BlackBerry Smartphones BB vs Verizon XV6800, Moto Q9c, Palm Centro - help decide me!

After several years of use of Palm trees (started with a pilot 5000!), I'm considering a switch, as Palm seems to be slowly disappearing out of the scene. Currently, I use Palm Desktop contacts and has recently moved to AppRiver hosted exchange server messaging. I'm ready to synchronize with MS Outlook 2007 instead.

I had not thought to use a BB, because I don't need push email from BB. However, reading over the VZ inscription, it seems that a BB can also manage my email account, I'd like confirmation that the BB can indeed handle push AppRiver email.

The reason why I am considering a BB at all is that selection of VZ smartphone is not IMHO a lot. For example, they just drop the Samsung i760, which is what I was counting on. This leaves a few, and they have advantages and disadvantages:

VZ XV6800: has all the features I could want, including a large touch screen, that I like from Palm. But... even with the discount, it is $ 250.

Moto q: ugly. wholesale. no touch screen. Not expensive, but at $49.

Centro: cute, free, but keyboard is too small for my thumbs. I've got enough bad leafing as it is.

BB 8330: free. ubiquitous. no touch screen.

Yes, fans of BB: how would you rate the 8330 for someone who uses exchange server push e-mail and Outlook?

Appreciate any thoughts.

(1) well, but the blackberry way.
If you want to use the Blackberry messaging service, you need to either use a BIS address (= a new address to which you can transfer your mails AppRiver), or use a live.com/gmail.com/yahoo.com address.
In the first case, when you send an email it will always address BIS.
in the second case, it will be the e-mail address of the mail host.

You can also use a desktop redirector but he deafeats goal.

(2) very well, but I can't compare. But I know that outside of the very recent WinMobile smartphones, you can e-mail in real time like on a Blackberry (you can if your smartphone supports IMAP idle and your e-mail provider, like gmail.com). Connectivity with the Exchange (contacts, calendar, tasks, email) server is harder on Windows Mobile.

decision-making process is different.

For many aspects, the Blackberry is not a smartphone. For many people like me, the Blackberry can't save certain file attachment types: xls, pdf, doc, and if you want to store on the blackberry, you must wait for an upgrade so that you can store and then later open after you delete the mail.

  • BlackBerry smartphones can not move from t-mobile to O2 (help)

    • I bought a Pearl of a co-worker and on the t-mobile network
    • I have unlocked to work with any network and have been using it on the distribution of the O2 for a while
    • I have now moved to an O2 contract with blackberry data and tried to register my phone via O2email.co.uk but continue to get the message that an account already exists for this PIN
    • I spoke in support of the O2 and they tell me the PIN is attributed to another service provider (that I already know) and the other service provider should free it
    • My colleague has contacted t-mobile and they are telling him that his account has been cancelled and that he cannot see a blackberry internet account
    • I was on the site of BIS t-mobile and entered the PIN code and requested a password and I get a text Message indicating that the user name and password do not exist

What can I do to get the PIN released so I can refer to the O2?

The seller or you need to call TMo and ask that the PIN will come out of the old account.

It is a common problem when users abandon an account leave the PIN on this network.

While you have unlocked it correctly, the PIN is always related to the old account.

  • BlackBerry smartphone how to increase the size of database - please help please please

    Hi all

I'm new to the world of blackberry and am stuck with problems. The first is that the size of the database of my BB 9000 is 812.3 K, which I think is default. Now, it's full I get many emails on my phone. For this reason my call logs is deleted automatically, and all the data that I left in the call logs are for the last 24 hours only.

I need help to understand if it is possible to change the size of the database, or if my emails can be downloaded on my media card that is 2 GB. If none of the above is possible then please tell me a solution I need to have for at least 1 week call logs.

    Help, please

  • BlackBerry Smartphones BB dies each discount at zero hour. Help, please!

I have a Blackberry 9000 "BOLD". I had it for a month or two. It works very well.

However today happen something strange.  It suddenly flickered, locking & unlocking itself. : s

I tried to restart it by just turning off the pocket computer, it restarts correctly.

    But he was still blinking.

Then I did a full reboot (removing battery & tel) and now, every time after the red LED switches to the Blackberry loading screen, the white bar only reaching less than 5% of it is loading process, he dies! and restarts again. and it has been like that since.

Can someone help me? What should I do?

    It's so heartbreaking.

    Thank you!

I did something on my own tho, working on it.

And it's done now. FINALLY, THERE IS MORE!  Thank God!

So, if there is someone who has the same situation as this: reboot, die, die, restart, reboot... and it lights up.

WARNING: the data is lost once it done (if you had a previous backup, then no worries)

    You can simply do:

    1 remove the battery.

    2. connect to pc via usb.

    3. If Red LED showing, wait until the icon "no battery" appears in the middle of the screen appears

    4 reinsert the battery

    5. once the computer recognizes the device, open the Desktop Manager

    6. go into the application loader > add / remove applications

    7. check the items that you need for your BB.

    8. Press Next & it'll show "WiFi necessary etc..." and the list of apps to be installed in your BB.

    9. click on finish

    and the process will start.

Soon after, it will load again. But back to the Basic (as mentioned, data has been erased or lost).

A sigh of relief for me.

  • BlackBerry smartphones, I can't believe this... Help, please!

Yesterday, my phone crashed me. The screen was broken. Total accident... I received the new phone today, inserted the SIM card and it says: no data... I have always updated and everything saved on my SIM card... I also backed up on my PC with the blackberry desktop program... nothing works, that too is a data only a few months ago had put on it...

Until about 10 minutes ago, I was able to get my broken phone to turn on and thought I could it synch with no screen... now it won't turn... I lost 200 + numbers and other very important data... countless photos... basically my whole life... FML.

Any help on the recovery or restoration of a broken 8310 data would be greatly appreciated.

    Nathan

Hello and welcome to the Forums of Support BlackBerry.com.

You cannot save everything SIM... very little can move the SIM card... basically that your contacts (and numbers only, not email addresses) and SMS messages.

If you return to your PC? How recently did you backup?

Search your entire hard drive of PC for "*.ipd" (without the quotes) and look specifically into the My Documents folder. No matter what? Don't forget where this file is located.

With the new device, open Desktop Manager > Backu/restore > advanced.

On the right side will be your device data listed.

On the left hand pane will be your backup data. Nothing here? Above this pane, click file > Menu and navigate to the IPD file you found earlier, your most recent backup. Click on it and open it.

Now, all your data backup will be in the left window, and you can choose what databases to restore. Highlight highlight one or more so that it appears highlighted and click the arrow to the right in the middle of the screen and follow the instructions...

    Good luck.

I got the phone from a friend at work and I took it for the sprint and he was handed to zero and all, but I still get emails from the last email from people, and he sends letters electronic that too. HELP PLEASE!

Hi and welcome to the Forums!

While the BB has been reset, the BIS (Blackberry Internet Service) account was not. BIS is that control e-mail accounts that are part of the BB. A feature of BIS, is that, when a BB is reset, BIS pushes down messaging configurations. So, what should happen is that your friend needs to talk to Sprint and have the account BIS also reset, erasing the integrated e-mail accounts. Oh and by the way the account on you so that you can set up your own email on the BB.

    Good luck!
