  • BlackBerry Smartphones looking for backup file BlackBerry IPD Category Descriptions

    Hello world

For the life of me. I can't seem to find the list of category descriptions listed in a *. IPD backup file.

What I basically want to do, is to isolate the sound patterns (alerts) and * NOT * have the backup file wipe out the original default patterns that are loaded with a clean installation of the BlackBerry Device Software.  Also, that the list description would come very handy for future restorations!

Thanks in advance to anyone who can point me in the right direction.

    Thank you!

Hi and welcome to the Forums!

Hmmm... Category descriptions... I'm not quite positive which is... maybe it's databases? If so, here's a knockout that lists those:

    • KB03974 List of all databases on the BlackBerry smartphone

I'm guessing that your tent a selective restore of certain databases rather than restore complete. What happens, however, is the replacement of the complete database indeed... regardless of the database that is located on the device is is replaced by what is in the IPD file. For some databases, there are tricks to merge the data that can be undertaken - for most messages, calendar, contacts and tasks... 'the organizer' standard databases, but I don't know the method to merge the databases of configuration (as well as alert profiles).

    Good luck!

Have you tried and went to accept via Bluetooth? Some of the older software on the BBS, you need to go to the media file and say accept via Bluetooth. Consider the two features are already paired.

  • Help blackBerry Smartphones! the hidden files/pictures, tried to explore but without success!

I created a few files containing images in my photo camera and selected so that these records be hidden. The images themselves of these hidden folders were always in my folder images in 'media' so I hid each image as well. I have read other suggestions to go explore and then selecting the option "Show hidden" and what I have hidden NOTHING will appear. Hidden folders do not appear, nor the individual hidden images. I've looked everywhere. Help, please! Thank you.

Well, I tried to reproduce what you were doing. For me, it works exactly as it should:

    1. I created a folder on my map of media, called 'test '.
    2. I put a picture in this folder
    3. I hid the image
    4. I then hid the folder
    5. Without 'Show hidden', the folder does not appear
    6. With 'Show hidden', the folder will appear greyed out, and I can bring up its properties and display it
    7. Once the folder is not hidden, I can then navigate inside, then, seeing the photo file greyed, I can also display

So I don't quite know why it does not work in your case... not my not adequately replicate what you did?

  • BlackBerry Smartphones view hidden pictures

OK, I have pictures that I don't want to see people who can get their hands on my phone.  So I've highlighted a particular photo and press the 'menu', then 'properties', and then I checked the box that says "hidden".  Now I can't find it!  I called technical support and no one can seem to understand where the image goes once hide you it.  It is of course always the phone somewhere since I'm deleting it.  I found a way to better hiding just the folder, but now I want my picture to return! Does anyone know how to unmask saved or to make visible once that they were hidden?

Use the following steps to get to a photo that you've hidden:

    Exploration of the media

    1. in the media application, press the Menu key.
    2. click on explore.
    3. navigate to a folder that contains media files.
    5. press the Menu key.
    6. click on Show Hidden.

Once hidden photos are displayed, scroll to them and go to properties and change the hidden value.

I think a better way to do this would be to put all the pictures you do not want seen in a folder by themselves and then go to Media options and deselect this folder to be seen.

    Good luck!

  • BlackBerry Smartphones "Cannot access local files" error when syncing with Outlook

I have an old BlackBerry Bold 9780 which works well. However, just yesterday, I started getting a "Cannot access local files" error when you try to use BB Desktop to synchronize with Microsoft Outlook 2016. I uninstalled and reinstalled the BlackBerry Desktop Software 7.1, but the problem persists. There is no error when using Outlook or other aspects of synchronization in BB Desktop.

I am running 64-bit Windows 10 on my desktop computer. I got no synchronization issues in the past until yesterday. To my knowledge, nothing has changed.

A Google search for the error message returns questions posted on several different forums, but there is no clear solution given.

The problem seems to be in Outlook, rather than with the BlackBerry Desktop, at least in my case. I solved it by repairing my Microsoft Office installation. For most versions of Office, this is accomplished by going to the list of programs installed in the Control Panel, highlight and right-click on the desktop and select the option to repair or change.

  • BlackBerry Smartphones download MS word files

I have a BB 8830 and want to download some of my files my computer Word. I am able to download the photos with Roxio Media manager, but it seems that the media manager doesn't manage the apps Word.

    Thank you.

The BlackBerry smart phone has not a viewer of Word files on it. You can attach the file to an e-mail, but that's all. You must have a third-party program to view or edit the file. There is a program called DynoPlex eOffice that allows you to edit and view word files. Also, if you just want to view the files, check out a program called BeamBerry.

There is no separate icon for the microSD memory card.

  • Memory card using blackBerry Smartphones - cannot display the file

I have a 8130 with software v 4.3.0.97. I installeed and formatted a 2 GB Sandisk Micro SD card Media settings are the following:

    Media card support: WE

    Encryption mode: NO

    Mass storage Mode support: WE

Auto enable mass storage Mode when connected: YES

With the help of the Explorer Windows and TDM I transferred music, photos and files to the card. Music plays very well. I can see the photos. But whenever I click on a Word doc to open it, I get this message: unable to display file/media card/Blackberry/filename.doc

    What I am doing wrong?

    ETA:

I need a third-party application to open these documents. I downloaded Mobipocket Reader on my PC, the program recognized a downloaded a player for BB. I have imported the Word documents and can now read on the BB. Yayee!

    Nice taken,

    Please address the position,

So, I downloaded a file of ringtone on a link that was sent to my phone (theme of Top Chef, I'm a geek.). I got an error message that says something could not be considered and I hit OK and from there, I was asked if I wanted to save the file. I said yes and the file shown as having been downloaded on the map of support, but now I can't find anywhere. Where at - it go? I tried to access the link again, but he said "You have already downloaded this file." Man! Help, please.
