[Beginner] Printing - colors are strangely discreet

I tried, but was not able to find an answer.

I'm new to lightroom (like) and printing to a printer color regular (not a photo printer).

If I print my .jpg for IE, it reflects quite accurately colors.    If I feel of LR (I prefer - it scales better to fit on a single page photo) the colors are very discreet and do not at all resemble what is on the screen.  Printer even every time.

I use the default settings, nothing complicated.

Advice for a beginner would be highly appreciated.

Thank you

Jessica

In the print module, printing task panel, under profile choose sRGB (at the moment it should be set to "Managed by the printer"). If you do not see sRGB in the list, choose other and find the sRGB profile there.

  • HP C5180: Printer color problems

I have a HP C5180 printer and printing color is messed up. My black watch diagnosis page than black, yellow-green with yellow strips, Lt Cyan shows as a dark cyan, cyan is white, Lt Magenta is dark blue, Magenta is Lt. blue. Anyone know how to fix this... I changed the printer cartirdges... the same problem. I cleaned the print heads. several times and followed the suggestions on the tech support pages. I would not only use this printer as a black and white printer.

    Hey @TomTwist,

Welcome to the Forums of HP Support!

I would like to help you today to solve print quality problems you are having with your HP Photosmart C5180 all-in-One Printer. Because you have already replaced the ink cartridges and clean the printhead several times nothing is done, there is a good chance to have a defective print head. The print head is what reads the cartridge and puts ink on the page. On your print head template system is a non-replaceable part. Therefore, should that do not pass part a replacement of the entire unit would be necessary. However, I would like to go through the following steps to conveniently solve this problem of quality.

I won't make you run any printhead more clean. The rule is usually 2 or 3 clean makes no difference at all, don't make a fourth because when you clean the printhead system it uses ink in order to rinse the ink system. If 2 or 3 clean make no difference that you're just wasting if you run a clean more.

    Step 1: Calibrate the colors:

    1. open the printer Toolbox: HP Solution Center. This should be on the desktop of your computer.

    2. If you have more than one printer installed, be sure to select the correct printer tab in the HP Solution Center

    3. click on settings

    4. click on print settings.

    5. click on printer Toolbox.

    6. on the device Services tab, click color to calibrate, and then follow the instructions on the screen. The procedure takes about two minutes and requires two sheets of paper.

Source: The printed colors are not colors should

If the problem persists, please continue to the next step.

Step 2: Align the print head:

    1. click on HP Solution Center's on your desktop

    2. click on settings.

    3. click on print settings

    4. click on printer Toolbox.

    5. on the tab Services of device the printer, Toolbox, click align the print cartridges, and then follow the instructions on the screen.

Source: Streaks or lines in the printed Image

Please test print once these two steps have been taken. If the issue of quality still persists, because you have already replaced your cartridges the next step would be a replacement of the entire unit.

  • HP photosmart Premium All in o: how to print in black ink only, when all the colors are empty except new black tank.

In the past, I was able to print with cartridge black new xl size, although all colors are empty city black photo.

I have upgraded to OS to win 10 and my printer does not print with black ink only.  I ran a test and black ink appears here.  I print a few things ok in black only before having to make a reset in progress and had to reinstall a ton of programs and software.  No matter what I do with the properties, it will not be printed on the page and try to use colorful tanks that are empty.  It was never a problem before using win 7.  Please help ASAP!

There are a few things to check:

    • Make sure the paper type is set to plain paper.  If Auto is selected and is confused with the Photo paper paper or photo paper is selected only the color and photo cartridges will be used.  (The pigmented black ink cartridge is not compatible with photo paper).
    • Define advanced settings for printing in grayscale, black ink only.  Otherwise, the printer may by default using inks from color for chart areas, since this offers a better print quality due to the smaller droplets of ink color.

    Hello

I just bought a HP Deskjet Ink Advantage 6525 printer to print photos. I open an image in photoshop, then I press on print. I have the following settings:

    Screen Shot 2014-05-29 at 10.57.23.png

    Screen Shot 2014-05-29 at 10.57.33.png

The result is very poor. The colors are dark, like a photo of instagram. My screen is a SAMSUNG S24C750P. Photoshop CS6 (osx) version.

I would like to know what is the correct configuration for printing photos.

I really appreciate your help, it's very confusing.

You are not supposed to use sRGB as print profile. What you want is the profile for the paper tray that you print on a paper/ink (HP something shiny/Matt and so on). These profiles are provided by the manufacturer of the printer and normally installed along the printer driver.

But I don't think HP in the interest of "simpler" for the customer. Check what profiles are available (but I think that it will all paper profiles here). So in this case, you can not let Photoshop manage color, you must choose the other option and let the printer manage.

I have never been able to understand the HP. They are really very good material, but their philosophy seems to be that their customers are completely illiterate and they need hand-holding every step.

  • DeskJet 5500 prints color cartridge 57 but your gray of the 58 photo color cartridge

My deskjet 5550 is supposed to print color photo with the 58 cartridge inserted into the cartridge slot 2. It has suddenly stopped making and now print only the dull grey tone. I replaced the cartridge with a new one and got the same result. Print the same file using the 57 cartridge to slot 1 still gives the color. Replacing the driver produces no change. I'm on a Mac and I'm printing from iPhoto. Having checked that no filter is in use. Any ideas, what could be wrong and how to fix it?  Thank you.

The cartrdiges 57 and 58 are necessary all to print the photo. The 57 a Cyan, Magenta and yellow. The 58A Photo Black, Light Magenta and Light Cyan. The printer can print photos with the 57 by itself, but the 58 by itself will not be able to print grayscale because there no yellow. In photo printing normal both cartridges are used together, the 57 provides vivid colors and the 58 provides subtle shades and black areas. When you print on plain paper 56 cartridge replaces the 58. The 56 was ink black pigment which is good for text but not used on photographic support. Regards, Bob Headrick, MS MVP printing and imaging

    AHA!

I activated 'verification' in Paintshop Pro and there is actually a difference in rendering.  Now Ihave all do is figure on what settings/color profile to use in order to make the system and the printer is (currently I use my graphics card for this - settings which is great for display but not for the printer).

  • Re: Satellite P300 - display colors are not displayed correctly

A few months ago appeared a strange problem with my laptop screen as you can see in this video made by me: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tjpsXNB6prc

I tried to tilt the cover but without results. Sometimes it comes back normal picture all of a sudden. If I close the lid when I stopped the laptop, when the next market problem appears.

With the help of Corel, I noticed that the RGB colors are not displayed correctly. I connected the laptop to a VGA monitor and the image was normal.

I would like to know what the problem is so that I am able to fix it myself.

    Thank you.

    Hey Buddy,

It of great that you've made a video of your problem, most other users don t do that, but it makes history. :)

In any case, it is really hard to say what part is causing this problem. Either it's internal display itself or graphics card. Easiest way to check this is connect an external monitor and check what is happening.

So if it was a normal external VGA monitor image it seems to be the graphics card. This means that the motherboard must be replaced and this can be done from an authorized service provider. Then get in touch with the guy and ask for help.

  • My 6100 printer has never been able to print colors

1 day he told me that the Blue cartridge (cyan) is empty, even when I replaced the cartridge with a new one, and he always says that the other colors are 'weak '. I've been printing the words black and white on a page, in fast draft mode, but the only time wherever I tried to print colors, she doesn't--a yellow cuff came out white, no colour at all.  He said always cyan is empty.  Now it will not print black and white at all. Am I supposed to spend $50 + new cartridges whenever I need to print something?

Also, is there a Ribbon of cellophane that I need to take it off inside the printer?  I see a coating cellophance on transport of the cartridge in the printer, but there is nothing in the manual that says to remove it.

Unable to print color seems a flaw for me.  Can I make a return?  I bought it two weeks ago.

    Catherine

    Hi CMBoston,

I understand that you were not able to print anything in color, and you see a piece of Ribbon of cellophane inside. I want to help you with this.

Please use the following document to solve the quality problem, you meet; Troubleshooting print quality problems.

The strip inside the printer should be removed if the installation guide you requested otherwise, it is part of the internal mechanics.

I'm not sure of the return policy where you bought the printer so I can not answer or not you can return the printer, but I can say that HP printers have a 1 year manufacturing warranty. If you're still having problems after following the steps outlined in the document, call HP. The number of call HP is 1-800-474-6836 for the Canada and the United States, or you can Contact HP worldwide.

I hope that this information solves your request.

  • OfficeJet Pro 8600: just installed new HP cartridges and ink colors are disabled!

It's very expensive 4 950 XL and 951 cartridges XL that I bought at Staples a couple of months. I noticed right after installation that bright red in my images were now feel like dull brown. I printed a few pages from the control panel of the printer test. Cyan and yellow seemed pretty accurate, but magenta was a deep purple, not the lightest color pink or pink, I expected. I think that something was wrong with the series production of this cartridge. I hope I can find my receipt, but if not, always wait that HP would replace a full cartridge that was flawed in manufacturing. My HP printer has an accuracy of colors great until about a week ago, but is now almost useless for the work at home that I want to do - for example custom greeting cards, cards, posters, etc.. I printed the test pages don't show any problems with the alignment of the head, and the stripes of color show no scratches. Just a magenta that is close to her correct hue, based on my long experience with color ink jet printers.

An HP service technician spent 1/2 hour on the phone with me yesterday, and we could not solve the problem. I had already worked through the steps that you referred me to. I have never known or heard of a problem like this, and had not the technology. When I printed the Diagnostic Page of print quality, I have absolutely perfect alignment and bars very clean black, gray and colors. Yellow and cyan looked quite right. Magenta was a deep, dark - purple not magenta I am familiar with years of work with inkjet printers. But it's printed cleanly, I started to believe that the new magenta cartridge, which had just been installed as well as 3 other XL cartridges, had somehow got filled with dark purple ink. However during our tests, asked me to remove the magenta cartridge and pick up some color from around the beak with a Q Tip. When I rubbed on the print paper, it was true magenta!

Other theories were: (1) that somehow the circuit board of the printer and print head did not and triggers the two nozzles magenta and cyan times reported magenta printing. That seems the most likely answer. 3 the theory was that the ink in the print head channels had a leak between inks cyan and magenta. It seems less likely, because there is no impurity in the print cyan, as well as the color printing was absolutely consistent over several test pages. The tech asked me to remove the print head Assembly and clean the area around the nozzles. That did not help.

In the end, I was offered a model of printer a HP refurbished more recent than mine. The price was very reasonable - much less than the cost of a printed circuit board or a feeling of head. He also used the same cartridges, so my XL series would be used later once provided with the new printer cartridges are consumed. I took that offer and hope to have a new printer from Tuesday. So I'm glad HP service.
