BlackBerry Smartphones have just received my new curve - a few questions

So, I just got my first blackberry, and naturally, I have some questions. Any comment is very appreciated!

1 can I do so that my emails only in my e-mail folder? Rather than in the General mailbox folder AND the e-mail folder? Also, can I make different sounds to receive text emails vs?

2. can I make a photo of the main screen (with icons)? rather than the clouds or Sun that sprint provides?

3. can I make websites as icons on my applications page? That is to say. Facebook, 411.com, etc...

Looking forward to feedback! Thank you!

You delete messages FROM gmail Web page (that is, the mail server page) or your Outlook?

From Outlook, no, deleted messages don't reconcile.

Since GMail Web page server, Yes, deletes reconcile BOTH ways, but it takes MUCH more time from the server to the BB device.

  • BlackBerry smartphones I just got my new Motorola Droid 2

I thought I'd share my feelings on the Blackberry storm and what RIM did that was really bad.

1 RIM abandoned the excitement about the storm very quickly, so that the successive versions were actually worse. I went for more than a year with:

    a. bad phone calls (I had to put in speaker mode to receive calls from phone to work). The Droid 2 is clear.

    b. the screen click statement so much better on the droid just to have a vibrarion minute when you click a button on the screen. Works just as well.

    c. the Blackberry is slow on just about everything and is broken just about anywhere. I get my screen in a mode where I press a keyboard and a button on the opposite side of the screen lights up as if I pressed on y. I don't have these problems with my new droid.

    d. the blackberry only gives you quick access to material internal. I understand the security concepts but droid can do and maintain security.

    2. the differences between the blackberry and the droid 2 are just night and day. I am surprised every time function and response. The droid 2 just leave the blackberry storm in the dust. If I didn't know any better, I would say that Blackberry is out of the phone business. They might as well give up now.

    3. I suggest that RIM or leverage in QNX (which is a very nice RTOS), or implement an android phone that is clean and add to the cool, rather than harm to this.

Good luck and I'm disappointed, but I gave Blackberry a fair shake. They just don't cut.

I am a developer too and I reached a relatively high level in the developer for blackberry forum.

    I develop for android now.

    I had a storm 1.

    I kept the software updated.

I'm a software engineer, so he was not a user error.

The droid 2 is about the same size as the blackberry storm, so the comment about 2 x 4 is . The droid is very nice to use as a phone... and I could hear a pin drop. The speaker is also very good.

My comments are not opinion. They are done. I have described specific things that happened with my phone. I don't see how the Storm 2 would be different. That he could call ability (note that I couldn't keep my storm in my ear that I had to make a decent call in speakerphone mode). It could also have the location of the most reliable touchscreen. However, it would still have other issues. And blackberry connect this droid 2. User experience everything is so nice and so natural to feel that I am very surprised. I was expecting it to be different, but not that good. It really is like night and day. If you have not used a droid. Find a friend with one and ask to swap the phones for a day or to spend an hour with her. It will blow you away. It's so nice.

Yes, these discussions can be like religions. I agree with that, but I've always been a fan of blackberry. I gave him a fair shot. I'm afraid that's not a fair opinion. My droid 2 is VASTLY superior to my blackberry storm... This isn't a fair opinion.

Finally, I acknowledge that by limiting the use, the blackberry is a tad safer, and the android OS is open to virus and security issues. However, if you buy a specific device with a certified operating system, do not install an application not certified, you will be safe. Yes, it is possible for someone to write an application that is not secure for the droid and to sell or to give it for free through an unusual channel, but this is a user error. A talented person could do the same for the blackberry. I could do this using assembler arm and points in the start-up code for an application. I have to waste his time to understand the appropriate addresses, but thanks to the knowledge of the means chip I could do if I wanted to waste a lot of time. It is I don't have time to lose... Then the verdict here is that security is really up to the habits of the user. It is easier to hit a virus by mistake on a droid on a blackberry, but it's pretty rare... rare enough to not make a difference for me. Now for applications sensitive military and policies (such as the phones of the President), then it makes more sense to use a blackberry.

    Peace

  • BlackBerry smartphones restore Conact on the new curve using back to the top of the old

My wifes 3G curve died this weekend and she's getting her a new today. I was wonding if I can restore its contacts (address book and BBM) through the switch device Wizard in Office Manager?

If it is 'dead' as you say it and does not turn on, it'll be pretty hard using the switch device Wizard. However, this method is ideal.

Now, she a recent backup of the old device, it would have done using the Desktop software or she uses her BlackBerry Protect on his old device?

If it has a backup, it can use Desktop software > device > restore and the system should select the most recent backup, or you can perform a search to find and set it to restore it on the new device, all contacts, messages, calendar, etc.

  • BlackBerry Smartphones can send/receive emails via my blackberry curve

Hi I'm new to this forum and am not a user, even if were using a older Bay to work emails for the last 3 years; just got this new bberry lcurve ess than a month ago at best buy and they have set up to receive emails from my 2 separate and personal Treaty, no email work. It worked great until today about 05:20 Pacific when my last GSM 2 I sent were stuck and marked with a red 'x'. The last email I received was 05:08 and none after that.  I can receive/send emails normally via the portable and desktop.  I even checked the billing, and I'm not behind in payments. I was frustrated that I couldn't find any online help desk, so I hope a good person kindly help me to solve this problem.  Thank you!

What is your service indicator in the upper right?

Also have you tried pulling the battery and put it back?

  • BlackBerry smartphones can not receive emails and browsing!

Juice I activated my blackberry services, a few days before, I can e-mail sent through my bb, but I can't receive mails through my bb... I n don't know wat happnd! as as I do hav navigation but I cannot see the maps or vision satellite of the Earth in the navigation of bb application, its just like a blankpage!

    Hello!!

I suggest the following, in order, even if they seem redundant to what you have already tried (steps 1 and 2, each should result in a message to your BB to come...) Please wait for this before moving on to the next step):

    (1) registry HRT

    • KB00510 How to register a BlackBerry smartphone with wireless network

    (2) remove and return Service directories

    • KB05000 Remove the maintenance book for the BlackBerry Internet Service email account in the BlackBerry smartphone
    • KB02830 Send the directories for the BlackBerry Internet Service

    (3) restart to take batt

    • Each time a random strange behavior or slow creeps, the first thing to do is a battery pop reboot. With power ON, remove the hood back and remove the battery. Wait a minute, then replace the battery and cover. Power on and wait patiently through the long reboot - about 5 minutes. See if things return to functioning. Like all computing devices, BB suffers from memory leaks and others... with a hard reboot is the best remedy.

I hope that will move things again for you! If this isn't the case, then you should talk to your provider of mobile services for formal support.

    Good luck!

  • BlackBerry Smartphones has stopped receiving e-mail messages

I have a Blackberry Curve 8300 and my ISP is earthlink.net. Everything works fine until today, when I stopped to receive e-mails on my Blackberry. I just checked, and I can send messages very well, of course, but do not receive them.

Hmmm... I suggest a number of things. First of all, a restart:

With power ON, remove the hood back and remove the battery. Wait a minute, then replace the battery and cover. Power on and wait patiently through the long reboot - about 5 minutes. See if things return to functioning.

If that fails, then try to send your service books:

Give a try and let us know.

  • BlackBerry smartphones where can suggest us new things for Yahoo Messenger and other RIM IM clients?

I just downloaded the new version of Yahoo Messenger and I like the user interface. But whenever a new version comes out, this application creates a less complete story of contact behavior. There are several versions the contact's status appeared in the open conversation, as well as of the timestamp, the date on which the status. This includes Idle and Custom state changes. Who has disappeared. In the latest version, we could see the time the contact signed in or out last and sometimes both. Now they are gone as soon as you close the conversation.

The idea of having Yahoo until on the BlackBerry all the time, it's that you don't have to be staring at the screen all the time, you should be able to come out of your pocket and find the events that took place that does not trigger alarms. I would like to that story all contact to be there, as long as I want to keep active. How can I make this suggestion to RIM for the next version of Yahoo Messenger? Thank you.

Alternatively, you can send your suggestions to [email protected]

  • BlackBerry Smartphones do not receive emails after re - install

I did a "full backup" on Wednesday night.

Thursday I went to the center of the ATT device and they gave me a new phone because my trackball does not work (the problem was with my memory card, which the store should not have sent me to the center of the device, but that is another problem).

    So, I restored the backup.

Now, I'm not getting emails on my phone.

In addition, I did not know that applications would not be saved. Is it possible to backup applications? I spent hours reinstalling applications. I didn't even have a list, so I don't know what is missing.

Well, the BB acknowledged that it was another phone. I went into Setup BlackBerry / personal email set in place and he asked if I wanted to recognize a different axis. When I answered in the affirmative, he guided me through my password for my email accounts. He sends confirmation emails, and all have been received (one for each of three email accounts I used).

I'm always reinstall applications, but at least I'm getting emails now.

  • BlackBerry Smartphones type in Japanese on a CURVE 9320

Can someone tell me if it is possible to write emails in Japanese language on a BB CURVE 9320? If so, how?

I recently bought a BB CURVE 9320 and software, although able to display Japanese characters in an e-mail, does not allow typing in the Japanese language. I checked a lot of device software revisions, but the Japanese never shows in the language selection list.

    Thanks for the help!

Hello and welcome to the community!

    Please read carefully this KB:

    • KB05305 Location of support for BlackBerry smartphones

The ability to use for different purposes, different languages on a BB is a function of having the right OS package installed for BB. This details KB on the complexities of achieving what you desire. Once you determine, based on all the factors, the package of operating system that you need, you would seek it through this Portal:

Before continuing, please visit this thread to make sure that you have a good backup so that you can properly restore everything as you go along:

If a package which, by the KB above, should understand that need you then you must install this package of system operating for your BB. From a PC, you can install any compatible OS package (for example, for your BB model exact number) of a BB via this procedure:

Note Although written to "recharge" and the storm, it can be used to upgrade, downgrade or recharge any BB device model - depends on the operating system package you download and install on your PC. If this OS package comes from one carrier other carrier for which your BB was built, then remove, on your PC, all copies of the SELLER. XML... There will be at least one and maybe 2, and they will be located in the same way or to (it changes based on your version of Windows) these files:

    • C:\Program Files (x 86) \Common Files\Research In Motion\AppLoader
    • C:\Users\(your Windows username) \AppData\Roaming\Research In Motion\BlackBerry\Loader XML

Don't forget that you remove, since your PC, any other BB OS devices as packages with more than one installed on the PC can cause conflicts with this procedure.

Good luck and let us know!

  • BlackBerry smartphones can not receive my emails...

I had my phone smart blackberry 8330 configured to receive my emails when I got it. It worked very well, reception of e-mail and everything, then suddenly today I have received a few saying e-mail that I needed to update my password and I get emails before. I went to internet services and put to update the password that it has been a success. When I went to save my account information, he said something along the lines of my email account information is not valid and I still don't receive emails. If someone could help me understand what would be so awesome.

Nevermind, apparently just remove the one that would not be validated and just re-add the same email address are now allowing it to work.

  • BlackBerry smartphone WiFi help for a new user

    Hello

I'm all new to Blackberry and have had the beautiful curve for 3 days (it is always brilliant)!

I managed to synchronize with the desktop computer, to connect to my car for handfree Bluetooth, but I can't connect to my router wireless BT Home Hub for some reason any.

I followed the instructions and the phone displays the connection and says it is connected but does not work.  If I go on manage connections, it shows the connection (I called him 'home') with a nice green icon showing the phone can see wifi but there is a black box in front of it with a dash of white.

    Anyone got any ideas?

I'm not via enterprise server yet (need to upgrade to Lotus notes apparently).  I phoned also support technique of Vodafone that says I need a subscription to use wifi which, when I questioned our vodafone business account manager he said was silly.  But still no wifi.

There is also a wifi logo top right of my screen which shows is gray and black, that mean anything?

    Thanks much for any help.

Tim (a bit frustrated but still in love with my curve).

It's settled.  Apparently, vodafone to fix something in the number to make it work...
