BlackBerry Smartphones sell my BB 8120, what precautions should I take

Is it safe to leave your Sim Card in the phone when it is windy?

This BB is CBW Cincinnati Bell Wireless network.

Will it work on other networks?

Thanks in advance, Pete

No, remove the SIM card. Keep it or trash. You may have a few contacts saved on it or whatever, but it is not required by the new owner independently.

1. before to sell, ask your CBW operator to remove the PIN code of your BIS account. Otherwise, it will not be usable for another user.

2 make a backup of your old device using Desktop Manager. You never know when you might need this data.

3 do a wipe on the device options > Security > General settings > wipe Handheld.

I'm new to smartphones and Blackberry. I got one at my new job. I charged all night and I now can't seem to see my emails. The Red led lights up for a few seconds and then there is a pause, then a very small hourglass on the screen and the light around the touch pad.  None of the buttons are sensitive.  Can someone tell me what to do to participate? I went to the blackberry, demos manuals, but nothing is in it. I'm not very tech savvy either.  Thank you.

Perform a simple reboot on the BlackBerry this way: with smart BlackBerry poweredphone, remove the battery for a minute and then reinsert the battery to restart. A reboot in this manner is prescribed for most defects and errors of operating system, and you will lose any data on the device doing so.

  • BlackBerry smartphones is my renovated 8120 one false, it is not wrong to looks, but provider cannot do the work!

    Hello community,

Bought a Pearl 8120 for my wife. I thought it was a refurbisehd one.

Calls and receives OK, accepted new themes, etc. Even browse the web!

Thing is that it's always with "gprs" in lowercase letters instead of caps "GPRS".

The wife subscribed mail Vodafone BB plan, and then started badly.

Vodafone now says it's not a real BB.

Y at - it a database where I can check the PIN/IMEI numbers on my device?

all inside stickers (even the made in Hungary) authentic look and the IMEI /PIN on the stickers match the software.

Seller told to request a new PIN for the provider! is this possible?

    Thanks to you all.

    Mike

Mike, Hello and welcome to the Forums of Support BlackBerry.com.

The device PIN is assigned to every BlackBerry and can not be changed or varied. It is hardcoded for each device. Without getting a new one, unless you get a new device. Seller is stupid.

So do: call your carrier and have them climb your call to a RIM tech support specialist. Asked specifically IF your PIN and IMEI code have been suspended or banned. It is made for devices reported lost or stolen. If this is the case, you cannot resume it.

At this point, you should return your device to the seller and get your money back as a non-working device. Because it is not.

  • Questions of blackBerry Smartphones has a few 8120

Is there a way to set my 8120 to auto answer when it is connected to a bluetooth headset? Also is there a way to automatically re - lock the phone after an incoming call? I had these features on my previous phone which was a Nokia flip and cannot imagine that my BB which is a does' far superior phone nt have them. I got my Nokia set to answer after 2 rings, then it would be to relock the keyboard once the call ends if the locking of the keyboard, I had originally.

Not answer automatically to your Bluetooth headset, sorry.

You can set to autoanswer appealed when removed from the case.

To block the device after a phone call ends, just activate a password on the BlackBerry (Options > Security) it will relock after your set timeout.

  • BlackBerry Smartphones can someone tell me what is this icon?

I have the new Style, just got it 3 days ago and I'm still learning... it's my first smartphone...

The icon is just below my signal icon and a telephone receiver (the receiver is put down) with an arrow hitting and bounces off. I have no idea of what it is and cannot find it on other forums... someone has seen this before? He is not one of the icons of calls missed, placed or received...

If it's exactly under the 1XEV, no worries is a normal display of the CDMA signal, you get used to it.

The GSM signal display does not show this icon only 3G or EDGE.

  • Applications for blackBerry Smartphones available for Curve 9360 - what URL can they be addressed via a PC?

I can't find a page where I can see comfortably, on my PC, the applications available for BB Curve 9360 on the BB site.

(From p. \Apps home I get to a list of devices, where I find the curve, but when I click it, I sent again to the homepage!)

Please, let me know the URL where I am sure they are, even if I can't find it by myself.

    Hello

If, by 'apps', you mean these natively included in OS package, while it's complicated... There are a variety of basic applications, but each company is free to "Pack" the package of core OS with their network-specific things or they chose to push their customers.

If, by 'apps', you hear the module and 3rd party applications that the user chooses to download, then there are a variety of resources:

Each of them works differently, so it is quite difficult to provide detailed instructions for each.

    Good luck!

  • BlackBerry Smartphones can someone tell me what is this icon of the home/notification screen? For a curve 9300

It's on my home screen, as the right, under the time. It seems to be a white envelope with a black circle on it. If you could just tell me what it is, would be great! Thank you!

I think it is that you have an available software update.

the notification must be in your messages / emails, use the same icon.

  • BlackBerry smartphones I don't know what's the problem with him.

Right, it's my first blackberry. Now, I've had for about a month now, and ubertwitter & app world worked very well. Last night, ubertwitter randomly decides to tell me "Network Exception trying to communicate with the service Twitter". I'm quite stupid when it comes to these things, and google does not help me much. So I thought, well I'll just reinstall it.

Then App World decides to say "upgrade your service to a plan that includes browsing... "and tells me to contact my ISP. Now, I don't feel like calling India atm (I'm on 3UK), but I also know that I have a plan about me do anything, because I was able to access both for the months past. I never went over the use of the data because of this.

    Any help will be appreciated

There was a thread that I was helping out with previously who had something similar happen. There is the person should communicate with its carrier b/c a maintenance book has been away on their BlackBerry.

So to confirm your watch 3G or EDGE signal? If you go in manage connections | "" The service state is say it is connected via the mobile network "BlackBerry Internet Service"? You can try resending service books to your device in 2 ways:

    1. Connect to the BIS of your operator and go site in the section Service books. There you should see a button to send the service directories
    2. On the BlackBerry, go to Options | Advanced options | The host routing table. In this screen press press the button menu and choose to register now. See if you get a message to record a few seconds later. Then try to reset your device by removing the battery for 30 seconds
  • BlackBerry smartphones, I don't know what this icon on my new BB, please help!

I just got my curve today and I love it, but I don't know what means the a icon on the main screen. It's a small globe, and next to it there are a number. I guess it's sort of a new message, but I can't understand it. Thank you very much.

Blue round globe? Browser or Wap message. It should show in the list of messages, but if not, look at Messages > Menu button > view folders > Browser or Wap messages.

Open or delete the message to delete the icon.

  • BlackBerry smartphones my 9700 coming today, what is the best way to transfer contacts from 8320?

    Hi all

I have a new Bold 9700 from t-mobile, who arrive today. I have about 300 contacts in the address book on my Curve 8320, also have a group containing more than 100 contacts that I use for SMS to the group. I asked the representative of t-mobile, how do I transfer contacts from the curve on the "BOLD" and she told me if they are on the sim card, then they will be on the new phone. It will take me a long time to save all contacts on the sim card, and I'll lose some e-mail addresses and other notes.

The Curve 8320 running OS v4.5.0.81, I guess that the "BOLD" will have a flavor of 5.0.

    1. Can I use the device switch Wizard to transfer the contacts from the Curve 8320 the Bold 9700?
    2. If #1 is Yes, the group will transfer more also or should I create a new group and add contacts?
    3. I'll be able to transfer 3rd party applications or is it better to re - download and install fresh for the "BOLD"? A single application that I'm worried about is "SmartAlerts", I had to pay for the full version of this app.

I was wondering how much work/time I should be doing tonight, and if anyone has any advice for making the transfer to the new device. I'm happy to get rid of this trackball!

    Thank you!

    1. Yes, use the SDW (I would also FIRST do a full backup using the Desktop Manager > backup, just for the heck of it).

    2. Yes, it will be.

    3. Yes, they * need. You need to activation or registration for all purchased apps code, once you're running on the 9700. Depending on where you bought this app (mobihand.com uses a process of change of PIN code on their site, AppWorld should recognize the PIN change), but the process can vary depending on the application and where you bought from.

    * You can do another (which I recommend) backup of your third-party applications by following the instructions here: http://www.blackberryforums.com/aftermarket-software/91912-how-backup-restore-all-installed-3rd-part...

Vista and Windows 7 updated drivers love then here's how update the most important.

This is my generic how updates of appropriate driver:

This utility, it is easy see which versions are loaded:

-Free - DriverView utility displays the list of all device drivers currently loaded on your system.
For each driver in the list, additional useful information is displayed: load address of the driver,
Description, version, product name, company that created the driver and more.
    http://www.NirSoft.NET/utils/DriverView.html

For drivers, visit manufacturer of emergency system and of the manufacturer of the device that are the most common.
Control Panel - device - Graphics Manager - note the brand and complete model
your video card - double - tab of the driver - write version information. Now, click on update
Driver (this can do nothing as MS is far behind the certification of drivers) - then right-click.
Uninstall - REBOOT it will refresh the driver stack.

Repeat this for network - card (NIC), Wifi network, sound, mouse, and keyboard if 3rd party
with their own software and drivers and all other main drivers that you have.

Now in the system manufacturer (Dell, HP, Toshiba as examples) site (in a restaurant), peripheral
Site of the manufacturer (Realtek, Intel, Nvidia, ATI, for example) and get their latest versions. (Look for
BIOS, Chipset and software updates on the site of the manufacturer of the system here.)

Download - SAVE - go to where you put them - right click - RUN AD ADMIN - REBOOT after
    each installation.

Always check in the Device Manager - drivers tab to be sure the version you actually install
presents itself. This is because some restore drivers before the most recent is installed (sound card drivers
in particular that) so to install a driver - reboot - check that it is installed and repeat as
    necessary.

Repeat to the manufacturers - BTW in the DO NOT RUN THEIR SCANNER device - check
    manually by model.

Look at the sites of the manufacturer for drivers - and the manufacturer of the device manually.

If you update the drivers manually, then it's a good idea to disable the facilities of driver under Windows
Updates, that leaves about Windows updates but it will not install the drivers that will be generally
older and cause problems. If updates offers a new driver and then HIDE it (right click on it), then
get new manually if you wish.
