BES and KeyInject

Hi all.

Can you explain (or link) what is all this fuss around BES and KeyInject.

I develop an application and have tried to avoid KeyInjection because I heard that BES has some problems with it.

But, alas, I'm afraid that I can't avoid it in one place

So, what is the limit of its use?

What is a problem for me (as an application developer) or a problem for the BES administrator?

What is a persistent problem, which no one has yet solved?

I didn't speak to our BES admins problems but I wouldn't resort to bullying of my clients in changing manual settings.

So what is the story?

The short answer is that, as a general rule, administrators BES prevents certain risky practices like injection key and browser filtering.

If the administrator of BES sets key-injection of 'decline' default application permissions, your username will be unable to bypass this setting.

  • SSO with BES and 3 rd-party applications

    Hi all

My company has an application that connects to a server to have access to certain information.

The BB app works well, but now we are trying to make a harmonious integration with the BES system:

users who are connected with their BES need not open a session as the BES would be middleware to authenticate the user to the system of part 3, retrieve a token from this system and return to the BB app. After that, the BB app would be connected to the 3rd party app, and the user can use it.

Now it is a general scheme, but I don't know how it could be done. I'm sure that BES could be used to treat the login step, with maybe develop some connector, but I can't find any docs on this topic.

Could you please help with pointing to the right docs and helps them build good architecture?

    Thanks in advance.

The BES only handles accounts when the user tries to access the management interface of BES, and most of the users would use Active Directory access credentials to this. When you browse the web, it is not authentication credentials between the device and the BES. Then, it is not supported nor feasible to enter these credentials by using a third-party connector when calling a web service is made through the BES.

It seems to be a bit too complicated. A more simple solution I could come up with might be something in the sense of: Configure the BES to include email address and PINs of the devices through the HTTP headers. Your client application can make a request to your server, your server can authenticate from these pieces of information. You could also include a password for your application, if necessary, stored in the BES IT policy. If each user would essentially use the same password, but a different username based on their e-mail address. The password might also not coded hard or even non-existent according to your security needs. A few ideas to keep in mind.

  • Update / upgrade of Java through BES and Desktop Manager applications

    Hello

I have developed an application and I distributed by BES (wireless) and Desktop Manager. When I made a few changes, what Im doing is enforcement of the removal and reinstallation. There is no way to update/update without deleting the app in both cases (BES and DM)?

    Thanks in advance.

Thanks for your reply. My mistake was to change the alx on Notepad, and if you want it to work, you must make the change from version to Eclipse, project properties.

akash1212, now its upgrade. I'll tell you if it works or not.

  • BlackBerry Smartphones BES and BIS emails for display separation

Just bought a Bold 9000 (my first BB) and very disappointed that separation of BES and BIS emails is not a standard feature. BES can be displayed via the files of common messages that shows everything, including BIS emails/SMS/IM etc. BIS messages can be seen in their respective folder (i.e. yahoo/gmail)

There is a product like know empower (http://www.getempower.com/)is a PURCHASABLE third party product that is supposed to separate the mails, but it is certainly a good way to provide this functionality as part of your product that I won't have to sift through all of my emails and understand those who are BES/BIS.

Empower the BTW does not work on later versions of the o/s of BB and this means that the "BOLD" is assigned. Come on guys, the sort...! Either buy empower and integrate into your device where it can be updated with your resource ample or build something that focuses a bit more to the needs of the customer.

BES 4.1.5 gives you an option to separate BIS and BES mail. Also the sms/mms can be separated as well.

  • BlackBerry features 10 BES and BIS

    Hello

I am interested in getting the Z10 or later the phone of Q10. My problem is that I received information that the Z10 does not support BIS and then probably also not BES. My first and main reason for using blackberry for many years already is for the BES option.

    Concerning

Hello and welcome to the community!

BIS = no. BIS is indeed eliminated for BB10 and on some carriers, even reported to block functions if she is active on the user account (for example, they passed a pre-BB10 device, but did not have their carrier to remove the BIS account subscription).

BES = Yes, but these features to BES10.

    Good luck!

  • Availability of BES and BIS

    Hi guys,.

The question is really simple to someone who knows the answer:

Is it possible that BIS is not available but BES is?

We have problems with https, I suggested that we must always use BIS rather BES for https. But I am aware that if he disconnects the user companies.

I will also play with the resumeable calls - to send or receive data in small portions over https. I think that this will solve the problems with https connections.

    Thank you

    Eugen

    Short answer Yes.

It is possible that Blackberry devices are actually allowed to use BES/MDS only for their activity on the internet - which means that all Internet activity is carried out via the network of companies and thus the corporate firewall.

  • Question, security and confidentiality of Smartphones blackBerry using BES and BIS

I have a BB of work that is supported by a Blackberry Enterprise Server. I also have a yahoo staff & accounts gmail that I set up on my BB device. My concerns are:

    1. Are my emails yahoo & gmail routed through the server of the company or it comes directly from my phone provider
    2. If it is routed through my BES, is that questions of confidentiality for my private email?
    3. Is there a way to protect personal information when the data is routed through the company system BES

Frankly, I don't want my people to work never see my personal yahoo or gmail emails. This is why I am asking these questions.

    Thanks a ton!

    Hello.

    1. No, they are not being routed through the BES.  They will make your device through the pine and the NSE that you entered when you set up your BIS account directly.

    3 see #1

If you are concerned about your personal data, perhaps you should consider getting your own device.  What I did (and I'm the BES Admin).

    Hello

I use BB Bold9000 and my e-mail server is POP/SMTP.

No.... BES is designed to integrate with specific enterprise-level e-mail environments. See this KB.

  • Confused about BB10 and BES PUsh

    Hello world

Today, our application side server is an HTTP Post to a preconfigured URL of BES and is capable of pushing an icon for a BB5, device 6 or 7 without any problems. The application server-side is not Java based and simply use an HTTP Post to make the push. Everything is fine and our clients are happy :-)

Now eagerly BB10, it seems that things have become much more complex.  Here's my understanding:

1 BES and MDS will not apply to BB10 devices since these devices will use the new service COMICS. This service will have an interface of type MDS, so we can do a big boost to the unit in question?

1a. If not, how can we push the BB10 device?

    1. b do we not have to write some kind of server Java or can we continue to use simple HTTP Post, as we do today with BB5, 6 and 7?

Remember, I'm only interseted in the BES (business devices) and not BIS sceanrio.

  • BlackBerry Q10 Confusion with Q10 and BES vs data plan

    Hello

I've received three different types of information to Service the customer O2, O2 shop and my client who spoke thus to the O2.

Basically, my client is on a tariff of BES. She wants to update her phone and I have suggested Q10, but we are facing problems with the compatibility of the plans.

Apparently, if she gets Q10, she can't keep the BES rate as the phone is not compatible. What I don't understand is:

[a] if I buy a phone and put a SIM card, I get data (internet for email, bbm, internet) regardless of the model, without having to activate the Enterprise BES Activation. So technically I could buy Q10, keep the same rate, just don't enable the Activation of Enterprise BES and just use Active Sync?

[b] if I get a phone and enable users to email using the enterprise BES Activation, what data? Is BES process all incoming email differently, that is to say what is received in an email not included in the data plan or data is treated in the same way without activation?

[c] I thought that BES is simply to download contacts/calendars/emails, and set the phone based on the needs of the company but in a sense, that of what makes Active Sync, right?

I would be eternaly Grateful if someone could explain this in simple English because I feel like my head's going to explode. :/

    Thank you!

    (a) Yes.

    (b) BlackBerry10 devices must be on a server BES10 or later.

    (c) download no.. Synchronize calendars/contacts/emails - Yes, and much much much more, which allows some Admins BES/BES10 set controls, to push policies to the unit, place tighten security on the device.

  • Help blackBerry Smartphones: using blackberry BES account 1 and 1 imap account

I have setup my blackberry to send a receipt to the time one has BES and a separate account using IMAP.

I have a box for this account as separate.

  • E-mail blackBerry Smartphones Outlook and BB not wireless sync. The BES.

    Hello

I recently changed from seven years of Windows Mobile to BB. I am on a BES and the changes I make on the prospects to your desktop or Blackberry (Bold) are not synchronization in both directions. It's frustrating. My COMPUTER helpdesk advised me to "clean up" the BB a couple of times and we did it. Also my manager office of BB is not configured for synchronization as by their advisor who they explain everything is wireless.

It of frustrating and makes me think how it was easy with Windows mobile. Help, please.

    Thank you.

Your BES admins should work on the issue of synchronization.

For the issue of the separate boxes of Messages, see this...

By default, BES email is made only in posts emails BIS icon/App are placed in their own icons, but they are still contained in the main Messages application. This is how it works by default. It is not redundant - rather, think that Messages like the Tote place, with the BIS independent icons being a filter, traction (from message) to them only messages that relate to them... but if you act on an e-mail (read, delete, etc.) in one, the change will be reflected in the other.

Your BES Admin can push an E-mail BES icon only to your device. This solution is free, but must be conducted at the level of the BES server and will affect all users on the BES server.

    • KB15003 How to create an icon on the BlackBerry smartphone to BlackBerry Enterprise Server messages

Or you can get the application to empower BES Inbox. This solution costs (per user), but does not require a change at the server level and affects only a single user.

Neither solution would do anything on Messages - will continue to contain what it contains today. All they will do is activate an additional icon on your home screen that is a filter for your BES emails only. You can hide or move the Messages icon/app out of the way, but beware - there are more that just the emails that arrive in Messages... it will come a day when you have a new message indicator and only by digging through Messages that you will be able to find this message.

Or, if you have the correct device OS version (I know for sure it works on 5.0.0.32 8 of the storm), the device gives you options for what to display in Messages and you can remove BIS email accounts.

I hope this helps explain how it all works!

    Good luck!

  • BlackBerry BES Q10 but phone fixed wipe initiated with power offshore.

Guys at work lost phone Q10 on BES 12 user lost about 500 contacts and really need for their return.

I'm not turn on until I know, that it will not wipe it. SIM is removed and if possible I will get to a place where there is no WiFi to turn on.

Device and removed from BES and protect the user was never activated.

    It comes

It will always be to wipe once a week has elapsed?

    @TyW ?

Contacts are not in outlook. This user has no idea where they are. I hope that I'll get home and try to save it with no wifi on. Already deleted SIM.

I don't know if there is a local workspace contacts could be saved to

  • We will be able to download a new BES application

    Hello

We try to create a web application client, which allows the admin to download an application on the BES server so that bb users will get a push notification. We through the Blackberry Administration API and pointed out that we can put policies and configuration and add the user as needed and so on. But I have not seen any information to download an application to BES server that is to say that we are trying to automate the process of loading a new application to the BES and send notification to all users or groups for the Admin, to make the task of our admin quick and easy.

Is this possible?... Waiting for your response to the furthest!

The only way to add applications currently is through the BOTTOM which is a manual process. Yet, there is the possibility of adding the BES applications programmatically.

  • Registration of a client device in a java application with BES/MDS

    Hi all

I put this thread here that my application is a java application, but it could have also listed under the section development push as well.

I have a part of my application that needs to connect to the BES to a certain company to receive push messages. The app works fine establishment of a listener and receiving thrusts by the MDS Simulator, and I also added more code to register the device with the BIS (BPA) from BIS example of Simon Hain.

Initially I thought that the he had to register with the BES, just like how register us with the BIS except change some settings, as do not add an app ID etc. I have created a basic application of the Z10 push and remember that coding is the same for the BIS and BES except that the application ID and address BIS have been left blank. But now, after some research, I think with Blackberry 6/7, to onboard with a BES connection (unless a middleware program requires us to send some data onboarding) to receive a Push message, we just open a connector to the port number using the deviceside = false setting and wait for help to arrive.

I looked on the net and forums to directly answer this question but can't seem to find one, that's why I'm asking here confirm.

Quite simply, taking example of Simon for base, if I plug a client device to a BES (where the server application didn't need any onboarding of the device, its function is to, just send a message to the JSON style to the MDS with the device PIN to the device) would need to register the client with BES/MDS device, as Simon does with its function of registerWithBpas() to register with BIS/BPA , or could I just go directly to opening a connection to a port with the parameter; deviceside = attached false and wait for a Push message to arrive.

Of course the devic has already been saved in the BES with its ID, e-mail address of the person using this device, etc.

Simon if you get a chance to personally respond to it, that would be great!

Thank you all for your time and your help.

    Rob

Do not enter the unit, simply push the spindle for the MDS and push message will appear on the device.  As you rightly point out, the device is already on the BES and must use the MDS to access the internet in any case.
