  If you try to delete the duplicates by deleting files directly in the package of the photo library you will damage the photo library.

  Photography shops photos within a structure of database and the objects are distributed everywhere. There is no way tor record delete a single picture using the Finder.

  The photo library is a set, a folder with subfolders and data bases. For a single photo that you import pictures will store the original image file in a subfolder 'Masters' (~/Pictures/Photos Library.photoslibrary/Masters/) or in iCloud, according to your settings.  It will create an additional stamp file, files with faces found thumbnails and previews in the folder found, to share with other applications in the media browser.  Always use Photos interface to remove the photos or the library will become inconsistent.

  You can look inside the set of files grouped by ctrl-clicking on the library and using the command 'Show Package Contents': but make sure you do not move the files.

  To remove duplicates consider using a double Finder program:

  If you have duplicates of a different pixel size in your library as well, then consider Photo Sweeper. We can compare the histograms or bitmaps from photos, so you can detect duplicates as well edited.  In addition, you can set up rules assigned to photos to keep and which to dispose, for example to give preference to more recent photos, photos with the largest size of pixel or photos with metadata.

  PowerPhotos is a great tool to have, when you work in Photos for navigation of several libraries of Photos at once and to see the photos annotated with metadata. It can move photos between libraries and help you merge libraries. But the duplicate detection is not as versatile as in Photo Sweeper. It can detect mainly exact replica.

  I don't know much Duplicate Annihilator, so I can't say how it will compare to the other two.

  In theory, it is possible, although I never did. First step would be to pair your Xperia Z2 to your MacBook pro via bluetooth. The icon located at the top of your screen by the date and time, just after the wifi icon. You may need to activate bluetooth on your Z2. It is located in a 5 d Drobo (without optimization, i.e. contains all original), which I can't take with me when traveling.   When you launch Photos and your library is not available because the drive is offline, Photos will ask you which library to use. You can create a new library at this stage or open a new one.

  Yes, but the photos will all be first download all photos in iCloud in the library of new, local Photos on your Mac. iCloud library aims to keep all the libraries of identical to the version in iCloud iCloud and update. Don't switch to another library in the library of the system, when your external drive is offline. each switch will result in massive downloads and uploads, for several days.  And download my not fit on your internal drive.

  I recommend to use the new library locally and wait until you get home and have access to your external drive.

  Then, use PowerPhotos to merge your new photos in your photo library in the system.  It is a great tool to manage libraries of separate pictures.

  I shoot with a professional 3 Ghost and wondering how to see 4 k on the mac (Macbook Pro retina 15', mi 2014) and love at first sight?  Do I need to calibrate the screen?  Or can someone tell me best practices for videographers again using Final Cut.  I know I have a lot to learn.  I just spent iMovie to Final Cut and that's just for real estate professionals.
