BDC Equallogic PS50

I have an older Equallogic PS50 unit that I would like to upgrade.  I bought a drive of type 2 for her and I'm having some trouble getting it online.

I have the camera turned off and installed the controller as well as to connect three network cards to the SAN switch.  When I powered the unit up, the new controller, that I just installed became the active one.  I get only the link for this new controller and not the older lights.

Currently I ' get a warning, "the control module cache is synchronization. Do not power down the members during this operation. »

I'm not sure how long this will take, but it could be why my other controller has not yet come online?  Is it not strange that the new controller is now the main?

    Hello

We had two 2003 servers as our PDC and BDC.  The PDC has been removed and our AD has been improved for 2012.  The final 2003 server acting as the original BOC also has shared on that user.  I would like to give use to act as a domain controller and to maintain the existing shares of the files for our user base.   If I have DC Promo to a DC to a server Stand Alone will this affect existing direct user action.

  • My group IP Equallogic rattling of unknown Internet hosts

    Hello

I have an Equallogic group composed of former members of PS6000 and also running firmware 5.02 (I know it's old).  Our network security team saw that the IP of the Equallogic group sends constant pings to certain IP addresses.  Some of these IP addresses are no. DHCP Server related (169.254.1.151 169.254.1.19, etc.), but also we are seeing pings being sent to internet two IPS, 20.20.20.2 and 20.20.20.3.  These pings are apparently constant, and we can not find in the logs in the management console, why they produce.

    Any thoughts or ideas?

    Hello

I suspect that you have a Server Windows, with HIT / me installed.  But the MPIO configuration wizard has not been run to exclude all non-iSCSI subnets.  If the hosts are trying to log on by using all available subnets.  To ensure than a back road, the table first ping this IP address.  In case of failure it will not attempt a connection.

Then once you run the Remote Setup Wizard, you will see the option of MPIO.  Make sure only the iSCSI subnet is included and this should solve your problem.

Re: Firrmware.  Very old firmware.  If you run VMware ESXi, you are also at risk of corruption of VMFS metadata.  The minimum EQL firmware to address this problem is 6.0.7.  There are also a lot of improvements to the management of disk errors, etc...   5.0.2 is released Oct. 2010.

  • EqualLogic PS4100 with a red light.

    Hello

We have a very old EqualLogic PS4100 with a red light a remote site (connected to a production server and works very well)

Admin has already left, and we do not have its IP management or identifying information.

I have someone on site who can provide remote hands.

Can I connect a laptop and get or does dell provides support paid for it?

    Thanks in advance

    Hello

the management is optional and it may not be configured. So check your host what address he used for iSCSI to table connection and try a browser with http:// or a ssh client and see what happened. You need java installed to get the GroupManager that run in the browser.

If you do not get a response that is active and sound using a different subnet in regards to the Storage (iSCSI).

The user is called "grpadmin. If you do not have a password try "grpadmin.

If you hands away you can connect a serial cable to the module active controller with parameters 9600,8,1, n in your terminal program favorite (we often use PuTTY). You also need user and password.

    Hello

Dell certifies OpenStack w/Equallogic.   This is the underlying software as Cinder, who does the work with storage arrays.  The driver uses the orders of EQL group CLI, the syntax has not changed, except for the new features.

    Please help.

I was able to fix it myself. It seems to me, the Setup program needs all the shortcuts on the place of origin. If there is a lack or there was a change of name of a folder, the Setup program fails with the error message above.

There are two solutions. Copy all shortcuts and folders to another installation or run the repair installation. I did the first step copies all the shortcuts to another facility.

I was able to upgrade successfully on all installations.

  • EqualLogic PS series console RJ45 cable pinout

    Hello world

I have an Equallogic storage array to use for the test which I believe is a ps100e, with two controllers blue sata ports having back series RJ45. Nothing I've used so far has had any kind of traffic from them, then someone can help me with a pinout of the console cable that was included with the devices? (I got was the machine itself). I saw a few summaries puts online buy them, but I'm a bit of a hurry and don't have much of a budget, so I was hoping to do so they are considered non-standard.

    Thank you!

Here is the pinout settings and baud.   Make sure that this flowcontrol is disabled on the serial port.

We find this info on the site Web of Equallogic.

    The title of the solution

Cable to the serial Console, identifying Type I, II controllers, the RJ-45 connector pinout

    Details of the solution

    Type 1:

FRU PN IS 95-0444. Cable 'dongle' will have a white label with 51-0003-02 marked top. It is 10 inches long, black, with DB - 9 (M) money and a micro DB-9 at the other end.

You can order the dongle as a Molex 83421-9052 reference number to search on google. You will also need to a modem cable Null to go with it, if you don't have one, easy to find, even the most Radio Shack has them.

    Type 2:

FRU PN 95-0517. Cable will have a white label with 51-0008 marked top. It is 10 feet long, black with the RJ-45 at the other end and a DB-9 (F)

Here is the pinout of the connector RJ-45 series of EqualLogic Type-2 (SATA 2 command Module):

    1 - DTR (out)

    2 - CTS (en)

    3 - chassis Gnd

    4 - RxD (in)

    5 - TxD (out)

    6 Sig Gnd

    7 - RTS (out)

    8 - DSR (en)

In the current firmware versions we do not deliberately set, or answer, the control signals (DTR, CTS, DSR, RTS), then you must either configure the device you connect so that it ignores them, or provide telesignalisations the according to the needs.

The series settings are: 9600 baud, 8 bits, 1 stop bit, no parity, no flow control.

  • SupportAssist for EqualLogic

    Ladies and gentlemen,

My account has a SupportAssist from Dell, which manages about 100 servers, storage EQL 13, 9 PowerConnect switch.

The system has also installed the SANHQ.

So, the surveillance system has two software installed.

1 OME and DSA plugin for OME

2 SANHQ and DSA plugin for SANHQ.

In this case, what is advised on EQL Storage monitoring?

EQL also managed based on MEO and SANHQ.

    Hello:

Best practice would be to use SANHQ with the DSA plugin for your EqualLogic storage space. This will give more specific triggers and will be also more flexible as new triggers are added in the future.

In addition to the installation of the SupportAssist plug-in, be sure to activate the SupportAssist function in the SANHQ itself.

    Thank you.

  • Leak memory applicant VSS EqualLogic? (HIT Windows 4.7.1)

    Hello

I have two machines here (a single W2K8 R2, a W2K12R2) that show a gradual rise in the use of memory (size of validation) for the requisitioning Equallogic VSS (EqlReqService.exe) - 5.711.888K size of validation after availability of 47days.

    This is 4.7.1.7382 successfully.

I do not see this increase on the machines working again 4.6.0.6882 (16.292 K size Commit after 29days of availability).

Others see the same behavior? Known issue?

    Thank you

    Florian

I have this problem since 09/2014. I pointed out and I have a case open with the number 901094060.

They acknowledged the problem and said that they would implement a solution, perhaps in the next version.

The workaround for us is to stop the Task Scheduler service every day at midnight. By default, the startup of this service is set to manual and it would have started when necessary.

  • Connection of RDM on Equallogic PS6100 volumes to virtual machines.

    Hello.

I have a weird problem on Equallogic PS6100 storage. Here hoping that I can have some kind of answer or advice to continue troubleshooting and, hopefully, a solution to the problem.

    Goal

I need the RDM disks to be install on virtual servers through Equallogic PS6100. RDM disks will be used for Windows clusters.

    This is my environment infrastructure.

    1 unit of Equallogic PS6100.

3 modules of ESXi 5.5 servers. (2 NICs connected to the PS6100)

2 virtual machines running Windows Server 2012 R2 for windows clusters.

I created 6 volumes on the Equallogic PS6100 but not able to connect 5 volumes on two windows servers. I need all 6 volumes to be connected to two servers as the RDM disks. Somehow the 6th volume gives me a problem that both servers are able to detect the LUN, but I can not install them. In addition, the connections are on ISCSi.

Once I have installed the 6th volume on one of the server window the other server will be is no longer able to detect the LUN. This is why I can't install this volume on both servers.

I tried scanning the LUN volumes on 3 servers ESXi repeatedly and still I can not install this volume 6 for both servers. I even migrated windows servers to 3 ESXi servers and always with the same result.

All the advice here will be highly appreciated.

    Thank you.

Managed to solve the problem of a work colleague. Problem has been resolved by adding a new controller scsi for the virtual machine. After adding the controller either stop or restart the virtual machine. In doing so, I was able to discover the LUNS and install the disc RDM for servers.

  • Management for EqualLogic failover port

    I'm setting up a Dell EqualLogic PS6210XV.
I configured dedicated management interface. When I disconnect the management on the active controller port, it is not automatically switch to the management port on the controller to start (as a port 10 GB of data). Please guide me how to do this fail over automatically.

    Hello

There is no automatic failover with dedicated Mgmt ports.  You will need to either restore a connectivity or a failover on the other controller.

  • EqualLogic group member network configuration error: "management interface should not be on the san subnet.

    Hello

We currently have new EqualLogic 6100 device with this network configuration:

    Director of the IP - 192.168.0.2 (VLAN1).

    Member network config:
    eth0 - 192.168.0.3 (VLAN1)
    eth1 - 10.10.10.3 (VLAN2)
    eth2 - 10.10.10.4 (VLAN2)
    eth3 - 10.10.10.5 (VLAN2)
    ETH4 - empty

I would attribute 192.168.0.4 to eth4, but received the error: "management interface should not be on the san subnet.

I am sure that all interfaces eth has access to the VLAN1 and VLAN2, mean error indicates that eth4 should not access VLAN2 and only access the VLAN1 on the switch?

Or eth0 should also have access to the VLAN2 only to reconfigure eth0 and eth4?

    Thank you

    > The group eating IP should be in iscsi VLANS?

    Yes!

Note: If configure you an EQL it will ask an iSCSI port because nothing is more necessary to bring it up. The doest previous EQLs have a dedicated Mgmt Port and later, you can convert the last ethX as a MGMT port. This is the reason why configure you ISCSI at the beginning. (Think of a mixed group of newer and older models, and you get a picture)

OK... once again it is the one and only member of the Group and there is making the production host connected to the right?

The change of IP address, to a 3rd. subnet for temporary use.

-Do not touch eth0-3 and the IP address of the group now

-Configure the MGMT port and IP address management in the tempr group. Subnet. Use the Config-> Adv. Group-> network MGMT. You can change the MGMT Port of the Member, and the address IP of MGMT

-For the registration of the configuration, you will lose access. You must place your admin PC in the templ. subnet so

-Connect to the GroupMgr with temp again. INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY

-Now you can change the IP address of group 10.10.10..x

-Now you can change eth0 10.10.10.2

-At the end, you can change the address IP of the Group MANAGEMENT, as well as the MGMT Port to 192.168.0.x

-Change the IP address of your admin PC rear

A failover, you should consider to hang a serial cable the active controller of the EQL. Use 9600,8,1, N with your favorite terminal program (putty.exe on windows). All the steps, you can perform from the command line.

If this group and the only member not in production, but you can reset the config and restart from the beginning.

    Kind regards

  • EqualLogic compatibility

Maybe this isn't the best place for this but I wasn't sure whether storage or equallogic would be able to answer this question. In the last list compatibility equallogic for ps4100xv and powerconnect 6224 matrix says to use firmware 3.3.7.2 for switches, but I can't.

This version (3.3.7.2) is no longer available and has been replaced by 3.3.7.3 3.3.8.2 and the newer version v3.3.9.1. The most recent version v3.3.9.1 is recommended for this switch.

    http://www.Dell.com/support/drivers/us/en/rc1009777/DriverDetails/product/PowerConnect-6224?driverId=MMXWW&osCode=NAA&FILEID=3336417050&LanguageCode=en&CategoryID=NI

Note: further down the page is a drop-down list to see the previous versions.

Since the version listed in the matrix of computability is no longer available, you can use any version newer than the specified version and it should continue to work as having been tested and will be supported.
