Boot Up order

HP Pavilion 14-b109wm Windows 8.1

How can I get the BIOS to boot from USB Drive first?  I change the order in BIOS but goes first hard even when recording while exitting the BIOS?  Try to use a password for my USB recovery program to redo my admin password?

Hello

Try the following.

Judgment of the laptop.

Click next to the ESC key as soon as you press the power button to enter the Boot Menu, and then select the Bios Menu ( f10 ).

Under the System Configuration tab, expand the Boot Options Menu.

You must set the Secure Boot to disabled and legacy devices on " Enabled".

When you're finished, press f10 and select this option to Save the changes.

You will then need to enter a PIN of 4 numbers displayed on the screen to confirm the changes to the settings - enter the code and press ENTER.

Insert your bootable flash drive and the laptop shutdown.

Click next to the ESC key as soon as you press the power button to enter the Boot Menu, and then select the Boot Options Menu ( f9 ).

Use the arrow keys to select the flash drive option and press ENTER.

Kind regards

    VERY frustrating.

    Any help?

Hey Dean.  Thanks for the note.  Not sure that I can accurately describe the nightmare of everything but I will try.

BIOS would repeatedly freeze mode back or vertical menu.  I only had 2 minutes to make a change.

The factory setting was also Raid!  With a single disk.  Superb.

He spent two hours on the phone with technical support in the East. First call spent 1/2 hour then had massive language issues. Then bad attitudes and after having finally got a supervisor on the phone, he yelled at me because I added an SSD as if I had the nerve, which makes the system that I wanted it to be.  VERY unprofessional.

Result: Finally got BIOS to work by unplugging everything including power supply, keyboard/mouse USB and network.  Pressed the power button / stop for 10 seconds.  It resets the BIOS.

Still wouldn't see the new SSD as boot however drive.

After shouting by the controller to support, so I finally did what I should have done 2.5 hours earlier.

I made records.  Pulled the battery and under BIOS.  Unplugged the HARD drive, installed the SSD, and factory reinstalled the system on the SSD.  Taken from the HARD drive, formatted, it on my HARD drive and reinstalled duplicator.

End result...?  Works like a monkey violated today.

Just be aware when you reset the BIOS like this, at the start, the fan of the machine runs at high speed for 1 to 2 minutes.  Looks like one of my 2900 quad-processor poweredge servers!  Then he stops, restarts at a more normal speed of fan and all is well.  I mention this so that someone can think that the machine is about to take off like a Lear jet!

Thanks for the help and advice.

  • Boot priority order

I have an acer aspire one ao531h. In the boot priority order, it has the following options:
Boot USB CDROM, USB HDD, IDE0, IDE1, network, USB FDD. For bootable whitch is all of them? (USB CDROM is for DVD and CD)

    Hello...

  • Boot device order

I was running my brand new HP Pavilion p6270z desktop, pre installed Win7 Home Premium Build 7600 a month now and I really enjoy it.  FYI I also seem to have shipped a SATA RAID (AMD - Compatible AHCI) controller.  I know absolutely nothing about controllers RAID BTW.   My HARD drive is a SCSI Seagate 500 GB ST 3500 418AS.

Shortly after obtaining my Windows accounts set up and all my security software installed, I sat down and made my HP (3) recovery disks to restore the factory settings.  Also did a C: backup using Windows backup.  Do a repair disc and a system of Coimplete Image using Image of Win7 system functionality.  If at this point, I feel good to be able to get right on the fun part... surfing the net. And it has been good sailboat, I admit it.  Love Win7!

But... today I went to the configuration of the Bios just to take note of the factory settings and discovered something I found odd.  The Scan shows 1 ST Boot Device boot screen is HP DVD-RAM GH40L.  It shows 2nd Boot device = disk HARD ST3500 418AS.    I noticed a noise from the DVD player to each start upward, but since this is my first comjputer HP, I didn't it was necessarily a problem.  When I saw the Bios boot screen, I see the pc tries to boot from the DVD drive and then past to C: to initialize.  Isn't is supposed to be the other way around?  Technology of factory making my installs SW has failed to hand over to C: before shipping?

Question: Should I put it to boot C: to avoid problems in the future?   FWIW the pc starts quickly and without error messages either.   Or do I have to follow the old adage: if it ain't broke, leave it alone!

Question:  If your response indicates that I should put it to start on C:, it basically denies my being able to use all of the repair, recovery and system image disc, I did and I have to make new discs due to the boot order back to C:?

Your CD/DVD is the first boot device. This way you can put in a boot disk and the PC it will start up without intervention.

You don't have to change your HP recovery disks, even if you decide to change your boot order.  You can change the boot order in the bios.

Alternatively, you can hit the ESC key on the blue HP screen to choose the boot device.

  • How to set up a clean boot in order to update

I want to update Internet Explorer from IE6 to IE8 and there are a few other updates I want.  All the required updates were made automatically.

Troubleshooting of IE8 suggests a clean boot. I got an error message of my logon 'power', so I logged in 'administrator '. I followed the article 310353. http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/310353

In the service tab of msconfig, the article says "Click to select the hide all Microsoft Services check box." and "click disable all, then OK." Like I said that I am logged on as administrator. I get the message "You may need to log on using an administrator account to make the specified changes."

I am looking for a way to install IE8.  I clicked back to the settings default to IE6 and rebooted.  I hope to do the update within a clean boot will operate.

Yes, right or it could just be a matter of system settings.

I had my Matshita drive to a DVD ram drive.  ImgBurn can now read that an iso and Windows Media Player can read my choice of a collection of avi.

The problem of google + has proved to be no more than AdBlock blocked the text don't box that opens to let a message on his screen.

Logged in as 'Administrator', I'm not allowed to make necessary adjustments in msconfig to boot and I am not allowed to change group policy to create Microsoft Active Setup.

The most obvious problem is a protected folder stored in Shared Documents, which is invisible. Show encrypted or compressed NTFS in color is enabled in folder options, so I should be able to see the file, right?

  • Boot a order a distributed installation?

Y at - it no KBs officials that show the correct start of a distributed infrastructure vCAC order?

I just checked with the fountain of knowledge VMware sat next to me and there is apparently no official KB for this.

The answer varies depending on the version to a certain extent. The order recommended for vCAC is:

    1. service active Directory

    2. primary SSO

    3. secondary SSO

    4 MS SQL

5 external DB PostgreSQL (by v6.0.x)

6 primary vCAC device (for v6.1 + which assumes that the PostgreSQL DB internal is used and is the master)

7 secondary vCAC device (for v6.1 + which means that the internal PostgreSQL DB is used and it is the slave)

8 servers Web IaaS (they are active / active)

    9 IaaS Manager server (active)

10 IaaS Manager server (standby - of course, the Manager service itself is not start)

    11 DEMs (in any order)

    12. agents (in any order)

The order of the components of Windows should not matter too much, and of course the foregoing assumes that MSSQL and the Postgres DB for vCAC devices are toward the top.

  • How to change the order of boot on the Satellite L755-172

    Guys,

Try to access the motherboard bios Setup to verify the boot priority order.
I'm trying to format my PC using a DVD but its does not work.
I checked the DVD on the other PC and its working properly!

    Can I get help?

    Thanx

    Hello

You can access the start menu without changing the boot order in the BIOS.
Turn on the laptop, press F12. Usually, you should get a boot menu where you can choose the CD/DVD drive as a boot device.

PS: I would recommend created a Toshiba drive recover first before formatting the laptop!

    Help, please

    Hello

    Thank you for your response.

I assume you mean operating system based on GNU/Linux. In this case, the situation is somewhat different.

Well, as you know that we live in a world based on Windows (when it comes to personal computers) and most computers are designed with Microsoft and Windows in mind. That is why we (the users of Linux - I also use the operating system based on Linux on my home computer) may encounter some obstacles.

I don't have any experience with your computer model but I did some research and I found a few articles - their steps can help make you default GRUB a (not OS boot loader). As you probably know, GRUB is loaded by default booting of Linux (Ubuntu), and if it's by default you will be able to control with it, what boots first and she will control the OS boot/choice/etc...  :

Read the steps, follow the instructions carefully. Backup your most important data on external media before the changes (manual image backup or full using Clonezilla for example).

  • HP Envy 17-3000 (3D) - replace internal 80 GB SSD? (or change the boot order?)

My Envy 17 - 3xxx (3D) has a 80 GB SSD as boot/OS drive and a 1 TB HARD drive as secondary.  I would replace the 80 GB SSD with a 500 GB new and faster SSD.  I cloned the SSD existing to the new device, all good.

However, I * physically cant just find the (existing) primary SSD drive *.  I took the back cover off, the two additional drive bays are here, I looked under the battery, CDROM, etc.  Clues?  I hope that if I just share, I'll be set.

Otherwise, I could leave the existing 80 GB SSD in there * if I could figure out how to set the boot devices order *.  Currently, the BIOS allows me to internal versus external rather than network vs CDROM as classes start command, but not the individual devices.  Clues?

    Thank you!!!

If you get the 3.0 mSATA adapter usb like this:

    http://www.Amazon.com/ZTC-enclosure-adapter-SuperSpeed-ZTC-EN002/DP/B00I4701O6/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&QID=1410222318&SR=8-2&keywords=USB+to+mSATA

wost case you can use the mSATA as a very fast player. That's what I found myself doing with my WSSD, after I bought a 500 GB SSD for laptop. I could just NTO find any other product uses for it.

If please do after back and let us know how it works because it's still a bit of a dunkelfeld for HP laptops.

  • Factory restore / Boot Order RAID 0 array?

I have a 'mobile 'current enforcement office (laptop) XP Pro SP2 with dual hard drives in a RAID 0 array.  For various reasons, I want to put the machine in its factory out-of-the-box condition using discs of recovery/restoration of the manufacturer (essentially the application of Norton Ghost). I did my due diligence regarding the restoration of the machine and 'reconstruction' from there, but the machine does not start on boot from the restore disc CD.  I do not venture into the BIOS often... the existing boot priority order is as follows:

    1. USB FDC:

    2 PCISCSI: FTTX Ary1

    3 IDEO_M: QSI CD-RW/DVD-ROM

    4 IDEO_S: _NEC DVD + /-RW

    5. PCI LAN:

    6.

    7 etc.

I don't have a built-in floppy drive. I want the machine to start from #3 (my first optical drive).  In the order of precedence of the BIOS Boot, I simply move #3 to the #1 or #2 position?  Will be other items then simply drop into their existing order?

I do not know how does RAID 0 of the table is on the boot order selection, but I don't want to spoil anything.  I appreciate your help and your expertise.

    Hi Aravaipa,

    · On what CD drive you insert the disc?

    · The operating system was preinstalled on the computer?

    · If so, what the number and model of the computer?

    · If it was custom build provide the serial number and model of the motherboard?

    · Have you have saved data on the computer?

I suggest you to back up data before performing the procedure below:

    1. If the computer is preinstalled on RAID 0 configuration then you might need to break the Raid by changing the variable speed drive (ATA controller) to Normal or IDE

    2. as you have two CD/make ROM DVD readers like the first and the second in the boot sequence and make the method of trial and error to see what DVD Rom detects the recovery disk

Note: Change to the BIOS/complementary metal oxide semiconductor (CMOS) settings can cause serious problems that may prevent your computer from starting properly. Microsoft cannot guarantee that problems resulting from the configuration of the BIOS/CMOS settings can be solved. Changes to settings are at your own risk. You can contact the manufacturer of the computer for better assistance.

  • 8300 elite SFF: 8300 Elite won't USB flash drive boot

Elite Mini PC 8300.  I made a bootable USB key but cannot get the Menu of boot or boot order configuration in the BIOS to see the player.  Exactly the same as in this other thread pending: USB not available in the Start Menu

In 'Device Configuration' (BIOS) is listed, it does NOT appear in the Boot configuration order, even if I save changes and reboot.  I have disabled UEFI and Secure Boot, activated Legacy BIOS, I intend to install Windows 7 x 64.  When starting I press F9 or ESC to display the start menu and the USB key is not listed.  All USB ports are enabled.  Tried the ports front and rear (except USB 3.0 those W7 with no support from the other drivers for USB 3.0).  I tried he prepares with Microsoft USB DVD Tool and Rufus.

The flash player has worked well with several other PCs.  for example I have HP Pro 4300 SFF and the flash player starts without a problem here it is configurable in BIOS and select from the Start Menu.

First attempts on Elite 8300 was with BIOS v2.99.  But I also tried after update BIOS to v3.03 because release notes made remarks on improving support USB, but there was No change even problem.

Take the battery CMOS press switch reset CMOS on the systemboard put the CMOS battery, restart the device to fix a date and time in the BIOS and check if this is useful.

You should be able to get the DVD player to start by starting the PC and at the beginning of the HP welcome screen, press the F9 key to start the start time menu.

Select the DVD drive and you should be able to boot from the CD/DVD of windows.

If the USB device is present when you turn it on and is bootable, it is possible to change the boot priority order.  The device must be bootable however.  I use Sandisk Cruiser readers to ADAPT because they don't stick as to be broken and are easily hidden if hooked up to the rear of the machine.
