• Satellite L500-1DT: HDD Recovery of Win 7 is stuck in an endless loop

  It's a so detailed bug report please bear with me.
  If you can help, or can confirm that you have had the same thing happen to you, I will be grateful.

  I've owned several Toshiba laptops before and I've even worked for Toshiba so worry, I like the machine. But I have a problem with his recovery software. I just bought a laptop Satellite L500-1DT with Windows 7 64 bit, on behalf of a non-techie who lives elsewhere. Since I know from experience that I have to sometimes panic calls from field in the sense of "it became too slow", "How do I get rid of the accumulated junk", "maybe he had a virus" and so on, the first thing I checked was ASR, which is how to bring the HD to "like new" condition.

  So I started out in the machine, replied to the questions until I got in the appropriate operating system, then led the program "make a recovery DVD. Double layer DVD checked ok. With the freshly made DVDs, I swapped the HD for a spare part, I had (much less: only 40 GB instead of 320) and started the rescue DVD hoping it would fix my own system to the blank disc.

  He did repartition the drive according to its schema, with more or less half the space for Windows and the other half for the data, including the recovery files. He did install the system in the Windows partition. It was then restarted in Windows 7 installed in order to complete the installation. There, the trouble began: an endless loop of reboots for hours until what I stopped it.

  Loop:
  * reset
  * black screen with bright logo 4 color windows «windows startup»
  * black screen with slight blade and "Setup prepares your computer for first use.
  * blue white screen "Welcome" with "please wait" and the crossbar with green blob, saying "the installation may take several minutes. Please do not interrupt or shut down the computer! »
  * blue screen saying it stops

  Repeat the above forever.

  I saw him restart way more than 10 times over several hours. And whenever he's faking, that this is the first time she did it. Of course, this is not normal!

  I tried to stop with ctrl-alt-del and the Task Manager, but the white screen would go even the Task Manager, making it difficult to kill any process or even inspect what they were on top.   With bravery bordering stupidity (*) I even Redid the procedure hard disk provided instead of my rescue: first I have nuked the windows partition, then I save the HD (with F8), not with the DVD that I had done. Result: similar rigmarole, with endless reboot.

  After that I stopped it, it kind-of-worked, as above, but now some programs were lacking, such as the Toshiba DVD drive.

  (*) motivated by: better try now with the computer here and all my tools and other computers ready at hand, that when the computer died at home of its owner, and that's the only thing left to try with me at the other end of a line call. Been there before.

  Now, that specific (DVD player), that I could download it from the support page and it installed fine. But what else might be missing or not working not that I have not noticed? The restore process is clearly not working as it should.

  I'm the first or only to whom it happens? I'm doing something wrong? Is there anything else I should try?

  I need to make sure that the restore procedure works perfectly while I still have the computer in my hands. If not, there is no chance that I'll be able to do a remote reinstall for my non-techie, once I asks me to clean the laptop by phone a few months from now.

  First of all, I must say that I could recover my trouble free unit.
  The installation of Win 7 went well and everything has been installed correctly.

  Back to you:
  To me it looks like something wrong with installation maybe some HARD drive partitions were confues perhaps, HARD drive should again formatted, and then run the recovery procedure.
  You should test

  Regarding the DVD player:
  As much as I know there is no DVD player for Win 7 64 bit. There are only available for Win 64 bit updated. If you need to install the DVD player for Win 7 32 bit version and then update using the patch released for Win7 64 bit.

• Vista Home Premium stuck in an endless loop

  My Sony VAIO came with Vista Home Premium loaded and is now stuck in endless mode.

  When I turn on the system it starts with Windows icon, followed by the VAIO logo and then jumps immediately to «Configuring updates step 3 of 3» It freezes it for awhile and then restarts and the cycle starts again.

  I managed to get to the point where I was able to select Safe Mode, and everything what was jump to screen, "stage 3 of 3 ' (but this time with a large font). Then it rebooted again and returned to the ususal reboot cycle.

  I left the system about 3 hours and he will continue to do this constantly.

  Apart from use as a boat anchor, I am willing to try anything. Suggestions?

  Follow these steps to try to solve your problems of boot.

   

   

  Restore point:

  Try typing F8 at startup and in the list of Boot selections, select Mode safe using ARROW top to go there > and then press ENTER.

  Try a restore of the system once, to choose a Restore Point prior to your problem...

  Click Start > programs > Accessories > system tools > system restore > choose another time > next > etc.

  If Safe Mode does not work and you do not have a Vista DVD from Microsoft, do a repair disc to do a Startup Repair:

  Go to your Bios/Setup, or the Boot Menu at startup and change the Boot order to make the DVD/CD drive 1st in the boot order, then reboot with the disk in the drive.

  At the startup/power on you should see at the bottom of the screen either F2 or DELETE, go to Setup/Bios or F12 for the Boot Menu.

  When you have changed that, insert the Bootable disk you did in the drive and reboot.

  You have probably a bad job trying to print from the computer that confuses the printer each time that the printer is ready and starts the sequence.  Unplug the printer from the computer and see if the printer is ready when you turn it on.  If he made, go to the computer and click on the printer to make it appear that is printing and delete all print jobs, turn off the computer and then turn it back on and reconnect the printer and everything should be ok.  I assume that no other computer is turned on and print on this printer.  If this is not the case turn off other computers.

  I guess the BSOD loop arise due to some drivers which are not entirely compatible Win 10 and probably these drivers must be removed before making the Win 10 update.

  To check the compatibility follow this procedure:

  • Right-click on the icon 'Get Windows 10' (on the right side of the taskbar), then click on "Check the status of your upgrade".
  • In the app to get Windows 10, click on the menu: (3 lines) and then click on "Check your PC.
  • Now you should see the list of compatibility issues

  Follow these steps:

  (a) access to the computer's BIOS by pressing the key that appears in the on-screen instructions.

  (b) once inside the updated BIOS optical drive (CD-ROM) as first boot device. Press "F10" to save the changes and exit the BIOS. Insert the Windows operating system disc in the optical drive. Restart the computer. The message "Press any key to boot from the CD" will appear later.

  (c) press "enter". Windows will start in the Setup of the CD. After the installation has loaded, boot into the Recovery Console by pressing 'R '. Recovery Console is displayed. You will be asked to choose the type of installation that you want to connect.

  (d) type the number next to the main Windows installation. Usually this is denoted by a number 1. Press '1', then press 'Enter'. If you have a password for the computer, you type after that "Enter the administrator password" will appear. Otherwise, simply press "Enter".

  (e) to the C:\ prompt, type the following: "CHKDSK/p" (without the quotes). This checks the drive for errors and correct the errors found. Then, type "FIXBOOT" (without the quotes) at the prompt to C:\. When the prompt "Are you sure you want to write a new boot sector?" appears, press "Enter".

  Hi, I saw that many people had a similar problem but I have found no solution.

  On a desktop pc Windows XP32 I had to reinstall a network HP 6180 printer.

  The original software/driver CD go into an endless loop; first ask to see internet to update, after some time, reboot and after reboot start early request check the update, restart... and so on...

  I tried to uninstall all software and reinstall but still the same.

  I tried to follow the instructions to clean all the drivers using 'l... '. Something.bat"and download full driver/software (more than 500 MB) but the result is always the same, loop without end.

  I tried manually adding a printer and select "driver disk"... the printer works now, but it's not possible install the software and the device scanner is also absent.

  Any suggestion on how to break out of this loop?

The computer is no longer under warranty, and I have no agreement to support hardware or software for it.

• HP Windows 7 stuck in a reboot loop

  Hi all

  Recently, I accidentally upgraded my HP Envy 14 from Windows 7 to Windows 10 and let the month pass without switch back.  Due to one host of other problems that have arisen, I decided to Windows 7, so I took out my old Windows 7 recovery disc to re-install Windows 7.

  He successfully reformats the hard drive and everything seems to go well until the end of the installation, when all of a sudden it shuts off and restarts.  He will then get as far as the 'starting windows' screen before it restarts again, each time giving to the screen "Windows is not stopped successfully", is not just a part of the installation process.  He's stuck in this reboot loop.

  I have created a startup repair disk and ran the Startup Repair, but he reported having found no problem.  Very well.
