I tried first aid in os x 10.11, no problem, safe mode, no problem.  Diskutil cs return disk1 and had the error 69741 target disk is not eligible for the review...

Also tried single-user mode and/sbin/fsck - fy and that did not work.  I want OS X would give at least a clue, but I am at a total loss.

Encryption is on, I turned it off and it always has. t work.

Thanks in advance.

3 TB drives require a special partitioning on Macs that do not support Windows using boot EFI. What year/model is your Mac? El Capitan BCA is broken when handling this, but Yosemite and the Mavericks manage much better.

It requires the partition Windows to be "sandwiched" between the two partitions on OS X, forming a volume of CS, so that a valid MBR can be created.

Have you tried to create a Windows partition that was larger than 1 TB to test if it worked or not?

    Hello

Would really appreciate some help on this!

I tried to install Windows 7 on my iMac 2015 but during the installation of windows it guests that the partition must be formatted in a different way.

Now when I try to use Boot Camp once again, I get this message:

The startup disk cannot be partitioned or restored to a single partition.

The startup disk must be formatted in a single volume in Mac OS extended (journaled) or already partitioned by Boot Camp Assistant to install Windows.

The problem is that I can't erase the Boot Camp Partition in any way using disk utility.

The Macs listed to install Windows 7 and previous versions on your Mac with Boot Camp - Apple supported support W7. 2015 macs don't support W7.

The only supported method to remove Windows from a Fusion using Mac drive is Boot Camp: Remove Windows from your Mac . Do not use disk utility.

You seem to have tried a deletion of THE (not deleting a partition), at least once. Your BC partition is now a HFS partition. Convert it back into a FAT32 partition on THE and then try to remove it by using the link provided.

If you are unable to remove using BCA, then use the steps of the Re: doesn't have windows via bootcamp 8.1 installation .

    Hello!

I'm trying to install Windows on my iMac (late 2013, running 10.11.6) without success.  I created the ISO to a flash drive, but when I try to use the Assistant Boot camp, I am referred to the following screen:

I did my best to study solutions. The cause, by apple support discussions, is that there is another partition of pre-empting (stop) the wizard boot camp partitioning the hard drive.  I studied the partitions on my HDD after unplugging all devices and found this:

This shows the main partition: Macintosh HD, the bootcamp partition: BOOTCAMP; and 2 unknown partitions: "Apple HDD ST100DM003 Media" and the same * M004.  I was able to delete the first Apple ST100DM003 HARD disk partition and ran first aid on the fusion drive after that the second he would not remove.  Also, I can't delete the boot camp partition.  I keep getting the same message when I try to install windows on a partition of the fuser unit using Boot Camp Assistant - "Startup disk cannot be partitioned or restored to a single partition".

    Any suggestions?

Please after the release of the following OSX Terminal commands.

  • Uninstall the bootcamp partition: the startup disk cannot be partitioned or restored to a single partition.

A few months ago, I created a Windows 8 bootcamp partition, and then, I updated for Windows 10 without any problem. But I no longer need and I would attribute this space to OS X. The problem is when I try to remove it from the app of Bootcamp, I get this message: "the startup disk cannot be partitioned or restored to a single partition. The startup disk must be formatted in a single volume in Mac OS extended (journaled) or already partitioned by Boot Camp Assistant to install Windows. »

It comes to the current state of the hard drive:

You have an idea? Thanks for the help.

I finally solved it. It seems that I had a not mounted partition which it has not been used. I removed it and it solved all the problems:

When I want to restart the training camp that I got the error message: "the startup disk cannot be partitioned or restored to a single partition.

According to this page, it is because of Windows recovery partitions added during the 8 to 8.1 migration and 8.1 to 10.

I check with diskutil and I found 2 partitions of Windows Recovery:

  • Unable to run bootcamp.  boot disk cannot be partitioned.  El capitan

Hi, just finished loading my rMBP 2012 with el capitan and a single 750GB SSD.  I partitioned exfat 650 GB drive for windows and the 2nd partition 100 GB jfs for OS x.  He moved very well, connects to the apple ID, lowers the updates, etc.  all is well in the world

until I want to launch the boot camp utility.  the only options are to create a windows 7 or later installation disc and download the latest windows support software.  These two work, but it won't let me proceed with the installation of windows.  It is said that it must be a single volume OSX or already partitioned by boot camp assistant.   Well, none of the options are available.  the windows partition present on/dev/disk0s2 as an "internal physical drive' and running OSX installation is on/dev/disk1 as an"internal virtual drive.  It doesn't seem to be a way to merge these 2 partitions without restarting (several hours process to make a recovery of the internet and re - download the updates/patches/etc).

so is it possible to force the boot camp just use the partition I have already created or change something from a virtual disk to physics?  I would * love * just to install windows on the entire disk, but every time I tried with 8.1 it would blue screen randomly even with bootcamp drivers.  It seems to require that the OSX partition and boot camp initiated install to remain stable.

If you manually partition the disk, you cannot use BCA. BCA needs to partition the drive, because there are other structures, it must be up-to-date. If you want to keep your partition, you will need to do elsewhere that BCA would do behind the scenes for you.

So basically I can't remove my HD BOOTCAMP volume, and I can even boot from it. I tried first aid and formatting to different formats then put in shape in the journal. I don't want to lose my space and prefer not to reset my macbook. It doesn't recognize it as a bootable disk.

You can remove only using the Boot Camp Assistant. The volume is not bootable until you install Windows on it.

If you cannot delete the partition with the BCA, then you will need to repartition the disk. Don't forget to make a backup because Re-partitioning will wipe everything.

    Hello world

I have a problem with my macbook. Once a decide install windows via boot camp. Everything is ok, I'm going to star boot camp, create the windows (100 GB for windows) partition and start the installation of windows, in windows, I format partition windows by tutorial in the site of apple and windows install beginning... after that windows displays errors that can not install windows, so a cancel every thing a restart of the mac (I'm told that I can't live without windows) , so I started mac and I watch my drive. I have 500 GB SDD, mac shows me normally of 500 GB, but the tape drive shows me only 400GB. I understand that the missing 100 GB is the windows partition, but it is now. I can't find this partition, or disk utility, or normally. Boot camp can not boot because error boot camp startup disk cannot be partitioned etc..

A few ideas how to run boot camp with this problem or how can run windows install without boot camp to try install new windwos? Sorry for my English and thank you for any response.

After you delete the BootCamp partition, you must use the disk utility to resize the OS X partition.  The partitions will not resize itself automatically, you must open disk utility and manually resize the partition to use the full capacity of the drive.
