BlackBerry smartphones, deleting a list of contacts

Somehow when I start my new storm of synchronization, I'm done with 3 Desktop Contact lists - still, with the title of "Desktop".  Now, when I go to Contacts, I have 3 copies of each entry.  Anyone know how I can remove a contact list individually without resetting the unit? Thank you.

I think I found it.   I did use BB Desktop Manager to back up my BB Bold device.  Then go back in the backup/restore, click the Advanced button to display the list of all DBs of device.   I had two entries to address (address and address - all).  We showed some 900 contacts the other 1800, which is where I suspect my duplicates occur.  I selected the address overall and clicked on delete / erase (regardless of the button).   He basically wiped my address book from my BB device.   I was then able to sync using BB Desktop Manager to replace all my contacts from my e-mail on my device.

Under Contacts-> Options, there are still (2), Desktop Contact lists, but in my address book, there is that a single instance of each contact appear, so I'm happy.    It is an alternative / temp to have to wipe your BB device, which was the only alternative, that I could find online.

I hope this helps!

with the use of the Desktop Manager, you can make a selective backup and restore

Make a backup of your device first, using Desktop Manager > backup. Close at the end Office Manager and disconnect it from BlackBerry. Get DM here http://us.blackberry.com/apps-software/desktop/

restore from upward. Follow this KB if necessary http://www.blackberry.com/btsc/KB10339

  • List of blackBerry Smartphones Delete contacts

I show three different lists of contacts on my 9310 curve and I want to remove two of them to remove all duplicates. Apart from the removal of each contact individually (I don't want to have to do with nearly two hundred of them) I don't see a way to remove a list of contacts. Anyone got any suggestions?

    Thanks in advance

    Good point.

I used Blackberry Desktop. When the phone is connected there is an option in the menu device named clear data. When it is clicked, you should see a list of the different types of data, you can choose to delete.

Each list of contacts is displayed in this list, but only as an address book and a number of entries - you can not see the names of the contacts list.

If you know the number of entries there are in the list you want to delete (you can see on the phone in the contact list itself) you can select the lists you want to remove. Otherwise, you can remove all the address data and create a new list of contacts in your normal sync source - in my case it was my Outlook contacts folder.

This is what worked for me.

  • BlackBerry Smartphones Can I edit my Contact list of my PC?

When I connect my BB 9800 to my laptop I don't see the list of contacts on my BB using Windows Explorer.  I would like to be able to do this because my Contact list only contains phone numbers (a report of my previous cell phone) and I want to add email addresses.  I have a lot of entries to change and it would be difficult with the keys of BB.

If I can't do it while only connected to my BB is there a way I can do a "Contact list" on my PC and then export it to my BB?  Thank you, Peter

Hi and welcome to the Forums!

A few things to discuss... so bear with me...

    (1) contrary to others how things, RIM does not provide desktop PIM. Others force you to use their PIM and only their PIM. RIM provides a driving software that works as a bridge between your PIM and the BB. See this compatible PIM KB:

    • KB12268 Applications supported by BlackBerry Desktop Manager to synchronize

    (2) RIM provides a device switch Wizard to migrate from another SmartPhone to a BB... but only for compatible devices. See this KB:

    • KB05459 How to use the switch device Wizard to switch to another smartphone to a BlackBerry smartphone

    (3) If your old phone is not compatible with the wizard, then RIM more offers the possibility to import ASCII and CSV files. See this KB:

    • KB04312 Create and synchronize with an ASCII export file
KB11194 How to import contacts from a CSV file to the BlackBerry
    • Sorry, but RIM does no research on how to get your data from your old device and in ASCII format or CSV... it is a function of your old device.

So your choice is, IMO, to continue to use a desktop PIM for your data (and you should, IMO)... then choose a compatible PIM (from above). Then download your data from your old device and the PIM Office. Next, configure the BB to sync with the PIM:

  • BlackBerry Smartphones BlackBerry Messenger - retrieve a list of contacts

There was a fault of tehcnical with my Curve 8900, so he was expelled for repairs. Now that he's back, I can't BBM to work.

    It has four steps listed

    1. Registering
    2. Profile of user request
    3. Request for list of contacts
    4. Notification of Contacts

The first two are ticked, but it seems to be stuck on step 3 and has been for hours. Only, I had about 12 contacts there so don't know why it take a long time unless there was a problem.

Does anyone know how I would go about fixing this at all.

BTW it seemed that my backup before repairs did not work, so I had nothing to restore when I tried to recover all my settings. Aura from scratch makes a difference to this problem or not?

Sarah, I suggest a reboot of the BlackBerry and try to restore again.

With the BlackBerry device under voltage, remove the battery for a minute, and then reinsert the battery to restart.

  • BlackBerry Smartphones, please help to restore contacts wiped on Bold 9900

    Hello

I had a few problems with apps on my BB Bold 9900 smartphone and erased all the data. Now I'm trying to restore the list of contact., but there are some difficulties:

1 - I don't have a backup on my computer - I have not yet installed the BlackBerry Desktop Software.

1.1 - I tried to install the Desktop software now, but the download is not available to the Canada

    2. I remember, I signed up for automatic backup of my contacts and messages on the BlackBerry server, but I can't understand, how to synchronize now.

2.1 - can be one of the reasons is that my phone is not connected to the BlackBerry Enterprise Server and I do not know how to connect it.

    Thank you

    Slava

Try this: on the phone go to settings and click on email accounts.  It will look like the first screenshot of the site.

    http://helpblog.BlackBerry.com/2011/09/set-up-BlackBerry-7-email/

    Click e-mail accounts

    Click your e-mail account

    Choose Edition

Scroll and click synchronization options to decompress.  You see the contacts box?  If so, check if it is not.

It may ask for your password after making the changes.  Save and return to the home screen.  I don't know how your email was before installation.  Try a few different options.

  • BlackBerry Smartphones several shared calendars and Contacts in double sync for 2 or more e-mail accounts

    HI -.

Still in the period of grace, then trying to decide if I was right to go to BB Android.

#1-calendriers - I have two calendars associated with 2 e-mail accounts I put it in the phone and allows to synchronize calendars BIS.  Like the sync wirelessly with both calendars.  However, during my days of Android, I was able to synchronize several shared calendars (that is to say, family calendar, calendar, calendars of the youth sports teams, etc.).  Problem is that if I want to synchronize my shared calendars then the only way is to get them to use Google Sync - but only as 'read only' for all but the main calendar.  Can I bring in shared calendars using BIS in which allows me to make changes to the calendars?  I guess that the calendars I ' own ' I can associate with a gmail account and then synchronize this new account gmail with BIS-, but which appears as a workaround and not a solution...

#2-contacts - since I synchronize contacts from two e-mail accounts, it will bring all the contacts of these two accounts.  It does not appear there is a feature to link a contact who could be in both lists of contacts from email account?  In other words, my wife is in my work email contacts list and my list of contacts of personal e-mail - so in the BB, I have two wives (oh * beep * and I'm from Utah!)  Is there a solution?

#3-email happens to BB super fast (love that!) - so when I delete an e-mail from the BB it emerges from my IMAP service that speaks to my laptop fast enough.  The question is when I delete e-mails from the laptop and then it seems to take forever because the message is marked as read deleted.  Is this normal?

. are #4-there additional updates planned for the browser?  Or a third party that you would recommend.  I was hoping OS 6 improvements would make the web browser close browser Android - but not so much anymore - my memories of my old BB seems to be somewhat similar (that is to say, probably will not use all that often...).  Well, that's a business phone...

    Thanks for the replies!

    Jim

    Newbie... hoping to be veteran...

    Update *.

So the answer on the forum was so amazing I had to weed out the useful responses from those who were not so helpful... j/k

So I'm finally in contact with a technical support person (old-fashioned of anyone who speaks English as much as support-).  Technical support is very helpful - but the final answer is that BIS cannot synchronize with a shared calendar.  If I want to sync shared calendar, so I have to use Google Sync - but that runs the risk of all my appointments being pushed in my calendar by default - and I can't update my calendar (s) shared my BB unless you use Google web interface with the shared calendar.  So sounds like shared calendar is not necessarily a strong suite for BlackBerry...

Second - the duplicate contacts - this is another thing that I just need to choose to show only an email contacts from the account and put my "allow duplicates" to yes if I want to be able to update the contact information for this contact.  Such a disappointment, but hmm...

While speaking with support technical so I asked if the two questions above have been on the 'doing' list for our next update.  The answer I got was "I don't know" - the techie even put me to keep for a while so he could ask some of his mates if they had heard what that either, but they didn't.  A useful 'I don't know', but still a "I don't know."

Third - emails takes awhile to reconcile on the phone when they were checked on the computer (that is to say, appear as read or class).  I was told at the Sprint store that it is just a setting.  I tried to adjust my options of 'Approximation' with two email accounts, but I have always the same question.  Maybe there's hope yet for this topic?

Fourth - web browser - I think I just need to not think about a BlackBerry as a machine of websurfing.  Last night I tried to browse the web at a site and it took me forever!  I think it's high on BlackBerry ' to do' list while OS 6.0 was supposed to revolutionize our web experience.  Oh how I envy for my touchscreen when you surf...

So, now to decide if I keep the Style of back flip BB more in the Android world - the good side of things, my battery life was impressive compared to my Android phone!  I even kept Pandora for a whole day and my battery was still fresh at the end of the day.  Perhaps some of the reason for the battery life is I don't jump on Wiki or search Google to understand the answer to your questions because I knew that the experience would be too painful, waiting for my BB browser, but still... a phone available for making/receiving calls throughout the DAY! Something that I have not had since I'm on BB some time ago...

    Thank you-

    Jim

    Help.

Hi and welcome to the Forums!

What you need to do is to find, on your PC, the IPD file created when you backed up. Search your entire hard drive *. IPD. Then use this file as the source of a restoration of your new BB (choose ONE of these KB, depending on the version of the RIM Desktop software you have already installed on your PC):

    • KB23680 How to back up and restore data from BlackBerry using BlackBerry Desktop Software 6.0 smartphone
    • KB10339 How to use BlackBerry Desktop Manager 4.3 to 5.0.1 to restore data from a BlackBerry smartphone from a backup file

  • BlackBerry Smartphones combine phone and gmail contacts?

Hello, I recently downloaded my gmail contacts on my BB and now all my email contacts are mixed with my contacts from phone (most of them are also under the same name). It makes it much harder to make a simple phone call or email to someone - is it possible to combine a phone contact and e-mail into one? Thank you!

I was wondering the same thing.  What a PITA.

I think that initially when you configure Gmail on the BB, it prompts you to decide whether or not you want to synchronize contacts (from Gmail).  I think that if this box is left unchecked, it would not have imported all the contacts of Gmail in the list of Contacts [phone].

If you want to delete your Gmail from your torch, then re-setup Gmail account and make sure you don't synchronize contacts, maybe he should correct the problem.

If you delete Gmail, it cannot automatically remove all Gmail contacts in your Contacts list.  You might need to open the full menu in the contact list, select Select a list of Contacts..., choose Gmail, then delete each individual contact gmail.

  • BlackBerry Smartphones can't find my contacts.

I'm new to Blackberry and I have Verizon.  My list of contacts from my old phone was transferred with the program Back Up Assistant to my BB.  My problem is that I can't get to the top of the list.  I know that it is there, because when I dial a number which is in it, it pulls up the name of the person I call.  When I open the address book there nothing there.  When I go into the options, it says I have 67 entries, but I don't see them.  I called verizon and they were not so useful.  Anyone has a suggestion?

Hmm... I tried.  Click on address book then the menu button.  It does not provide the option for the SIM directory.  the only options are help, filter, new address, new Group Options, switch App and close.

  • Office of blackBerry Smartphones... Lost contacts icon...

I'm totally new to the Blackberry, located in the United Kingdom and with the Vodaphone network.

I have no access, except through the green button for a list of contacts. I have reviewed manuals etc and saw that an icon should appear between sms and calendar but mine is not there. I have configure the phone via Vodaphone to access my mail via outlook and have 2 icons of messages, it seems to work fine...

Can someone tell me where I have gone wrong?

    Steve

    It's probably hidden...

On your home screen with all the icons displayed, press MENU > SHOW ALL as well as show all is checked. Look about her.

Also look in your Applications or downloads folders, no matter which folder, where it could have been moved by accident.

  • BlackBerry Smartphones want backup of my contacts from phone in xls format.

    HII

I am a new Member and this is my 1st post. I have Blackberry 8800 and I have more than 1500 contacts saved in my 8800 but now I recently bought Blackberry Pearl 3 G. So now now I think to take backup of contacts stored in my 8800 instead to save contacts manually in my new Pearl 3 G, so that after a while I can import the contacts from my new Pearl 3 G.

Then, everyone here, please help what and how I can do as requested above?

    Hello poojaagrawal979!

You compatible with software because there is an amazing software called Zebrost software directory with backup as one of its features.

If you are compatible with the software, install Blackberry App World zebrosr. Zebrost directory can be used parellely with our native directory.

Its free and very easy to use.

After the installation of Zebrost, follow the procedure next-

    1. go to your list of contacts in zebrost, click on the menu.

    2. Select Advanced Zebrost Options.

    3. Select Select backup take via zpb server.

    4. it will ask for your e-mail address, enter your email address where it will provide your backup in xls format. Due to xls, you can also filter option.

    5. less than a minute, it will provide you with unique 19-digit. Save this number.

    6. so that whenever you want to import your backup in the BB Pearl 3 G, you need to enter the unique number.

    7. to import contacts, you need to install Zebrost in your BB Pearl 3 G also.

    8. If you want to import the backup of contacts, go to Menu > Advanced Option > import backup > Zpb Server > 19 digit unique number (that you obtained when taking backup).

Seem to have solved by defining desktop BB software to a one-way synchronization of the device with the PC and then re-configuration 2-way sync later.
