Device current s/w is 4.2, and I'm moving to 4.5, but via the website (BB), I get "no updates available".   You should try the manual method... from a PC, you can install any compatible OS package (for example, for your BB model exact number) of a BB via this procedure:

  Hi, I live in Austria, Europe. I have a Blackberry 8800 and recently had to change the provider (previously A1 Vodafone).

  Now, I have a SIM "telering" (part of the group T-Mobile Austria) with a contract called "Großer Basta", which includes 2 GB data volume.

  However, I don't know how to activate GPRS or EDGE for data transfer. The phone displays GSM only, I can phone and send (and receive) text messages, but I have NO e-mail or Internet access. Telering is not very useful, I'm afraid.

  If anyone can help I would be very grateful, thanks in advance.

  Looks like your PIN has not been implemented for the data with the new mobile network carrier.

  If you go to Options>Advanced Options>host Routing Table, you have all the entries listed? Otherwise, if you do Menu > register now, you get the enrollment message?

  If you answer no to any of these questions, then you will need to contact the current mobile operator and ensure that your data services are provided.

  Hello, I just upgraded to OS 4.2 to 4.5 on a BB 8800. Installation and the upgrade worked fine, but now its restarting every 5 minutes.

  Is this a known issue? Is there a solution?

  It's kind of weird...

  My 8800 lists the version as v4.2.1.72 (in options-> on)

  I downloaded 4.2.1.79 from blackberry.com:

  I ran the install several times, routine apparently successfully.

  However options-> on still shows the version as 4.2.1.72.

  Any thoughts?

  I would recommend that you go ahead and install the last version released for the 8800.

• Smartphone blackBerry Storm 5.0 upgrade problems - Missing Core Apps (Memo Pad, Word To Go...)

  After the upgrade to 5.0, all contacts, emails and text messages are wiped out.  In addition, many applications have disappeared but not only incompatible those known (such as mentioned in another part of the forum), but the core ones like Notepad, calculator, Word To Go, etc.  Application Center is still left!

  Regarding your data, according to what did you when you did the first attempt (it would have offered as save you the options and choices), it may or may not be a backup available for restore you from. Search your entire hard drive to a file with an extension of the RPI (*.) IPD)... inspect the date/time that the results were created. If there in your first attempt, can use as source for your catering:

  I have a Bold 9700 unlocked running OS 5 I used with a SIM card international of the United Kingdom and then foreign service briefly with a totally different supplier (on a business plan).  I have recently re-established his residence in the United States and am allowing my son to use the BB for now.  We have a new AT & T SIM card which has never had a BB account provisioned on this subject.

  I did a wipe securely on the phone.  The phone continues to receive messages from a yahoo.com account.  When I go to Setup-> configuration of personal e-mail and then click on 'back' (to not set up a new account), I get a message "there is no such thing as an email address currently on your Blackberry device"- and yet, I still get messages on the yahoo.com account and can respond, discover records, etc.  When I check the Service books, there is no registration for any book of service not associated with the email account; Indeed, no list of CMIME at all.

  How can I delete an e-mail access on behalf of yahoo.com this phone? How in the world he continued to receive emails?

  Updated in case others run into the same problem.

  My challenge stretched for a few hours, first with AT & T and then with rising support BB (was helpful and professional, just BTW - took some time).  No one could understand at first how the phone was receiving emails when no e-mail account has been installed.  Turns, it could receive emails but not send.  The question of my previous service provider: Airtel India.

  Indian SPs are intensely competitive, and when you request a closure plan, several things happen: (1) it takes several days to kill the service. (2) they call you repeatedly ask if you want to transfer the SIM card / service to a parent, a friend, or convert a prepaid account, but to keep alive where you need (no matter how many times say you no). and (3) the MS maintains the 'active' account even after closing down for a period of 30 days or more - it is so if you decide to return to MS, you won't need to do a fresh install.

  My Indian Airtel account was ordered closed three weeks ago - kept Airtel my yahoo.com address active on the BIS servers.  So notwithstanding the fact that I used a card SIM ATT, BB servers somehow "linked" account e-mail on the physical device, and the e-mail was received.  Interestingly, I couldn't send / reply to emails, because no e-mail account has been created on the device - however, the aircraft was always receive emails.

  After three factory reset and reinstall, it took climbed BB support to 'kill' the Airtel connection to the device.  They came through in the end!

  My problem is solved and this thread can be closed / locked.

However, that particular KB contains multiple processes, so I can't say with certainty if you continued through it to the specific method for failing to provide the answer to the security question, with the 'Note', it contains regarding the absence of having already (in the past) confirmed the BB ID... and, if no, then indeed the security issue cannot be circumvented.

  When you create a BBID account, you will receive an email, with a link that you must click to confirm your account (in order to validate, for the system, which you are actually available on this email address).   The Blackberry has only a single database of address book and calendar, then no, you cannot have two separate on the same device.

  If you are trying to connect the handset to the Labour Act and sync then you will import the details of the House for the work e-mail account - workOutlook will show both, as well as the combined BB (as you wil sync'ing the HH details to the PC).

  Just another error after error and mistake, I use "bold" 9700, I better just blackberry apps 3.1.0.56 and guess what, I have 2 error msg after restart:

  1. Untrapped exception: Net_rim_bb_qm_peer (232) Application is unresponsive; the process is completed.
  2. Untrapped exception: Exception Java.Lang.Null pointer.

  Unless you have sensitive data on your device there should be no need to

  encryption. Indeed if you use a content protection, your device will be

  Go to options, multimedia card and check the encryption option mode. It must be set

  votes to zero. Also check under General options, security, the protection of the content.

  Up until this morning I had access to Blackberry Services on my device, Internet, BBM, email etc, but now I have Blackberry logo on my home screen (up top-right).  Looking at my account online for my phone I can see that the services are active.
