  • Backups on the physics of the standby database?

I use dataguard and standby a physical database. How to assign backups on the physics of the standby database to reduce the load on the primary database.

    environment: windows

    Database version: 11.2.0.1.0

What are the pro and cons on the allocation of jobs of RMAN backups for the physics of the standby database?

    Hello;

The backup database is an identical copy of the primary database block.

Therefore, you just save one of the two (you can choose to only save the day before, however, if you want to remove the load on the primary). But if you are uncomfortable with the primary backup, it is not necessary for the safeguarding of the day before. (Since you can recreate the primary backup before).

The only important part, is that you use the RMAN catalog. Then only known RMAN, the two are identical and can use the same backup.

Is this cold backup and sufficient archives, for the exact replica of primary education

You can recover up to cancel if something happened.

Do I have to take the backup of the primary database as cold before the primary.

always always take backup before any operation.

According to the guidelines of this post, I shouldn't use

    So, what should I do
    a.
    Should I use
ALTER DATABASE OPEN ; -- I think I got some error with this command when i issued it after RMAN-06054 error . Can't recall what error

    b.

  • Restore backups of data to different vcenter server recovery

    Hello

We have separated closed vCenter in our society in different places, I'm just starting to use Vmware Data Recovery instead of VCB for backups. Is it possible to restore the backup of Vmware Data Recovery of Virtual Machines to a different vCenter Server?

If you can, you could point me to documentation that shows how?

    Thank you

    Glenn

You can create another device VDR with the same data from disk (or NAS share).

Then connect to this device (you can also use the VDR plugin when you are connected to a host, not only when you are connected to vCenter) and wait until it import the backup catalog.

Make sure you stop all services of application/database before you take the backup, and you need to back up all files in the application/database layer nodes.

  • Standy of database backup and restore help to duplicate a database

OK, here's my situation. I save my 11.1.0.6 database from the backup server (primary backup not suitable, who ruled out a double asset) using a recovery catalog. My goal is to restore this database under another name called (TEST) on another server using the duplicate database command. My questions are:

    (1) I know that I can save my sleep using RMAN database, but what should I back up the control file and the spfile of the primary database as well?

    (2) I use a recovery catalog (who I am already registered in the primary database only with), I have to save the elements of backup of the backup above with the recovery catalog (or are they already registered since I have connected to the catalog when you take the backup of the standby database?)

    (3) if I need backup upward the primary controlfile, can I manually copy the file to the new server or should I create by issuing a 'backup controlfile to trace' command on the primary database server and re-create it.

I guess my points of friction would be how to publish the duplicate database command, once I have all the parts. If I'm missing something please let me know. This is a database of 1.5 TB and I only have one (1) time to get this right. Lucky me... Thank you all

    * ==> spfile must be static most of the time, so that you can make a copy whenever you make changes and save it to your backup location. In regards to your controlfiles, you can back up the database your intelligence and your backups.* database

    * ==>, You must also back up your controlfiles of RMAN. Read the Oracle Documentation above
