Hello and welcome to the community!

I recommend that you try to start safe mode:

  • KB17877 How to start a smartphone BlackBerry in Mode safe

It will take several attempts to get the combination of keys ESC (press/release/hold) OK, so be patient. When properly in Safe Mode, see what happens.

If the behavior continues, then well... think what happened just before this behavior started? A new application? An update? A theme? Something else? Think carefully that the slightest change can be causal... and try to undo all that was.

But if the behavior continues mode without failure, you may need to consider more drastic measures - WIPE, OS Reload, BBSAK Wipe/Reload and the process of reloading OS 'skeleton '. To prepare, you should be sure that you have a full backup of your PC... Please see the Backup link in my sig auto on this post for instructions.

Have a huge problem with 9700, 9800 and now a sound new 9780.

With Edge connected to BIS and then connect to a wifi network asfter 20 or 30 minutes the EDGE becomes slice but wifi is always connected, so it is fine, however if I disable wifi and edge will not reconnect to the BIS and I must ob offline mobile network and on again and then edge will become EDGE until the next time I do wifi...

It will be also randonly drop the connection all im not wifi...

    Im running the last 6.0.0.534

All the others with this problem? It's a pain to turn off andf on the connection and check if it is still connected. There are 37 pages in this on crackberry http://forums.crackberry.com/f209/bis-keeps-dropping-514869/index37.html

    see you soon

OK for someone who comes across this post, I found the answer, it seems to be a problem with saved wifi and when you back up your data on OS5 and move to OS6 it creates this problem to abandon the BIS connection, remove all wireless profiles and disable those that come pre installed and then reboot the phone, the problem should fix right now and you can re add wifi connections

  • BlackBerry smartphone Storm2 (9550) Reboot time?

I use QuickPull to reboot my phone and I noticed that it takes on average 10-15 minutes to restart, is this normal?  Looks like a very long time for me.

Quite normal in my experience. Everything depends on how load the BB is. For example, if you wipe and reload your OS from scratch and don't add anything, it will restart faster. When you add 3rd party applications, data, application, etc., the time gets longer. The timeline you mention is quite consistent in my experience.

    Good luck!

  • BlackBerry smartphones hangs on reboot

My 9630 has had some problems of "lock-up" lately in the last weeks, and today my blue tooth with my car interface was defective.  Assuming that there was a problem with the BB, I decided to just pull the battery and restart the device.  Restarting the process progressed normally (takes several minutes normally), but this time, the progress on the advanced screen about point 2/3 bar and stopped.  No progress.  Let him sit there for 10 minutes and again, it will not progress.  I wear about 3500 contacts but this restart process has never been long.  Can someone tell me what I need to do?

Keep trying safe mode. I know that on mine, it does not quite identical to KB process. On mine, I have to wait until the progress bar of start starts... and then press the ESC key. I tend to press it several times during the progress of the triangle of progress in safe if it's important, but it's what I do. It took a few tries for me to do things.

Also, make sure you wait a while... 10 minutes may be insufficient. Try 15... or maybe 20. I don't really know. In addition, it is not faster than a normal start in safe mode startup.

Finally... I hope that you already have a recent backup of your data or synchronize your PC application (for example, Outlook) or are on the BES. If you are unable to start, there will be none to take now a backup.

    Persevering and let us know.

Hello! Have you done a hard reset?

A hard reset is similar to rebooting a computer that is not responding. A hard reset shut BlackBerry applications and restarts the BlackBerry smartphone operating system reboots the hardware components of the BlackBerry smartphone, including the wireless transmitter/receiver.

Note: A hard reset deletes all settings or the data on the BlackBerry smartphone.

To perform a hard reset, follow these steps:

    1. Turn off the BlackBerry smartphone.
    2. Remove the battery.
    3. Reinsert the battery.
    4. Wait until that smartphone BlackBerry start.

    In addition,

Confirm that all installed third-party applications are approved for the device

Make sure that all third party applications installed on the BlackBerry smartphone are approved for the device. If the problem persists, remove third-party applications to ensure that they do not affect performance.

    And don't forget,

    Optimize flash memory

You can keep the smart phone BlackBerry operating at peak performance by maximizing the available flash memory. Increase the amount of available memory on your BlackBerry smartphone by performing the following tasks:

    1. Add a memory card
    2. Remove unused languages
    3. Delete call logs
    4. Remove the sample video
    5. Empty the Cache and Cookies in the browser
    6. Delete rarely used applications
    7. Delete old data

  • Problem of rebootting blackBerry Smartphones

What's the solution when a show phone as this (UncaughtException:java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError) cos it make the phone slow during the restart and my card, twitter can't b found and some applications do not work.

Hello and welcome to the community!

There is virtually no diagnosis of those - they are the equivalent of random errors in Windows for which trace the root cause is futile. Basically, here's the last out in the programming code - some event occurred for which there is no event handler in the code. The patch is an update of the code that handles the event... but, again, what is the event is almost impossible. So, there are a few things to try:

Sometimes, the code simply is damaged and needs to be updated - just like a reboot:

    • Each time a random strange behavior or slow creeps, the first thing to do is a battery pop reboot. With power ON, remove the hood back and remove the battery. Wait a minute, then replace the battery and cover. Power on and wait patiently through the long reboot - about 5 minutes. See if things return to functioning. Like all computing devices, BB suffers from memory leaks and others... with a hard reboot is the best remedy.

If it doesn't boot properly, then you need to try Safe Mode:

    • KB17877 How to start a BlackBerry smartphone in safe mode

There may be a code updated to the value of the carrier - check out them through this Portal:

The toughest possible causes are a bad application behave. To find it, there are two options. Is to see if you can read the log file:

Go to the home screen. Hold down the "alt" key and type "lglg". (You won't see anything as you type). This will bring up the log file. Scroll down (probably a lot of pages) until you see a line that says "eception execption. Click on this line. The application name will be in the info. Alternative methods to implement the newspapers are in this KB:

    • KB05349 How to activate, view, and extract the the event logs on a BlackBerry smartphone

The other method is to remove the apps one at a time, wait a while between the two (I usually recommend a week), until the problem stops... revealing the offending application. Yet another method is to recharge the BB OS itself, leaving little time between the addition of other applications on the BB in order to be able to determine exactly what is the cause.

In fact, you may be able to retrieve it without the drastic recommendation above. I recommend that you try to start safe mode:

Only in cases where the application has caused corruption OS a full reload of the OS should be demand... but if it's just a bad application behave, Safe Mode will allow you to remove it.

  • BlackBerry Smartphones perpetual reboot!

Yesterday, I downloaded and app from BB Appworld and then decided to do not keep. I uninstalled and my BB has required a reboot after the uninstall, I selected OK. It has now been rebooting for about 20 hours.

Turnes off phone, is the black screen with the Blackberry logo and status bar, the bar fills, freezes, status display turns black, the LED flashes red and phone starts to begin again.

I took out the battery (at 6 o'clock) and the restart of the perpetual remains.

Tried to connect with the BB desktop to reinstall the OS, but because it is in fact never start the Desktop Manager is not able to connect.

Due to a hardware upgrade in 6 months, so looking for a DIY option.

  • BlackBerry Smartphones reboot for more than 2 hours is this normal?

I have the 8520 and earlier today, he said that there is an update available for bbm. I installed the update and it told me to restart the phone, I did three hours ago. The home screen is there, but is completely frozen is this normal? Please help I bought this phone 5 days ago and it's really bugging me,

Hi and welcome to the Forums!

Thus, the reboot took 2 hours? Or it restart but the home screen is frozen? These are two totally different situations.

However, with the power on, please remove the battery again. Leave it for at least 10 minutes. Then put back in and wait through the restart - at least 20 total minutes (maybe a little more... "I wait 15 minutes after the reboot is complete before judging whether it is frozen or not).

If this fails, I recommend to start safe mode and delete what you have installed just before it started:
