) and ' / home/oracle/backup. There is no way to specify the FRA as the destination in a format clause, so if you format in your backup, by definition statement, you do not send something of the FRA.
