  Hello waylonx3, here is the link for the specifications of your system. It shows that your system has 2 slots, PCIe and a PCI slot.

  Your system should be able to use one of these modems of type. I would check the motherboard of the system to make sure that you have a PCI slot or available PCIe and then you can order one that will work in your system.

  Ishaan is correct since only today, I managed to get my hands on a Y500 to test. I have to admit that the Y500 is a great machine to own :-D

  In any case, with regard to get this to work, you will need to go into BIOS.
  To start the BIOS configuration utility:
  1 turn off the computer.
  2 press the Novo button (small button with the curved arrow, located next to the receptacle) and select Configuration of the BIOS.

  > Go to the tab "BOOT".
  > Under"Boot" change into "Legacy support".
  > Press F10 and save the setting.
  > Machine will restart and boot press F12
  > When the boot menu appears, select desired boot.

  We wrote just a job with a DVD-ROM on the root directory content. It's something we have done regularly. This time the files were not visible on the Mac. They are visible on any PC.   We discovered the problem. We are still not sure why this caused the question but all .pdf in the DVD-ROM folder files were in Spanish. Eliminating the accents on file names, went around. We have reduced to the first .pdf files by burning the DVD with the other files and it worked fine. Then we changed the names of the files and presto!  It's very weird, but I remember my early days of DVD authoring that some characters are treated as commands in the DVD specifications. I'm more likely to attribute it to the characters causing the Mac to write incorrectly or not properly finalize directory. Whatever it is, this fixed. Strange but true.

  Just recently, I improve my XPS 700/720 hybrid for Windows Vista Ultimate 64-bit. Everything has been great to work for the last 2 weeks, but my dvd burner - rom and dvd both leave suddenly appear in 'my computer', after that I tried recently to reinstall Roxio Creator MyDVD Combo THE. I checked the Device Manager and the two drives appear with a (!) icon next to them. Open the Properties tab gives me the following message:

  Click on 'Search for solutions' to send data about this device to Microsoft and to see if there is a solution available. »

  The message is the same for both drives, and I can't understand a solution to this at all. I tried to uninstall devices, but when the computer detects, it reinstalls the drivers right and translates the same message. I don't know where to find new drivers for these drives (dvd - rom Philips DRO6316, dvd burner is TSSTCorp DVD +-RW TS - H553A.

• Yet another DVD-ROM does not

  I also have another DVD-ROM doesn't work is no problem. The drive used to work fine until I installed a second drive, replace my CD burner by an engraver of DVD - RAM. The second works very well. I'm used to debug hardware issues but was just lazy for a few months. Today, I put a lot of time to test, read the Forum etc. No luck. My system is a Dimension 8400/Win XP and not work drive is HL-DT-ST DVD - ROM GDR8163B.

  No errors in Device Manager. The drive just keeps asking to insert a disc. Any type of disc does work (audio, cd or dvd), but they work very well with the DVD - RAM drive. Here's what I've done:

  1. Uninstall all of the software (with Add/Remove Programs Win) associated with CD - DVD (Nero, InCD, PowerDVD7, producer of energy, to things, I got with the DVD-RAM).
  2. Tried the first simple ideas found on the forum. Uninstall DVD driver and IDE controller and remove all keys filters upper and lower in the register (as you see below redbook remains). Delete all errors in the registry with CCleaner three times, until there was no error on the left. I noticed there are still entries in the registry for software that I removed (whole folder of Cyberlink stuff is still there). Have you not tried to erase that. An example of windows efficiency unsinstalling of things. You get not just on a Mac. Oops sorry for this comment. Maybe it's the best solution. Buy a Mac, put the DVD-ROM and it should work fine... ; >). I used to do the Mac support and installation of a few years back... Anyway.
  3. Unplug the DVD-RAM drive to keep only the no work in the car.

  5. Reconnect the DVD-RAM to run Dell diagnostics from the utility CD (I don't have the utility partition because the main hard drive has been replaced). From the DVD - ROM drive self-test.   6. Finally, I even tried to remove redbook.sys file drivers, reboot, Windows successor but the DVD-ROM is not working.
