BlackBerry Storm Smartphone Internet browser issues

I use a Blackberry Storm with a Verizon data plan.

My phone is able to connect to my email server and works very well in this regard.  I can also use the Opera browser to browse the internet without fail.

Problems arise whenever I try to navigate with the default browser.  If I click on a bookmark saved on my home page, and then I am able to navigate successfully to the bookmark url.  However, I can never establish a connection every time I enter a url on my own, or do a google/wikipedia search, etc...

So, basically, I can't navigate with my default blackberry internet browser.

I already tried this troubleshooting:

historic compensation and cache, doing resets from phone, deactivation and reactivation of the RF connection... still nothing is helping.

Without leaving the browser, I can still click on a bookmark and the internet works, however, whenever I enter a url or a search on the home page item, the browser fails and gives me the following message is displayed:

"A communication failure has occurred with the chosen Mobile Data Service.  The server may be busy, please try again later.  If the problem persists, contact your administrator.

Any help would be GREATLY appreciated!

It's easy: in the options of the browser, set the default browser as "Internet browser" instead of "Blackberry Browser".

  • BlackBerry Blackberry Storm Smartphones - does not light (red light)

    Hi all

Recently, I dug my Blackberry Storm out of his box and tried to use it again. Unfortunately, it not light.

I can plug it into my computer (Mac) and the red light comes on. He will stay on until I open the Blackberry Desktop Manager how the phone starts a cycle of rebooting. Every now and then it stops on a symbol of the battery with a slash through it (are there no battery in the phone), but the second, I try to connect to it via the Blackberry software it restarts again.

I tried the JML encoder or whatever his program called and every time it tries to connect to the phone, the phone restarts.

This is as far as I know:

    Carrier: Verizon

    Phone: Blackberry Storm (to 2008)

    Computer: Mac

Program: Blackberry Desktop Software 2.4.0 (Build 17)

My phone is out of warranty and since he began to send me in trouble in 2009 I switched to Android. I've never had a problem with Android, so I forgot to go back and see what was wrong with my Blackberry. I hope someone can help out me. I can't really 'take to verizon' because their solution is swap out today just for a working one, but since it's out of contract. / warranty, they will tell you simply throw me. I live in Los Angeles, perhaps someone someone actually knows phones Blackberry of PATCHES. I know it's a new idea.

Thanks, I hope someone can help!

In your situation, a 507 is actually a good thing... 507 means that the BB has no OS installed in it, but at least it turn on now.

I don't know how do to recover it through MAC... all of the stuff I know applies to the PC. You might find some MAC-specific help in our MAC-specific forum:

    • supportforums.BlackBerry.com/T5/Desktop-Software-for-Mac/BD-p/blackberryformac

Everything what I've heard, none of the stuff to get over this is for MAC, so if you have access to a Windows PC, you can perform the following procedure, which removes as "automatic" search/download OS that fails on your MAC and replace it with what you control:

    1) uninstall all the BB OS packages from your PC,

    (2) make sure you have the BB Desktop Software already installed

    (3) download and install to your PC, the BB OS package you want:

    4) remove, on your PC, all copies of the SELLER. XML... There will be at least one and maybe 2, and they will be located in the same way or to (it changes based on your version of Windows) these files:

    • C:\Program Files (x 86) \Common Files\Research In Motion\AppLoader
    • C:\Users\(your Windows username) \AppData\Roaming\Research In Motion\BlackBerry\Loader XML

    (5) run the Desktop software and connect your BB... the software should offer the operating system package you have installed on your PC. If, during the process, your BB votre BB a '507' error, simply unplug the power cord of the BB USB and reinsert it. do nothing else... This should allow the installation to continue.

  • BlackBerry Storm Smartphone Versions and Java Support

    Hi all

According to the information on the Web on Blackberry storm, they only have one 9530 version. Searching on the forums I could see some people talking about 9500 also, see info here. Now we only have one version now? Please correct my understanding.

According to the information I have the Blackberry storm is released with Vodafone and Verizon. Vodafone is based GSM and Verizon CDMA based. So I guess that the storm supports both GSM and CDMA.

It may be a silly question but still I ask. As devices based CDMA based generally Brew, I had a doubt, that where we have two versions of the storm, both supported by Java. As we develop applications using JDE4.7 will work on both versions.

Please correct my understanding and provide information.

    Best regards

    Sandeep

    Hello

the storm has two features: 9500 and 9530.
    9530 = 9500 + CDMA

I use now a 9530 in France, where there is no CDMA. It is then exactly as if I had a 9500.

Modern BlackBerry devices (with trackball or a touch screen) have an operating system that is made up of Java (and), as well as applications can be developed in Java for BlackBerry. You can find valuable information by clicking on the "DEVELOPERS" link at the top of this page.

Java applets are not supported by the browser.

Be careful which JDK you are using for your development.

    Reviewing Xandrex...

I just installed it on my device.

Here is the list of what I can add to the quick launch menu:

    Standard applications :

    • Add Camera
    • Add video camera
    • Add Call Log Erase

    • Add info on the device
    • Add Bluetooth Config
    • Add some Options of BB
    • Add the calendar
    • Add BB Maps
    • Add Contacts
    • Add to the event log

    Hyperlinks :

    • Add phone call (can type a phone number or choose from the list of Contacts)
    • Add Email (can type an e-mail address or choose from the list of Contacts)
    • Add SMS (can type a number of mobile, to choose amongst the list of contacts)
    • Add file (Image, Audio, Video, etc.)

Applications that can be selected :

    • net_rim_bb_qm_google---> (perhaps GoogleTalk) causes "Eception Exception: DSC: duplicate Sync Collection.
    • net_rim_bb_messagin_app (app Messages)
    • net_rim_phone_app (phone application)

    Pros :

    • It is an application very well for common applications & access
    • You can assign it to a side convenience key
    • You can change the order of items in the list
    • cheap

Disadvantages : all applications installed on the device can not be selected.

    Final thoughts :

    • I would have preferred to be able to open the keyboard and VLingo. Because of two, I can't use the application until I used to manipulate the storm differently.
    • I hope that there will be updates that I'll be able to download without paying a second time.

  • BlackBerry Smartphone Internet browser works is not on my 9700.

Out of the blue today my browser just stopped working.  My camera no longer works.  Tried the camera in case of problems and managed to make it work temporarily by putting my finger in front of the flash but that only allowed me to take black pictures so I think that the lens is struck down.  I can't live without the camera.

But I can't live without the browser.  I get the message unable to connect to the internet please try again later

I can always download fromblackberry app world apps, play the music of my apps, use applications.  receive email, bb messenger works. Send SMS etc. I can connect via wifi or network.

I tried to clean the cache, make the diagnosis of the mobile network, battery pull.  running out of ideas

Hello and welcome to the community!

There is a current major outage... official information are available here:

From my experience, this affects BIS, BES and all services that depend on those (BBM, email, AppWorld, web browsing, application access to the data from the internet, etc.). Troubleshooting specific issues during this interruption may be unnecessary.

Once the fault clears, if things are not yet flowing for you, try the following steps:

    (1) registry HRT

    • Homescreen > Options > Advanced Options > host Routing Table > (it matter little what line is current) > sign up now

    (2) Service reference books

    • KB02830 Send the directories for the BlackBerry Internet Service

    (3) restart to take batt

    • Each time a random strange behavior or slow creeps, the first thing to do is a battery pop reboot. With power ON, remove the hood back and remove the battery. Wait a minute, then replace the battery and cover. Power on and wait patiently through the long reboot - about 5 minutes. See if things return to functioning. Like all computing devices, BB suffers from memory leaks and others... with a hard reboot is the best remedy.

I hope that will move things again for you!

    See you soon!

  • BlackBerry Smartphones BlackBerry Storm - lost the browser!

I just bought a new BlackBerry two days ago.  I just noticed that I lost the browser sometimes today.  I loaded BlackBerry Desktop Manager this afternoon and I'm doing it to add the browser on my BlackBerry but it does not either.  What can I do to recover my browser?

My cell phone (including the internet) service is with Verizon

    Hello

Let's all start, helps ensure that the browser is actually installed on your device (I'd be shocked if it's not).  Go to Options > Advanced Options > Applications and making sure that it is in the list.  If this isn't the case, please let us know.

Then, take a look in the upper right of the phone in the home screen.  She said that he: 1XEV or 1xev (or even 1 x)?  If it does not say 1XEV, you experience a problem with your connection.  Contact Verizon as they may need to check something on your end.  And while you have them on the phone, ask them to return the directories of service for you.  My recommendation is to do it from another phone as they need you to do things on the phone while talking with them.  When you call, just ask support BlackBerry and they should be able to help without problem.  They also probably re - register your phone on the network, then you can try it now if you wish.  Go to Options > Advanced Options > Tables host routing, then press the BB menu button and select Save now.

Good luck and I hope that gets you operational.  Let us know how things are going and how we can help more if you need .

  • Browser blackBerry storm Smartphones will not change views?

    Hey,.

I had my storm for a few weeks.  Out of nowhere, just today, the browser is locked in landscape mode.  Whenever I turn it on it remains in the same position, even if I flip to landscape the opposite effect.  He is stuck in the same position.  My accelerometer works well because the menu, messages, e-mails, etc. all change view very well.  Someone knows how to fix this? It's really annoying.  I usually use the portrait for web browsing, anyway.

    Hello

I think you can try two things: the soft reboot, and if it does not, the hard reboot. Don't worry, you can not lose data with these two reboots.

    Soft reboot:
    1) struck the following three keys at the same time:
    -Alt
    -Left shift
    -Remove
    (2) wait 2 minutes for the Blackberry to wake up.

    Hard reboot:
    (1) your BlackBerry smart phone is on
    (2) remove the battery and wait a minute
    (3) replace the battery
    (4) wait 5 minutes for the device to wake up.

Please tell us if it works for you.

  • BlackBerry Smartphones Internet browser does not

When I open no matter what browser (Browser Hotspot using wifi or MediaNet jump 3G) can't do the pages to load. It just says: 'Loading' at the bottom of the page with no blue progress bar, and the page is completely white. He started just doing this for me about a day ago, any help would be greatly appreciated.

If it can, I get always all my emails and my facebook application works very well and I guess that these two would go on the internet, so it must be in the browser, but I don't know what to do, any help would be appreciated.

    Thank you!

Have you tried to reset your device by removing the battery? If it does not do.

  • BlackBerry Storm Smartphones with Apple IMAC

the storm has issues compatible with the IMAC?  I downloaded PocketMac and when I have my storm inside USB does not charge but no other recognition device.  If anyone can help?  Thank you.

It is madness. We have to pay for software to sync with a mac, I'd maybe willing to drop money if the blackberry did not have it on their site, in the software section.

and to make it worse, we have counselors on the official forums bberry almost looking down people who do not have a PC or want to use boot camp and told him to find a friend. Quite disappointed with the way things are going so far. He gave only a few months, but I thought complaints would be strictly phone interface problems, NOT something as silly that synchronize my calendar database files, notes and media.

    -sal

P.S..there is actually a PATCH file that can be downloaded, good luck and if you are not happy. pay money for a program that should be using bberry.

    BlackBerry for Mac

If you are a Mac user, it's easy for you to take full advantage of BlackBerry® smartphone *. PocketMac® for BlackBerry allows you to load new applications on your BlackBerry smartphone, as well as synchronize your emails, contacts, calendar, tasks and notes with popular Mac applications, including:

    • Email from mail.app
    • Notes, Contacts, calendar, tasks and email Entourage®
    • Address Book Contacts
    • iCal® calendar and tasks
    • Now up-to-date Contact® / Now® Contacts, calendars & tasks
    • Meeting Maker Contacts, calendar and tasks
    • Lotus Notes Contacts, calendar and tasks
    • Safari bookmarks (one-way synchronization)
  • BlackBerry Storm Smartphone keyboard does not

So here's my problem: my keypad does not work. When I push a number nothing happens. The works of 0 and when I hold down the 1 goes to voicemail. When he goes to voicemail, however, where the numbers should be there are letters. If I have someone in my contacts, I can call but I can't dial their number. Everything else on the phone works. Email, SMS and browser all work to them. It is only the most basic function that will not work. I called Verizon and they helped me to restore and then an update, but that did not help. I went to the Verizon store and they said that all they can do is a clean cloth and restoration, the same thing I did over the phone. I then took it to Cell Phone Repair (CPR). They said that they have never seen him. And if they have ever seen, then it must be really screwed. Help, please!

    Hello

I assume that you have already performed a traction battery without effect, correct? If this is the case, then I'll recommend a more radical action.

First of all, start by saving the information on the device using the BlackBerry Desktop Software and then disconnect your phone from your computer. Then, download and install the operating system on your computer from here: http://vzw.smithmicro.com/blackberry/download.aspx.

Once you have your operating system installed on your computer, download and install a program called BBSAK from http://bbsak.org. After installing the program, plug your phone and open BBSAK. When you are prompted, type your BlackBerry password (if you do not have a password, just press ok). The PIN of your BlackBerry should then display to BBSAK. At this point, click Wipe Device. This will delete all data and the operating system of your phone and must leave an error 507 on your phone. Then, click Load OS. Now, this will open the file from the BlackBerry charger that allows you to reload the OS of your storm. Just follow the steps and then once your storm has restarted, you can open the BlackBerry Desktop Software, and restore your data. If you want to be really sure, just do a selective restore of the info that you need (messages, contacts, calendar, etc.). That you will protect, just in case the problem is in part due to a bad database.

You should now be back running. If not, let me know, but if it's a software related issue, this should solve the problem.  As a final note, this will remove also all your third party apps, you'll then need to re-download those.  If you can, however, delay on that until you know for some that the problem has disappeared.
