Whenever I hit the symbol "$" on my 8330 it shows what looks like the sign of the pound sterling. Does anyone know how to change that so the sign $ US display instead?

BlackBerry Smartphones icon / symbol removal
Greetings. I have a symbol on the screen on my 8900. It is orange, like the standard message envelope. But it is round and has '1' next to it.
Now as I can do, it is a saved Web page that I didn't save or a new bookmark that I didn't.
But I'm damned if I can see how to remove it.
Any help is GREATLY appreciated as it is senseless bugging me. TIA
Open your mail Messages folder.
Press Menu > folders and check your WAP push messages (or browser push messages) files and find the message and clear or delete it.
Good luck.

It could be AppWorld itself in need of upgrade (new version 1.1.0.15 available last Friday). Many users have found that Viigo for the upgrade.

With a strong carrier network (for example, not WiFi), I suggest the following steps, in order, even if they seem redundant to what you have already tried (steps 1 and 2, each should result in a message from your BB... ( Please wait for this before moving on to the next step) :
(1) registry HRT
- KB00510 How to register a BlackBerry smartphone with wireless network
- Please wait a 'registration' message reach your Messages application
(2) Service reference books
- KB02830 Send the directories for the BlackBerry Internet Service
- Please wait "the Activation' Messages, one per already configured e-mail account, arrive in your Messages. If you have not already configured email accounts, please wait 1 hour.
(3) restart to take batt
- With power ON, remove the hood back and remove the battery. Wait a minute, then replace the battery and cover. Power on and wait patiently through the long reboot - about 5 minutes. See if things return to functioning. Like all computing devices, BB suffers from memory leaks and others... with a hard reboot is the best remedy.
I hope that will move things again for you! If this isn't the case, then you should contact your mobile provider for formal support.
Good luck!

I tried several solutions

Rejected and he was left without a battery for a day and prepared the battery charge. The same problem.
I sent a specialist. And gave me a way to fix the software
Gave me the steps followed by the reform step by step... To download the software via a cable
But before it has finished downloading the new update for cause seems to me incomprehensible symbols box. Here
If you press Retry rear cargo since the beginning... And back to me the same box. Rush cancel tell me finished loading but coincided warnings.
Here
And reboot my device. But the same problem came back.
..
Is there a solution?...
Sorry for my writing skills, because English is not my first language
Hello and welcome to the community!
The easiest way is, on a PC (you can not do on MAC):
(1) make sure that you have a current backup and your BB complete... you can find the instructions at the link in my auto-sig below.
2) uninstall all the BB OS packages from your PC,
(3) make sure you have the BB Desktop Software already installed
(4) download and install on your computer, the BB OS package you want:
- If all you want are the levels of BONE, it is first sorted by carrier - the carrier supports, your search will be fast. However, some carriers are much slower than others to release updates. To really get the package up-to-date OS for your BB, you need to dig through and find all businesses that support your specific model BB and then compare the BONE levels they support.
5) remove all copies of the SELLER on your PC. XML... There will be at least one and maybe 2, and they will be located in the same way or to (it changes based on your version of Windows) these files:
- C:\Program Files (x 86) \Common Files\Research In Motion\AppLoader
- C:\Users\(your Windows username) \AppData\Roaming\Research In Motion\BlackBerry\Loader XML
6 (a) to change your level of BB OS installed (at level or lower), you can run the Desktop software and connect your BB... the software should offer the operating system package you have installed on your PC.
6 (b) or, for recharging your BB OS level installed as well to change, work around the Desktop software and use the CHARGER. EXE directly, through step 2 in this process:
- Note Although written to "recharge" and the storm, it can be used to upgrade, downgrade or recharge any BB device model - depends on the operating system package you download and install on your PC.
If, during the process of 6a or 6 b, your BB has an error '507', simply unplug the USB of the BB cord and reinsert it. do nothing else... This should allow the installation to continue.
You can also study the use of BBSAK (bbsak.org) to perform the wipe what he is capable.
You can also try the "skeleton OS Reload procedure" in an attempt to circumscribe the precise causal element:
- Load your OS "bare bones"... If everything is optional, do not install it.
- If the behavior is immediately, then try another OS with step 1
- If the behavior does not immediately, then run for as long as necessary to make you to be sure that the behavior will not occur.
- Add one more thing - no matter how tempting, one.
- If the behavior does not immediately present, and then runs for long enough to be sure he won't have the same problem
- Repeat steps 4 and 5 until all things are responsible or the behavior presents
When the behavior shows up, you know the culprit... the last thing you have loaded.
If the behavior doesn't re-present, then you know that step 1 or 2 cured it.
If the behavior has anything, then you have probably a problem of material level for which no amount of OS or software can heal.
You can also use these tricks - if suggest a website, please rather replaced by 6a or 6b above:
- KB10144 How to force detect the BlackBerry smartphone using the Application Loader
- KB27956 How to recover a BlackBerry smartphone from any State
- http://CrackBerry.com/BlackBerry-101-lecture-12-how-reload-operating-system-nuked-BlackBerry
If you are on a MAC, you are limited to only your sanctioned carriers OS packages... but can still use any level they currently have to sanction. See this procedure:
- KB19915 How to perform a clean reload of the smartphone BlackBerry using BlackBerry Desktop Software application software
Good luck and let us know!

BlackBerry Smartphones impossible to disable the password security and encryption
HelloW, I am currently using,
BlackBerry 9780
Smartphone (3G, Wi - Fi)
6.0 bundle 3049 (v6.0.0.706, platform 6.6.0.246)
Band 3G 1,2,5,6
The kernel v3.8.6.5 encryption
Brand version: 1.0.99.538J
The micro Edition configuration: CLDC-1. 1
Micro Edition profile: MIDP - 2.1
Micro Edition JTWI Version: 1.0
Micro Edition Media Version: 1.1
Micro Edition PIM Version: 1.0
Micro Edition file Version: 1.0
Edition micro Bluetooth Version: 1.1
Micro Edition location Version: 1.0.1
Micro Edition Security and Trust Services (APDU) Version: 1.0
WLAN Version: 4.3.0.9
(Research In Motion Limited)
Now the problem is that I'm not able to disable password insecurity,
(Homescreen > options > Security > password), there is a small latch (yellow lock symbol). Another problem is that I am also able to disable encryption, there is a tick mark on who. And there is one symbol of a padlock, please help me da information thereon, after every 20 minutes my B.B gets locked and I asks me to put the password of da, I want what it b done with the company.
Thank you.Hello and welcome to the community!
From what you describe, there is a COMPUTER on your BB policy which is demanding both encryption and a password for the device-lock. If you are currently on the BES, then STOP NOW and see your BES admins they control it.
If you are not on BES, somehow your BB has a COMPUTING policy... the cause maybe it was once associated with BES, but not properly deleted when the property was transferred to you. If all goes well, there will be other problems that often comes with "2nd hand" situations. In any case, you can check this:
- KB30076 How to check for an it on a BlackBerry smartphone policy
Even if does not appear as described, from what you have described, there is probably a COMPUTER policy that is causing this (some may be "hidden"). To remove it, first make sure you have a good backup of your BB... See the link in my sig auto on this post for instructions. Then do this:
- KB31291 How to reset a BlackBerry smartphone to factory using BlackBerry Desktop Software Settings
Thereafter, your BB will be as new... you need to re - install your applications and restore your data (according to the backup you took my instructions above). BUT - when you restore data, DO NOT make a full restore... rather, only restore these databases you need (e.g., Contacts, calendar, Messages, etc.) and more precisely to avoid those who have nothing to do with the COMPUTER policy, company or similar things... If you restore, you will be right where you started.
Good luck and let us know!
