BlackBerry Smartphones BlackBerry abroad / several sims

Hey!

I know virtually nothing about blackberries, so apologies for the questions beginners...

I plan to do a curve (or possibly storm), but here's my problem: I need to be unlocked and sim-free just because I have a good amount of travel and need to change my sim autour cards often enough. I found a few places that I can get an unlocked, but I wonder if I'll actually be able to use wisely with all the features on my different sims. I know that's probably especially dependent on the networks I'm on and if I have contracts, but someone also told me something about BlackBerry sends constantly data which I really don't understand...?

Anyway, if anyone has experience in the use of their blackberries with several sim cards from different countries and can help me, it would be great! I'm not sure whether it is useful to make a.

caveat applies!

I'll be honest: If you intend to use several SIM cards and want to do something else that a phone/SMS, then don't take a BlackBerry.

If you want to browse the internet, use your device as a modem, do the MMS or receive emails, your BlackBerry will require a SIM card that is connected to a BlackBerry plan. There are a few companies that offer a BlackBerry plan "pay as you go".

With a voice standard + plan data for a little money, you won't be able to just take a SIM card out and expect it to work on your device with the exception of the voice/sms.

I did a little research and although have found similar cases, I'm not quite sure if this has been covered completely. Please forgive me if it has.

I'm going abroad in Germany for a year, and it is useless to cancel me my current plan of the monthly British payroll with Vodaphone. As far as I know my blackberry is unlocked at the international level - I put an old, German o2 pay as you go sim in my phone. Seemed to work very well (sign of o2 Germany, received a message on homelessness in the UK, etc.), but I had no credit so couldn't test. I registered again my user ID of blackberry on my home wi-fi. But other that I couldn't do much to verify the extent of my use.

However, I heard various accounts of not being able to use e-mail, internet, wipe the contacts, etc..

If someone could clarify this, here are my questions:

    • If I take my sim UK vodaphone, is anyway I have accumulate roaming charges? Is my blackberry ID, potentially with a new German supplier, related to my old?
    • Will he make any question tries to access my email, bbm, whatsapp, etc., with a different number and in a different country.

One has experience in this area, in Germany (a long shot), Europe or world? It seems that the whole ID blackberry complicates things.

My phone is a Blackberry Bold 9900, AFAIK its software wise update - I have updated today with the "Bundle 2061 7.1" I think.

    Thank you

Hello and welcome to the community!

There are a number of problems to know for what you propose... Here are my thoughts... (Note that I have traveled internationally widely enough with a BB).

If you activate a plan of itinerant international with the support of your home, you should be able to keep your current SIM card in your BB and have all the features anywhere where you are allowed (according to what your home carrier active). Costs are not small in general, but your home operator is the only entity that can tell you if it will work and for how much money. My personal experience with this method was difficult, it took two 'stranded' international travel before my carrier home could properly configure my account for full international roaming I needed. And once my BB was out of my home network, there was nothing else they could do... so the two 'fail' the TRIPS Agreement.

Given that your BB is unlocked, you can use it on other carriers, simply by changing your SIM card. But with BB, it is not quite as simple as that.

No BB does exist (indeed, no device anywhere that I know of) that has all the radio technologies/frequencies within the view are just too many in the world. Thus, your first task is to ensure that your BB has the ability to the same function on the support networks you want to use it on. You must study the capabilities of your specific BB against the requirements of networks you will operate on... you may need to ask those network operators for more details.

If this element is satisfied, which then verifies that you have services at the level of the voice (calls, voice mail, SMS). But for level data services, increase complications.

Each company chooses patterns specific to BB (by model number) that they will promote "automatically". I do not know the carriers that have their network configured to support all the model numbers of BB. If the carrier you wish to automatically use your BB model number on media, then their system will be able to automatically deliver to your BB Service books required in order to activate the BB exclusive services (email, BBM, etc.). But, if their network does not natively support your specific model BB number, then their network is not likely to be able to automatically deliver these Service for your BB books... which will prevent the use of their network BB exclusive services. Again, you must inquire carriers on which you want to run if your specific model BB number is supported by their network for the automatic distribution of maintenance book.

In addition, it is to ensure that your home carrier frees your BB PIN of their system of BIS. A BB PIN can exist in only one carrier BIS system anywhere in the world... so if your home carrier doesn't release him, then the other carrier will not be able to allocate a BIS account for you, and you still won't be able to use services BIS of them. In this case, it is usually a matter of contact your supplier of home and convince them to release your BB PIN of their system of BIS.

If all goes well and all the conditions are met, then it can be quite transparent to switch between carriers, simply by changing your SIM card, ensure that each SIM card includes good BIS Services this carrier of course.
But if anything this either in the chain requirements above fails, it can sometimes be frustrating to make the things work pretty well (reminds me of my two "failed" international travel).

So, with all this as preamble, now to your questions...

Given what you describe, I see no for Vodaphone to charge you roaming charges. Without their SIM in your BB, your BB may not even try to use any resource of Vodaphone. But, you will need to get confirmation of Vodaphone on this point... so that they control all services, billing, etc. for your account. BB services you are subordinate to your main carrier services... you need the services of the main carrier to provide network connectivity services BB riding on this network connection.

There are always opportunities for questions. When you use a different SIM card, you are constrained to some services that provide the SIM. If it does not, for example, BIS level services, then you won't access to people. Similarly, if there is some government restrictions for some services, you can be restricted from that as well. If you get a SIM card with full services of BIS and, as described above, you spent all of the required components that I have listed, then you should be able to have all the services you listed. It is possible that you may need to reconfigure your email... There are stories about these configurations if shattered when change carriers... but the BBID integration is intended to facilitate this exact type of change of carrier, so it should not happen. But don't we can, of course, no promises.

    Good luck!

You may need to call your carrier to get a BlackBerry data plan added to your service

    You can try this

    On the handset, go to:

    For OS5 and 4.x
Options - Advanced Search - host Routing Table
Click on register now and escape from the home page.

    For OS6 and above
in options, advanced, feature host routing table, click on the menu and select Register now.

Wait 2 minutes and see if the network registration occurs.

Return your books to your BIS service provider site:
    Of your handheld: http://www.blackberry.com/btsc/KB15402

Go to the Personal Email Set Up icon and sign. Then under help!, select Service books and select send service books.

Your desktop PC: http://www.blackberry.com/btsc/KB02830North American carriers - scroll to select your carrier
Carriers worldwide - find your operator from the list

    3. with the BlackBerry device powered time, remove battery for a few seconds and then reinsert the battery to restart. This restart, even if you have already done this, is often necessary to install the service books.

  • BlackBerry smartphones to remove several Messages?

First of all, I have the storm. It is not perfect,... and has a way to go, but it's a whole new product and design for Blackberry. Be a software QA tester, I see it all the time. Give them people of the time, I do not know marketing that knocked out a little faster while engineers would have liked, they always do. Let know what the problem with the storm and I don't know that they will do their best to fix it.

Second... does anyone know how to remove several messages or emails at one time? Or am I missing just something really easy to do?

  • BlackBerry Curve 8310 Smartphone: keys Glitching several

    Hello

Just got a phone Curve 8310 used (which is updated to the latest version of OS - 4.5.0.55) and after using it only for two days, I'm starting to meet small, but annoying glitches.

The first is (was) really no reason, several hit started acting as they should not: BlackBerry button, T, Y and a few others did not do what they are supposed to do--they acted as capital Y and after that as Yi combination of letters, which was resolved just out of battery for a few minutes and then put it back in.

The second is still there and it seems to be here to stay - every time when I write letters W, E, R, U, O, P, it saves correctly, but just after that automatically performs a pop-up that offers you to send or close the message. Every time I press the back button-, it does not have a return, but rather written "Hl" message, lol.

This happens as a composer of Message (SMS), both in the software WhatsApp (or anywhere else where I can write).

So, I was wondering - what could cause these terrible key overflows? I mean, I did something specific with it - yesterday wrote a few SMS, some WhatsApp messages and there is no such problems. Any experiences with the settings or software.

Would it be cold outside (now forrest.) For about 5-6 hours per day to about-5, temperature of-15 C) or who should not cause these problems? What can I do to get rid of these problems?

Sorry for the bad English - if something is not clear, I will try to explain better

Edit: after some time looking for the forums, I found this forum thread where some users have found that it could be the reaction of condensation in the phone. If this could be true - is there a way to prevent the phone from getting wet or pick up condensation inside?

As I suspected, the problem was with the condensate in the phone. Put and battery removed my phone on hot heater for about 15-20 minutes to dry out and now everything works fine.

Just letting you know that (at least Curve 8310) is not really like the winters of the Baltic and North - same - 10 c outside could possibly spoil things. So, be careful!

  • BlackBerry Smartphones are Sprint towers SIM locked?

I was on a cell phone and store parts site a few moments ago and I noticed that they offered unlock for towers of BlackBerry, which seemed odd that they would suggest such a thing. And then, I intend to go somewhere soon, and I want to know can I switch SIM cards without problems. Can someone confirm or not the towers have a SIM lock on them? (FYI, for those who are familiar with a different term, when I say SIM lock I am referring to the carrier blocking the no carrier use of SIM cards in the phone without a special password to disable locking)

    Thank you!

Well, its depending on where you're traveling, but for use in the United States, Yes, all the BlackBerrys are delivered locked, including the tower.

If you need your unlocked, just call your operator request a free release. Most requre just one account in good standing, some require an account for 90 days.

  • BlackBerry FLip 8220 Smartphone works with Swedish sim card?

I recentley bought a new unlocked (before T mobile) balckberry flip 8220. He used to recognize my SIM Swedish. The sim card must support edge? Cause my carrier has no edge, just GPRS and 3G.

The 8220 device is unlocked for the other carriers (except Tmobile)?

To determine if your BlackBerry is "unlocked" for use on media other than for which it is the brand:

    1. on your BlackBerry, go to Options > Advanced Options > Sim Card.

    2. in this screen type MEPD (see note below) on your keyboard. A new menu will appear.

    * If your BlackBerry has a keyboard SureType (71xx, 81xx devices) you will need to double-click the P, then the actual keys entered become M E P P D.

    3. search for the network in the list.

    4. If your device is "unlocked", we should have disabled or inactive. If it says active, it is still blocked by this carrier.

  • Emails from blackBerry Smartphones delivered to several mailboxes?

I have my "BOLD" series up for my 3 email accounts.  It works fine, but it seems that all my messages wind up together in their own Inbox on the "BOLD" as well as in my Inbox of BB.  I tried to disable the option "forward" under the filters in the Internet in place of the screens, but then none of the emails come through.  Is this just a feature of the "BOLD" or BB email service that I have to live with?

Email sent TO the BB works like this:

No matter when you REPLY to an email that you receive, the BB ONLY answers the email address to which it was sent.

Same thing with the redirect, except that you can change the account SEND aid to the header of the e-mail before their delivery.

NEW emails: When you compose a NEW message, the BlackBerry will SEND USING THE last e-mail account to which you sent this contact. If you wish, you can change SEND it USING in the header.

First of ALL, go to Options > Advanced > Services by default and set your default main email preferred account, one you use most of the time for all newly composed emails.

    Good luck.
