BlackBerry features 10 BES and BIS

Hello

I am interested in getting the Z10 or later the phone of Q10. My problem is that I received information that the Z10 does not support BIS and then probably also not BES. My first and main reason for using blackberry for many years already is for the BES option.

Concerning

Hello and welcome to the community!

BIS = no. BIS is indeed eliminated for BB10 and on some carriers, even reported to block functions if she is active on the user account (for example, they passed a pre-BB10 device, but did not have their carrier to remove the BIS account subscription).

BES = Yes, but these features to BES10.

Good luck!

  • BlackBerry Smartphones BES and BIS emails for display separation

Just bought a Bold 9000 (my first BB) and very disappointed that separation of BES and BIS emails is not a standard feature. BES can be displayed via the files of common messages that shows everything, including BIS emails/SMS/IM etc. BIS messages can be seen in their respective folder (i.e. yahoo/gmail)

There is a product like know empower (http://www.getempower.com/)is a PURCHASABLE third party product that is supposed to separate the mails, but it is certainly a good way to provide this functionality as part of your product that I won't have to sift through all of my emails and understand those who are BES/BIS.

Empower the BTW does not work on later versions of the o/s of BB and this means that the "BOLD" is assigned. Come on guys, the sort...! Either buy empower and integrate into your device where it can be updated with your resource ample or build something that focuses a bit more to the needs of the customer.

BES 4.1.5 gives you an option to separate BIS and BES mail. Also the sms/mms can be separated as well.

  • Question, security and confidentiality of Smartphones blackBerry using BES and BIS

I have a BB of work that is supported by a Blackberry Enterprise Server. I also have a yahoo staff & accounts gmail that I set up on my BB device. My concerns are:

    1. Are my emails yahoo & gmail routed through the server of the company or it comes directly from my phone provider
    2. If it is routed through my BES, is that questions of confidentiality for my private email?
    3. Is there a way to protect personal information when the data is routed through the company system BES

Frankly, I don't want my people to work never see my personal yahoo or gmail emails. This is why I am asking these questions.

    Thanks a ton!

    Hello.

    1. No, they are not being routed through the BES.  They will make your device through the pine and the NSE that you entered when you set up your BIS account directly.

    2 see #1

    3 see #1

If you are concerned about your personal data, perhaps you should consider getting your own device.  What I did (and I'm the BES Admin).

  • BES blackBerry to keep smartphones and BIS, under separate cover

I have two questions, but I posted it separately in order to clean the threads... It is the second question.

I use BES to get work e-mail (Exchange). The courier will in the "Messages" folder

I also have a few personal email accounts, say one for Yahoo. So I created a BIS account to my Yahoo mail. Mail from this account will in BOTH the "@yahoo" folder and the "Messages" folder

I don't mind having all the BIS email set, but is it possible to have the separate BES mail? You know what they say about mix business with pleasure... Well, me neither. But it's probably not good.

    Ideas?

  • Availability of BES and BIS

    Hi guys,.

The question is really simple to someone who knows the answer:

Is it possible that BIS is not available but BES is?

We have problems with https, I suggested that we must always use BIS rather BES for https. But I am aware that if he disconnects the user companies.

I will also play with the resumeable calls - to send or receive data in small portions over https. I think that this will solve the problems with https connections.

    Thank you

    Eugen

    Short answer Yes.

It is possible that Blackberry devices are actually allowed to use BES/MDS only for their activity on the internet - which means that all Internet activity is carried out via the network of companies and thus the corporate firewall.

  • Smartphones blackBerry BES or BIS?

As my company takes away us from the Treo for BlackBerry platform (which looks like to I receive a Verizon Curve 8330), we will of course use BES (BlackBerry Enterprise Service) for our functions of Microsoft Exchange Server.  I wonder if I'll be able to also use BIS (BlackBerry Internet Service) to connect to my personal email accounts.  A lot of what I've read, including instructions for upgrade of OS HH 4.5.x, seems to lean towards either / or, not so much "both."  Can BES and BIS happily coexist in the same device?  TIA.

    Jim

Hi and welcome to the forums!

Your device's configuration (corporate law) BES or BIS (individual).

I guess it will come Eden to your company IT dept, as to whether you will be able to add your personal accounts.

You can get a jump on your new BB reading Blackberry 101. Just Google, it's on this site!

If this answers your question, please, take a minute and close this message via the options on the yellow star Bravo.

Thank you very much. Let us know if there is anything you need.

  • BlackBerry Z10 Z10, problem with Gmail and BIS

I just got a new Z10 and had all configured to discover that my primary e-mail service, Gmail, does not work if the only internet access is through the Blackberry Internet Service (BIS).

When I configured first, I got Wi - Fi active (other than BIS, I don't have a data plan as my main focus is email). As it was my 3 services e-mail (Gmail, Hotmail and my prived ISP service) all the connected without problem. It was only after I turned off WiFi that I discovered that while my other two services work fine, my Gmail account has become "not connected".

I tried everything I could think of, including delete my Gmail account, do a reboot cold and then try setting up the account to new as well as doing a reset complete, I could start over again. All to nothing does not. Only if the WiFi is on what can I cannect to Gmail and that doesn't help me if I don't have a Wi - Fi service.

Does anyone have any suggestions as to what I might try?

Two problems with your comment about BB10 supporting not BIS: 1), a BB subscription service would be nuts not to provide support and 2) my 2 other E-mail accounts work fine with BIS.

You may be right about Gmail not supporting ActiveSync, but on the device the Z10 was supposed to replace (Torch 9860 running os 7.1.0) no problem with Gmail and BIS, so there must be something unique about BB10 on the Z10.

BIS is not used on BB10. BB10 access directly servers of e-mail now.

Have you tried to configure gmail so that the signal from the carrier and not on wifi?

In Gmail, you enable IMAP access and not use two-factor auth

  • Display of blackBerry Smartphones only BES - no available BIS?

I just bought a storm (1 BB never) of SFR (vodaphone) France. I have trouble to configure an e-mail account.

There is no BIS showing. I visited the bb europe site to create a new account, but it says that my storm has not been saved?

When I look at the status or BES or BIS is connected.

Maybe I'm a bit thick, but I thought when you have bought a phone and paid for business correspondence that it would work right?

    Where I'm going wrong?
    Thank you

Finally, I send them to work. I now have additional applications, more e-mail settings and BB browser.

I spent some time with the technical support of French SFR, I told them that BIS was not connected (they had no suggestion) and then I connected via a download and reset.

Apparently this should all have been done before in the store when I bought it.

    Thanks for all the help.

  • Questions on POP/IMAP and BIS blackBerry Smartphones

    Hi all

I have a few questions about defining a blackberry to check your e-mail via BIS.

    1. What is the reasoning behind the creation of blackberry account sometimes POP3 and IMAP the other times? For me, POP3 would be something that you're not on a cell phone.

    2. Why is there no option to choose if you want POP3 or IMAP? I tried to delete the account and add it with an incorrect email address and password in order to get some additional questions during the installation but it does not require if I want POP3 or IMAP.

    3. Because POP3 seems to be an option, is it the same as any other POP3 client for example. Outlook, Thunderbird? What I mean it deletes messages from the server after it downloads? I don't want our users, that have POP3 because their Protocol on blackberry to have their blackberry is the only place where they can get their e-mail.

A few notes on some of the users and the BlackBerry models they have.

All users (as far as I know, there are some office users) have Verizon as their company.

It seems to me the question of POP/IMAP, I do experience is not limited to a single type of model. I have a few users who have the storm, their account has been set up using IMAP, other storm users have been set up as IMAP. I myself have a curve (8330) Mine was installed as IMAP, I recently install an another 8330 users and them was configured as POP3. Another user has a Perl and is IMAP. A user has a global publishing and that is using pop. It seems to me that there is no reason why they choose POP or IMAP.

Thank you all in advance for your help.

    Eric

Hello! I'll try to answer some of this...

    1. What is the reasoning behind the creation of blackberry account sometimes POP3 and IMAP the other times? For me, POP3 would be something that you're not on a cell phone.

... In my humble OPINION the "reasoning" is pure flexibility – to allow a user to access each account type and thus better reflect what they can do on their computer. What about 'if' POP should or should not be on a cell phone, which falls in the pure opinion.

    2. Why is there no option to choose if you want POP3 or IMAP? I tried to delete the account and add it with an incorrect email address and password in order to get some additional questions during the installation but it does not require if I want POP3 or IMAP.

The selection would be a chosen mail server function. Most of the facilities I've seen who have both have separate servers for POP and IMAP for exactly this reason. In addition, some services (GMail comes to mind) allow the user to enable or disable one or both. Instructions for configuring (and be able to direct them to an e-mail specific and, therefore, either POP or IMAP server) are here:

    http://www.BlackBerry.com/BTSC/microsites/search.do?cmd=displayKC&docType=kc&externalId=KB10154&SLIC...

Non - Default BIS leaves a copy on the e-mail server for both types of integration. If, however, they remove on the BB and have enabled OTA synchronization and are integrated into a consistent account, it will remove from the server. Check this list for how it integrates with different services:

    http://www.BlackBerry.com/BTSC/microsites/search.do?cmd=displayKC&docType=kc&externalId=KB05133&SLIC...

I hope that this information will help you get at least a step forward for the problems you're having with your users.

  • How are routed connections Wi - Fi? They are proxyied by BES or BIS?

I'm trying to understand how the Wi - Fi connections are routed in Wi - Fi phones BB.

First of all I am confused that there is an entry in the routing host for WiFi with address/port rcp.na.blackberry.com:443 table. Why is there a blackberry address? I thought that the WiFi was not proxyied through RIM.

Then I read an article by knowledbase entitled "system requirements and support of Wi - Fi enabled BlackBerry smartphones. There, he says for the WiFi connection, you need
-Routable path between the smartphone BlackBerry and Internet via TCP/IP Transmission Control Protocol/Internet Protocol () on port 443
-Routable path of BlackBerry smartphone on the BlackBerry via TCP/IP router on port 4101
    -BlackBerry
access to smartphone for the DHCP server and the domain name system (DNS) Server

If this confused even more. Because I told the phone must be able to reach to the BES or the Internet (I assume that it is address of RIM in the table of routing entry host Wi - Fi) wireless.

Then I read another of the knowledge base article titled 'Services via a Wi - Fi connection' saying 'a network of Wi - Fi enabled BlackBerry smartphone can establish
a WiFi a personal Wi - Fi, a wireless company network
network with a virtual private network (VPN) connection or a hotspot with a
VPN directly to the BlackBerry router connection.

So it says that you need a BlackBerry router VPN connection (I guess that BES) If you are a small business Wi - Fi network.

Finally, my confusion reached upstairs when I read another article titled 'Direct web browsing' knowledge base which says

«Direct web browsing allows BlackBerry smartphones»
with Wi - Fi® technology to navigate the web through hot spots or at home
Wi - Fi networks you connect to a BlackBerry Enterprise Server or the
    BlackBerry Internet Service»

That said, that you don't have to join to BES or BIS.

I'm totally distraught about how Wi - Fi connections are routed.

    Any help is appreciated.

    I got the answer.

The article 'System Configuration required and the support of Wi - Fi enabled BlackBerry smartphones' refers to the configuration required to use Data Services BlackBerry as BES, MDS, BIS, BB Messenger.

These aren't the requirements on applications for non - BB data services like 3rd party MI application trying to connect by Wi - Fi.

If all goes well, it helps to address future confusions.

  • BlackBerry Smartphones move BES Mail to another device

    Hi guys

Im a beginner please take it easy on me and if I left out info to help the problem, please forgive me.

Our MD has a Blackberry smart phone on another network (lets call it Blackberry 8300) we did an upgrade on all new devices and cause is on a new network and the Blackberry "BOLD"

I know that BES does not affect the sim card.  So on the new device, everything works except the mail that is BES not BIS.

Our BES server is in Germany. We are based in South Africa

How can ensure me that mail will go to the new?

I have Desktop Manager v5.0 and in there, there is an option to swap devices.

I did this and coppied all data everywhere everywhere but still no mail.

Please tell me what I need to do to get this working.

It's true. Once you set a password for activation of the account, and the user activates it with the password, all the stuff of BES will move to the other device.

  • BlackBerry Smartphones device date and time will not

I have a BB Torch 9860. Unit date and time is wrong, but I can't change it because the icon in the panel display and controls, update is marked with a lock symbol auto. Also the Auto update time zone: display the prompt with a lock symbol. Network time is correct. Can anyone help with this please. Thank you

Sounds like policy. If this device is on a BES and controlled at least partially from your employer, you need to talk to your employer or your employer, IT people. If it is under your full control and of your device, then there is no problem in removing a COMPUTER policy.

  • BlackBerry Smartphones removing BES requirements set by the previous owner

I was recently given a 8830 by a friend whose society got her a curve.  His previous employer used BES and had password enabled in security options, which made sense because it was a mortgage bank.  I don't use BES, and do not need the password function, but it seems that I can't turn it off.

is there a way to do a hard reset which removes all the restrictions that the previous owner had some?

Options of-> Security-> General Settings Options-> press the Menu button-> Select wipe handheld

Who will wipe the device, do not know if this clears the it policy as well.

  • Not have blackBerry smartphones to connect to BIS on my new Bold 9650

    Hello

I have problems activating BIS on my bold 9650.

    Info on the device:

    Carrier: Vodafone India

    Model: BB Bold 9650 OS5.0.0.975

I bought the power off of best sellers on ebay (a 99.7% feedback and has sold about 50 of the same features so far). It's only a Verizon unlocked BB Bold 9650.

I recorded on my carrier unit. Contacted the carrier several times and they say that my BIS has been activated. But it says "edge" in the small and BIS status as not connected.

    Things I've tried so far:

    (1) tried my SIM on a friend BB and BIS very well

    (2) tried several times battery pull... no use

    (3) recorded from the host routing table... said "The registration message sent" but no response

    (4) my HRT and Service books are empty

    (5) have parameters of GSM/UMTS network, automatic, 2 G

    (6) data services are turned on

    (7) firewall disabled and no IT strategy

    (8) wiping device I tried twice

    (9) tried to create a new account on my Service proider BIS registration site... He says that my device is not registered with the service provider

Some1 can help me solve this problem? I am badly in need of service BIS :-(
